I had no say on selecting this item. It was required with the purchase of a new electrical range. It was part of the installation-so the store adds it on automatically. That being said, this was a 3 prong electrical cord that I need for my outlet. Some outlets are 4 prong depending on age of your home. In my opinion, I didnt need the cord to be that long. A shorter one would have been a better fit. I was not asked nor offered any options-sort of one size fits all mentality. I say this because a shorter cord (and I know they exist) such as a 4 foot one would have been sufficient since my electrical socket was located directly behind the stove. I didnt have any say in selecting this item. It was added in as part of the purchase/installation. As I said, a shorter cord would have made the installation easier. Upon installation, the man had a difficult time trying to tuck away the extra length of the cord so the range could go flush to the back wall. This is a very wide cord and not very pliable. Happily, after removing the bottom draw of the oven, he was able to adjust it so the range could get closer into the space along the back wall.
