REQUIRES separate SimpliSafe Home Base to work!

The SimpliSafe Smart Lock Series 2, is one optional component of the SimpliSafe Home Security Ecosystem. It is a good mid-level device. Unlike a do-it-all smart lock, it does not have its own camera or base unit. A camera is not necessary here, because it’s expected that you would have a SimpliSafe doorbell within a few feet of this SimpliSafe smart lock. Your separate SimpliSafe doorbell and its camera would have a much better view of the home entrance area and would help you see what is going on. Compared to a door-bell, the smart lock has the advantage of telling you whether your door is locked or not, from anywhere in the world that Wi-Fi is available. The SimpliSafe Smart Lock Series 2, is somewhat unusual because it doesn’t include a complete deadbolt. Instead, it has a motorized body that attaches to your existing deadbolt and mechanically opens and closes it as you command it. An advantage of this, is that it makes installation much easier, because you don’t have to dig or drill into the inner lock workings of the existing door. FEATURES: · Locking the Door with the App or keypad automatically can be set to arm the rest of your SimpliSafe security system. Conversely arming your SimpliSafe alarm system, can lock the door and every other SimpliSafe device automatically. · Simple quick installation with just a screwdriver. No drilling required. · Uses your door's, original standard single cylinder deadbolt. · Sends you alerts via the phone App when someone locks or unlocks your door and keeps a log. ·If someone enters the wrong PIN five times, Smart Lock will notify you via the App. Following several failed PIN attempts, the SimpliSafe system automatically secures your home. ·The SimpliSafe Smart Lock Series 2 can be preprogrammed to lock at specified times. If you forget to lock it when you leave the house for work, the SimpliSafe App can be set to do it for you at a specified time. · The lock has low battery alerts to inform you when the battery is low. · It's compatible with Google Home and Amazon Alexa (with limited function). ·3-year Limited Warranty PROS: · Easy to install and control. · Integrates well with every other SimpliSafe (Series 2 and newer) device you’ve installed in your home, making for smooth enhanced operation. · A great do-it-yourself option for the home handyman. CONS: - REQUIRES a separate SimpliSafe Home System base-unit to Work! - Sticky tape that fastens the unit and key pad to door bolt, MAY fail over time in hot climates. CONCLUSION: The SimpliSafe Smart Lock Series 2, is a mid-range product that would be an excellent choice for an apartment or first home. Later in a large house, a more capable feature-rich electronic door lock could be used.

    A very good smart lock

I’ve been a big fan of the SimpliSafe Security system for years. The home I’m now in is the third home I’ve outfitted with this product. It is so easy to install that I can set up the system without ever having to refer to documentation. Since this is my first time installing a SimpliSafe Smart Lock (Series 2), I found that installing it required some minor reviewing of the included documentation. In total, it took me less than 20 minutes to remove the old deadbolt and to complete the installation of this one. SimpliSafe smartly designed this smart lock – which simplified the installation process. The package included the smart lock (deadbolt components), as well as a keypad that sits directly outside the door. For clarity, I also have a larger SimpliSafe keypad next to the door the deadbolt is installed on. This larger keypad was included with the other equipment (sensors, main base unit, etc) when the system was initially installed. A separate smaller keypad comes with the smart lock, and this smaller keypad sits on the wall outside of the garage door. Why am I installing this smart lock on the garage door? Well, I overwhelmingly come into the house from inside the garage. There are numerous ways to arm the SimpliSafe security system. For example, as I’m leaving the house I can press the Away or Home buttons on the larger keypad inside the house, then exit the garage door. Or I can use my SimpliSafe phone app to turn on the security system. Or I can tell Google Assistant to arm it for me. Irrespective of how I turn the security system on, after the security system finishes its countdown to arming the system, it tells the smart lock to engage the deadbolt – essentially locking the garage door if the deadbolt had been left unlocked. Let’s say that I am not leaving the house but just heading into the garage, the smaller keypad outside has a button titled “Lock” that I can press to engage the deadbolt. Pressing the Lock button doesn’t turn on/off the SimpliSafe security system, it merely tells the deadbolt to lock the door. When I return home, entering a valid security code into the smaller keypad outside the garage door performs some tasks. First, it checks the code you entered to see if it’s valid. If it is valid, it turns off the Security System and unlocks the smart lock deadbolt. Lacking a smart lock, you would normally enter the house and enter a valid passcode into the larger keypad inside the house. This is no longer necessary since the smart lock turns off the alarm and unlocked the deadbolt. All in all, I’m very pleased with this keypad/deadbolt solution. I am giving this system 5 stars.

upon first inspection of this smart lock, I noticed its nice design and sleekness. I have other locks that are security locks and this one seems as though it will be a good addition. I like the fact that it was easy to install, which is very comforting for one who is not at all hardware savvy. I like the fact that you can us the app,, the key pad or the key. Having all these options aren a great way to have multiple ways of opening the door.m One of the things that I have to point out is that using the key manually is a bit challenging. sometimes it will Jam and be a bit hard to turn. In our area the internet goes down not very often but sometimes. Needing the internet to get into the house is one of the challenges that I face by having to use the key, like I said, this is few far and in-between. I love smart locks and am looking forward to replacing all the locks around the house. If you are looking for a security with these smarts locks, consider giving this specific one a try...

Solidly built smart lock. Hopefully it proves to be more durable. I had the series 1 smart lock and it died after a year, and the rubber buttons cracked and fell off during the harsh Utah winter. This one feels slightly different. The buttons feel thicker. Still super simple to hook up to an existing system. Literally took less than 5 minutes to setup. Design is similar to series 1, just more rectangular. Easy to pop off your existing deadbolt and replace with the SimpliSafe lock. All the hardware is included and works with 99.999995 doors. Settings are simple and handled by the intuitive SimpliSafe app or the security control hub. Adding it is as simple as putting a code on the website and boom! Synced! I highly recommend this for people already in the SimpliSafe economy. If this is, indeed, more durable than the series 1 lock, I will be very happy with this unit for a long time. This locks when your system is armed and unlocks when you disarm the system. You can also use it with automated timers. I look forward to seeing how this stands up to future wear.

Simplisafe lived up to their name as far as a simple installation and simple configuration/setup. I did find a few items in the instructions that could be improved, however the device installed on my door in just about 5 minutes, and works perfectly. This package includes a very sturdy lock that goes on the inside of the door and a keypad that is installed outside on the door itself on a wall or door molding. You also receive screws and anchors plus 3M sticking tape. An important supplied item is a small about 1 inch tool that is used to remove the back of the pin pad to access the batteries and also to pull apart the keypad if you want to install the base using screws instead of just the sticky tape. This tool is also used to uninstall the inside lock portion if needed. So don't lose it. The instructions said there was a piece of tape to hold the outside lock part on the door during the install but this tape was missing. However, any ''painters tape' will do. Before you remove the inside thumb-turn, you do need to secure the outside key-side of your existing door lock. Note two things, installing this new electronic lock utilizes your existing outer side of your lock and therefore your existing key will still work – this is a great design point. You can follow instructions on the app or by using the included install guide. Note in Step 4 of the guide it provides a misleading installation step. It shows the ‘wing latches’ being removed. You only slide them out and do not remove the set screws. Just loosen the set screws and leave the ‘wing latches' installed but moved away from the mounting plate. The mounting plate is then removed, and installed in place of your thumb turn latch.. Also I’d suggest that in Step 4 it could say you use a 1/16” Allen wrench to loosen the set screws. You will need to slide the ‘wing latches’ back once you have installed the plate on your door to secure it on the door. The other area which is misleading is that the instructions indicate that if the interior part doesn’t fit flush, then you may have bent the plate. While this is true, they should also indicate that if you installed the plate reversed, then there will also be a gap which is most likely your actual problem. Using the app to set the lock up, there is another mistake in that the install finishes without giving you the opportunity to set up one or more additional pins to unlock using the keypad. It just says done. I had to look up on the internet how to add a pin. I’m being a little picky, but there is a note attached on the interior ‘battery compartment lid’ that says slide right to remove. But it is in black lettering on a black background which makes it almost impossible to read the small print. Although I noted some small install improvements; this unit is very well designed and solid and the install process is excellent in that the install can be done in only a few minutes if you have some experience. Also utilizing the app, it is a very easy process to configure the lock. This lock integrates conveniently with a SimpliSafe Security system which I have; it is very nice to have everything in one app. I would highly recommend this very nice electronic smart lock.

First, I have to admit I didn't read the description closely enough. You must have a SimpliSafe system to use this lock. Also, make certain the deadbolt you are replacing is a single cylinder unit, not one that has a key on both sides. I had neither, so had to order a SimpliSafe system and replace the deadbolt. But once I had the correct equipment, I proceeded with the installation. The instructions are clear, but I did have to fiddle a bit with picking the correct adapter to connect with my deadbolt. See below. Once the hardware was installed, the lock then needed to be connected to the SimpliSafe base unit. I did this using the app on my phone, and it was accomplished quickly with excellent prompts for each step. The lock is then calibrated to ensure the lock moves in each direction enough to ensure the bolt is fully extended and retracted. I messed this up the first time, simply because I didn't install the correct adapter. After I fixed that mistake, I reran the install and the second calibration went perfectly. I then linked the keypad to the base station, and everything works exactly as expected. Since my home already has an alarm system, I am not using the SimpliSafe system as my primary system. Instead, I am using it for app control for this lock, as well as placing a door sensor on a small door that goes under my house, so I will know if someone attempts to access that space. That alone is well worth adding this system, and having app control for this door lock is "icing on the cake".

    SimpliSafe SmartLock Series 2

So I just received my SimpliSafe SmartLock Series 2 a little over a week ago and have been putting it through its paces. I have been a SimpliSafe customer for over the last 10 years and have used many of their products. Over that time, SimpliSafe has become a household name for many customers like myself. So when this new SimpliSafe SmartLock came along I knew I had o try it. Upon opening the box, you will notice that everything you need to get started nicely packed. First you must understand that this smartlock is designed and only compatible with the 3rd generation SimpliSafe Security System. The included user guide will help you with installation which is simple to do. It took me about 20 minutes to get everything installed. Having another smartlock on my front door, we decided to place this one on our backdoor near our garage for easy access. After using this for ever a week now, we have come to really love the simplicity of this smartlock and the features that come with it. Some of our favorite features include the ability to lock and unlock our door via the PIN Pad as well as unlocking/locking via the mobile app. One of the biggest features is that there is no key needed to unlock your door. Another thing to remember is that this smartlock only works with single cylinder deadbolts. While this unit does take batteries (4 AAs), it is designed for easy access to the battery compartment when its times to change the batteries out. Overall, we love our new smartlock system and its a great device at a great price point. Highly recommended.

Good addition to my Simplisafe system

The Simplisafe smart lock series 2 is an automated locking system that is designed to work with the newer Simplisafe Gen 3 security system. The package includes the smart lock and a pin pad and some documentation to get you started. The one thing that I noticed when I opened the box, and maybe I should have realized it, was that the Simplisafe door lock series 2 does not include a deadbolt like some of the other keypad locks I have used in the past. This system works with the existing deadbolt lock and only replaces the inside part of the lock and uses a keypad on the outside of the door. One advangage of this type of lock is that you can still use your key to open the lock if it becomes necessary. There shouldn't be any tools required to install the system on your door and should only take about thirty minutes. Connecting the lock to your existing simplisafe system is not difficult and only takes a couple more minutes to complete. Because it is a part of your simplisafe system, you can control the functions through the simplisafe app and you can receive alerts from this device so that you know when and who is entering through that door. Overall, this is a nice addition to the simplisafe system that I have in my home and it makes home access and security much more convenient for the whole family.

This lock is a wonderful product. It is stylish, easy to use, and even easier to install. The biggest caveat is that you have to have a simplisafe system already for use. PROS: Ease of install/ setup - This lock comes with detailed instructions and various adapters to make install a breeze. The setup with the app (I already had a previously installed simplisafe security system) was so easy I was actually surprised when it finished so quickly (shout out Michael Scott). Functionality - I love how seamless it is to use this lock. either via the app or the pin pad I don't ever have to worry about this thing not working right. The rules you can set up are great: Autolock for people who might be forgetful of keeping their door locked and especially the integration with the lock pad (auto locking with security status). Cons: As mentioned briefly above, it would be great if this lock could be used independently of the simplisafe ecosystem. I understand that there might be technical dependencies, but I think anyone would love this lock, even if they didn't want a full system. In summary: this thing is great. you will not be disappointed.

As a somewhat newer customer of SimpliSafe, I wasn't sure what to expect with the service and products, but I have been pleasantly surprised. This is the first product I have added to our system and it was a very easy install. This is a great way to lock your home and eliminate the need for a key. My husband said the installation was simple - all that was needed was a screwdriver. Once the lock was installed, it went through a calibration process. You then add it to the SimpliSafe system and you are ready to go. You can hard mount the keypad or use a sticky mounts that are provided. I would suggest hard mounting it once you know where you want it just for security purposes. People are weird and you never know who might try to walk off with the key pad. The best part of the smart lock is the ability to set your alarm and lock or unlock your doors at the same time. When you enter your alarm code into your key pad, it disarms your alarm. This is helpful if you ever need to give a "key" to dog walker, house sitter, or anyone else. They don't need a key and then also have to disarm the alarm.

A Lock on Quality and Execution

[PROS] Easy DIY Installation: Over the years, I've managed to upgrade my DIY skillset, but this lock is a relief for anyone not desiring to do any extra drilling. I was able to get up and running within 30 minutes. The package contains all the necessary tools and adapters so no extra trip to the hardware store was needed. Seamless Integration: For existing SimpliSafe customers, adding the lock is a breeze. The SimpliSafe app streamlines the process by providing a straightforward step by step guide in getting the door lock recognized in your current suite of devices. Highly Responsive: Whenever I need to get in the house, I'm in there without issue. Whether I'm using the keypad or my phone, the smart lock opens immediately. Side note: it doesn't require Wi-Fi, but I use it anyway to reduce latency. [CONS] Requires SimpliSafe Security System: Unfortunately, you'll need to have preexisting service to use this device. You cannot use it as a standalone device. No Fingerprint Reader: A fingerprint reader is not necessary, but it does add another layer of ability. Smart Locks now come with a variety of options of how to unlock the device. This includes NFC, Finger Prints, RFID cards, and other methods. However, the phone and keypad is the most simplest way so I can't knock the company for going this route. Lack of Different Finishes: The Smart Lock only comes in two colors: Black or White. I'm not bothered by the choices, but some would prefer a bronze or nickel color in order to match the prior deadbolt color. [CONCLUSION] The SImpliSafe Smart Lock is easy to setup and competent in its execution. There's not much too dislike with how this product was made. I'm able to lock my doors with an additional peace of mind.

Easiest way to go smart lock!

So I use a full simplisafe system with my home and have always loved it. I used the older series 1 version of this smart lock in the past. This is probably the easiest way to convert your door access to be “smart” out there. It uses your existing single cylinder deadbolt already in your door you simply install this on the inside. The reason this is so nice compared to others is that even if you live in an apartment for example where you can’t change the locks you can easily still use this system and retain the factory key as the outside doesn’t change! It actually installs just with a screwdriver so no drilling and no nonsense to deal with. This gives you the ability to use either your key as normal manually or you can use the keypad that is included and when you type your pin you both unlock the door and disarm your alarm system (or arm when you lock) which is extremely convenient. I’ve had no issues with connection to the base station at all or my phone app. Of course with the app integration you have full control over this like with the rest of your accessories such as lock or unlock remotely from anywhere, checking the status on the fly and even checking a lot of who may have gone in and out and times. You can set up automations to have it lock or unlock depending on your coming or going which is also excellent. If someone is entering the wrong pin or messing around it will send you a notification so you can see (or check camera if you have one). Given this comes in white or black it’s a sure enough match for any door out there to not look out of place. I don’t think there is an easier way to go smart and for the money don’t think there is a better value out there either. I would highly recommend this setup to anyone in the market even if you have to buy a base station and it’s your first accessory because it’s all worth it.

I've been using Simplisafe for quite a while now and was interested in adding a lock like this to one of my entry doors incase someone got locked out or just to allow me to ensure its locked when I'm away. While there are some nice options out there I really didn't want to have yet another different brand and probably another different app to operate the lock as I wanted to. Thankfully Simplisafe has added smart locks to their lineup, and this one was the perfect option for me. What I really liked about this particular option in my installation use case is that it would retain the outer lock. Some might think this is Simplisafe just being cheap out but what it allows is to keep your matching exterior deadbolt so you don't have to worry about it looking different than the other locks around your home or end up being a slight different color than what you thought. Installation was pretty straight forward, the only thing I could potentially consider complex is ensuring you pick the correct style spacer/adapter for your deadbolt latch. Pairing it with my system was also extremely easy and now I can see when its locked/unlocked, set up entry passcodes that people can use with the remote number pad that is included, or let myself in the house if I manage to get locked out. I suppose the only potential drawback for some is that the interior side of the deadbolt is only available in white or black. That wasn't a problem for me and I have enjoyed having this piece of equipment added to my home security suite. If you are a Simplisafe subscriber and are looking for a smart lock I don't know why you'd look anywhere else.

SimpliSafe - Smart Lock Series 2

TL;DR: 1. SETUP: It was pretty easy and quick. 2. USE: Works with the SimpliSafe system and app. 3. USABILITY: The app functions well and is a good addition to the overall system. 4. OVERALL: It was easy to install, works well, and is nicely integrated into the SimpliSafe security system. I’ve been using a Schlage Smartlock system for a few years and like its functionality. Since I have SimpliSafe, I figured this would be a good update as it would integrate within the app. On the older Schlage, I would manually add passcodes on the lock itself for family and friends to enter while I’m home or not. It works well, but can take time adding and removing numbers - there’s a learning curve, so it’s fine now. I also have the lock set to automatically engage after 30 seconds, too. I like the functionality, but also wanted to integrate everything into one spot. With the 5+ year-old device, I would need a separate bridge to integrate with HomeKit, so I decided to change it up. When installing, surprisingly everything lined up properly (which rarely seems to happen). I had everything up and running within a few minutes. The app has been great. I can program everything through it at home or on the go. Overall, I like the functionality. I would recommend it only if you already have SimpliSafe or are planning on getting it, as you need it for this to operate.

The SimpliSafe Smart Lock series 2 is a fantastic addition to any home, whether it be a house or an apartment. In most cases it will work on either as long as your landlord will allow it. If you don't own your property. Installation is a snap, not requiring any heavy duty tools or work, just screwdrivers and 20 to 30 minutes tops. The best part of this installation is it doesn't require any permanent changes to your current setup, meaning you don't need to replace your existing lock, and you can restore it to the way it looked if you end up moving. Once installed, your door and your life will be transformed. You can set all kinds of rules. For your lock, to ensure that it locks your doors at night, or at times when you might expect to be gone. From the house, you can have it set to automatically lock behind you, and you can even unlock your door remotely in case company arrives to your house before you do. Additionally, the keypad gives you the ability to create custom codes for individuals, such as contractors that might be doing work in your house. This allows them to easily come and go, and you can keep track of who is entering and leaving your house. The lock itself is very stylish and sleek, making it a great addition to any style of home.

Not a lot to say about a door lock but easily one of the best I have. The SimpliSafe Smart Lock Series 2 is great and goes with my SimpliSafe system (in this house). I have a few homes, a few doors and a few locks. I decided I'd put this one on my office. Kids are always running in and out and hunting for things. Including but not limited to Christmas presents. Things up to my SimpliSafe security system with ease. No shock there. Well it isn't terribly difficult to install and easy to sync up to the app. Not much else I can say or needs to be said. I would say make sure to have a professional or somebody who really knows what they're doing, install it. It's not really novice work. The technology part that's the easy part but the physical part was a little challenging. I imagine this works pretty good by itself and without a complete SimpliSafe system but I get the feeling it works a lot better with the entire system intact. I almost want to try it without the whole system just to see how it acts on its own. Pretty sure it's cool. So whether you have the entire system or not, are you just looking for a pretty good door lock? This thing which is made out of wolverine metal cuz it's really heavy, will definitely get the job done. Highly recommend it.

Do not buy this smart lock

This is the worst smart lock. I’m now on my third replacement. The original lock stopped connecting to my base station, the second one (first replacement) the deadbolt just completely stopped moving (stuck in the locked position and nothing would unjam it) and the third one (second replacement) is still technically working but every time I arm my Simplisafe alarm, I get an error message that the lock is not connected, even though all lock features seem to be working fine. I’m incredibly frustrated with Simplisafe. They spend so much money on marketing but their technology just flat out sucks. DO NOT PURCHASE THEIR SYSTEMS.

Bad product. Randomly stopped working when using for rental- replaced & a few months later tried to delete codes- deleted from app, deleted from keypad but code still unlocked door. Customer service was no help. Trashing this product

The lock is on, I’ve had some issues with it since I’ve gotten it, often having to hit the lock button multiple times or it being unresponsive. However the biggest issue is the customer support with SimpliSafe, honestly the worst I’ve experienced. I would choose a different system if I could go back.
