The movie is very good for a video game movie, but as movies go in general, it’s pretty middle of the road. Great watch if you’re a Sonic fan

Whether you’re a Sonic fan or just looking for a movie to pass the time, def give this one a watch. Kept my interest overall, 4 stars. What’s it about? Young Sonic was raised by Longclaw until one day when showing off his powers, the bad guys discover him, resulting in Sonic fleeing to another world (Earth) via his rings and leaving an injured Longclaw behind. Now older and living in Green Hills, he follows a couple he calls Tom “The Donut Lord” (Marsden) and Maddie “The Pretzel Lady” (Sumpter), as he longs to be part of their family. Getting upset one evening realizing that isn’t going to happen, he triggers power outages along the Pacific Northwest resulting in the government requesting help from the crazy Doctor Robotnik (Carey). While fleeing from Dr. Robotnik, he is discovered by Tom who tranqs him with one of Maddie’s veterinarian darts. During this incident, Sonic’s bag of rings falls through a ring that is open to San Francisco. Tom agrees to help Sonic get his rings back while the duo plays a cat and mouse game with Dr. Robotnik. They tackle some of Sonic’s bucket list along the way and eventually meet up with Maddie and her family. There is a happy ending and an opening for another movie (and what movie wouldn’t be complete without a couple product placements?).

Its s good movie and its s good price, kids enjoy watching it

Though this isn’t a 1 to 1 adaptation of the first Sonic the Hedgehog video game, it is a fresh new take on the character. The film is humorous and light hearted with some great action. Ben Schwartz’s take on Sonic is really good and Jim Carrey as Dr. Eggman is wacky and hilarious. A really enjoyable film.

The world needed a hero, it got a hedgehog. Powered with incredible speed, Sonic embraces his new home on Earth, until he accidentally knocks out the power grid, sparking the attention of uncool evil genius Dr. Robotnik. Now, it's supervillain vs. supersonic in an all-out race across the globe to stop Robotnik from using Sonic's unique power to achieve world domination.

I've seen very few movies that after showing their original trailer to so much hate and backlash turn around and make many improvements. This movie did just that and while I wasn't part of the group that rejected it, I thought this movie was great. The likeness to the Sonic I remember from the TV series was good, and Jim Carrey's portrayal while above the top was great. I can really say that I'm excited to see where the sequel to this movie goes.

Much better than I was expecting. Video game adaptations have always dropped the ball based on their execution of the material they've been based on. Sonic's story is pretty out there but it works. Jim Carrey killed it as Robotnik and Small Town Sheriff James Marsden held his own as the lead. Even as a Nintendo fanboy I have zero reservation recommending this SEGA mascot to anyone who enjoys a good family friendly comedy.

Talk about a comeback! This movie is a great romp, and it's hard to believe it had such a controversial reveal, way back. This movie looks good, and sounds good, too! Hope you've got Atmos. I like Carrey as Robotnik and the humor throughout was really enjoyable. Right from the start, too. Looking forward to the upcoming sequel, too. (At the time of writing this).

I am not a video game practitioner and sharing that to start really enjoyed this movie. We first took our children to see it at the theater and felt it would be a good addition to our collection. The 4K Dolby Atmos is really really good in our theater. Watching it again the story is really entertaining fun and connecting to the betterment of society. Obviously it set up a sequel so lets see if they can match the original.

We streamed this first because we didn’t know what to expect but we laughed and enjoyed it so much the kids kept asking to watch it again and again! So we didn’t hesitated when it was available at BB for purchase! Jim Carey and James Marsden were great and Sonic was believable and much cuter than the original attempt of its first trailer. Carey as Robotnik is classic!!! stay until the end Sonic fans!

First of all, I’d give this movie a 7/10. It was much better than I was expecting, definitely worth a watch. It also makes me miss Jim Carrey and his weirdness. 5 stars for Best Buy though, quick delivery and I bought this during the Black Friday price. After watching this I would definitely pay to see a sequel.
