I recently installed a built in entertainment center and wanted to enclose all of my audio and video equipment but didn't want to keep the doors open to operate everything. This system was easy to set up and works great with all of my devices. I have a Denon receiver, Sony blue ray player and a Motorola cable box and the IR receiver works great with all the components.
I would recommend this to a friend

I've never written a review before. I usually read other people's reviews before buying so I thought I should contribute. (I found helpful reviews on this item at amazon but bought from Best Buy#. Now for the review: Could not be happier. I ordered this on Monday from Best Buy. They promised delivery in something like 5 to 10 days. I received it in 2 days #i.e. Wednesday). Kudos to Best Buy.
My only complaint about this product so far is the plastic packaging. It's the kind that requires a razor blade or knife to open.
As soon as you get it out of the package, it is easy to see how this product should be set up. I went ahead and read the instructions but really did not need to do so in order to hook it up. That added about 5 minutes to my total 15 minute set up time.
I bought this because my TV sits on top of built in cabinets. The cable box and audio/dvd player is in the cabinet below. I always had to keep the opaque/solid doors open in order for my remotes to work on those accessories. Once you put this in, all you have is the little IR receiver exposed.
The IR receiver flashes when it senses your remote working. This feature lets you know it working, which is nice, since you cannot see your accessories inside the cabinet.
On the other end of the unit are little infra red eyes that you attach to the accessory you want to operate. I expected that you had to focus the eye over the IR receiver on the unit you want to operate. However, I just stuck it close to the receiver on my audio/dvd player and it worked. To my surprise, it also worked my cable box, without have to stick one of the IR eyes on it as well.
The only reason I gave this 4 stars and not 5 is because I’ve only owned it for a day.
This seems to work just fine for my accessories. I think I have read this may not work on some types of accessories, like a Direct TV box, so make sure this will work for you before buying. This thing was perfect for what I needed because the accessories are in the cabinet right under the TV. If you are trying to hide your accessories several feet away it may not work for you. The remote receiver eye has a 6ft chord and the lines going from the repeater box to the accessory are 6ft. So 5 to 10 feet is probably all you will get.
