I did not stick with Sling for a few major reasons:
1. No DVR
2. Lack of some local networks
3. Commercials and ads (can't skip)
The good points include the ability to somewhat pick a reasonably priced sports package but you still get all the S#$% channels as you must pick from a blue or orange plan. Not the a la cart advertised. The GUI is a pain and needs to be cleaned up but if you are used to the mess of Amazon Prime then you will be fine with Sling's GUI as info is scattered everywhere with no particular easy way to do anything or pick up on previously viewed shows/series and continue if you left in the middle of a show. Hopefully soon one of these devices with include a true a la cart, dvr and local channels. Seems so simple but no one is doing it other then the sat/cable companies but the whole point here is to cut the cord. To get to my goal of cord cutting I would need to buy a OTA antenna, TIVO and mini Tivo, but then I am back where I started with Direct TV as Tivo requires a subscription again.

Sling TV - Good Product

When I decided to cut the cable cord, I bought an indoor antenna and a Roku streaming device and began my subscription to Sling. To be fair, I am going through cable TV withdrawal - I have had cable since the early 80s - and life after cable has been an adjustment. However, Sling does an admirable job with connecting me to the TV stations that I used to watch and offers a very clear picture. The cost is good, I get a lot of channels I like, and it is easy to use. It just takes some getting accustomed to the new setup. Bottom line - cable TV is easier and offers more options but costs A LOT; Sling is much less expensive and offers a lot of the cable channels I watch. All in all, Sling was the right choice for me at this point in my life.

Got the 14 day trial to Sling when I was cutting the cord while buying an over the air antenna. Sling has a good mix of channels and there weren't any issues with the streaming. If you're a sports fan, there's plenty here to keep you going. There's also a good mix of other channels. I didn't keep it because I want a true a la carte experience where I choose only the channels I'm interested in. Otherwise it was fine.

Great Service, needs a few more package options

Sling overall is a great service. Much better than DirecTv Now (since they upgraded and it constantly buffers and they keep adding services and charging more without letting the added services be an option). I don't recall much buffering if any at all when I used the service for a couple months. They only offer 3 packages (Sling Orange, Sling Blue, or both). For the few channels offered that I actually watch on a consistent basis, it just was not worth the price to pay for both packages or even a single package and still not get a few of the channels I watch.

Good Over the Top Service for the Price

When Sling TV came out, I jumped on the opportunity to get rid of my $200+ satellite bill and I was a loyal customer for a long time... until DirecTV Now came out. To me DirecTV Now has a clearer picture and a more user-friendly layout. The big advantage that Sling TV has over DirecTV Now is Cloud DVR (coming soon to DirecTV Now) and the numerous foreign language packages (fairly pricey though). If you don't care as much about either of these two things, I think DirecTV Now is a better option overall. Sling TV is a solid service though

SlingTV Trial Service

I gave SlingTV trial for a few weeks. The service had many different options to choose which best fit your interest, even international channels as well.
However, there are some downsides. The UI that you interact with is cumbersome, not so smooth and interactive.
The international options such as Mandarin/Cantonese were of low quality. There was good selection but the quality wasn't clear as the domestic channels.
if you were interested in domestic channels, it's a good choice.

Took sling Tv membership for $25 for Indian (Hindi) channels. the HD contents are good for those sling promise in HD. but the number of channels are so limited in the package to live with sling for a long time.
Sling should come up with an attractive combination of movies/kids/entertainment package with the affordable price range.
FYI, just discontinued the service after one-month usage, not because of contents/quality but just because the number of channels is less in that package.

This was a decent streaming service when we used it. We got a 30 day plan when we bought an Amazon Fire TV. Unfortunately we canceled this plan because of the fact that our cable bills were in excess and we just didn't need to add more but I would highly recommend this for someone who doesn't have a bunch of streaming services that they currently paid for even though this other free TV services out there this one is good for what you pay for.

Had the Sling free trial related to a 65 inch TCL TV purchase. Connect the TV, signed up for Sling, used it to test the functionality of the web enabled TV. Web worked fine, but the TV was defective from a sound perspective. By the time they had the replacement TV in stock, the trial had expired. I did sign up for additional Sling service, and it works well on the new TV. Easy to subscribe/unsubscribe for 2nd home purposes, like mine.

Cord cutting

I have received the 2 week trial for purchasing an Apple 4k tv and just started using it. The picture quality is pretty good but noticed it has almost a minute delay from my current Comcast signal as I am testing out prior to cutting the cord. Seems like a possible option if you don't mind streaming, want to save money and can deal with the loading of channels (but really not that annoying). Will be trying other streaming options as well!

If you want to "cut the cord" and have a solid internet connection, Sling can be a great option. There's a strong selection of channels and options to build a fairly affordable package, and Cloud DVR service is available. If you want local channels, you will need an antenna, something that isn't really well covered, but otherwise you can get almost anything you would get from the Cable company, for less.

I purchased this Antenna to help with my cable-cutting venture. Living in the suburbs, I did not need a super powerful one. Connection was simple as well as locating to my window. I have a LG Smart TV with both a hook up and usb for power. It does have an adapter if you need to plug it in the wall. Additionally, it came with a 14-day subscription to Sling which I have never used before. So far so good.

My daughter doesn't have cable in her apartment so this is an interesting option and its nice that they offer a free two-week trial, as long as she is prepared to cancel before her credit card is charged if she doesn't want to keep it. On the plus side, it runs cheaper than cable. On the down side, its appeal lessens quite a bit if you already have access to Netflix, plus have Apple TV with access to many of the same kinds of free content channels (like Pluto, etc) via its TV app and downloading many others. And if you have an HD TV antenna with a box like HDHomeRun Connect Duo and the Channels app to make watching local broadcast TV seamless directly on Apple TV (which were part of her Christmas present). Also on the downside is when you load up on Sling's premium "Blue" service, plus add additional a-la-carte options, you start to get real close to what Cable TV companies are charging, which is way overpriced. I guess it depends on the type of content you consume and its overall value to you when it comes to paying monthly for it.

I cut the cable a year ago and tried all the "free" TV apps. Sling is okay, but could never get the live TV as advertised without having to pay more. I used the 30 day free trial, then upgraded and ended up paying to watch the extra channels. After about a month, I felt it really wasn't what I was looking for. But, if you're looking for a simple way to watch live TV, this would work.

Absolutely nothing wrong with Sling. I tested all of the streaming services out and went with Hulu basic and Direct TV Now for specific reasons. With ATT unlimited wireless, you get $25 off of your bill a month and free HBO. This makes Direct TV Now, the cheapest out there with a plan as low as $10 a month. If it wasn't for the ATT discounts, I would have totally went with Sling.

Sling is Meh

I have actually had SlingTV for a few years now. It's okay, but it's a tweener service. It has channels instead of streams, so only some things are on demand - but it doesn't have a lot of channels either, so it's not really good at either thing. I have been thinking of dumping it for Spectrum's 10 channels for $20 offer since that would allow me locals - which Sling can't offer (hence why it's bundled with an HDTV antenna). Locals are more valuable since I live in a spot where broadcast reception is iffy and sometimes it would be nice to watch football on my phone without an additional subscription from the NFL (after all, why pay all these different fees for all these different use cases)? Anyway to me Sling is good for ESPN and so my wife can watch HGTV. Beyond that it's got about 20 other channels we don't really want or need, since we mostly watch services like Netflix and Hulu. If what you really want is channels instead of services, you're probably better off with cable or satellite.

For someone who wants to go sans cable and wants local stations, this antenna is great! It's VERY easy to install right out of the package, can be painted to match wall color if needed and provides a decent amount of local stations (although we are not able to get NBC for some reason) ... The closer you can get it to a window the better.

Best Collection of Channels For My Tastes

Love the growing number of choices for TV providers nowadays. SlingTV has become the service I prefer the most. They offer many of the most popular channels - but what sets them apart for me is the fact they offer a lot of the 'less-glamorous' channels that, to me, have some of the most interesting programming available.
Sling has a very nice user-interface which they continue to upgrade and improve on a continuous basis.
There's a nice blend of live and on-demand programming - and - the picture quality on my receivers is excellent. I experience virtually no buffering problems - and I love the fact Sling allows you to choose the quality of picture you wish to receive. For those of us who have ISP's who strangle us with caps, it's nice that we can adjust how much data we consume. Even choosing a 'lower-quality' bitrate from Sling, I receive an excellent picture quality.
I'm always keeping my eyes out on all the new services and what they have to offer - but for now, SlingTV is best for me.

Sling TV is one of many services that allows you access to channels and streaming services via the internet. With the increase in internet speeds we are getting closer to being able to eliminate cable bills. I like the selection on Sling and once my xfinity contract is up I will just keep the internet and move to pay as you go services like Sling
