Customers enjoy the ease of use, sound quality, and reception of this product. Many also found installation to be straightforward. However, some users experienced challenges with the FM transmitter functionality. Overall, positive feedback on audio performance outweighs the reported issues with the transmitter.

My BMW has a cigarette lighter adapter in the glovebox so I plug the skydock in there and run a 6' Dock Extender Cable behind the dashboard that terminates near my shifter. It makes for a stealth installation. I hightly recommend this method if your car has a cigarette lighter adapter hidden somewhere.
Also, I already had an aux input plug so I don't have to use the FM Modulator.
The application itself works great and love that you can tag a song then given the option of the app letting you know everytime that song plays or everytime a song by that artist plays on any of the XM stations.

This was a perfect solution for me. If I wanted satellite in my Mercedes (the unit that came with the car didn't have satellite functionality) I would have to have a new head unit installed and have the entire car reprogrammed to the tune of about $4500. Of course this is ridiculous when I just wanted to listen to satellite tunes. I found this in Best Buy and thought it would be perfect for me. Other than the app turning off and needing to be restarted it works just fine. Of course it sorta gets in the way of certain things in the car but again, it beats spending $4500!

Received this product August for my birthday; no problems until I wanted to remove it and use one of the dual lighter plugs. When taking ouf of socket it tore the whole socket out now I have to spend $100 to have two new sockets installed!! If you dont plan on removing this product its fine, but if you do plan on it ,look out!!!

I bought this to replace my 5+ year old MyFi. First impression is everything, and my first impression was very mixed. After tooling around with it a bit here are my overall impressions.
PROS:
-Very easy to install
-The SkyDock app is very intuitive and easy to use
-Excellent price compared to other full-color XM receivers
-FM Transmitter works with iPod, audio quality is loud and crisp; MUCH better than other FM transmitters I've used with my phone
-"Tagging" feature - if you like a song, you can pull it up in iTunes by touching a button
-As an app, the developers should be able to provide updates to resolve some minor software complaints (see below)
CONS
-If the phone or plug is not very snug, it loses connection very easily
-Even if it's snug, physically moving the iPhone (for example rotating the phone or trying to get to dash controls behind the phone) can still cause it to become disconnected, so the radio shuts off for about 30 seconds while it reconnects
-The buttons/text are so small (channel icons are really hard to read); challenging to use while driving
Because it's fixed to the dash, if you receive a text message it's difficult to reply unless you disconnect the phone altogether. In the interests of driver safety, that's probably not a bad thing.

Great product if you do not wish to puchase a permanent satellite radio for the car. Easy to set up - took about 15 minutes to thread the wire under the windshield and door frame - but it took long enough that I probably would not consider this to be easily movable to other cars. We use the FM station to receive the signal and occassionally get a bit of static, but we live in an urban area where it was hard to find a target station that was full of static for the skydock to use. Overall, great sound. Love that I can play my other songs stored on my iPod Touch. Also love that it charges my unit. The display is great - easy scrolling and searching for songs - love that you can see which song is playing on each station while scrolling through. The arm of skydock is not quite as long as I would like it to be, as my jack is low - feel like I am looking too far away while driving. Despite a few minor issues, LOVE this product.

Great Way to expand your Ipod Touch or I phone

The sky dock makes it so easy to listen to you IPod in your car and expands its capability to allow you to listen to XM satellite radio. The set up was fairly easy, although I recommend paying to have it professionally installed (around $75), that way there will be no wires in sight. Also I recommend using a wired aux cable, the FM modulator works well but if you live in a high density area like NY all frequencies are usually taken and the signal interferes with the modulator signal. Once I had it hard wired and installed, WOW what a great thing to have very easy to control, looks great, listen to XM or your music with no problem and the sound quality is perfect. I highly recommend this product.

This is a great product. As a docking station it works very well, I use it with an I-Touch. It makes for a beautiful XM interface. I had this out of the box and up and running in the car in less than 5 minutes, and that included looking for my keys. The antenna is on my dash, in the corner, and I can easily move it from car to car. The only visible wire is at each end. The FM transmitter is a bit of a challenge because I commute into a different radio market. But I have found stations in both, with occasional static popping up. The SF Bay Area has spots of poor radio signals because of the hills. I have an older car with a casette deck, and I have found this method of connection to be more functional, albeit an extra cord. Sound qaulity is fine. If you are looking for a great docking station for your I-Touch or I-Phone, and XM, you cannot beat this product. And as others have mentioned, you have your I-Tunes library at your disposal as well. This product has made my commute so much more enjoyable!

Ipod + XM Radio = True Love!

Putting these two together is a freaking match made by the music gods! I am SO happy with this purchase. I love XM Radio. I love my ipod. THANK YOU for making this product and for making it affordable. I can switch easily between my XM stations directly on my ipod touch screen OR i can go over to my itunes and play an artist or playlist or whatever I want, listen to a book on a long drive.
You just download the free XM Skydock app on itunes then select the app on your itouch/iphone. It so easy to use, great quality. I have been tagging new songs I like just by touching the "tag" icon. Honestly, I am so happy, this is one of the best purchases I have ever made. My reception has been clear. No More FM!! I was just one more Nickelback song away from driving off a cliff.

Good Product Needs Some Fine Tuning

Over all this is a good product and happy with the purchase. Some things I have found helpful is the need to have a bluetooth headset or any other connection when you have a call because the iPhone's speaker is not as strong for me to have a conversation while on a call and you will have to remove it from the dock to take a call.
The arm on the dock is a bit stiff and at times have found it hard to find the right position. I was surprised how quickly it charge my iPhone though. Also the car I use it in (MKZ) the FM transmitter is ok but not the best. It could be the car though because my last XM radio had the sureconnect with the radio and it worked great until the radio died. Tried to use it here but it didn't work. It works well in my MINI Coper but again the dock arm can be a challenge. The dock also allows you to keep your case on. I have a Contour Showcase which is pretty thick and I have no issues at all with it.
The App itself is pretty good. I wish when it was running the screen would dim or have a screen saver come on. I'm not sure if after awhile the image of the player would get burned into the screen or not. For the most part I just hit the sleep button on the phone.

Great option for adding XM to a vehicle

This is a great product that easily and simply plays XM with an antenna and 3.5mm jack through your car stereo. I have had one for two years and love it. puchased this for my kid because of great price and easy install. The rewind feature (and pause feature) are great and the reception and sound quality are very high. The ability to tag songs you like for future purchase or to identify they are playing on another station makes the product really shine. I have been very pleased and strongly recommend the product. it will not fit all cars, so it is best to know where the accessory plug sits on the dash before buying.

Plug in XM satellite receivers have come a long way. This one works great. Hasn't lost reception yet (1 month). Easy to use. The app you download for it is by far the best tuner for XM that I have seen. It is worth the purchase for that feature alone.

Good integration of Ipod and Satelite radio

Works real good as a satelite reciever and player. Has a nice display and scrolling options which allow you preview what is playing on other stations before switching. Only two drawbacks but they're not severe; 1 is the complete unit plugs into the power supply. At times the top weight of the unit can cause it to twist in the power supply and it will flop over. The other is that it can be very dangerous to channel surf while driving, especially if your power supply is very low on the instrument panel.

Amazing Dock for Iphone

I've been looking for a good FM Transmitter to use in my 2003 Jeep Wrangler with my iPhone. Honestly I could careless about XM Radio, this dock is amazing and I’m blown away by the ease of use. I walked out of Best Buy opened the box plug it in found a un-used radio station and listened to my ipod on the way home it was just that simple to set up! I couldn't be happier and my stock jeep radio never sounded so good!

when I saw that this was coming I thought, ok how would this work? I was surprised. Total time from getting it at Best Buy to being installed 2 hours and 15 minutes. The travel time from the store was 2 hours and 10 minutes. So that gives ya a hint that you can literally have it installed and ready to activate in 5 minutes and I am not even kidding. The sound quality is amazing compared to my other Sirius receiver using FM modulation. I did a side by side test both receivers in my 1999 Chevy pickup with factory stereo, so no aux slots to plug into for the best quality, Trust me with the skydock you don't need it even though it's there. I recommend anyone with an ipod touch go out and get the skydock even if you don't want satellite radio, the quality of how the music from your ipod via the FM connection thru there powerconnect system is amazing even without satellite radio service. You won't get a better deal out there on a satellite radio, I could literally move it from my truck to my mom's SUV in 2 minutes.

OK, thought this item would be adequate at best. I am pleasantly surprised that it works well. For reference, I have a 2007 BMW 750i with the iDrive system but did not want to pay $900 to have XM installed in my car. So, I hooked it up, called XM and voila, all set. The only problem is I hate having that silly antenna on my roof but i was able to snake it around the passenger side footwell and hide the cord underneath the windshield weather stripping so you see no wires except for about an inch between the unit and my lower dash, hardly there at all.
The only issue I have is that since I have an iphone, when a call comes in or when I choose to make a call or check email or use another app, the XM stops playing and you have to re-select that app to listen to XM again. It isn't the worst thing in the world, but it's not perfect. I haven't tried to use the suggested FM channels yet, the one I chose on my own sounds decent. Hoping for better quality with the XM suggested channel from the website.
All in all, a good product and I would recommend it.

A Minimalistic Approach for XM Radio

The Sky Dock is quite amazing in my opinion. It's easy to install and small enough to conceal when you're out of the vehicle. My iPod Touch (1st generation) recharges through the base while in use, and thanks to a recent software update from the manufacturer, we now have bi-directional controls! In other words, you can now go back and forth between GPS (iPhone users), email or any other application while continuing to listen to your XM radio in the background. Though this feature should make most users of the Sky Dock a lot happier, I'm most thankful that I don't have to carry yet another device with me when I leave my vehicle.
My only recommendation is to pick up the FMDA25 Sirius "FM Transmitter" kit with the Sky Dock unit; Best Buy sells this kit. The Sky Dock does permit wireless FM station transmission, but most of the the audio that I heard was full of static while doing so. The Sirius FMDA25 kit plugs into the Sky Dock, then simply connects in series with the FM antenna plug to the back of your stereo in your vehicle. Sync the iPhone/iPod with a non-used FM station while in use with your Sky Dock and the audio should be crystal clear! All in all, I couldn't be happier with the Sky Dock and its features.

I love this product, but it has resulted in damage to both power outlets in my VW Passat. I depend on this radio for my daily commute to and from work. Makes the ride a joy. Easy to change out to another vehicle when I have a rental or use my wife's car. Plug apparently is too snug for the power outlet and has left me with a repair bill of over $200.

Excellent Multi-Purpose Option

This product allows both satellite radio and iPod music to be played through the radio with as few adaptors as possible. It is installed with the FM tuner and it lets both satellite radio and iPod music to be played in the car without switching through different dead radio stations. This was a significant improvement over playing the iPod through the over-the-air FM adaptors. Standard installation was easy and, if you don't mind switching the radio stations, the FM Direct playback worked well. I had Best Buy install the FM tuner, and after some initial confusion, because they hadn't installed this unit before, they did a good job with it.
