The game has a really nice physical presentation. It’s great to be able to have it on a shelf. However, the included instruction manual is pretty lacking. If you’re a big fan of Shantae this is worth getting, but if you aren’t diehard going digital might not be a bad idea. The game itself is fun. It’s great for kids or anyone who likes 2D games similar to Metroid. The graphics are gorgeous and the music is fun and catchy. The game also has a wonderful sense of control and the movement options are great. The only thing that really brings this game down for me is it’s difficulty, it’s way too easy. Shantae and the Seven Sirens is a fun 2d platformer with a great sense of style that is hampered down by its lack of challenge. The physical edition is a great option for collectors but is very disappointing in terms of its instruction manual.

The struggle to go to stop and shop and get a 30 dollar steam card was real because this game was WAYYY less generous with price than Half-Genie Hero. Shantae and the Seven Sirens might be overlooked, but trust me, this game is amazing. For me, the pacing is perfect, the fully animated cutscenes with voice acting are great, and the cherry on top is the open-world gameplay. Some people point to Jake Kaufman being absent in this game for the lack of soundtrack, but this soundtrack is a banger. The themes are so bubbly and retro-themed it warms my heart listening to them. The other half-genie abilities you fuse with yourself are genius, as a healing one that heals you and brings plants to life to solve puzzles. I give this game a 9.3/10, the only reason it isn't perfect being a moderately large price tag (at least it's not 40), boring parts with the story, and too much backtracking.

Very fun game. The difficulty is probably the only weak point for this entry. Art music and story are all well done and the return to more classic metroidvania was definitely nice.

I was surprised. This game is a lot of fun and I’m glad Best Buy decided to pick it up from LR. It’s a franchise I knew nothing about prior to getting this on PS4. The map system is a much needed improvement over previous games. A pretty great action Metroidvania platformer!

Shantae and the Seven Sirens is a game that comprises several classic elements of the series to be more accessible and experiment a bit with its traditional formula. Now is this good or bad? Honestly, it will depend a lot on your previous experience with the work of WayForward. New fans of the series, those who started with Half Genie-Hero will appreciate a more traditional side of this character. While all of us who have followed Shantae for almost two decades find flaws and positives in Seven Sirens. At the end of the day, this game accomplishes its mission: to be fun. It does not seek to elevate the narrative of the medium, or redefine a genre, or the way we interact with the medium. Shantae and the Seven Sirens can go head-to-head with Pirate’s Curse, but at the end of the day the experience doesn't feel as smooth as the 3DS title. Regardless, Seven Sirens only seeks to be fun, and despite their mistakes, that's what matters.

Shantae and the Seven Sirens is a great follow-up to Shantae and the Half-Genie Hero (Shantae's first HD outing). The game looks and plays great on PS4, and then supports 4K on both the PS4 Pro and PS5 with a very smooth 60fps frame rate. I double dipped and grabbed this on Switch as well, where it runs smoothly at 1080p docked and 720p in handheld mode. It's great to see this game finally on consoles after its brief stint as an Apple exclusive.

Shantae have been famous for the company game developer: Wayforward in 2D platformer and it has puzzle gameplay as well. But, her hair is the weapon to kill enemies. Fun game !

A good option for those who like to collect physical games. It's representation is above average for a physical copy of a PS4 game, and it's nice to have the opportunity to purchase games like this that would otherwise be unavailable. The game itself is also a fun and well done platformer.

The 5th installment to the Shantae series is excellent with animated openings and new powers to explore with! Stylized like the last one (no pixel graphics, sorry!) it looks clean and runs smooth. Only complaint is loading time between major areas felt like a long wait when you're trying to move through the map quickly. Can't wait until the next one!
