Underwhelming is the best way to sum these up. Ive tried Bose, Apple, Sony, etc... these are the worst ones I've ever listened to.
It’s really disappointing to hear that the Sonos Ace fell short of your expectations, especially when compared to other brands like Bose, Apple, and Sony. When a product doesn’t deliver the quality you’re accustomed to, it can be a huge letdown.
If you haven’t already, you might want to explore some adjustments in the settings to see if the sound quality can be improved. Sometimes, a few tweaks can make a noticeable difference. However, if you’re still not satisfied, I’d recommend reaching out to our customer support at support.sonos.com to discuss your experience. They might be able to offer some solutions to get you the best sound possible. I hope this helps!

I'm all in the Sonos ecosystem as well as the Apple ecosystem. So the Ace should, on paper, fit right in to my tech household and tech lifestyle. For the most part that's true, but there are caveats which I will get to later. The initial setup was smooth using Sonos updated iOS app. Putting the Ace on my head was also a pleasure - these are super comfortable. I don't own any of the high end competing brands with which to compare, but I've been happy with the feel of these even after hours of use over several days.
The most important thing to know going into a potential purchase of the Ace is that they are NOT tied into the Sonos *speaker* ecosystem. You can't transfer music or any other audio from your Sonos speakers to the Ace or vice versa. Maybe that will come later with a firmware update but Sonos hasn't said anything about that so I'm just speculating.
What you *do* get with the Ace is a tie into the Arc soundbar which typically is connected to your television. With the push of a button, you can transfer the audio (any audio) coming from the Arc to the Ace and back again. That is the magic of these headphones. In my normal daily use over the last few days, I'd say that the transfer wasn't quite seamless less than 10% of the time. So, yes, there are some bugs but I'm sure those will get ironed out over time.
While the Arc is the TV speaker for our 'media' room, we have two Beams and a Ray spread throughout the rest of the house - the Ace can't do the TV audio swap with those speakers...yet. Sonos says that is coming soon, so I'm really looking forward to that.
I'm not enough of an audiophile to be able to discern the quality of the ANC and transparency modes but, suffice it to say, I was happy with how they sounded. Nothing to complain about in that department.
I would say that if you're already invested in the Sonos ecosystem (including the must have Arc) and you're in the market for a good pair of ANC headphones, then this is a good buy, as long as you keep your fingers crossed that Sonos makes good on the Beam / Ray support, gets its app act together and, hopefully, brings support for some kind of tie in with the rest of your speakers in the future.
It sounds like you've had a positive experience with Sonos Ace, especially appreciating their comfort and the seamless integration with your Sonos Arc soundbar. The ability to easily switch audio between the Sonos Arc and Sonos Ace is clearly a standout feature for you. Thank you for sharing your detailed insights and experiences with Sonos Ace!

Sonos Ace Headphones... Simply outstanding!

The Sonos Ace Headphones for 2024 have stepped up the game and set the bar for the wireless headphone's genre. The Sonos Ace Headphones come in a small compact package that is reminiscent of Apple products with the iconic pull tab to open the box.
Opening the box, you are presented with a hard-shell case.
There is a fabric cover that is encasing the hard-shell case, Instructions pamphlet, USB- C to USB-C cable and USB-C to 3.5mm audio cable to hardware connect to your favorite device.
Remove the fabric cover and open the hard-shell case to access the Sonos Ace Headphones.
Next, open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad and download the latest Sonos App. Tap the instructions to connect your new Sonos Ace Headphones.
Keep in mind after connecting for the first time, you will be prompted to install the latest updates for the Sonos Ace Headphones, so just sit tight and let it do its thing.
Setup is a breeze and soon I was enjoying full feature audio bliss with rich sound with crisp highs and deep lows.
Once the Sonos App is set up, you will have access to the ANC Noise Cancelling, Aware Mode and Off Mode Audio modes. The ANC Cancelling is some of the best I have ever experienced. With the 8 microphones built-in, the noise cancelling must be experienced to believe.
I found the equalizer settings are sparse with only Treble, Bass and Loudness settings, however it gets the job done.
One of the coolest features that I have not seen on headphones before are the removable ear cups that are secured in place with magnets. Gently pry up on either ear cup and the ear cushions will pop off with ease. This allows for ease of cleaning of the ear cushions and replacing them once they are worn out from use. The ear cushions are even color coded for quick orientation of left from right. Talk about a Suttle, but extremely effective touch!
Now let's get down to the magic. Tap on the content button on the left ear cup to utilize the TV Audio Swap feature which will swap audio from your Sonos Arc Soundbar to your Sonos Ace Headphones. Your ears are instantly filled with rich Dolby Atmos 7.1 Surround Sound that will envelope you from all directions and make you feel like you are in the middle of the action. I loaded up Top Gun: Maverick on my Apple TV and instantly felt like the jets were in my living room. The Dolby Head Tracking feature is one of the coolest additions I have ever experienced. I turned my head to the left and right and the sound followed my head movements and kept me centered in the action. I absolutely love this feature! Kudos to the entire Sonos Engineering Team for such an accomplishment!
If you're into high-definition sound like I am, you're in for a treat!
For connectivity, I found that the iOS App was much easier to get connected to the Sonos Ace Headphones than the Google Play Store App. I loaded up the iOS App and the Sonos Ace Headphones were found instantly. I loaded up the Sonos App from the Google Play Store and found that it would just not connect to the Sonos Ace Headphones. I even tried using Bluetooth only on my Samsung S 20+ mobile phone and could not get the app to connect to the headphones. Rather disappointing to say the least.
I had hoped the Sonos Ace would work equally with both iOS and Android; however, this is not the case. Keep in mind, Sonos Ace Headphones were designed with iOS in mind.
Overall, I am extremely pleased with the audio quality of the Sonos Ace Headphones for 2024. From the exquisite build quality, audio clarity to the ease of use, you can count on the Sonos Ace Headphones to deliver up to 30 hours of audio enjoyment per charge

With more of us working from home, we find ourselves in a make-shift “Office” trying to communicate via Video Chat over a Laptop with a washing machine or kids nearby. This makes Noise Cancelling Headphones with Bluetooth connection like the Sonos 5024DG Ace model, a real growing consumer electronics segment. They can also help preserve our hearing when using noisy lawnmowers and other yard equipment. I ran my riding mower with the Ace and found that the noise cancelling was better than my older high-end noise cancelling headphones. However, to stand-out in this crowded segment, Sonos has given this headphone a feature I’ve never experienced before. After set-up (IF you own an iPhone), the simple press of a button instantly pairs this headphone with my Sonos Arc Home Theater Sound-bar attached to my friend’s TV. The Arc sound-bar is immediately silenced, cancelling the noises from the action movie for other family members. The Arc soundbar and the Ace headphones have sensors that compliment each other for advanced features like head tracking for more realistic Surround Sound immersion. I’ve seen other reviews that criticize the lack of audio “Punch” from the Sonos Ace. I listen mostly to podcasts with mostly speech. I find the emphasis on more clear neutral sound enhances my kind of listening as I cut the grass.
Features:
- 30 hours of Noise Cancelling use per charge.
- Weight 11 ounces
- Hands Free Phone Calls.
- Physical Volume and other controls on headset.
- Bluetooth 5.4 codecs mean extended battery life
PROS:
- Excellent Noise Cancelling performance (better than my big brand name units)
- Mechanical buttons, not touch type. (Easier to access and use by feel)
- Good Battery Life (30 hrs. of Noise Cancelling use claimed)
CONS:
- No AC Charger Included
- Ear-cups Interior Space is Relatively Small which cramps my ears after extended use.
- Apple-centric design means Android-phone users can’t access all Ace- Headphone to Arc-soundbar connection features
Conclusion:
The Sonos Ace noise cancelling headphones are overall a “good” set audio wise, but the features that make it a functioning parts of the large Sonos audio family make it unique.

They are finally here! Being along time Sonos house from the old playbar and play 5’s now in 2024 we have the ARC and ERA speakers but yes something has been missing from our premium audio friends at Sonos and it’s the over the ear headphones… SONOS ACE. Box came nicely packed from local carrier and if you’ve ever opened a Sonos product this one is no different with the premium packaging. Opening it is satisfying, not peel the plastic off the flat screen satisfying but I love opening these. Inside you get a case and your new headphones. First impressions are wow these look like other premium brands meant to lay flat. They have a beautiful SS head band wrapped in leather with leather ear covers that are just as comfortable as they look. This surprised me a bit because the ear pieces are very thin! Physically there are some volume bottoms on the speakers and the covers are magnetic and come off for cleaning. Now for the sound.. absolutely amazing sound from these things! I’m not an audiophile but I know a good sounding speaker. Now, the TV swap. If you already have a Sonos soundbar and we have the ARC, ERA 300s and a Sub. You can pair your ACE to the soundbar and swap with the two. For instance, you can be listing to your soundbar and on the APP you can hit swap and the sound will transfer to your headphones. What’s so cool about this is the ATMOS. The soundbar , ARC in our case, transmits an atoms signal to the headphones and it’s really trippy like the sound somehow still sounds like it’s coming from the TV. The tech they come out with WOW. I think the battery life is good as well I’m not constantly charging these they last a few days. Over all these are great sounding headphones , they integrate with my Sonos system , and they look cool. I would recommend to anyone with Sonos soundbar or without. Great product!

The Rumors of Sonos making a pair of headphones was so long I didn't know if I would think I'll ever see them but here we are in 2024 with a pair of headphones from Sonos. These are Bluetooth Active Noise cancellation headphones first and a swap to the home theater system second. For right now it supports Arc but more support will come later.
As far as the contents of the box you get
The headphones
A case
USB type C to Type c
USB type C to 3.5 mm plug
The type C cable is able to plug into your phone to listen to lossless music as well as charging the headphones.
As far as the headphones goes it has ANC which I would say is pretty good not as good as the top tier ones but pretty close to it. As far as sound goes these sound better than those headphones in my opinion. They have physical buttons unlike some ofhers which is my preference.
The slide for volume controls is also the button you use for play, pause, skip and etc but also to swap to your sound bar at home and it's quick to set up in the Sonos app. This puts a home theater sound around your ears so this way if you're trying to be quiet around you and head your movie of TV show. Quick and easy button to switch to your headphone or sound bar.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the Sonos Ace headphones! Your review offers a concise and informative overview, highlighting your long-awaited arrival. We are happy to have exceeded your expectations!

Hobestly suprised by reviews ive seen of people not liking the audio quality of these. I thibk they are fantastic and sound just as good as their main competitors. What sets these apart from the rest are how comfortable they are to wear rot longer periods of time and the tv swap from the arc. Absolutely love these.

Review for
Sonos Ace - Black
I’m a long-time Sonos fan, I confess. I have their Arc sound bar on my TV with the Sub Mini bass unit, a pair of Era 300 speakers, a Roam, and a Move. Even though that may sound like a lot, these speakers fit well throughout my house and provide great sound and flexibility using the Sonos app. Since Sonos has always been pretty music streaming service agnostic, it’s been a pleasure to be able to add or remove services as times change. I say all this because it’s given me a view into the Sonos ecosystem. I don’t think of myself as a “fanboy” — and there definitely are some pretty hard core Sonos types out there — but I do feel like I have a solid understanding of what makes their WiFi setup unique and special.
It was with this background that I looked forward to trying out their new Ace headphones. Right out of the box, you can see the attention to detail: the well-made components, the comfortable headband and ear cushions. The controls are carefully placed to make using them a pleasure. Having as many Sonos components as I listed, it was second nature for me to add the headphones to my system, which was quick and easy.
And that’s where I felt betrayed. I tried playing a song from my library within the Sonos app, but it played on my speaker system and I could find no way to switch it to the Ace headphones. I thought I was missing something and started to dig into the documentation more carefully. Using Sonos equipment had never been difficult. What was I missing?
Well…something pretty important! These headphones don’t really play nice in the Sonos playground. I’m not sure what the folks at Sonos were thinking, but they work only with the Arc soundbar (and soon, they say, with some of their other soundbars). Here’s the deal. With a quick touch, you can switch your TV sound from the soundbar to the headphones — but that’s all. Cool, but far from being another component in the WiFi system with all its capabilities, the Ace headphones are Bluetooth-only.
In fairness, they have great sound, the directionality is awesome, the sound canceling is excellent, and the “aware” setting makes surrounding sounds seem as if you’re not wearing headphones, but I was left with the feeling that these are the orphan step-children of the Sonos family.

These are great in just about every way except for the sound. I was really looking forward to them because I have so many Sonos products, and usually Sonos has a very “fun” sound production. Also, I have an Arc set up with my TV. However, as soon as I tried these on the sound was very bland, and the EQ doesn’t really do much to change it. The bass is muddy and the treble is so-so. I will be returning them, as I will never grab these over my earbuds if there is not a big sound advantage. I feel like the “tech” reviewers raving about these got it wrong, while the audio professional reviewers got it right this time around (Hi-Fi review, for example).
It's disappointing to hear that Sonos Ace didn't meet your expectations, especially considering your positive experiences with other Sonos products. Your feedback about the sound quality is valuable for as we strive to make our products the very best in sound. Thank you for the review!
