I replaced an older Samsung soundbar with the Sonos Beam after a lot of research. I could not be more pleased. Out of the box, set up was about 5 minutes, and it was instantly operational with hitting the on button on my remote. The quality of the voice/audio is exceptional. If you don't like it at factory settings you can adjust the treble and base etc. It is low profile and fully integrated with my Roku remote. My initial question prior to purchase was should I be purchasing the Arc or the independent base. After using it for several weeks I am fully satisfied with the Beams base quality and feel this is the best available in its price range and probably better than many that are more expensive.

Solid Soundbar For The Size

Although I was wary of the price and size of the soundbar in comparison to other models offered by Samsung that comes with a subwoofer, I decided to give it a try. Due to it's size I use it in my bedroom and it has been a great addition. Fortunately Sonos has provided some updates during my ownership of the Beam that included compatibility with Amazon Ultra HD/HD music files as it has really made a difference in the output quality. Installation was pretty easy - just install the Sonos app and simple instructions are given to you for ease of installation.

Great speaker, sounds amazing for its size. Just perfect for the room size I have in a small apartment. Sometimes doesn’t stay playing, TV speakers take over, easy to switch back though.

FINALLY, got to listen to one. When compared to our Playbar in our living room, the Playbar wins hands down. But it's the why the Playbar wins: the vaulted ceiling room has hard walls, hard flooring, and nearly 200 sq ft which opens to entry foyer, stairway, dine in kitchen and hallway (all hard floor and wall surfaces). The Playbar fills this type of space wonderfully and better with surrounds.
The BEAM however when moved into the 170 sq ft master bedroom FILLS the room to the point I'm considering NOT using surrounds. It sounds good with TV, movie, and music. The Playbar is too big for our bedroom and the Beam works with TVs with either HDMI ARC or Optical (aka TOSLink) via the included adapter. Setup was easy enough.

I was exploring soundbar options because I have an old version of Samsung TV that has horrible sound most of the times. At first I picked soundbar by Sony w subwoofer. What a failure that was. I went to BB store to explore options and test it out. Sonos seemed to be impressive but no way I could’ve spent over $450 for Beam2. I was impressed by Sonos that I went w this Beam and wow. Amazing. What a difference. I’m technical but not in IT business. Single mom and still was able to set it up on my own using USB/Optical cable. We have external box with all USB slots and optical cable input. This way we don’t have any cables hanging behind mounted TV. It was a quick setup and at first I was so skeptical not having remote. Honestly, now I am happy I don’t have one extra remote in the house!
- Your remote or Everything is controlled via phone app. Just download their app.
- you can set up even that way to control volume settings or more using your own TV remote control.
- my son and I depend on Apple TV mostly so I followed Sonos online instructions. First setup TV remote and then your Apple TV remote will work automatically. Wow, impressive!! One less remote to look for or loose. :)
https://support.sonos.com/s/article/3403?language=en_US
- next day, after setup, I was confused why my Sonos didn’t work but all connections were perfect and worked night prior. Thanks to amazing customer service quick chat even when they were closed for phone calls; you can auto send diagnostic test to them via code In the diagnostics setting. The simple solution was - that under TV option make sure to select TV! ;)
I’m so glad I got this. Black one sold out but I love white one for me. Pure. Powerful. It was $30 less. Sound is amazing and like in a theater. No annoying too low or too high pitch sounds like Sony.
- you can adjust to nightly setting which I love for our small condo at night watching
- it’s powerful and clear sound
- you can enhance voice
- you can connect your Apple Music etc.
I’m not using Siri, Alexa or Google voice yet because I’m not too into that. My skepticism is too high for privacy reasons but I did read their privacy agreement and should be ok. Still, Love that I can control all via phone, or vol via Apple TV or regular tv control.
Yet I am to explore much more and enjoy this little gadget. I want one more for a bedroom, eventually. I want to use for relaxing nightly music. Love that I can use it just got music too. Thank you!!

Fantastic addition to my Smart TV and Sonos home system. Increased the clarity and crispness of the TV sound quality and paired with the Sonos Sub for sound depth creates a nice sound field for our living room viewing area. You can crank up the sound volume on the beam without distortion but if you have a large room or your really looking to rattle the windows you may want to go with the larger sound Bar by Sonos.
Given the sound quality, ease of installation and seamless integration into my Sonos home system, I feel the price point is justified. If your truly an audiophile than you know you can certainly pay a lot more for amazing sound!

My wife bought me this and the Sonos One's as an anniversary gift as I had been wanting a sound system for the house but wanted a full house option. These Sonos One's and the Beam are a great option. We have two Sonos One's throughout our loft and back rooms and the Beam with our tv and we have great uniform sound throughout the house. The ability to wirelessly control all sound and what is played where is helpful as we often want to watch tv but have music when working in the office. I highly recommend this unit and the Sonos system. I am looking to add to it with outdoor speakers for the summer.
They have great sound and are easy to setup. The auto calibration system helps ensure the best setup for the furniture and room layout.

The sound bar isn't awful at all but could be better. This device is clearly centered around being the central focus for media control and additions like the Play One, Sub, and other connected Sonos devices. On its own I was impressed with the audio quality though I have heard better but not definitely have heard worse. The bass is present but not spectacular but the sounds do manage to sound full and real such as with voices and sound effects. Music sounded ok listening to rock, rap, chillhop, and instrumentals. At times the coins bar did feel a bit flat with the bass even after adjusting it in the Sonos app.
Using the Sonos app is also pretty intensive and labor demanding. Be prepared to spend 5-10 minutes just getting the speaker set up, updated, and usable. This is definitely not a plug and play device.

I recommend this and I am quite happy with it in my family room. My media room Sonos playbar blows it away but I still give this 5 stars for the price.
I loved the sound so much I eventually added a sub and two Sonos one v2 speakers to complete my family room surround sound.
I am very happy with this set up but Alexa voice control is not quite up to snuff (not all there and she seems a little hard of hearing).
Music and movies sound great on this speaker. I bought it because I bought a house that was already wired with Sonos speakers in 10 rooms so I have really enjoyed this beam addition in particular and Sonos in General.

Bought this soundbar for my living room. Aesthetically it fits perfectly with the furniture and is almost unnoticeable on my tv stand. Eventually I will add the other speakers to complete the surround sound affect. The sound quality is great however I have noticed that occasionally, the sound reverts back to the TV audio. I am uncertain if this is an issue in general or it could be my samsung tv. I essentially need to restart the sound bar by unplugging the power cable and connecting it back. Voice control is also excellent and works great with google home.

The Sonos Beam is a little pricey, but provides excellent sound for clear dialog from TV shows and movies; sound quality is also excellent for streaming music even without sub. Like that it can stream directly using voice control. Set-up was easy following instructions on the app and no glitches. The lack of a remote I consider a plus - I have enough remotes and it is easy to change the volume with either the app or TV remote. The WiFi connectivity makes up for the lack of Bluetooth - can stream from my phone or laptop with Airplay and directly from Pandora and other sources, so don't miss bluetooth connectivity at all.

Super short and sweet. I’m a huge critic on audio. Hands down the best sound bar. If you have a house get a sub. If not the sound bar delivers better bass right out of the box better than most sound bars with a powered external subwoofer. The clarity is 10/10 crisp audio. The best. Obviously the arc is better BUT if you’ve never had Sonos. The beam will be sure to accommodate the sound preference of any size room regardless of its compact size. I was not paid to write this review. However I’m about to leave my house to go buy the rest of the set up. That’s how good it is.

I was looking for something to replace the old "wired" surround system I have. I ran across a review of the Sonos beam in a Consumer Reports magazine as a "best buy" and decided to try it out. Set up was very easy using the Sonos app that I downloaded to my phone. I love the sound. It had been my plan to make due with just the soundbar, but I was so impressed with it that I sacrificed and added a pair on Sonos 1 SL's as rear speakers. The sound really fills the room, especially when playing music. Currently hoping for a killer Black Friday sale to complete the set with the Sonos sub. It's a little pricey, but worth it, if you have the bucks.

I already have several of the sonos products, including the sound bar, a couple of 1's, and a 5. So when it came time to get a sound bar for my game room I decided to give the Beam a shot.
The sonos ecosystem is really simple and user friendly, and most importantly it works. II can use the app to switch between music or listening to the TV. It can pair multiple products up so that you could play different or the same thing in multiple spaces.
The Beam itself booms. The quality of the sound coming from the Beam was beyond my expectation. I have it mounted underneath the TV and this thing sounds great. It is very clear, creates a sense of full surround, and is easily loud enough for my small room. I listen to a lot of music on it as well and regardless of genre the Beam carries well from the deep bass of hip-hop to the loud solos in rock.
Note: If you're wanting the best quality sound and/or have a larger space I would recommend stepping up to the Soundbar. It has a much richer sound, gets much louder, and has significantly more bass.

Installation: single HDMI via ARC...simple
Setup: A bit of a pain and I’m a tech guy. Setting up the speaker in the app wasn’t that bad but trying to figure out how to get my LG TV to transmit over ARC was a pain because the manual and google searches didn’t match the menus on the TV. It took opening multiple sub menus and looking through everything to find the right setting on the TV.
Sound: First off I don’t have an overly large living room. The speaker was placed on top of an entertainment center right below the hanging TV, it was a perfect fit. For movies the sound is actually nice and is completely better then the TV speakers. This replaced a complete large surround sound system (wife got tired of looking at the huge tower speakers and sub) and in no way compares to it. Understand what you are getting and set the right expectations. This is not a room filling surround sound speaker. It is very good at what it was designed for. As a single small speaker we are very pleased with the sound and even the bass, not room shaking at all but its noticeable. Surprisingly it does get loud and does not distort.
For music, I use AppleMusic via AirPlay, it works great. Very easy to use and sounds good. It has the same sound qualities as watching a movie/TV.
Should you get the Sub? For me...not at 499.99.
I don’t use the voice assistance so i can’t comment on it.
My only complaint is that when adjusting the volume my LG TV doesn’t display anything so i have no visual cue. In the beginning it was super annoying but now I’m used to it. I Googled this issue and there are a lot of threads on the subject and all point to the TV not being able to display the level and not the speaker. I guess ARC still needs some work.
Overall if you are looking for a good sounding speaker, not home theater, and don’t want to break the bank get this, you won’t regret it.
