Customers are saying

Customers are delighted by the excellent sound quality and comfortable fit of these headphones. Many appreciate the lightweight design and find them to be a good value for the price. However, some users note that the bass could be improved, and the cord length is a point of contention for some. A few also mention challenges with volume and jack compatibility.

    Pleasently surprised!

I went to my local Best Buy with a Magnolia center to listen to these headphones and was not terribly impressed with the audio but it still sounded very good for $95 headphones when compared to others in the store. I got them home and watched a movie using my Pioneer Elite receiver and they literally came alive. The bass response was excellent and they were not boomy. The highs were not tinny and overall the sound was well balanced and enjoyable to listen too. If your in the market for good headphones at a reasonable price you really can't go wrong with these.

Do your research to see if this will fill all your needs, then stop in to Magnolia and ask to compare the Sennheiser HD 558 to all the other, but more expensive headphones. Take into account the price. This is what I did, and I found that the HD 558 blew all the expensive ones away. Sennheiser has been around for a long time making transducers in the pro market for studio and live sound environments and that experience shows with these headphones.

    I'm speachless

i'm speechless, luckily i can type. I just opened these headphones up and i am so incredibly blown away. I have sampled many other headphones and this has to be one of the best i've ever used. I listen to a variety of genres, mostly metal, but i can go from metal, to hip hop, to folk, to country (i refuse to listen to pop so sorry i cannot provide input on that genre) and these headphones capture every tone perfectly that the genre's sound is about. it has amazing highs, mids. The bass is good, just not booming so if you want the bass to choke out the rest of the sound buy beats. I really cannot find one complaint about these headphones, aside from being a tad bulky and not as durable.

A GREAT Sennheiser product at a great price

My over-the-ear headphones (a brand we all know pretty well) had poor connectivity at the auxiliary connection to the headphones, worsening to the point where they were no longer usable. Enter the Titan! I have had them for about a month and listened a lot, so now I'm ready to review. First, the price; it is simply TOO affordable not to buy a pair. Second, it's very much a Sennheiser product, a brand I've known for around 40 years and the quality of the Titans reflect that. Now the sound. These should not be confused with that familiar on-the-ear brand. These are "open-ear", which will let environmental sound into what you are listening to; these are NOT noise canceling in any way. Over-the-ear cans sound completely different, with more spatial distribution of the sound. I don't ascribe to the "burn in" theory, I believe your ears "learn" more than headphones "burn"; our opinions will vary here. That being said, these phones sound GREAT. Well mixed movies and videos come alive with these headphones. They feel solid on your head, and the build doesn't feel like cheap plastic to me. One drawback is the auxiliary cable. It comes with a large plug that has a 3.5 mm adapter. If you want a 3.5 mm cable, you're going to have to order one (Amazon $18.00--BOO); hence my 4-star rating. An upside is that the cable actually "locks" in the jack with a kind of threaded quarter turn, so the lack of connection I experienced with the other popular brand is non-existent. Said cable is pretty long as well. The more I listen, especially to familiar music, the more these babies revel to my ears. They are really more for home theater/PC use, but you could wear them outside for your phone; I just don't think that this model lends itself to that type of usage. You've read the reviews and most of us like these headphones. At the current sale price, they are a fantastic bargain. Do your own research and hopefully you will discover a great listening experience.

    good, not excellent

Tested after purchased on sale under 100 ("audiophile" on budget) and was not impressed with both ends: highs were "trying" to be natural but not really great as expected from Sennheiser, not cutting ears though either, but bass was not there. Tested with some well known subwoofer tracks: muddy, unclear bases even with gain up to +8/+10 dB from my AVR, low range was disappointing and weak. Mids frequencies sounded very natural and ears covers are made light (true "eargonomic") with excellent comfort. Will look to upgrade further and up to enjoy more clear highs and bass as it should sound.

    Great sound, Weird plug

For anything other than a standard aux port, these would probably be pretty good. The plug is all sorts of awkward. It goes from a tinier audio cable (smaller than standard. and with a specific twist lock so it seems like you can't just buy a cable from someone else), to the plug that goes into guitar amps, then with an adapter to a standard aux plug. The sound quality is pretty good though. I just don't understand why the cable has to be that strange

I am really impressed with these headphones - especially at the current sub-$100 sale price (though they are worth full price). I have always been a Sony MD guy, but these are a revelation. Much wider soundstage, and much more definition. Very impressed!

I will make this brief. My equipment onkyo MK II 2500. Pros: Yes they are very comfortable and I like the 1/4" headphone jack. Cons: No low end? try none! Search and find the frequencies on this product. Bass drops off into oblivion after mid bass. Don't think that is important? Try anything besides low volume music. Also turning up the volume on my 35 watt (rated higher than newer receivers) more than 3/8(even after turning the bass into the negative 4 out of 10) it distorts terribly!! Yes everything mid bass, treble,... everything. They sound terrible when I first listened to them. My review is after I broke them in. Go buy a cheap pair of headphones even a cheap pair of koss ( no not the one from the 70's but an actual cheap pair). They are not as accurate with sound reproduction but at least you can hear your stereo at a decent level! Sennheiser please refund me or send some headphones or similiarly priced earbuds to handle around 70 to 80 watts (since my receiver is rated around that much current ratings ) and that have some bass, and I mean some, that doesn't drop out at after mid.

Great headphones -- not good on noise reduction

I picked these up on sale for $79 which was an amazing deal. The sound is incredible and they are very comfortable. I'm a big guy and they fit over my ears without issue. One con I need to mention: When I bought these I had intended to use them while I play drums but they are really bad at blocking outside noise. That said, I now just use them for music and gaming and I'm very happy.

When I got it, it looks great. But after i listened musics with it , I found the bass is not that good compared to the MONSTER one. And also there is a sound leakage. Overall, I give 3 stars.

the overall sound quality was fair. The biggest issue I had was there was audible sound which could be heard by others in the room. The bass response was fair as well due to the open air design.

Unable to use adapter for any device with a cover

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Comes with cable male end that has a very large, thick cover and male pin that is too large to fit in any device, phone, tablet, that you bought and use a cover for it. The adapter only fits if you remove the cover, as it must be flush against the device. It will not insert to make a connection through the cover. At Best Buy store rep had to remove the cover from his phone to have the adapter flush to the phone to connect. Why would you buy it if it only works by removing your device cover and lose the protection the cover gives the device?
