GREAT little oven!!! You need to experiment with it, but once you have the temp and time right, reheated thin or deep-dish pizza tastes better than when it was delivered to you...

This unit does not require any preheating which is a huge time saver and still cools quickly. Most bakes are done according to standard bake time directions but will come out more moist and tender. Most recently had tuna filets in 14 mins that were absolutely perfect.

Never have steam machine before. This oven is really good if you like to make a bread because it won’t turn too dry especially for pizza dough

Cooks fast. Moist but not as crunchy as oven

Pro:
Cooks faster than regular oven
Food is moist and airy
Easy to use
Con:
Not as crispy as oven
Takes up a lot of counter space
Can heat up counter surface (possible damaging certain kinds of countertops)
Food sticks to broil pan, and can be hard to clean
Useability:
This oven is quite big, about as big as a large microwave so space can be an issue. It’s not light either. It seems solid with little flex in the metal, but the stainless steel is a smudge magnet. It is really easy to use. Simply fill the water reservoir, slide it in, and turn it on. Select the cooking mode, time, and start. I recommend running it a few times (per initial instructions) to get rid of the smell as well as of the white powdery residue that seems to build up after the first few uses. It does cook faster than a normal oven so it takes a few trial to get the timing and temp right.
The biggest concern I have is that when running it on higher temperature, it really heats up the countertop. It’s not as hot as the oven itself, but enough that prolonged uses may damage certain countertops, like laminates. It also can use a lot of power so avoid using other power hungry appliances like a microwave or electric grill.
Cleaning the inside is easy as long as there’s no food that got burnt on the bottom. The hardest part to clean is the broil pan. So far, every meal I cooked stuck to the pan no matter how much I coated it with oil. I ended up using foil to line it, but according to the instructions, foil should not be used (?).
Cooking results:
After using it for a few days and trying different kinds of food, I think this steam oven is good for quick small meals that doesn’t require your food to be really crispy. It’s probably better for sandwiches or thin pieces of meat. For meats, the steam seems give a nice brown while keeping the inside nice and moist. Fish with skin came out light and crisp. It won’t be as crunchy as frying, but It’s a healthier alternative. Thin bread came out really crispy. Unfortunately cooking pizza didn’t produced as good as a result from a traditional oven. The crust came out more like fresh baked bread. The very outer layer was golden and has a light crisp to it while the inside is soft and airy, but it was too moist and felt like it was on the verge of being soggy.
Salmon fillet (skin side up): Cooked in about 8 mins. Skin is airy and lightly crisped, but not as crunchy as frying. Meat is moist and cooked thoroughly. Skin stay crisp only for a short time after coming out.
Chicken wings: Less than 30 mins. Similar result as using the oven, but the skin is dryer while the meat is not as dry.
Frozen pizza (full size): 20 mins. Came out my like soft baked pretzel. The thin outer layer has a light crisp but the inside is soft, almost soggy. Traditional oven produced better results.
Frozen flatbread pizza: About 10 mins. Crust was crunchy. Came out very nice.
Breaded pork chops: 20 mins. Inside was moist but the bread crumbs was not crunchy like from a regular oven. It was barely crisp, like it was reheated with a microwave.

So, it’s been a while since I received the Sharp SuperSteam Toaster/Pizza Oven and I’ve had a chance to use in several ways. At first glance, I must say that this oven is very good looking. It features a stainless-steel body with chrome accents. It does not have a lot of buttons or dials -just a selector knob, a digital clock/timer display and a tab for the water reservoir (more of that later) and of course a door handle. It goes well with my stainless-steel stove, dishwasher, and fridge. This finish is a fingerprint magnet though and must be cleaned often. It is big (19.7x18.9x9.3) and it takes a big portion of the counter (where the old toaster used to be). Also, it is heavy (almost 25lbs.). It comes with a broil and a grill pan. The oven can accommodate a 12” pizza so it does have some room when it comes to width. However, its height may be on the short side, and that can affect some recipes (baking a loaf of bread?). This oven is super easy to use per the included instructions. While it is versatile, it does not have too many options, which I appreciate. All you need to do is add water to the reservoir before using it, select the tray that’s needed, select the option (bake/reheat, broil/grill, pizza, toast and warm), time (if needed) and temperature (again, if needed). No need to warm up -it’s instant! All options are easily selectable by using the dial knob, select button, and start button. But how does it actually perform? Well, to be honest, I had mostly good results along with some mixed ones as well (no bad ones). Following their included recipe book, I started with the easiest of things: quesadillas. The time calls for 8 minutes, however, I had to readjust the time as the cheese did melt immediately, leaving the tortilla too soft (I like them a bit crispy). This is when I noticed a pretty big issue. To check the food (the window is small, by the way), one must take the entire tray out. That’s right; one cannot take the tray halfway without holding it with one oven mitten and this can make it awkward (and potentially unsafe) to handle. I had to transfer the pan to the stove, flip the quesadillas and return it to the oven. In the end, they came out well -although it did take much longer than anticipated. Next, I tried the toast feature. Dealing with regular toast, it did a decent job (although my toaster does a bit of a better job). However, when I tried baking biscuits, the result was amazing. The outside part was crunchy and the inside very moist and soft. Then, I tried some chicken with veggies. I also loved the results as the meat was not dry and the veggies came out nicely broiled and moist. Again, one thing to consider is that you must get used to the timing as it differs greatly from what’s recommended in the cooking book. You must check on it constantly. The last thing I been using it for is reheating my food. It is just as good as a microwave (albeit not as fast) without the electronic radiation (if that’s your concern). It warms things up evenly. I did reheat regular white rice with some sprinkled water and it did a very decent job, almost making it seem as if the rice was recently cooked. Another thing to remember is to clean the drip pan that is located on the bottom after every use. And never, ever forget to add water to the reservoir before use -every time! Cleaning it is a breeze. In the end, this is a very versatile oven. It does well what it is designed to do with some getting used to. Although I’m very concerned about the issue with handling the pans when checking the food, I hope that the next generation will fix this with a way to rest the pan and allowing for both hands to be used. Overall, I would still recommend it -especially if you are looking for an alternative to microwaving and having a dedicated toaster as well as its ease of use.

The toaster oven of the future!

Let me start off by saying this is a great toaster! If you don't use it for anything else...it toasts bagels better than anything I've ever used! That being said...it's not your "normal" toaster oven. It uses a combination of heat and steam to cook food, and the result is fast and fantastic. It's a very low profile unit compared to most toaster ovens and has a bigger footprint similar to a microwave. The controls are clear and easy to use and self-explanatory. The built-in water compartment for the steam cooking is on the front and easy to access and the drip tray for the condensed steam is easy to remove and clean. I don't think we've used our main gas oven since the 1st night we opened the box and set it up. I predict it will be our main cooking utensil other than the stove top.

Package arrived and it came in a large box. Upon opening I was pleasantly surprised, it was nicely made and solid. The instructions were pretty easy to follow and quick for me to start cooking right away. I dont have a lot of countertop space and felt this was a little to large for a countertop appliance. I know it will fit a 12 inch pie but if I want to cook a large pizza pie I would just use my oven. The reason for the 4 stars is because because of the footprint, but I am very impressed with how nicely the food came out. The chicken wings, mozzarella sticks, cauliflower pizza and hot dogs came out crispy and perfectly cooked and moist.
As far as maintenance is concerned I have to be on top of it, it is not a deal breaker. One last con is that it is a little loud, but overall I like it as a quick to use appliance when I dont want to pre heat the oven and start cooking immediately.

Found some shelf space, read the instructions and away we go.
First test item...a frozen pizza (shocking). Set the timer as it's listed on the box for 12 minutes. I love that the oven didn't have to be pre-heated. The look of that pizza was TV commercial perfect. A perfectly light brown of melted cheese from the outer circle to the center. Mentally, I also thought the pizza had a better taste. I immediately dismissed this thought, but now considered the oven is a steam baker, it is possible.
Second test item...another frozen pizza. This pizza is a generic store brand while the first pizza was a national frozen pizza brand. Cooked the pizza for the time listed on the box. The pizza cooked for maybe 2 minutes longer than needed. Cheese was melt perfectly again, but you could tell the pizza had stayed in the oven a little longer than necessary.
Third and final test item...frozen 7 oz Apple Pie. Cook time on the box stated 32-35 minutes. I cooked it for 30 minutes. Once again, TV commercial perfect looking pie out of the oven.
Cleaning the oven is too easy. I had to the let the oven cool down and wipe everything down. A small piece of cheese had to clean off the crisper tray each time I cooked a pizza, but other than that, nothing major.
If you purchase this, please read the instructions before using...I almost didn't and I'm so glad I did.

The Sharp .5 Cu.Ft. Superheated Steam Counter Top Oven is a great oven. The stainless steel finish is both modern looking and will blend in well with your kitchen décor. The oven is super versatile and can accomplish many things such as broiling, grilling, baking, reheating, toasting and just plain warming food. For you pizza lovers, the oven also has a pizza setting. This oven features an easy to clean non-stick interior and slide-out crumb tray. Standard inclusion with this oven is a bake pan as well as a broiler rack. The oven is weighty and comes in at around 35 pounds which is a good thing, as accidental movement or tipping on your counter-top is highly unlikely. The product is backed by a 12 month warranty which is pretty standard.
Upon my initial use of this oven, I did smell a slight odor. Be warned that many new toasters and ovens suffer from this malady as the appliances when shipped have a coating on the heating elements. They all tend to give off some odor during the initial usage phase but it quickly dissipates. Maximum temperature of the oven is 485 degrees which is a combination of heat and superheated steam.
What's really nice about this oven is that you can cook two trays of food simultaneously. NICE! Try that in a regular old type oven. The Sharp oven uses a new technology which is supposed to make your food taste better. It uses a heat and steam combination to cook your food. I did some frozen pizza in this oven and was pleasantly surprised, as the taste was better than a conventional oven. Also, I did make some homemade muffins. The verdict on the muffins, "superior moisture", softer than usual and tasty. It's worth mentioning that I always use the same recipe with exactly the same ingredients. So the superior taste in my opinion was a direct result of both the steam cooking and radiant heat. It's worth noting that when you open the door to the oven steam does escape (which is normal), so you should be careful not to burn yourself.
Overall the Sharp oven did a better job than my standard toaster oven. I would certainly think this was due to the steam production of this unit. This oven will make a great gift as far as giving or receiving one. Put it on your gift list. Overall, I'm highly impressed with this great product. Great product!

this steam toaster over produces great results, but "steams" the wallet a bit.
This is a fairly simple device: A steam toaster oven. What does the steam get you? Non dried out foods and no pre-heat time.
The best part about this oven is no pre-heat time. When making something in this oven, that can cut off 10-15 minutes of regular oven pre-heat time!
Results: i have cooked a few items in this, and from what I found the results are great. Mozzarella sticks were crisp and crunchy, with gooey cheese in the middle and biscuits were golden brown but soft and moist on the inside.
The oven includes two pans, a crisper and a "regular" pan.
cons: the included cookbook is a bit lax, not many good ideas in there. I found cooking using recommended times on item boxes resulted in the best cooked items. The oven has a large footprint, and is a bit loud.
In summary: Cooks very well, but is a little expensive and loud.

Being the proud owner of a Sharp Supersteam Microwave oven for 10 yrs, I jumped at the chance to get this steam toaster to replace my smart oven pro. I'm not sure it was the best decision though. As a steam oven, it works immensely well cooking water fowl, fish to burgers. Everything is cooked through and quite juicy. Though as in it's name, it's meant to replace a toaster oven and as such should be able to crisp bread, bake premade frozen items like pizza, crab cakes, etc. In that area, results are not good if you go by the instructions. Specified box cooking times are not going to be enough. I believe the option to have cooking cycles without steam as in my microwave unit, have been carelessly omitted in this unit. My workaround is to remove the water reservoir when I don't want steam and it works just fine and gives the desired result. If not for this issue and the oven cavity being short, it would have been 5 stars.

No more waiting on the oven to heat

A few pros and a few cons on this one.
Pros: Heats SUPER quick! It uses steam, so you no longer have to wait forever for it to preheat. Just turn on and go.
Cons: This sucker is hefty. In order to accommodate the pizza, it takes up a bit more counter-top real estate than my last one. You have to remember to add water or it won't turn on and it doesn't give you an alert that it needs water. Minor adjustment though and I'm sure over time we'll remember. The dials aren't exactly intuitive. You really need to use the start-up guide to figure out how to turn it on and change the temperatures, etc. Usually with this type of product, you're ready to go straight out of the box without really needing to refer to instructions. Another challenge is pulling out the little tray. It's really awkward and you really have to struggle to pull it out from the bottom. We plan to get a separate, smaller tray that we can easily place on top of it and use it more like a shelf. With the square size to accommodate pizzas, it's a little tough finding a tray the right size.
Overall, I totally love the time I get back because of how quickly this oven heats however the other gaps called out above disappointed me. Many are minor, but they are all the things one usually expects with a toaster oven. I'm surprised they were overlooked. At this price point, I really expect close to perfection. I love the new feature of steam use for the quicker heat, but would consider other products that deliver that feature without compromising in all the other places.

I have been testing this oven out for a few meals and have been pretty happy. It is easy to use, does not require any preheating, and it cooks evenly. The inside is spacious enough that I can fit some nice sized dishes in without a problem and the interior surface is also smooth and easy to clean. While it takes up more counter space than a traditional toaster oven, it also has more capabilities. I have not had to use my regular oven since I started using this. Depending on what I am making, that equates to saved time and electricity since I did not have to preheat.
So far, the only negative is that the trays are huge. They are not made to slide halfway out and stay in place like a traditional toaster or oven. My guess is that they intend for them to just be removed when cooking is complete. But with their size, they do not fit anywhere else in my kitchen. I wish they could rest on a track. Second, the trays are dishwasher safe but it is a huge challenge to fit them into the dishwasher without taking up a large amount of space that could be occupied by other dishes from the meal.
Overall, I am happy. But smaller might be a little better.

This is a unique item. Modern looking it will fit nicely with any modern kitchen. Set up is a breeze, unpack, load the water tray (we use only distilled water). Heat up to burn off the new smell and you're ready to go.
First the great. this oven does a fantastic job with breads, from toasting hamburger buns (6 min) to warming up dinner rolls or baking french bread. It creates a crispy crust while leaving the inside soft and moist. It will also do a great job on things like quiche or egg dishes especially with cheese or other ingredients that need to moist heat to release their flavor.
Cooking denser items (meat including fish) it takes time to achieve the required temperature and gives off quite a bit of heat in the process. Does not work as well as a conventional oven for generating a consistent level of doneness.
We haven't tried it yet with baked goods but I suspect it would do a good job with pre-packaged cookies, not so much with scratch.
For the unique nature and the things it does well I would recommend it for a general utility oven not so much.
