    Great TV

I sit about 10' away from the TV and to see the quality difference of 4k a 84" is minimum. Since those run 10k+ the UQ delivers a superior picture quality at a fraction of the price. I would argue I get the same picture quality with this TV @ 10 feet than with any 4k TV of the same size. I bought this TV to hold me over until the 80+ 4k TV's get more affordable (can I dream for a LG 105"?). If you want a 4k picture without the price tag, this is your TV. Amazing picture, super in depth 3D, great style and easy setup. I know it's not a true 4k picture, but again, when taking in viewing distance, why pay for the price of 4k when there is no advantage in picture quality when compared to this set? Thanks Sharp!

    All I can say is........

Wow what more can I say about the most amazing picture I've ever seen on a tv before! I did so much research before I choose this tv and I'm so happy I made the choice. I wish it was the 80 inch but shelling out double the money didn't seem worth it. For anyone looking for an absolute crisp, bright and timeless picture than this tv is for you. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because the very slight lag in the refresh rate when watching sports. I like watching the tv in the highest dynamic setting which brings the set to a 120hz instead of it's true 240hz but I really don't mind it because the amazing picture it gives. I rarely ever give reviews but I felt that the people of sharp that created this tv deserved a big thumbs up!

Awesome TV for the right price

Overall, this is a really nice TV. The picture is amazing, and while it's not true 4K, really is as good as non-4K TV's get. The silver trim looks nice, and while the built-in speakers are not great, chances are you'll already have or be purchasing a sound system if you're in the market for this TV. Picture quality is excellent. My games on PS4 look much better than my old HDTV - for instance, the moon levels on Destiny look absolutely incredible. At the current price, it's a pretty steep asking price. The unit can be had for sub $2k, which at that price is an absolute steal.

it took me about 2 months of research before i finally decided to buy this T.V. Couldn't decide weather or not it was going to be great, since i live no were near a best buy with magnolia. But after all the research day after day i finally decided this was going to be the T.V i was going to buy. I was debating weather to go with a Samsung 8000 series but don't regret it one bit. T.V is amazing THX Certified, Smart features are great, picture quality is amazing.

    Excellent delivery service!

I was initially concerned about the delivery process of such a large television. When I loaded the shopping cart I was presented with multiple dates. The delivery date I chose was two days from when I the submitted order. After I ordered I received confirmation by email, text, and a phone call. Another plus was the delivery window was only two hours, so I didn't have to throw away a whole day waiting for them to arrive. I received two calls on the delivery day, one saying they left, another saying they were 30 min out. The television was delivered with no damage to the packaging. The communication during the entire process was outstanding. Of course the Sharp LC-70UQ17U Television is great too! Great Job Best Buy! Thanks!

Premium picture and sound with a sleek design

I purchased this TV to replace my old Panasonic 50" plasma from the heyday era when plasma was king in deep blacks and picture quality. I was hesitant at first to make the jump to edge lit LED but am extremely happy with the purchase. The picture is top notch and has a multitude of picture settings to choose from. I've been nothing but impressed by the Auto correcting screen that responds to ambient light as well as selecting the best picture setting for the type of media you are watching. I haven't fully dived into special calibration modes but quite frankly haven't had the urge yet. I'm not sold on the 4k craze just yet and this model offers a great "hedge" as it is essentially a camouflaged "2k" TV that will play 4k content (if content starts to become available) well enough for my tastes. I have it hooked up to my receiver and sound system so don't utilize the 35W 2.1 speaker system (which begs the question if you are going to drop $3k on a TV I would assume you have a soundbar or sound system to hook-up to rather than relying on the TV speakers) but I digress. I did test it out at installation and it was solid as far as TV speakers are considered. The user interface "SmartCentral" is one of the best I've experienced on a smart TV and allows you to browse seamlessly while you watch TV. It doesn't have the voice and face recognition bells and whistles of some of the other big name brands but the phone app and intuitive remote control allow me to see past the novelty of talking with my TV. In terms of design it's bezel is sleek and appealing compared to the piano key gloss of the previous decade, and much slimmer. In fact the hardest part of setup was trying to plug in the cords after mounting on the wall since the TV was so flush to the wall even on a regular non-low profile mount. Overall if you're looking for a great large screen TV I would definitely recommend the Q+ series as Sharp really hit the mark. I debated between the TQ and UQ models and basically went with the UQ because of the enhanced refresh rate motionflow tech (as a mentioned coming from plasma it was to address any screen lag concerns I may have with an LED). If you can look past that and don't care about the THX certification additional contrast ratio or buying the 3D glasses separately go with the TQ.

I've had is tv for over a week & connected it to a sony 4k up scaling blu ray player. Phenomenal picture. You can easily see the difference with the upscaling. The quattron technology coupled with 4k is amazing and this tv is worth every penny. The smart features are easy to use and I love the guide feature. The set up is simple and easy to use. I'm still torn on which setting to use. The auto setting does adjust to the lighting in your room but year thx does give a high quality picture.

Good TV for above average user

I enjoy the HDMI 3 feature with sound being able to go both ways, watching netflix on the TV's smart features and still get surround sound without having to get an optical cable. Not happy to spend this much money and get 1 pair of 3D glasses, cost for sharp is probably pennies a pair and could have easily match pansonic/samsung and give you 4 on the high end TV's. There could have been a bluetooth remote as well for the smart features such as the LG remote. Quality overall is good, upscaling the youtube videos that are not 1080p is horrible, should recognize it by default not to upscale, the TV is not that "smart".

Sharp 8 series vs Q+ (or any other model) Q+ wins

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Had this TV for a few weeks now and it still amazes me. Especially on Blu-Ray movies the quality is unmatched compared to other models. I have owned a number of TV's to compare it to as well 70" Sharp 6 and 8 series, 70" Vizio E series, LG, and Higher end Sony LED TV. This new Q+ TV has easily noticeable better picture quality. I have a good eye for resolution so its easy for me to notice but even guest that aren't techy point it out to me instantly. House of Cards on Netflix, which I believe broadcasts in 4k, is great to watch. The colors and resolution are unmatched. Even compared to spending so much more on 4k I personally see a very minimal difference in the Q+ vs 4K. Not enough to justify the price difference. I don't see what the difference is in the extra price for the UQ vs SQ. I have the UQ but I don't use the TV speakers so cant comment on that. And another extra feature is the THX which I don't use either because I liked Dynamic setting better. The SQ seems to be a pretty good price point for what you are getting. I would defiantly recommend this UQ or SQ over any other model currently out.

    Amazing 70" TV

I bought this TV for our den to upgrade from our 55". The ability to play 4K video input on the TV is what sold it for me. With 4K in its infancy, it is difficult to justify the cost of a true 4K television when you know they will only drop in price and improve in quality. Definitely am recommending this TV to family and friends!

    Best TV out Today

Great tv. Big, Bright, and Beautiful. Best Practical TV on the market in my opinion why you aks? Because 4k TVs with upscaler look grainy because there is so many pixils. This tv has the ability to play 4k content and still has a sharp picture on normal 2k content. Menus are easy to navigate, very easy to customize enough hdmi ports for all the devices you want to connect. In conclusion if you want the best practical tv on the market today you cannot go wrong with the Sharp Q+

Great Picture quality and great size for the money

I just purchased this TV to replace an older Samsung F7100. My old TV was good, but this one is amazing. The 70UQ17 has a crazy high contrast ratio (good for dark areas of an image for true blacks), and the refresh rate is super smooth 240hz, great for fast action and sports without image blur. It has way more detail than a standard 1080P TV, but not quite as sharp as a 4K

Overall I am really impressed with this TV. The look of the TV itself, the feel of the interface, the ease of setup, and performance are all among the best. The picture quality alone makes it worth it and the SmartCentral application is just icing on the cake. I am very happy with my purchase!

After seeing the reviews online, I was looking forward to this purchase. I have had the TV since September 2014, and I am disappointed in the quality overall. Dark backgrounds and movements have a little bit of a foggy or ghost composition. Very disappointing. I do have ATT Uverse, which I have not been overly impressed with (versus Verizon FIOS), but I had to go to ATT due to few options in my neighborhood. Regardless, I still see some of the same ghosting with Netflix.

Great still shots, but hard to watch when moving

Lots of pixilation on certain shows/ / channels. Some shows (bowl games) are stunning while other shows are unwatchable with flickering and pixilation during motion shots. I'm returning it to Best Buy for a new one to see if it's any better. Also can't connect to wireless. Have a part on order and was going to have it fixed but have now decided to return it and see if the next one eliminates pixilation (and connects to wireless). If I have to take another day off work to fix it, then another one for the new one, well, it doesn't make sense.

    Mine had issues

This is the second tv I purchased at best buy in the past 10 days. The first was the 70 Lg 9500 series, it was terrific, but only came in 65" , and after getting it home I realized I wanted a 70". This Tv was my second choice After doing a lot of research, I realized 70" tv's are not as readily available as you might think. This is marketed as "near " 4k, due to the addition of "sub-pixels". I found the viewing angle on mine to be less than stellar. The picture on darker scenes had a lot of gray pixelating, and on motion scenes, mine has excessive blur. The active 3d never did sink to both glasses. When given a slow 4k signal it was acceptable. AT $ 2399.The sale price was good. There are other offering that are either true 4k, or better @ 1080p for the money.
