    Another Great Shark Vacuum Product

I am definitely becoming a dedicated Shark product fan. I am seduced by their clever, innovative and functional product designs, excellent product build quality, and outstanding product performance. The IP3000 Series (Model # IP3251) Power Detect Clean & Empty Cordless Stick Vacuum that I recently received is no exception. It is thoughtfully designed for great functionality, convenience and durability. It is relatively lightweight and extremely easy to assemble and setup with 3 main pieces for the vacuum itself - just click together the MultiFLEX Wand into the powered Floor Nozzle, then click in the Handheld Vacuum portion on top; then assemble the 2 main pieces of the Dock portion by lining up and clicking in the Charging Post. Add the provided Odor Neutralizer Technology Cartridge to the Dock in the space provided by lining up the arrows and twisting until it clicks, then by setting it to the desired fragrance strength level which are marked on the cartridge. Once both the Vacuum and Dock portions are assembled, set the Vacuum into the Charging Post's cradle, plug in the unit and let the battery fully charge. Once fully charged, the LED on the side of the battery will have stopped blinking and when you remove the Vacuum from the cradle and press the Power Button on the top of the Handheld, the display will light up with a power strength indicator box with 4 outside sections. As you use the Vacuum and the power is depleted, sections of this indicator will disappear letting you know how much more you can vacuum until you need a recharge. Or, if you desire, you can purchase an interchangable backup battery and just trade them out and keep cleaning. . The Vacuum has 3 modes: Eco, Detect and Boost Mode. The Eco Mode saves energy and maximizes run time; the Boost Mode maximizes vacuum suction; and the Detect Mode is what this machine is all about by detecting the amount of dirt you are encountering and automatically adjusting the suction accordingly. The Detect Mode does an amazing job and gives you an intuitive visual indicator as to whether or not you have successfully removed all the dirt by shining a deep purple light when the dirt is heavy, a lighter purple light when it is being removed, and a white light when the dirt is gone. This system keeps you from dwelling too long in an area that no longer needs more vacuuming and keeps you moving. There are many features that help speed up your vacuuming time. The flexibility of both the MultiFLEX Wand, which will easily bend when needed to get into difficult to reach places, and the low profile and excellent swivel ability of the power Floor Nozzle really helps you get under and around close areas without having to move tons of furniture. Then, of course, there is the Clean & Empty feature of the Dock, which with the placement of the Vacuum into the cradle and a quick flick of a switch from Quiet Mode, which allows the Vacuum to charge without evacuating the Vacuum's Dust Cup, to Auto-Empty Dock Charging, which, with a Whooosh!, empties the Dust Cup automatically. With following the directions and doing proper suggested maintenance, this awesome Vacuum will do a fantastic job for years to come. I highly recommend this Shark - PowerDetect™ Clean & Empty Cordless Stick Vacuum!

Wow. Boy, do I love this vacuum so far. I have 2 long hair dachshunds and while they’re so cute, I constantly have little tumbleweeds of hair on my floors daily! Vacuuming is an everyday chore in my home and I am excited to have this one use. Out of the box it took approximately 7 minutes to put it all together including placing the odor neutralizer puck into the main tank that all the dirt and debris empties into on the base. It appeared to be fully charged out of the box but it did say to charge it before using. I allowed it to sit on the charger for approximately 30 mins. When I turned it on, the first thing I saw were all the pretty lights. LOL. The handle shows speed info as well as battery life info. Having the 3 speed options was nice but, I honestly prefer to stay in the “detect” mode because I have carpet, vinyl and wood flooring all on the same floor of my house. In detect mode, the speed goes up and down depending on the need for suction due to dirt. You will also notice the lights on the vacuum change as you move around. The lights indicate your dirt level. I didn’t understand why they were changing at first but noticed it shows a dark purple when your area is very dirty, the light turns into almost a lavender color when it’s not as heavy with dirt and then will be white when it’s clean. While I’m sure this has an impact on the battery life, I was able to vacuum my entire first floor taking me 31 minutes. When I finished, I had a little less than half of my battery left. After all the hair was cleaned up, I was pleasantly surprised to have hardly any residual hair in the roller of the vacuum. This definitely is one of my favorite options on this vacuum. Not having to cut the hair off the vacuum roller after was so nice. Now for the fun part. After I vacuumed up enough hair to make another dog, I placed the vacuum back on the dock and at first nothing happened. I went from pure excitement to what the heck? Why didn’t this thing empty out like the box said it would? Well, user errors happen all the time and we will call this instance just that. You have to make sure the vacuum is on the base properly in the correct spot and that’s when the magic happens. Not going to lie, I jumped when it first turned on to clean the tank from the noise. LOL. This is my first vacuum that sucks the dirt into another holding tank when you dock it and while I knew what to expect, the noise caught me off guard. Overall, this vacuum has met every expectation I had for it. From the ease of changing the attachments, to great battery life, to even having a quiet mode which will reduce the noise of the vacuum while using it down to the nice LED lights that make vacuuming in darker areas super easy. I had a Samsung Jet pet vacuum before and this Shark PowerDetect blows it out of the water! It’s worth every single cent and I’m so happy to own it.

If you like cordless vacuums that require you to take multiple breaks to recharge while cleaning and allow the dust to blow back into the air when emptying the dirt canister, move along! This is not the vacuum for you since we can vacuum our 8 rooms in our house along with using the attachments for dusting and have the power to spare! The base unit looks a bit unwieldy, but it’s very light and balanced. This vacuum features DuoClean Detect™ and PowerDetect features. The floor attachment has 2 brushes in the floor attachment that roll forward and backward. This assists with picking up debris as well as limits the classic hair wrap-around issues that always require attention. The power head can detect dirt, edges, hard floors, and which direction you are pushing or pulling to boost cleaning. The reverse feature allows for a lot more cleaning ability on hard surfaces especially for spilled products such as rice and salt! The stated run time is up to 70 minutes due to the built-in power management that adjusts the power for the task. The top portion of the unit has an LED display that shows the battery status, which cleaning mode has been selected by the trigger (ECO, Detect, or Boost), and the out ring changes color based on whether or not dirt has been detected, is being cleaned or indicates when the floor/carpet is clean. The vacuum comes with an articulating extension wand that can lock in many positions to facilitate cleaning and you can attach the combo duster/crevice tool or pet/multi-tool to it or directly to the power portion. When placed in the included charging rack, the vacuum will automatically empty into a sealed storage bin that also has a replaceable odor-neutralizing insert. This is done by a suction mechanism in the storage unit that empties the dust bin which has been great considering everyone in our house has dust allergies and we’ve noticed a big difference. The emptying process takes less than a minute but It’s a bit noisy. There is a quiet mode where you can turn off this feature until it is needed. Once the base storage is full it easily removes for emptying. The vacuum has a 5-year warranty for peace of mind, but in my experience, I’ve never had a Shark product fail. So we have a cordless vacuum with performance that is on par or exceeds my older corded model, that cleans the house and the built-in dust bin helps keep it clean, and is lightweight and stores easily!

We have 1 shorthair dog. This $500 vacuum has all the bells and whistles but constantly clogs due to poor design for picking up pet hair. What good are the lights, the master dust bin, all the modes....if it cannot pick up some dog hair?

The Vacuum That Thinks for Itself

I've tried out a bunch of vacuum cleaners over the years, and I've got to tell you, this Shark PowerDetect Clean & Empty Cordless Stick Vacuum is a real game-changer for household cleaning. Let me tell you why it’s earned a solid five stars from me. First Impressions and Setup From the moment you take it out of the box, you can tell this isn't just another stick vacuum. The build quality is seriously impressive—everything feels solid and well put together. What really grabbed my attention was the cleverly designed auto-empty base station, complete with spots for all the attachments. No more digging through closets to find that crevice tool! Setting up the vacuum was super easy. Everything clicks together so naturally, and the charging dock also serves as the auto-empty station. It's great to see a product where the designers clearly thought about the whole user experience, from setup to storage. Performance and Features The standout feature has to be the PowerDetect technology. When I tried it out on different floors, like hardwood and tile, the vacuum adjusted its suction power all on its own based on the surface and debris type. There was no need to manually switch settings—it just knew what to do! The suction power is seriously impressive, picking up everything from fine dust to larger debris. The auto-empty system is really slick, too. Once you're done cleaning, just dock it, and it empties itself into the base station. Say goodbye to messy dust bin emptying or clouds of dust! Plus, the base station has a good-sized capacity, so you can go through several cleaning sessions before needing to empty it. The Little Things That Matter The battery life lasts long enough for your usual cleaning sessions. The LED headlights are great for spotting debris in darker spots. Maneuvering around furniture and corners is a breeze, and it's quieter than many other options. Plus, its compact design makes storage super easy, and the attachments are actually useful and well-designed! Pros: - Intelligent surface detection and power adjustment - Convenient auto-empty base station with attachment storage - Excellent build quality - Strong suction performance - Easy maneuverability - Well-thought-out attachment system - User-friendly design and operation Cons: - Premium price point (though justified by features) - Base station requires some floor space - Initial setup takes a bit of time to get everything arranged Final Verdict If you're looking for a high-end cordless vacuum that takes the hassle out of cleaning, the Shark PowerDetect is absolutely worth considering. Its combination of intelligent power adjustment, convenient auto-empty features, and thoughtful design touches makes this vacuum stand out in a crowded market. While it's not the cheapest option available, the features and performance justify the investment. The auto-empty base station with integrated attachment storage is a particularly brilliant touch that shows Shark understands what matters to consumers. No more lost attachments or messy dust bin emptying – it's these quality-of-life improvements that make the difference between a good vacuum and a great one. Given my experience with primarily hardwood and tile floors, I can confidently give this vacuum five stars. Shark has clearly put significant thought into creating a product that not only cleans effectively but also makes the whole process as convenient as possible for the user.

    Powerful Cordless Vacuum Cleaner

The Shark PowerDetect Clean & Empty Cordless Stick Vacuum came with the following items in the box: Handheld Vacuum MultiFlex Wand Motorized Floor Nozzle Floor Charger Stand Charging Post Odor Neutralizer Cartridge Extra Handheld Vacuum Post-Motor Filter Duster Crevice Tool Pet Multi-Tool Single Accessory Storage Dock –Initial Impressions– My initial impression was that the vacuum cleaner was slightly heavier than I expected but I think some of that is because the box included a Floor Charger Stand which added weight to the whole setup. Everything seems well made. Parts clicked together and detached with precision. –Assembly and Setup– Assembly was fairly easy and simple. You attach the MultiFLEX Wand to the Motorized Floor Nozzle and the Handheld Vacuum to the Multi-FLEX Wand. Then you attach the Charging Post to the Floor Charger Stand and plug it into a wall outlet. When moving the Floor Charger Stand to a convenient wall outlet, my natural inclination was to transport the unit by grabbing the Charging Post but it easily disconnected from the Floor Charger Stand so I had to transport the unit by grabbing the base. One slightly confusing part for me was attaching the Odor Neutralizer Cartridge to the Floor Charger Stand and trying to figure out how to adjust the settings from Low to High. It seemed like adjusting the setting was the same thing as loosening or tightening the cartridge. The Floor Charger Stand has a single post for attaching the Duster Crevice Tool. I was confused that there was only one post on the dock while we received two accessories. Luckily, the package also included a Single Accessory Storage Dock which contains another post to attach the Pet Multi-Tool. It looks like the Single Accessory Storage Dock might attach to the main Floor Charger Stand but there were no instructions on how to attach it. Placing the vacuum on the Floor Charger Stand allows you to charge and empty the dustbin of the vacuum cleaner. It took about 5 hours for it to be fully charged. –Performance– I was extremely impressed with the performance of the Shark PowerDetect Clean & Empty Cordless Stick Vacuum. The suction power seemed to rival my corded vacuum cleaner but ran much quieter. I was amazed at the amount of dust it picked up from my carpets. The MultiFLEX Wand made it easy to reach and clean under my bed and other furniture. I managed to clean my living room and upstairs bedrooms with about a quarter of charge left. The PowerDetect feature seems to work really well. You can hear the suction power increase whenever it detects dirtier areas (such as under my bed which had a lot of dust) or whenever I was vacuuming near an edge. I was very impressed with this feature. You can switch modes (ECO, DETECT, or BOOST) by pressing the trigger button. I mostly stayed with using DETECT mode and occasionally switching to ECO mode if I wanted to lengthen battery life. At first, I thought the Clean & Auto Empty feature was somewhat of a gimmick because you don’t really get away with never having to empty a dustbin. You just need to do this much less frequently. However, during my experience actually using it, I am now in love with this feature. While you will eventually have to empty the Floor Charger Stand’s larger dustbin, you do this much less frequently than having to manually empty the vacuum cleaner’s smaller dustbin. Because of this feature, you typically won’t need to empty a dustbin while cleaning your entire house. And it’s really neat to see the vacuum cleaner’s dustbin automatically get emptied out into the Floor Charger Stand’s larger dustbin whenever you dock the vacuum cleaner. First you hear the Floor Charger empty out the vacuum cleaner’s smaller dustbin. Then the vacuum cleaner turns on for a little bit to try and push out any remaining dust. And finally, the Floor Charger Stand turns on again to finish the job. There is a switch on the Floor Charger Stand to enable Quiet Mode so that it doesn’t empty the dustbin and only charges whenever you dock the vacuum cleaner. Right now, I’m not sure why I would ever want to do this. –Battery Life– Battery life seems to be good. I was getting close to about 35 minutes when using a mix of ECO and Detect mode while vacuuming some very dusty carpet. I suspect using only ECO mode would get you closer to the advertised 70 minutes of charge. –Summary– Overall, I think the Shark PowerDetect Clean & Empty Cordless Stick Vacuum is an excellent cordless vacuum cleaner. Being cordless, it’s much more convenient to use than a corded vacuum cleaner. Its suction power is very impressive and rivals that of corded models. The MultiFLEX Wand allows you to easily reach and clean under furniture and other hard to reach places. I was also impressed with the flexibility of being able to convert the vacuum cleaner into a small handheld vacuum using the included accessories. Finally, I fell in love with the Clean & Auto Empty feature of this vacuum cleaner. While I initially thought this was somewhat of a gimmick, I now love the convenience of being able to vacuum my entire house without needing to empty the dustbin. Overall, I would recommend the Shark PowerDetect Clean & Empty Cordless Stick Vacuum to anyone looking for a new vacuum cleaner.

Great cordless stick vacuum for all surfaces

TL;DR - One of the best cordless stick vacuums I've used, even compared to other leading brands I've owned that cost more. The only thing keeping it from the 5th star is the lack of a smaller powered brush head for sofas and the difficulty in vacuuming on thick/heavy pile carpet, mostly due to the strong suction power. If I could give it 4.5 stars, I would. I've used the Shark PowerDetect Clean & Empty for about a week and vacuumed both carpet, tile and hardwood flooring. The power brush head does a great job of vacuuming up hair and other debris in both directions, and I find the lights on both sides of the brush head convenient. The battery lasts long enough for me to do a quick vacuum on high power for about 1500 square feet of floor area. The auto-empty function works very well and the new process where it empties the bin in two cycles works well to clear almost all of the hair and dust from the bin, although there still is a fine layer of dust left in the cup after. I appreciate the ease of use in emptying the collection bin in the base and it's nice not to have to purchase bags to refill. The design of the bin will make it easy to wash out with the garden hose outside when the time comes to clean it. Overall, this is a great cordless stick vacuum with some innovative features and design that makes quick work of fast cleanup tasks while having the battery stamina to power through a whole-house vacuum session.

I have had several Shark vacs as well as other vacs from the other major players. The latest from Shark specializes in the ability to detect dirt or ‘not clean”, dynamically. Call me skeptical but I really wanted to add a stick vac to my cleaning repertoire. I have always been jealous of my son and a few others who had these high-end competitors, mostly due to their flexibility and maneuverability of them. I liked how they get under furniture while also easily getting into and around areas that were more difficult with a corded vac. Enter the new Shark Stick Vac. Wow, this thing is impressive! Not only is it light and maneuverable but the dynamic capability to detect dirtier areas took a bit of getting used to but once you do, you can see that this vacuum can be detected when an area still has more to do. You start out and it will up the rpms of the motor for more suction as it “detects” dirt and dust. The lights on the head start out with a purplish glow while it is seeing more dirt/dust and as you vacuum over that area, the lights will turn white to indicate that it is clean now. It also does the same thing at the top of the handle. It is intuitive but also showed me how my rugs at the doors essentially were dirtier than I thought. I would have to go over those areas more times with it revving up until it turned white and the motor would go back to a normal sound. I will say that this can be a loud vacuum. Its noise is variable based on the amount of dirt/suction/speed of the motor as it is cleaning. That is really the only thing that I noted that that some people may see as a negative but compared to any other of the vacuums we have used, the difference is negligible. I think the only reason you notice is because it varies. If you are just doing hardwood floors each week for example, you most likely will hardly even notice it and it’s as quiet as any other vacuum we have tried. One of the most amazing features of this vacuum is that it can finally recognize corners and edges. I know, some of you are saying, what? What do you mean. Ok….so how many times are you vacuuming and you know that most normal floor junk will move and gravitate to the edges of the baseboards in rooms or most especially in corners. Well! They have the vacuum for you ! I have to admit that I was blown away when I moved the Shark Stick next to a baseboard that not only did the light on the side that was aligned to the baseboard light up ( and do the purple/white light) but it also greatly increased the suction on that side/corner of the vac! To ensure that everything on the edge and corner was caught! GENIOUS! I cannot tell you how many times when I was vacuuming with another vac that I was SO frustrated with it’s ability to get stuff on the edges of the baseboards. This vacuum solves that! Lastly, this has an automatic empty feature where you don’t have to touch it. You dock it after you finish, push the button and it sucks all the stuff down into a bag in the base, amazing! So far, I LOVE this Shark Stick Vac! It is my go to for quick and easy clean up. It says 70 min, I didn’t take it till it died but I got about 50 min with one section/bar left. I will try to double ck to make sure I get the full 70 min but I am loving this….i was able to get under a few things that have been neglected for months.

Powerful lightweight vacuum with extra features!

This vacuum has a lot of cool features that I like. First, I like the central bin idea (the “auto-empty” dock), second, I like the flexible arm, third I like the adjustable power settings, fourth I like that it is lightweight, and fifth I like that it has lights on the vacuum head to illuminate the area being cleaned. The auto-empty dock is not necessarily game changing, but I like it a lot. When you are finished vacuuming, you just set the stem on the dock and then it sucks in the debris and does a little air blast or something to clean out the dirt collector on the vacuum. It’s pretty loud, but there is a “night mode” setting that will turn off the auto-empty when docked. That has already come in handy when needing to run the vacuum for something early in the morning and I don’t want to wake the dead. Second, they added a neat feature called “flex-wand” that really IS game changing. Basically, the wand has a hinge in the middle so you can bend it in half to get under low furniture and cabinets without banging up the wand on your nice furniture. It works great and is a one-click button to have it fold. Third, using the finger trigger under the handle, you can switch from reg, to eco to high power modes. Sometimes you need the extra boost (like when vacuuming dog hair from the car) but sometimes you need longer run times, so you’d keep it in reg or eco mode for most things. Fourth, it’s much more lightweight than my other stick vacuum AND it is either on or off – I don’t have to hold down the trigger the entire time I’m vacuuming. It’s a little thing but I like it better than a hold down trigger. Fifth, the lights on the large vacuum head are nice and bright and illuminate the area being vacuumed. You don’t always see the stray hair and dust bunnies unless there’s a light shining on it at a low angle so it’s helpful. It comes with a odor neutralizer cartridge, but I keep it set very low as I don’t like scents. It also includes an extra filter. I had to go online to figure out where this goes, but it is used in the main vacuum part. There is one already there that you need to periodically clean with a plain water rinse, nice to have a backup. Also, there are 2 tools and what I assume is a tool storage device. The crevice tool doubles as a dusting tool, which has been great for vacuuming baseboards. There is also a “pet brush” that looks like it would be best on fabric or upholstery. There is one place on the base unit to hold one accessory, and there is a weird stand I think to mount somewhere on the base unit to hold the second accessory, but I looked online for instructions on where this thing goes, and we are just guessing because it was not clear where to install it. Overall, a really good, lightweight vacuum that does its job well and has some useful extra features not found in any other vacuums I’ve owned.

I have used a Shark cordless vacuum for several years and it is still going strong, with original battery. So, I was really looking forward to trying this new model out. Very easy to put together. The base does take up a tad bit of floor space. Thoughtful design and seems sturdily built Replaceable battery. Charging is simple as you just drop into the base, however the only indicator of charging is a little light on the battery. Would have been nice to have a better indicator. The unit is a tad top heavy but moving from hand to hand helps. Power on/off is a button on top of the handle. You have a choice of ecco, auto and power modes which are changed by pulling the trigger (seems to me these functions should be switched?). Each increases suction but reduces run time. Using auto mode, I got around 32 minutes vacuuming carpet and edges only and got 45 minutes “mixed” (carpet/hard floor). These times are consistent with my current shark, but this has a much more powerful motor and enhanced “duo” floor attachment. There is a battery indicator on the top of the handle, but it is four little ‘corners” indicating 100%, 75%, 50% and less than 25%. Why not have a timer? Seems like a big miss to me. Dirt indicator light on handle and on floor attachment is nice. I thought this may be just a gimmick, but it indicated “dirty” areas (purple light) exactly where our walk patterns are, whether hard floor or carpet – it was kind of eerie. Also, when it encounters these “dirt” areas it increases its suction. After going over these areas a couple of times the indicator light goes white – except for a couple of carpet spots where I probably need to shampoo the carpet. I did have problems using the vacuum on some of my area and throw rugs. It just wouldn’t move easily or tended to suck up the rug, even using ecco mode. However, if I tried moving vacuum in opposite direction it seem to be much easier to move? After vacuuming our main bathrooms tile floor, I used a light I have that shows any dirt. The floor was virtually spotless. Vacuum head has LED lights. I don’t vacuum in the dark but its great to be able to see under beds, etc. Another great added feature is edge cleaning. When running along the edge of a wall it senses this and turns vacuum power to the edge that is along the wall. It works on either side and indicates if “dirty” area (purple) or clean (white). I also use robot vacuums as well as other manufacturers cordless vacuums and none of these cleaned the edges like this unit does. It occasionally got a little confused if running a long a door, etc. but overall, this worked great and was the most impressive part of vacuum for me. Multi-flex wand allows you to bend the long extension to 90% to allow easy use under beds/cabinets, etc To empty you drop the unit onto the base and it opens the little “door” on the vacuum and sucks out the dirt into the base dust bin. I had to try to “dock” the unit a few times and press down hard to get it to empty. There is a lot of play when docking I would have preferred a more tactful/solid connection feeling to docking. It is very loud when emptying but there is a “switch” on the base to not empty (just charge), which is nice. You can empty the handle yourself which is good as I like to clean the handles dust bin with compressed air from time to time. The bagless design on vacuum and base is nice. But the base dirt bin is not clear so there is no way to know how full it is. Another design miss for me. Filter is easily accessed within the handle and cleaned using soap/water. 2 un-powered secondary attachments – dust crevice and a pet multi tool. The attachments can be used without the wand, allowing close-up vacuuming. Odor neutralizing “puck” that screws into base to stop odors. 5-year warranty on vacuum Overall, this is a nice step up from my current Shark and while not perfect in some design details it does clean very well, and I would recommend it.

I have owned a few Shark cordless vacuums and have been very pleased with them. After learning Shark was releasing a self-emptying PowerDetect vacuum, I had to try it. Just like my other Shark vacuums, this one came with a removable battery in case I want to purchase a replacement or spare. Setup was a breeze and after a quick charge, I was ready to clean. Setup/first impressions Since I did not read the manual, understanding the vacuum took a little time. I mostly used the self-detect option and discovered the purple light means it was detecting more dirt in the area. Once the lights on the display/sweeper head turned white, you could be sure the area is clean. I also discovered that the suction power would intensify on the side of the vacuum when near a wall to ensure no dirt was left behind. Other features I noticed, using self-detect option, was the brusher rolls slowed when on hardwood to prevent flinging dirt. When I moved back to the carpet, the roller brush automatically sped back up. Most stick vacuums can fit under furniture, but this vacuum took it to the next level. Since the vacuum head had a low profile and the shaft could bend with a push of a button, this vacuum was able to reach spots no other vacuum could. The only complaint I had was that I had to use the self-emptying feature frequently since the canister was small. Battery life The battery life is amazing. I cleaned the dinning room, living room and basement and still had a lot left (unsure of the percentage). Pros Cleaning indicator light (purple/white) Cleans all angles Self-emptying Able to fit under furniture Long battery life Auto-detect carpet/hard floor No hair around roller Cons Smaller than normal canister This is an awesome cordless vacuum. I highly recommend it and give it a 5-star rating.

Being a family that owns and has owned many vacuums, we were hesitant to try the Shark Cordless PowerDetect with Power Suction. Let's start with the assembly. The vacuum was packaged well and safely. The trouble began with assembly. I admit I was not sure of which part went where. The included instruction manual was really lacking. It was very vague and the pictures were not very clear. I wish Shark took the time to make a clear, full color set of instructions. I winded up going to the Shark website and looked at the pictures there to figure out how to assemble this thing. After visiting the website and seeing pictures, I was able to put it all together. It was not exactly sure how the vacuum was to be placed in the holder, but eventually I figured it out. I let it charge for several hours and then it was time to vacuum. This is where the vacuum shines! I was literally blown away by the suction power of this vacuum. This thing cranked and picked up so much dirt and hair. I had used a different cordless stick vacuum over the area first. When I used the Shark, it looked like I never vacuumed there! Within minutes the vacuum was filling up with dirt! Lots of it! After vacuuming, all you have to do is set it back in the base and press a button. And boom! The dirt is automatically emptied from the vacuum and dumped in the holding compartment for later removal. The suction is good enough that this thing literally pulls you along. You can tell it senses the different surfaces of the floor and adjusts accordingly. This is great for people who have areas with carpet, hard wood floors, and area rugs. It keeps adjusting to each different surface. The only thing to note that may be a negative for some is the real estate this thing takes up. It requires a lot of room for the base and the vacuum. I wish there was a better attachment system that held all the attachments and got them off the floor. To me, the ease of use and suction power makes me oversee the assembly and size of the unit. I can definitely see this as a replacement for a corded vacuum for most people as it works that well. I love the build quality and all the components are well made and designed. Besides some minor quips, this Shark PowerDetect vacuum is a winner. I can say I highly recommend this vacuum for almost anymore. It will take a bite out of your dirt! Get it!

This Shark PowerDetect vacuum cleaner and dock seem like overkill. The concept was so odd to me, that it took a while to figure out just what it was that I had acquired. Instead of having a canister that holds a decent amount of debris and can be dumped into the trash after each use, this vacuum has a small “dust cup”. That is an accurate description because it holds less than 2 cups. Instead of dumping the contents in the trash, the vacuum is attached to the docking station after each use. The contents of the dust cup are sucked into the dock canister and the dock canister contents are then dumped in the trash. The dock/charger is huge and is very heavy. A 2 foot x 2 foot space close to an electrical outlet is required to accommodate the docking/charging station and the vacuum. About 6 inches more are needed if the vacuum is in the folded storage position. I don’t know where this is supposed to fit in an average house. I’ve seen it pictured stored in a living room, but I don’t want this thing in my living room - although that’s where I had to put it to test it. The only potential spot I found was in the garage, and I’m not even sure there is enough space there. The included instructions were fairly well written. Sometimes it was difficult to tell if the instructions referred to the vacuum itself or to the docking station. There is a parts list on the lid of the box, but there were 2 items in the box that were not on the list. One looks like an extra filter and I think the other is a hanger for the brush attachment. There is a slot on the docking station for the crevice tool, but not for the brush. Instructions with more detail are available on the website. The box included a neutralizer puck that attaches to the docking station. I am allergic to scented things. When I opened the bag, the smell of the puck was so intense that it gave me an immediate headache, sore throat and burning eyes. I had to remove it and reseal it in another bag. The LED lights on the brush/roller section change colors to indicate the amount of debris/dirt on the floor. If the light is dark purple, keep making passes until it turns white. The white light is very bright, and showed cobwebs and dirt I didn’t know were there. It does a good job of self adjusting between different floor types. It does not do well with floor rugs. It detects them as carpet and tries to suck them in, which stalls the motor. One thing it does very well is get the dirt out of the carpet. Even though I had just vacuumed with a standard type vacuum of the same brand, the dust cup on the Shark PowerDetect was full after going over the same areas again. The contents of the cup were mostly fine dust that was deep in the carpets. The vacuum system has a 5 year warranty, which is impressive. The vacuum itself is heavy and not self propelled. It is very noisy and gets even louder when it encounters a dirty area. It’s not for the weak. After 5 minutes of using it on the carpet, my shoulder started to hurt and I had to switch to the other hand. It’s designed for a stronger, taller person - or for non-carpeted floors. The difference between it and a standard vacuum that is easy to push is that most of the weight of the Power Detect model is at the top. Because of the design, I’m carrying, pushing and supporting 4 - 5 pounds instead of the weight being distributed to the lower section. The heavy part is the detachable handheld section for use with the attachments. It's much too big and heavy to use for anything like vacuuming out a car. I wasn’t impressed with the run time. I only got through 3 carpeted rooms before the battery died, although vacuuming did take longer than normal because I had a lot of purple areas that I went back and forth over until the LEDs turned white. I'm hoping that next time I’ll be able to vacuum the whole house on a single charge. Hard floors go much faster, which may be where the 70 minutes estimated run time comes from. It is possible to dump the contents of the vacuum dust cup directly into the trash and not use the docking dust bin. To try it, I detached the top section of the vacuum, held it over the garbage can and pushed the “trash” button. Instead of ejecting the trash, the entire plastic section ejected into the garbage can. After retrieving it, I found that pushing a pink lever opens up the plastic dust cup. It’s a little complicated getting everything reassembled and in the process the leftover dust in the dust bin ends up on the floor. Which could be a good reason to use the docking dust cup evacuation method instead of the manual method. I’m absolutely impressed with the suction power of this model. It gets under furniture and along baseboards easily. But the size of the docking station makes it very difficult to store. I like to put all my cleaning appliances in a laundry room closet. I can’t store this one anywhere in the laundry room because I don’t have floor space or an available outlet. There are instructions for charging the handheld section separate of the dock, but the necessary cord isn’t included. The port is there, but the cord has the wrong configuration. I’m trying it with an extra cord I had. If it works I can bypass the charging/dock station and just use the vacuum. It’s a powerful vacuum, but the docking station takes up too much space and the vacuum itself is the equivalent of lifting a 4 - 5 pound weight for 30 minutes. Maybe it will be good exercise for me in the end.

I am so delighted to have been asked to review this product. Wow. I am a big fan of Shark vacuums in general- well made, intuitive, easy to clean and easy to clean with! This new cordless model with auto-empty provided way more than I expected. The box came with a list of the parts on the inner flap and quick start instructions on a single sheet of paper. NO USER MANUAL, but instead a QR code to access said manual. I wish they had either included the manual in the box, or given a short URL to access it (not everyone can read said manual on their phone!). That is my only ding against the IP3000. The pieces go together flawlessly. Make sure you put the wand and handheld vac together and charge it fully on the charging dock before you get started. Then, it's easy to clean! The power button is on the handle and this area also displays the vacuum mode (eco, detect, boost) and the status of how much battery is left. All quite visible while using as a floor vac. The three modes are eco (uses less power) auto detect (sucking power changes based on amount of dirt) and boost (max power all the time). So, I live on a ranch and one Great Pyrenees has access to the house. We are covered in white dog hair most of the time, PLUS the sand, dirt and dust. I had been pulling out a industrial shop vacuum every day. I had the ideal place to challenge the IP3000! Let me say that I am extremely impressed. Check out the photos. This vacuum is phenomenal, sucking up loads of dog hair and dirt with east. I thought for sure that I would clog the hose, but no matter how much hair I vacuumed up, it never clogged. A couple of times, hair did accumulate near the roller, but that was an easy fix to just pull it off... Zero hair wrapped itslef around the rollers! Wow. The best part was I can see when the dust bin is getting full and just place it on the stand and -whoosh!- the auto empty features sucks it all out. The flexi-swivel floor nozzle gets five stars on its own. It is small, yet can swivel and flex under most furniture. The wand flexes as well and I found it simple to vacuum under the sofa and buffet and bed without getting on my knees. Switching from floor vac to hand vac takes one simple button to remove the floor nozzle and snap on a different tool. I used the pet multi-tool to clean the sofa AND the celing! We had dirt streaks near our central AC vents and I was able to vacuum them clean with the pet tool. I used the duster crevice tool to clean the tops of the baseboards and the juncture between baseboard and floor. Clean! No bending or scooting along on my knees! Now that I have established that this is the perfect vac for a pet owner, here are some things I picked up. When you start the floor vac, it doesn't really sound like its working that hard until you hit a patch of dirt or hair, then it revs up. Be prepared for that! When you place the handvac on the charging/emptying stand, it will whoosh out the dirt, followed by a reverse little whoosh, and the whoosh out again. Keep your filters clean and gently wipe off the sensors frequently. This will maintain your machine for years to come. Also, if you have a lot of pet hair, when doing the floor, stop and turn the floor nozzle up and make sure that you have not developed a wad of hair. If you do, just pull it out and throw it in the trash, and vacuum some more! I also recommend you take the trash can outside when you go to empty the bin in order to avoid releasing dust into the house. Finally, the odor neutralizer must work as my husband hasn't complained about 'vac odor'. Thank you to the Shark designers for making my life easy! Since I don't have cords and hoses from the industrial shop vacuum, I can just pluck this beauty off the charging stand and do a lot or a little without having to pick everything up!

I just bought one of these from Best Buy for $400. I hadn't seen many reviews on it, probably because it's so new, so I was nervous. No need to be nervous: it is amazing! I thought all of the fancy Detect things would just be gimmicks, but they really do make a difference. Dirt detect helps battery last a lot longer; I vacuumed hardwoods and area rugs for over a half hour and it was flashing 1 bar of battery, but still going. Edge detect is incredible because it kicks on and really does pull in dirt off the baseboards in ways no other vacuum has for me. Even light detect is nice because the light is always on the show dirt in front of the vacuum, but light detect also helps light up the room if it is dark. I've had two Shark Navigator LiftAways. When I bought the second one, I noticed that they kept the general design the same over the years but improved the engineering on a few things (like adding structural fins to plastic parts prone to breaking) so I've been a Shark fan since noticing that. My previous cordless is a Bissell ClearView XR which was neat, but not super effective. My area rugs feel like new. So much nasty dust was pulled out of the fibers. And the fins of the roller fluffed up the fibers. Seriously my rugs haven't felt this soft in years. This vacuum is amazing. 100% do yourself a favor and get the Clean & Empty version. Having a base to put the vacuum in which pulls all the hair and dust without any of it going into the air is such an improvement. With the Bissell, I'm always holding my breath when I empty it, my garbage can gets dusty, often I spill on the floor by accident. With this new Shark, it sucks it all down (base, then the vacuum does a little rev, then base again quickly) and I supposedly should only need to empty once a month, which means it is going to the outside bin no problem. Oh, and it charges from that base too so it's always ready for you. And today I found that I could use the vac in handheld mode *with* the powered floor roller attached. Total game changer for vacuuming carpeted stairs! A shorty vac! Can't recommend this vacuum enough! Hope this review helps; I would've appreciated finding one before purchasing so I wasn't nervous for no reason!

My shopping experience was amazing at the store. I went in looking for this vacuum and took it home that afternoon. It was a bit of a strange high pitch noise compared to my corded shark that just broke, but then I heard my next door neighbor vacuuming and it sounded the same. I enjoy the auto empty. I thought for the size of the container it would be full by now but I’ve emptied into it many times over a month and it’s still not full which really has been worth not having to empty 3-4 times. The container just on the vacuum was much larger too. I can now get through my whole 872 sq foot apartment in one pass and just put it on the auto dump charger when I’m done, where I had to unplug at least 2 times and get dusty emptying into the trash with my old shark. I also enjoy the suction happening forward and backwards. Haven’t seen another do that. I enjoy the auto floor detection too. My floors seem cleaner, but only because the dirt detector makes me think that. Probably just as good as the 13 year old one but it’s definitely more convenient. Love having a cordless vacuum!

The Shark PowerDetect Cordless Stick Vacuum is an exceptional cleaning tool that has transformed my approach to household cleaning. Its powerful suction ensures thorough cleaning across various surfaces, from hardwood floors to carpets, effortlessly picking up dirt, debris, and pet hair. The HEPA filtration system is a standout feature, as it effectively traps allergens, making it a great choice for households with allergy sufferers. The cordless design provides unparalleled convenience, allowing me to clean without being tethered to an outlet. The Auto-Empty System is a game-changer, saving time and reducing contact with dust and debris. Additionally, the PowerDetect technology automatically adjusts suction power based on the cleaning surface, optimizing both performance and battery life. One minor issue is the dustbin size, which fills up relatively quickly, especially in larger households or after deep cleaning sessions. However, this is mitigated by the Auto-Empty System, which makes emptying the bin hassle-free. Overall, the Shark PowerDetect Cordless Stick Vacuum is a highly efficient and user-friendly vacuum that delivers outstanding results. It’s a worthy investment for anyone seeking a versatile and powerful cleaning solution. Highly recommended!
