Blows away the competition, by a lot

Hello! Before I review the headset let me start by first stating I have went through a lot of gaming headsets in the last 2 months. Testing and trying to find the right one. I play a lot of games on the XB1X that require attention to detail, mainly BR's (Blackout, Apex). I first tried the Turtle Beach Stealth 700. Let me tell you that it's a piece of junk, like most TB products. Volume was low (issue on all wireless headsets) and the sound was too far from neutral and seemed artificial. I then went to HyperX Cloud X, which had an above average sound but suffered from terrible mic audio bleed (output sound from the game and other peoples mic's would bleed into my mic causing echoing). It was a common reviewed issue and ultimately made me return them. I afterwards tried a pair of RIG 500lx's and was highly disappointed in the bass distortion, these headsets have bad drivers (avoid!). I then went big and tried a pair of Astro A40 TR's with the Mixamp Pro. I decided I would spend big to get a product that would hopefully pay off for itself. The headset as a stand-alone is absolutely NOT worth the money, and has poor results when tested for sound. The sound stage and imaging was great, but the rest was off and non-neutral. The MixAmp is what made the headset actually good, but I couldn't help but feel it wasn't right. SO.. I went ahead and bought these after lots of discussions with audiophiles and experts (friends, reddit, forumboards, etc). I was specifically told to avoid typical gaming brands if I wanted to get the ultimate sound for gaming. I was recommended to Sennheiser. Sennheiser is normally NOT a gaming company, they are a high-end audiophile company similar to bose, beyer, etc. These headphones are made by a company that is truly invested in producing the best sound quality possible and normally invest in studio recording quality, which is way beyond gaming headset companies. Once I put these on and tried them on a few games, I was blown away, they were significantly better then the Astro 40TR's with the mixamp, and I was only using the Game One's by themselves. WOW! Here is a list of the Pros and Cons, but there is really not any serious Cons. PROS: - Incredible Sound Stage: These are open back which allows for a larger sound stage. I don't know if I ever heard a sound stage so fantastic, I have a buddy with a pair of Bose A20's for studio work and he was blown away by the Sound Stage on these. Sound stage is what expands the sound within the headset and makes the environment seem real. - Incredible Imaging: The imaging, which is what determines the accuracy of sound direction, is highly impressive. Paired with the excellent sound stage these headphones are ridiculous. In games where sound is crucial these will excel highly. I started a custom game with 6 people in CoD Blackout and had them all run behind me and around me, as I ran, and was able to tell where all of them were and a very good rough estimate of how far they were in distance. In fact I had 2 people run in a straight line behind each other at different distances and I could still tell it was 2 people thanks to the stage and imaging. - Incredible Mid, Treble, and Harmonic Distortion: Sounds are crystal clear without any distortion. This headset produces a neutral natural sound that is intended by the song producers or game developers. It is as real and alive as you will get from a gaming headset, it is studio quality. - Very Comfortable: With memory foam velour pads and open-back they are relatively breathable and you won't suffer from boiling hot ears and can survive long gaming sessions. Volume: The volume goes very high through the 3.5 mm jack on a controller, in fact way higher then your ears can probably handle. Volume is not an issue. At high volumes sounds remained as crystal clear as they did on lower volumes. Mic: The mic is very clear and has a huge frequency range on it for lows and highs. It also features noise cancellation and works well. The mute is controlled by simple rotating the mic upwards and downwards, making it very convenient; similar to the Stealth 700's. You don't need any special adapter to control the volume or mute feature on a console controller. It is plug and play. Lightweight: I was surprised when I first received it to notice it was very lightweight for the tech that was inside. Goes well with the comfort aspect. CONS: - Bass: The bass is great, don't get me wrong, but it's not going to kick like some other headsets. This is mainly because it is an OPEN BACK headset which gives it a huge sound stage but doesn't have the closed back to make the bass vibrate. If you expect your ears to vibrate from bass these won't give that, but they will leave you satisfied on the bass level. - Plastic: The headset is made from plastic which is a bit of a let down from a high-end audiophile company. However, it does have metal around all the hinges and where it is warranted. The plastic is high-grade and very durable. - Isolation/Leakage: The headset has a low isolation/leakage rating because it is OPEN BACK. This means it is slightly easier for you to hear noises in your environment and easier for people around you to hear whatever you're playing or listening to. However, with the volume moderately high it drowns out any outside sound from leaking into your ears, mainly because the sound stage is so massive and makes contact through-out the entire pinna. Conclusion: This is a AUDIOPHILE GRADE GAMING HEADSET. Sennheiser is an audiophile company that is in business to produce sound that is as perfect as possible. That should sum up your answer. You're not buying a Turtle Beach, HyperX, Plantronic, Astro, etc. You're buying a truly and fair priced high-end headset that delivers truly superb sound at an unprecedented level. You won't ever go back once you get one of these on your head. Advice? Buy them 100%. P.S: I HIGHLY recommend these over the Game Zeros! Closed back are NOT good for gaming and are over hyped by Pros because they need high isolation while in noisy game tournaments when there are crowds screaming. Open back is ALWAYS better for proper sound. Go research it yourself! Only buy the closed back versions if you have a very noisy environment that you game in (I.E Kids screaming, etc).

Great headset for PC or console gaming

I use this headset to game on PC, PS4, Xbox One, WiiU and PS Vita. The sound is completely natural. Meaning that there are no added effects or sounds other than what the game is offering, so you get to hear the game exactly how the developer intended you to. I also own b&w P7's which are superior to this product in every way except gaming, IMO Sennheiser really nailed what they set out to do with this headset. It all comes back to that natural sound these offer and the great mic. You will need a separate adapter PCV 05, if you want to use the mic on Xbox live or PSN. It's $15 and converts the Y connector ( mic & audio) to a single plug so you can plug into the Dualshock4, xbox one controller, wiiu gamepad, or vita and use voice chat. You will also need the Xbox one chat adapter to plug into if using microsofts console. This headset is a tank. Its light weight, but very solid (plastic) and even though it hasn't happened I know it could take a drop to a hard floor and not be damaged. The mic is off when raised, you simply lower the mic to turn it on and chat away. There is a volume wheel on the right side of the headset. This is one of my favorite features just for the ease of use, you won't realize how much you will use this until you start using the product, at least I didn't. The volume on the wheel adjusts the sound and chat from 40-100%. You can't turn the sound off with the dial alone. If I'm not going to be using voice chat I plug into my reciever using the supplied larger plug. I do notice a difference in sound. It sounds better than when using them plugged into a controller. It has more bass and can be turned up louder, but you can't use the mic. So the sound quality of this headset is somewhat determined by the source of the audio and the power it outputs. That being said, they still sound very good while plugged directly into the controllers I listed. Almost forgot to mention how comfortable these are. The plush velvet ear pads are very soft and flexible. They feel great around your ears and pressing against your head for hours is a non issue. You forget your wearing them after awhile. These are open, so you can hear everything going on around you, they also leak sound, so others can hear them somewhat. I'm probably forgetting something but this is a long read already. If you've made it this far thanks for reading and if you couldn't tell, I definitely recommend these for any gamer looking for a quality headset.

There's tons of decisions when it comes to headphones. Open or closed backs, over the ear or earbud styles, brands, gaming vs studio, etc. Having had purchasing a couple of gaming set brands over the last year I can say that I have been disappointed with the reliability and performance of these sets. Months of using cheap($25) speakers I was really craving for the immersive sense of sound that headphone provide. So the research was on. Do I go the $70-$100 bells and whistle gadgetry gaming sets or that of company that know sounds. Well I went with a gaming brand again . Needless to say despite the glowing reviews once again bit sub-par set that was shorting out right out of the box. Back to the store. So I start researching stuidio sets. Going back and forth between brands and open or closed backs and narrow the list down with Sennheiser G4me One leading the bunch. With the current price drop to $155 it was a no brainer. I'm no audiophile but the do not disappoint. Sound is crisp and clear(even using the onboard alc1150). Bass is subtle but perfect hitting so many tones. Comfort, I forget they are on and personally I think they are a classy looking headset. The flat black with the red trim adds just enough game to the set without making them super gaudy. Matter of fact if it wasn't for the mic these could easily be worn out. Saying that the mic doesn't even look that bad it's just rather large. If you're looking for a high quality mic/set combo that puts its resources in sound and comfort, look no further. It's about the best it gets at this price range.

I tried many other headsets before I finally gave the Sennheiser G4me One a try (despite the stupid sounding name). Wow! What a refreshing experience. Most gaming headsets have a bias towards heavy, boomy bass which really ruins the sound, especially if you listen to music. This headset has a very natural and clean sound with a good balance of bass, mid, and highs. The microphone also provides excellent quality and noise cancellation. It makes an audible click when you mute it. It's fairly light and comfortable for a long gaming session, although I wouldn't say it was the most comfortable headset I've used. The open ear design really makes the Sennheiser shine. It creates a more airy less closed in sound environment and Makes the song or game feel more expansive. Voice communication is fantastic. The voices of my teammates sound so much clearer through this headset. . Another benefit of the open ear design is that you can actually hear yourself talking in the microphone (which you can't in a closed design). There are no gimmicks and no frills with this headset (other than its name). What you get is a headset worthy of an audiophile who also plays games. I have no doubt this will last me for a good long while.

During my search for a new headset, I tried about a half dozen different pairs, and this set was BY FAR the best. Pros: - Tight, but comfortable fit (can wear for hours and hours straight) - Detachable cable - Comes with short 4 Pole 3.5mm cable (good for Xbox one/ PS4 Controllers mobile phone) - Comes with long dual 3.5mm cable (good for PC) - On ear volume control - Auto Mute mic when boom is flipped up. This is great when used with a controller that doesn't have on board volume adjustments - Incredible audio quality - Open back design give a fantastic sound stage, and for a father like me, allows me to hear my baby monitor, even with the headset on. - Decent Mic Cons: - Detachable cable is proprietary - Non Detachable Mic. Not a deal breaker, but a shame since the audio quality is so good, these could easily be used as standard headphones. Other thoughts: While the Mic is good and is perfectly acceptable for its purpose, it is not as good as many online reviews you may find. Bass is a tad on the low side. Conclusion: If this headset fits your budget, and you don't plan to dedicate this headset to listening bass heavy music, this is a very hard headset to beat.

I work from home and bought this primarily to use for making iPhone calls from my phone. Because my daughters tend make a lot of noise in the background, I wanted a headset that can minimize the background noise so people on the other end of the line won't pick up that noise when I'm on the phone. On that front -- this works pretty well. I do feel like the earpiece/speaker is not as loud as I would like it to be so I tend to pump the volume as high as it will allow me to make sure I can hear the people on the other end of the line during phone calls. But if I use it to just watch shows (Netflix, Hulu, etc) from my iPhone, I have no issues with the sound. If you're using this on your mobile phone like I am, you'll need to purchase a separate adaptor so that the mic works for your phone calls. The adaptor that comes with this headset when used on your mobile phone will work only for the earpiece but not for the microphone.

They are lightweight, very comfortable for small to large ears, and the open design means that you can keep them on for a long time without discomfort. Noticeably missing are the lows, but in the end of the day these are gaming headphones, not music, and they get low enough that music isn't bad and explosions are still powerful, but if you're coming from a pair of bass heavy Turtle Beach headphones you'll notice it right away. They are lightweight but still have enough weight to be sturdy and durable enough, but I highly recommend getting a headset stand to protect your investment. They come with the PC pink and green connections, as well as a shorter 3.5 cord for you xBox One or PS4. This headset IS stereo, but on both PC and xBox sounded like surround sound to me.

This is my second pair, first pair the braided cord was kinked at purchase to it eventually ripped the wires, returned via best buy warranty and purchased another one. Great quality, good mic, definitely get the open air one (this model versus the game zero). I used to always use the closed ones for the bass but the open air is so much more comfortable, no sweating. Sound quality is significantly more lifelike due to the open stage, first time i put them on i was literally looking around and out the window for where the sound was coming from before i realized it was from the headphones. I wear these headphones 16 hours a day with no issues.

The velvet cups made my ears sweat almost immediately. The sound quality was good, but not really any better than the various $100 headsets out there. And the fact that they're open didn't really help all that much. You can hear yourself speaking to a degree, but once there's audio coming through, I found myself shouting to hear myself. They're pretty barebones otherwise. There's no mute button or any kind of inline controls, the microphone isn't removable or even adjustable beyond swiveling up and down. They also fit a bit tight, which doesn't help when they're already very hot. There are better choices out there for sure, especially for the price.

I am no audiophile but I got these as an upgrade from a Hyper X. Now, first thing is they dont have the boomy bass of many gaming headsets. What this set does have is extreme clarity! It still has bass and you can get more if you are good with EQ or settings on the sound card. I had to tweak with this set quite a bit at first but now that I have it right, it is amazing. The mic is also top of the line in my opinion. Very clear and huge upgrade over the HyperX mic. I'm not bashing the HyperX as that is a great set too, this is just better.

I use the Sennheiser headphones with my Xbox One playing video games. The sound is great and I'm gold my voice comes in clear over the microphone. I've warn them for up to 5 hours at a time and they are comfortable, but my head gets hot in that time and they do fit snugly to your head so some people may find that irritating over time. I've used them for as long as 6 hours in one stretch before my controller died (controller has lithium-ion rechargeable batteries. Overall happy with the purchase.

Sennheiser makes some very high quality headsets. This one is pretty solid, good sound, nice detail, pretty open soundstage. The mic is nice, feels very solid, and mutes when rotated up. The only issue with the headset is that some extended low bass notes sometimes produce a tiny little vibration rattle. It doesn't happen often, and it seems to be resolved by removing the inner ear cloth dust covers. Anyway, good gaming headset.

I got this awesome headset for a reasonably good price. Everyone knows Sennheiser makes quality headsets. I wasn't disappointed with the quality of sound and built quality. You just have to adjust your EQ sounding on your operating system manually to improve sound quality the way you like. Mic is pretty decent. I recommend this headset

Let me start by saying these game one headset on ps4 are incredible. I’m sure it’s even better on pc but for a console it gets the job done plus more. Sound is crisp and comfy. The Mic is best in the market period. FYI just make sure to purchase small adapter for PS4 remote and your set.

First, things first. I have a huge head, and it is hard to find a headset to fit comfortably. This headset is one of the most comfortable headsets that I have ever worn. The sound coming out of this headset is very clean, and I found myself using them for general music consumption and hardcore gaming.

Headsets tend to lack sound quality but this is as good as it gets for a headset. Far better than your turtle beaches, and other pure gaming brands. Mic works very well as well. If you are willing to pay for it, it's one of the best headsets available.
