These speakers are a bit big and heavy and area little overkill for surround speakers. However, if you are lucky enough to have an AV installer in your family (like me) they are totally worth getting. Just know Installation is pretty involved because drywall and floor joists are unforgiving when you start cutting holes and fishing speaker wire through it, but they do give you the appropriate template which makes installation a little simpler.
Since I already have floor speakers, these are just complementing what I already have. I set mine up in the front of the room two feet away form the wall. Then connected them as "B" channel speakers. After a few days of breaking them in, they sound great! By adding them to the ceiling they definitely added depth to the listening experience. I also tested them as a second audio source, just in case I didn't want to hear all my speakers at the same time and they do get pretty loud and still sounded great.
With that being said, I definitely recommend them.

The setup was pretty straight forward as I already have in the ceiling mounted speakers which are pretty similar in size. The pivoting of the tweeter and woofer is pretty amazing compared to the old speakers I had.
Sound reproduction and pickups is remarkable, it’s like hearing new sounds in movies you had thought you heard all there was in the soundtrack before using these speakers.
The price point is pretty steep for the two speakers and you should look for a Black Friday deal but otherwise these are clearly fantastic speakers.

This product is good. Sound is adequate and the pair can cover the entire room no problem. I bought this with Sonos amp. The software has change from user friendly to tedious that is why a four, and of course the price, but on sale it is worth it.

These speakers were replacing a pair of 8" middle ceiling speakers on a 7.2 surround sound system. They were easy to install with the hole template that were included. A word of caution to watch out where ceiling beams might be. Once the holes were cut the speakers fit perfectly and the secure push wire connectors are as easy to make the necessary connections. Once installed I tried a variety of digital music, TV and radio and all sounded phenomenal! Bass was rich, mid range was clear and highs were crisp. With the ability to adjust the angle of the speakers independently you can make tweaks to the direction of the sound in your room.

First off I am a hi fi enthusiast, I have very high end components in my sound room, my review may be a bit critical. Installation was very easy, just know where the joists are. For the sound, very weak considering they are list as high end speakers. My Defintive tech. DI8r ceiling speakers out perform these by miles, they are a bit pricier, the $899.00 reg. price for these then is an obvious deceptive sales tactic. The sound of these speakers are very bright, there is no crossover selection on the speakers themselves. There is virtually zero bass output, I had expected some base, not like a box speaker, but some. I am trying different install arrangements to get better sound, so far no luck. I am using these for music in a spare room wife would not allow me to have "real" speakers. I amuse to listening to extreme hi fi in a dedicated listening room. We have the Def tec. ceiling speakers in our kitchen and the sound very good for ceiling speakers.as far as a surround speaker I can not comment. I personally would look else where if you are looking for speaks to recreate music.

If a mid-range tin can sound is what you want, have at it. Horrible sound. Even with a Sub, the mids are lifeless and disconnected from harsh highs. Sounds like a car speaker from 1982.
6” B&W blew these away at a similar price point. For $1k you are being taken; for $299 these are still expensive for this sound.
The comparison at Best Buy was surprising. The VSP series 3-way is better because the lows coverup the lifeless mids, but still a tin-can compared to any of the B&W or DM or Martin Logan.
The only time these sound listenable is for documentaries with a deep-voice narrator. Think castles of England YouTube.
I suppose if all you listen to is rap, then maybe these would suffice, given how auto-tuned and compressed that is anyway. For any music with space and/or depth, you won’t hear it here.
I really wanted to like these. They are my not-too-expensive-for-the-ceiling option. Unfortunately, I find these painful to listen to. The music is so lifeless and flat, and disconnected from reality, I’d rather listen via Alexa - yes, they are that bad.

The quality of these speakers seemed fine but hooked them up before installing and they sounded very thin and tinny, almost no bass. For outside to listen to ballgames or such they would probably be just fine. But for music I just thought they missed the mark.
