Got this as a gift for a relative, and he enjoys playing it. Controls and menus are easy enough to navigate for a 6 year old, and game play is lots of fun for them to collect characters and fight bad guys in the game. Also compatible with earlier Skylanders figures.

I've had way too much fun to not write a review! Parent, casual gamer, and fan of games that can be played out of the box without being a professional gamer. I had gotten frustrated with the "play for 100 hours, die countless times, and only be part way through a game" and was looking for something easy to play but engaging. I ran across Skylanders (its Disney counterpart) and chose it over its counterpart as it had been out longer and had as good, if not better, reviews. Hooked from the moment of go, easy to play, hilarious storyline and very entertaining. There's a repetitive part of coin farming to upgrade your current character and your bank stays with each character (e.g. starts at zero for each one) but the good news is that coins are plentiful. Also, had to research some of the upgrade paths which can be difficult to choose from (not enough information at choice time on the "better" path and need to research using your favorite search engine). I have a few upgrade path regrets but would have to start the character over. Anyhow, I ended up picking up additional characters with different characteristics so I could play other areas not accessible with the starter pack - that's exactly what they want you to do... <cha ching> and I did... hook line and $inker, tattoo, mug, t-$hirt etc. My teenagers laughed that their Dad was playing the game but soon were clamoring to play too - hmmm, maybe later but not until after I've had my fill! Seriously, if you are looking for something entertaining and which doesn't require a lot of professional gaming or hard thinking, you may want to consider this game with lots of replay value (IMHO). Oh, and aside from the standard destroy everything in sight, no blood or gore - a plus for parents with younger kids.

Grandpa had fun too. Our grandson had the Skylander games on his DS at his home. So we bought the Skylanders starter pack for the WII U we had at (Grandma and Grandpas) our house and he was thrilled. It was a great addition fo our game collection. I think by far it's our grandson favorite video game, We will soon be adding more of his favorite Swap Force characters.

This product was on sale for a really good price. Even though it's not the newest skylanders, it still is really fun. My kids have spent a lot of time playing it and haven't lost interest yet.

Five of us take turns bouncing skylanders on and off the Wii U and having a blast. Many afternoons have been lost to this game, it has been awesome!

New Skylanders game that will suck the money from your wallet. We have both of the previous games and my son (8) loves them, but the characters add up quickly. I would bet that we've got $500+ tied up in the games so far (not including software). Someone in the gaming industry is an evil genius, because kids LOVE this game and they keep coming up with new variations on the characters. Can't not reccommend based on that, but be careful; it can be expensive if you're a completist and want all the characters.

this is a great starter pack if your child is getting into the skylander scene. has a lot of characters that can be swaped for different powers.

bought this for my 3 year old. He loves it and can play on his own and it keeps him entertained without needing older siblings to help him play. The old skylander characters can be used in this game as well. The only drawback is all the new worlds require swap force characters that you have to buy in order to access those worlds. Other than that minor issue the game is fun and perfect for kids

Bought this game because my son wanted it for his bday. Found it here at an excellent price! He hasn't played it yet but it seems like a cool game.

I was never a big fan of Skylanders Giants. The toys were expensive and the gameplay was sluggish. We bought this for our 4 year old and wow - what a treat! They've upped the bar on graphics, responsiveness and playability -- you can jump now too, which makes things feel much more open and free! Great game!

Got this at the holiday season for my nephew he loves it. He's playing it every chance he gets.

Great fun to play with great storyline. Areas are full of surprises and hidden areas. Integration with giants adds even more surprises. Love all the different swapped configurations of characters and all the choices. Love the 2nd and 3rd series characters and how they have changed

I recommend Skylanders swapforce because it keeps players interested with different characters and arenas. Discovering power ups, weapons, and different levels allows for better competition.

Got the Skylanders swap force set initially for the Xbox 360. Exchanged it for the Wii U set to use with our new console. I had a $10 off coupon which made the whole thing $30. Great deal. The kids love it!

I bought this game for my nephew for christmas and he loves it. He has both of the other games in the series for the Wii so getting a Wii U and this was a nice upgrade. The games look good and is fun. My nephew is 8 years old and the game difficulty is just right for him. He loves getting new figures and playing this with other people.
