Probably the best of the trilogy!

The graphics and gameplay are very good. The combat is cut down a bit from previous games and the exploration is definitely cranked up, much akin to the original Tomb Raider game. From rock climbing to flash floods to earthquakes to swimming sequences with piranhas and eels--the world is trying to kill you. Lara must overcome these obstacles in order to become the tomb raider we all know from the past. The puzzles and tombs give good challenges and can be real brain teasers, especially depending on the difficulty you choose to play on. The cutscenes are great and the story is satisfying overall. You can tell Lara is the primary focus, as most other character models often look less detailed and look a lot alike from one another, especially when standing near her in a cutscene. Playing the game straight through is probably a 10-12hr experience, but if you're like me and explore everything, collect all the relics, documents, etc, complete all the tombs and crypts, and so on, you may very well find yourself putting over 50hrs into the game. Amazing game!

Final chapter in the Tomb Raider Trilogy

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is part 3 of the new Tomb Raider Trilogy. Story wise this is perhaps Laura's darkest theme. Dealing with the ramifications of taking artifacts, Croft must come to grips of her actions and how they effect the local population. The game play is great if you have played any of the 2 previous Tom Raider. The climbing, bow play and exploration are good. There are moments when travel feels a bit constricted and forced cut scenes interrupt your explorations. I would say this is 3rd in overall terms of the trilogy. That said it is a good game and great story. If you enjoyed the previous 2 Tom Raiders (or exploration games such as Uncharted) you will like this one.

    A Fitting End

If you're a fan of the two previous Tomb Raider games, this is a continuation and fitting end. It doesn't revolutionize anything, but it doesn't need to. It just needs to provide an end to the creation of the current Lara Croft. The gameplay is similar to the previous games, with more emphasis on stealth. The game is more puzzle heavy than previous entries as well. The story is generally decent, though the weakest out of the three games. If you like Tomb Raider or action/adventure games then this is an easy recommendation.

If you enjoyed either of the first two games in the Tomb Raider reboot series, this game will not disappoint. The story and gameplay are really good, but not quite at game of the year levels (e.g. Spider-Man or God of War). Gameplay- bow feels great, but gunplay is slightly janky. Puzzles are at the right level of difficulty without being too frustrating or easy. Challenge Tombs are great. Story- Serviceable. Good voice acting and facial animation. Lara can be somewhat annoying throughout the game. Another complaint is the lack of variety in locations, most of the game takes place in jungles and caverns. At the same time, the Mayan apocalypse theme throughout the game is intriguing and unique. Solid 8 out of 10 from me. All action adventure video game fans should pick this one up, especially if you wait for a sale.

Gorgeous Game that Improves on Puzzles

Rise of the Tom Raider was my favorite game I played in the past year, so I was really excited to pick up the sequel. There's a bit less combat, but the stealth is more excited, and the puzzles are much more complex (much more Legend of Zelda-like). This is also the best-looking game I've played in the past several years. The graphics are so lush and breathtaking that I just love walking around checking out the scenery.

Still a great game that looks and sounds fantastic. I do feel like this game doesn’t feel as “open” as the first 2 games. The enemies are kinda dumb and too easy to take out. Tombs are pretty fun!

Ah, Lara Croft. She's back in this next installment of Tomb Raider, instead this time she's trudging through mud and dangerous jungle territory of Latin America exploring the ruins of the ancient natives. This time, Lara is on a race against the clock to stop the world from ending. The mechanics of this game is pretty much the same as the ones before. The graphics look absolutely STUNNING on 4K and even if you don't have it, it's a noticeable difference from Rise. Story wise, the feel of Lara is different than before. Back in the first, she was innocent turned ruthless killer, and the second she turned to adventurous explorer seeking the unknown, but now... it's like she's becoming so obsessed with the hunt that she's almost a stone cold killer. Maybe that's what she is, maybe that's what she isn't. But the character development in this game was a lead up from the previous two and it's just so well rounded, because Lara Croft is so HUMAN in the mistakes she makes. I'm slowly making my way through the game and it's just one wild ride with lots of twists and turns. The Croft Steelbook edition is for the hardcore fans. 7 EXTRA tombs to explore, 3 art cards, AND the digital download to the complete soundtrack of the game.

The Narrative and the graphics are jaw dropping!!! This game is even more amazing and beautiful than the last. The story is darker, the graphics are beautiful, the puzzles are more challenging, and the more you discover the environment of the game the more you will discover about Laura Croft.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a great game overall. It has an interesting story, beautiful locations, and a likeable protagonist. This version comes with the season pass for extras including outfits and story expansions. It is definitely worth getting on Xbox One X as it has the ability of being played with higher graphical fidelity in 4K or a bit lower fidelity with 60 FPS. Xbox version also has Dolby Atmos audio support. This version also comes with a steelbook and collectible art cards. A digital soundtrack was also included after linking my email address in game. Worth the full price to me, but the game has gone on sale often including this edition so I would wait for a sale if you can find one

The third game in the relaunched Tomb Raider series saw a new studio taking the helm, but you don't notice the difference. For fans of the first two, jumping into the third game is seamless. Sure, there's new abilities, changed menus, and some different controls but it all feels very familiar while adding new things to keep Lara's adventuring interesting. The graphics are gorgeous. So much attention is paid to detailing the environments. You can rappel and swim underwater which adds great verticality to the maps. And I think the story is the best of the three. Highly recommended.

I had high expectations for this after the first 2 games in this reboot series were so good. Shadow ends up being pretty good, but many little things seem to drag it down from being as good as it could have been. -The graphics are absolutely incredible, especially on Xbox One X, and the gameplay/exploring tombs/puzzles is great. -The story is okay; some of it is weird and doesn't seem very cohesive. Lara seems a bit unlikable for some reason, mostly in the beginning. You start to wonder why Jonah puts up with her. -The merchants, ability upgrades, weapon upgrades, and outfit crafting systems kind of suck and are not balanced well. There are way too many weapons than necessary - there's no point in buying them. A lot of the upgrades do not provide any notable changes or are unneeded. There are a ton of outfits to craft using animal pelts. Most of them provide small perks, but they are mostly useless, so the only reason to change outfits is cosmetic. However, you reach a lengthy portion in the game where you come to this one large area that you must spend a lot of time in and return to over and over again throughout the game, and you are forced to use a specific outfit there and cannot use any of your other ones. It seems very dumb to offer this personalization and then take it away from the player. -One of the big changes in this game from the past 2 is the introduction of huge town areas that you can walk around in and talk to NPCs and buy things, etc. This is kind of a cool idea, but some of them are quite frankly too big and it is easy to get lost (ie: the area you are forced to use the one outfit in). There also does not seem to be a system to "gray out" NPCs that you already talked to, so you find yourself forgetting who you already met and waste time hearing the same conversations. -There is a fairly large difficulty spike maybe halfway through the game where you meet a bunch of feral enemies and you get swarmed very quickly. The combat in this game is not great - it is clearly a game built to rely heavily on stealth. The stealth is actually very fun, but once you get noticed, everyone pounces on you and you are dead unless you can manage to hide. It is a weird shock when they throw a sudden combat scenario at you that has no stealth alternative and you must survive against waves of enemies. -You find lots of scrolls, letters, and artifacts from exploring. These are fun to find as you explore, but there are some issues. Everything is voiced by Lara reading them in a somewhat bored tone. Also, many letters are part of a cohesive "story," such as an old expedition of an adventurer. The problem is you find them out of order, and also from multiple stories at once, so it is hard to follow what is going on. I know it makes more logical sense that you wouldn't find the letters in the order that they were written, but it is still confusing. -Despite all of this, I still really enjoyed my time with this game. As I said, the exploring, puzzles, tomb design, and graphics are all really good. I would give it a solid 7.5/10.

Overall sticks to what you're used to from the last couple tomb raiders, but I feel like buying the upgrades is a little less rewarding, rather than having to explore and find them. Feel like the game has a good story but moves along rather quickly if you don't want to explore much, but the exploration is also somewhat limited. Great graphics, fun game.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is a fitting conclusion to the revamped origin of Lara Croft. The developers crafted an interesting narrative and the gameplay picks up where the previous two entries left off. There is a greater emphasis on stealth this time around. The ability to augment the difficulty of the game piece by piece is a new and interesting touch. A touch that I would like to see other developers explore in their games. If you are a fan of this series, then you owe it to yourself to play this one. However, I would strongly recommend playing the first two before jumping into this one.

Each release in the current Tomb Raider series has offered bigger and more challenging game play. This installment continues that trend. Visually stunning (even in 1080p). Puzzles are a bit more complicated and diverse which is a plus. Can’t wait to play in 4D which means upgrades to my Screen and Xbox one.

this game has great challenging tombs that really make this a tomb raider game. The Location used is interesting. Despite having heavy weapons (shotguns, machine guns, pistols) to use, the bow and arrow is still the best. If you love stealth this game added more ways to take down enemies in a exciting way.
