Look, I only got this 4K disc because the bluray was sold out. Now for the movie review...it was an okay movie, not enough KUNG FU action for me. The picture was fine, but the Surround sound was EXCELLENT. But alas, I have to sell this movie cause it wasn't good enough for me to keep in my collection.

Definitely a different kind of storytelling. I loved every minute of it.

I enjoyed the movie , it was entertaining and loved the fight scenes.

First and foremost, the 4k transfer is gorgeous. The detail is intricate and the scale slides from the minute all the way to the grand. This is what UHD is all about. The film is almost monochromatic with pops of color added for emphasis and it works. The Dolby Atmos soundtrack rocked my home theater system. I would go so far as to consider it a reference audio track. The movie itself was decently good. It's not up there with "Hero" or "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" but it holds it own. With plenty of action, political drama and intrigue. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to any Asian cinema fans out there.

I was a big fan of Zhang Yimou. I normally bought his movie without hesitation. But this story line is all tangled up, nothing makes sense. The fight scenes are should I say... over the top in a bad way. Guess I should be more careful when I see a new movie from Zhang Yimou from now on.

The visuals look great, pretty interesting movie. Worth picking up.

The black and white-ish style is very unique. A big plus if you have some Chinese history/culture background to appreciate the movie more. Highly recommended.

THE MOVIE WAS DEPICTED AS A GOOD DRAMA , WITH LOTS OF ACTION PACKED IN THE STORYLINE. THE UMBRELLA WEAPON WAS NEW TO THIS ACTION PACKED MOVIE, AND SHOWED HOW THE RESOURCEFULNESS OF THE LADY WAS ABLE TO TEACH THE SHADOW , HOW TO FIGHT AGAINST THE GENERAL.

This will test your black levels in your tv. Great visuals but only nuanced in upgrade compared to the fantastic bluray due to the color palate.

I was hooked from the start to the end of this film! A very captivating story plus black and gray graphics make it appealing to watch.

Zhang Yimou delivers once again. Another work of art to add to the list!!! Once the story gets rolling, it delivers through the end.

A wonderfully engaging story. Terrific acting and the use of black, white, and red colors is mesmerizing and lush. Loved it.

this movie is something else, if you dont want to buy it i understand but at least rent it. Its most see, what a great movie

the director who did hero with jet lee did this but if your looking for a movie to compare this to your best bit is the first batman movie with it dark screen shot. the movie is more story driven than action.

A good movie with a good story line. I highly recommend for all viewers who like Chinese movies.

I like it and very cool fighting with umbrellas swords. I am enjoying few Asian movies.

The 4K graphics could have been better. The story-line was up and down, some good scenes, some bad, not in the same discussion as "Hero" or "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon"

it has everything amazing fights and visuals that we dont get in American movies
