In all the times I've used the Geek Squad, this has been the best service ever! Cody is awesome! He called the day before to give me his name, and the time he would be at my home. The day of the install, he called before coming, and was here at the time he quoted. Cody installed the new thermostat, and he showed everything I needed to know to use my new thermostat. Cody is knowledgeable and a great person to do business with. He is an asset to your company.

I bought two smart thermostats and installation. When the man got to my house he said he only had a work order for one thermostat and he called his boss who told him I only paid to install one of them. I pointed out that yes, I did buy two units but I bought the installation at the same time. I was told by the boss that I had to pay before he could do the work. I subscribe to the Total Tech Service plan and I have always loved it. This time we had a hiccup. I paid that Boss with a MasterCard before she would let him install the second one but their price for that one was twice the fee paid for the first one...
Have y’all got all that? I Love Geek Squad but they subcontracted to a third party and that’s what I got.
The BEST TEAM! Always supported truly cared about.

The agents were very professional. My wires were so short they could not hook up the Nest. They did go thru the connection wire matching so I would know how to do it. After I finished splicing in an extension of the wires it worked perfectly.

The technician seemed to know what he was doing, but was in a terrible rush to finish my installation and get on to the next one. He had me install the app to run the thermostat, then took my phone out of my hands to complete the process. Consequently, I have no idea what he did or how it was set up. He was not the least bit knowledgeable about how the thermostat actually functions except to turn it on and off. It’s supposed to be a “smart” device. Turning it on and off manually was what I did with my prior thermostat. I didn’t need to spend $250 for that function. Additionally, included in the box with the thermostat was a nice little screwdriver to us in installation. As he was finishing up, I remarked in passing on what a useful size it was (I’m female and have small, arthritic hands), so he said “here, do you want it?” Now it’s mine, it was included in the box with the thermostat, and he’s acting like he’s giving me a gift. VERY unprofessional. The installation itself was fine, although he didn’t offer to clean up the floor where some paint and plaster chips had fallen. Overall, just disappointing when this wasn’t a project I felt I could take on myself.

The Ecobee was installed and works but the presale description "that the installer could handle the wiring for the humidifier" was not true. The installer said "he is not an electrician" and would not hock up the wire that was there to the furnace so that I could use the humidifier change features of the Ecobee 5 versus the 3. I specifically paid more for the 5 for the humidifier feature. Total Tech needs to get their act together in terms of what or what not the technician will do in the presale calls.

Very professional was on time.a courtesy call when was 10-15min away. Seem to very knowledgeable about his job and was able to install my smart thermostat. Was nice to only explain once the task as wanted and he done everything we wanted done in the project. I would recommend him to friends family. Friendly, knowledgeable ,punctual, and cleaned as he went along. 5 stars from me. Thanks for everything appreciate it.

When we first purchased this iteam Best Buy sent a 3rd party company out to install them. The first set of guys couldn’t get them to work so they reinstalled the original thermostat and they no longer worked. They left and told me to find an electrician to get my air working again. Went into Best Buy to get things straightened out and the store managers were very helpful and after a couple weeks we finally got them installed by the in house geek squad guys.

The installer seemed to have some difficulty with the wiring and it took longer than expected for the install. Also when I inquired about the humidity setting he did not know how to answer the question and said "it would take care of itself". Since it has been installed we have gotten high humidity "warmings" so my guess is it was not set properly. I will be calling ecobee as well as Best Buy to get this addressed. This is the first time geek squad did not exceed my expectations...

First let me say, I LOVE the Geek Squad. They come to the house and smile and talk and give information at the same time they fix/install things. They are friendly and helpful. They arrived on time and helped finish the install of the smart thermostats on our phones which we had done incorrectly. They never laughed at my ineptness or were critical. Just friendly and helpful. I don't think I've ever met a Best Buy geek (whether they're working behind a counter or helping at home) that wasn't nice. Good JOB!!!

I first bought a LUX thermostat and did not know I would need a c wire for this to be completed, the tech said to have an electrician install a C-wire, so I decided to exchange the lux for the ecobee with the power extender, had another Geek Squad guy come by and he opened my furnace and said he could not connect it as my furnace is old, so instead of wasting more time with geek squad, I called an HVAC/ Air Conditioning service and the guy inspected my furnace which was fine but he replaced a part as it was old and installed the ecobee. The wires were right on top of the furnace so the geek squad Technician aparantly was never trained to install a C-wire extender on an older furnace. So, I would not recommend using them if you need to install a thermostat that requires a C-wire and you have an older furnace. If you have an update to date furnace than you will likely have the panel which is easier to install a C-wire extender. Thanks for trying Geek Squad but if my computer or TV has issues, than I'll call you.

Let me say first that all my experiences with Geek Squad directly have been wonderful. No issues. However, for the install of my Ecobee Smart Thermostat, this was far from the case.
Geek Squad does not do this kind of installation but instead farms out to a 3rd party. The installer who came to install this and my Ring device was perhaps the worst I have ever seen. Did a very poor job on the Ring, and didn't even install the Ecobee. He basically told me to get a NEST instead. He was lazy, and did not know his products. While he was here, he actually took our his phone and googled the products to see how to install.
He told me my house was not wired properly for the Ecobee and that was it.
My wife and I printed out a copy of the full installations instructions for the Ecobeen and it showed exactly how to install. We took that back to Best Buy, and filed a complaint.
The company then sent out 2 other installers who were amazed at the lack of professionalism of the 1st one. They reinstalled the RING device perfectly, tested, made sure I understood all the options and how to set it, etc.
They then turned their attention to the Ecobee, They were amazed to see the majority of the product and parts didn't even look like they were removed from the box at all. They were able to set it up, test and show me all the options for it, and even provided some training on how to use it.
The two gentlemen who came to do the reinstall were wonderful. They empathized with me and just couldn't understand how the 1st person did what he did.
I suggested to them that they review their training procedures with the 1st person and all new hires and provide training updates when new versions of products come out, and to also train their staff (some who desperately need it) on their customer service skills.
I recommend the Geek Squad, but would think twice and carefully if they advise they are using a 3rd party installer.

Install NEST Thermostat

The second technician that came to get our Nest Thermostat was successful on getting it to work on my friend's Android phone. But did not know that passwords are case sensitive, thought we needed to change our WiFI password. It still does not work on my iPhone. The first technician that came out in June was only able to install it for manual use, which did work. He was unable to connect it to the WiFI.
