Within 15 minutes the gimbal freaked out and started spinning uncontrollably to the point I was concerned it was going to throw my phone out of it. After that it went back into the box and back to best buy.

The biggest issue is this product will just start spinning for no reason. Second it gets confused and will flop about. Third you can't take still picture using the wand. There is not an interface between this product and your smartphone.

I could not get the gimbal to calibrate properly. It would randomly spin my phone around and ruin the shot, even after calibrating it multiple times. The negative end of the battery terminal also came apart a few times.

Terrible Product - Terrible Customer Service

Buyer Beware. This was a very fun and useful product - at first. Until after a couple months the gimbal would have a mind of it's own and violently spin around to the point of actually launching my phone across the room! So I contacted SkyLab Support. They were friendly, but far from helpful. First I was asked to calibrate the gimbal. Did that. Then I was asked to download a set of files that included some firmware updates. Did that. Then it was a combination of resetting the gimbal and reinstalling the firmware updates. Did that. None of this helped. I'm tech savvy, but the normal consumer likely will never want to go through this much trouble much less know how to unzip files and upload the program into the gimbal. Finally they asked for my address and I thought they would repair or replace - Nope! They wanted to send a foam sticker to pad where the phone meets the gimbal. I sent them info and photos as requested, but it was all a runaround to waste time. They absolutely refused to repair or replace the gimbal because I didn't have my receipt and used cash instead of Credit Card. If you are considering this product, please take my advice and go with a different company, one that will actually stand behind their product!

Bad straight out of the box

I purchased this gimbal after researching different smartphone gimbals and this seemed like the one for me. Also, it was on sale which made it $100 less than the Dji gimbal which I had considered purchasing as well. When I got home, opened up the case, I unscrewed the cap to the battery compartment to load the batteries. The cap immediately fell apart and the spring flew out across the room. I was on my hands and knees for an hour looking for the spring. I finally found it but was unable to even put the cap back together. The next day I went back to the Best Buy I purchased it at and exchanged it for another gimbal. When I got to the car, I decided to check the cap on the new one before I left. Sure enough, the exact same thing happened. I immediately went back into the store and grabbed the other 3 gimbals in the store and brought them to the return desk along with mine. The Best Buy employee opened a new one and in this one, the cap did the same thing. We opened the second box and that cap was already apart in the box. On the 3rd box, we unscrewed the cap and the rubber gasket that holds the spring and cap together was jammed down into the battery compartment and of course, the cap came apart. One bad cap I would consider a fluke but bad battery compartment caps on 5 of them?! Needless to say I returned it for a refund. When there wasn't an extended warranty/repair plan offered on this gimbal like there is on the Dji, that should have been my first clue. The only place to purchase this gimbal is at Best Buy. You cannot purchase them directly from Skylab. I am not going to drive around to different Best Buy stores looking for it and then opening it to inspect it before purchasing it. On the Skylab website under 'accessories', they sell a replacement battery compartment cap and now I know why. If anyone reading this is considering purchasing one, be sure to open the package first and carefully inspect the cap to the battery compartment and keep in mind that there's no service plan available for this item and only a 15 day return window. Buyer beware.

I got this version because I don't have a go pro any more and it's more than perfect. Very easy to use, works with my iPhone 6 plus and my girlfriends iPhone 5. We went on trip last week and took quite a few videos with it and looking back our videos and pics from out trip....purely amazing. Thanks to the stabilizing gimbal, we got some terrific footage to aid are terrific memories.
