So when I bought this, I don’t normally go for steelbooks, but getting to have this movie in crystal clear 4K and Dolby Atmos soundmix, The Experience of the film was hugely enhanced. Plus hours of special features, a film commentary track, and a free digital redemption code!
But where I saw the great extra added value was the Best Buy exclusive for a free month of the DC Universe streaming service. So many amazing shows, movies, and comics that I can stream to my tv and iPad that I just couldn’t resist!

I really enjoyed this movie! I am a big fan of the superhero genre and thought this movie looked like it would be fun. Boy, was I surprised with the bonus message. My wife and I have a blended family (two children each from prior marriages), and I thought this movie did a great job of promoting the idea of family outside of the biological context. I think it helped our children to better appreciate our own family dynamic. I also enjoyed watching all of the bonus content. I highly recommend it!

I enjoyed Shazam! and thought it was funny & entertaining; striking a nice balance between action, storyline, etc. I think it's a good move for DC to make films on newer unknown characters instead of repeating Superman & Batman forever. The 4K visuals were very good and the HDR was effective. The Dolby Atmos were above average with decent bass & decent overheads; although not huge like King of the Monsters. The visuals & surround is still better than what Marvel gives you on their releases.

I used to watch the SHAZAM Saturday morning cartoon when I was a kid, and I loved the idea back then. What kid WOULDN'T want to say a magic word and become a superhero? He's more stable than the Hulk, too...
And they did a bang-up job with the characters in this movie, too. Zachary Levi nailed the character, Mark Strong turned in another brilliant villain performance, and the story was a perfect adaptation of Geoff Johns' and Gary Frank's miniseries.
Now, the long wait for BLACK ADAM begins...

Great movie!
We all have a superhero inside of us -- it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In 14-year-old Billy Batson's case, all he needs to do is shout out one word to transform into the adult superhero Shazam. Still a kid at heart, Shazam revels in the new version of himself by doing what any other teen would do -- have fun while testing out his newfound powers. But he'll need to master them quickly before the evil Dr. Thaddeus Sivana can get his hands on Shazam's magical abilities.

This movie is just perfect in every way and very different compared to other superhero films. Trailers barely show anything. There are so many surprises (no, I'm not just talking about some little cameo, I'm talking about main stuff). Also if you feel that most superhero films are showing similar stuff and want something new then this is for you and those who enjoy every superhero films anyway then it's definitely for you. Even those who don't like superhero films at all, will also love it.

Among DC’s top movies so far

Okay- DCEU hasn’t done well so far compared to their Marvel competition. This one is among DC’s top products, and definitely worth a watch. It’s fun, humorous, exciting, and doesn’t drag like DC has been known to do. Of course it relies heavily on CGI, but it’s not as awkward as in Justice League or Aquaman. It does cut short some of the character development, and feels like there’s probably a usefel ten more minutes of film sitting on the floor somewhere. It lacks the gravitas of Wonder Woman, and the epic scale of Aquaman, but the production is better and the characters more human than either. Well worth watching.

This movie fits the tone of the DC Comics* character very well, and is a refreshingly lighter movie especially compared to some of the gloomier DC movies like Man of Steel and Batman vs Superman.
Picture and sound quality is fantastic in 4k. Even if you don't have 4k equipment yet, but plan on it in the future, get this since it includes a blu-ray version and a digital copy code you can enjoy now.
Extras are fun as well.

This take on the Fawcett comic book material fails more than it succeeds. Liked the treatment of Dr Sivana and great acting job by Mark Armstrong! Liked the sharing of power to other family members! But the writers had no grasp on the transformation of Billy into an adult super-hero. No wisdom of Solomon, no separate personality (although Billy seems more mature than his adult counterpart). Disappointing with no admirable moral philosophy underpinning the characters of Billy and Captain Twinkletoes. Glad they couldn't call this Captain Marvel because it is not. Still a kind of fun movie anyway in its own way.

Was this movie perfect? Absolutely not. Was this movie a welcome relief from the epic ennui that has inflicted the Snyderverse DCEU. Absofreakinglutely!
We get it, the first Batman movies were brooding, and campy. The later Batman Movies were just brooding. But with each DCEU movie we descend deeper, and deeper into the Nietzschean comic abyss; until the colorfully fun Shazam! gave us welcome relief.
this movie was so much fun, and such a switch from the typical DCEU depression, that I actually have hope that some of my favorite DC characters will hit the screens with the treatment they deserve.

Fourteen year old foster kid Billy Bateson is chosen by the Gods of old to protect our world from the seven deadly sins. When he speaks the word Shazam he is physically transformed into an adult with superhuman abilities to rival those of Superman. Billy must lean to cope with his new adult body and powers while retaining his fourteen year old thoughts and emotions. He must also deal with the threat of Dr. Sivana, Who was passed over by the Gods for not being pure of heart.

As always, Warner Bros. continues to produce great entertainment for the whole family. SHAZAM is funny, brilliant and looks even more stunning in 3D! 3D movies are a big hit in our home and it's a shame that those of us who supported this tech are getting less and less material available to us. If you have and like 3D…continue to support it as long as you can…I've heard its huge overseas, so buying region free imports is still better than nothing. God Bless!

This movie is both a comedy and a superhero origin story. It is light hearted and funny, not taking itself too seriously. The plot moves quickly and the moral of the story is to be a good person. The fact that it revolves around foster children is a way to show other kids that not everyone is the same. Family is sometimes made and not given. Thoroughly enjoyable movie and I look forward to the sequel. If you get the 3D version, the 3D is great at home!

Good to see the real Captain Marvel back in the public arena. For those that were not aware, he was a feature in Fawcett Comics before its demise. Although DC picked up the franchise Marvel swooped in and registered the name. Hence Shazam was applied to him which was the word Billy Batson had to shout to transform and was the name of the Wizard. In the movie Mary Marvel becomes Mary Shazam and Junior Marvel (Captain Marvel Jr.) becomes Junior Shazam.

This movie was surprisingly good for one that performed mediocre at the box office.
It probably would not be ideal for small children, as it has a few creepy/scary scenes with some violence in it. I am making that sound worse than it is... it is generally pretty mild when compared to a typical DC movie, but a few scenes stand out.
I was on the fence about this movie based on the trailers, but it turned out much better than the previews suggested.

A Fun Romp of a Superhero Movie!

The DCEU seems to have finally found its rhythm following the underperformance of "Justice League." "Shazam" is a fun movie that takes the concept of Tom Hanks' "Big" and puts a superhero spin on it. Zachary Levi shines as a boy in a man's body who must save the world. Compared to a lot of superhero movies that try to be gritty and dark, this is a strong counter to that atmosphere. Superhero or DC Comic fans should add this to their collection.

Full disclosure, I'm a die hard Marvel Cinematic Universe fan, and DC's offerings have been quite...disappointing; However, that has changed with Shazam!
This is a great movie that is a super fun watch. The best DC movie so far, well, its neck and neck with Wonder Woman but still very good.
The 4k quality picture and sound are top notch. The movie looks and sounds great. There are dark scenes, and light scenes and a lot of fast moving action and everything looks great.
The extras are nice too. I wasn't expecting too much but there is a lot of great content.

The bad guy is a bit laughable, but the story of Billy Batson was done well. DC has trouble with making movies. Don’t know why. But they do. However, Shazam is just fun. It’s about a kid given extraordinary power. And what it does to him. What would you do with power? How would it change you? This is the story. And it’s done well. A true success for DC. Watching fb this is fun and gives you hope for a certain crossover at the end.

Shazam with Zachary Levi is lots of fun! We loved Zac in the 5 seasons of Chuck and in Thor and he is just as good in Shazam. Zac is wonderful as a 14-year-old kid in a grown-up body because he is just a big kid himself anyway (or at least he does a great job playing one). The movie is mostly OK for families, although there are some mild episodes of language issues). The bonus features do a good job of showing off Zac’s goofiness, too.
