I'm using the bridge with a my sonos set up - two play 5 speakers in my bedroom as a stereo pair... within a larger Sonos system that also includes a play bar for my TV paired with play3 speakers for surround and a sub.. Sonos is a wifi driven system that doesn't use compressed Bluetooth technology (that really is only intended for voice not quality music/!) These speakers are rich and very clear and very full range. They set up easily and can be relocated readily... just plug into power. They stream any music from my phone, ipad or computer via the wifi with unlimited library and internet music and also act as my surround sound seamlessly switching to surround and back to full power for music. Incredible! Flexible.... different rooms can play different content... control the volume and all from your phone! The bridge creates a segregated wifi just for the sonos and effectively prevents other traffic from interfering. simple set up. BestBuy was a great place to get these - they had excellent product knowledge and support.

I did some research and decided to find and purchase this product which has been discontinued but was still available. I am using this to create a separate expanded wireless network for my Sonos Play 1's. This way I can use my home network for all my other devices. This was easy peezy to set up and works perfectly to drive my Sonos Play 1's. It even reaches my outside deck.

I had been planning to get a Sonos system for about half a year and decided to pull the trigger when I saw the Christmas offer of buying either a Play:3 or Play:5 and getting the Bridge for free. I can't say enough good things about this system! I recommend it to everyone I talk to and a day doesn't go by that my family doesn't listen to music.
Focusing on the Bridge in particular the unit was extremely simple to setup, is small so it was easy to hide, and has been rock solid (no downtime!). This is a required piece of equipment if you want to get one of the wireless speakers (Play:5 or Play:3) so don't confuse the title of the product as a range extender.
If you're on the fence about getting a Sonos system do yourself a favor and buy it. You won't regret it.

I was looking for a simple and less complicated sound system to set up. The Sonos system had me thinking really hard. I eventually took the the plunge with my first Sonos. I was skeptical at the beginning about a speaker system this expensive will perform relying on wifi for connection. I bought the play bar and the sub and the same time to maximize the experience. So far it worked! The bridge served as its own hub so it won't be sharing with the rest of your gadget. The set up was a breeze, simple and no rocket science needed and with no wires to mess. Just power and ethernet wire and you're good to go. I highly recommend Sonos.

Quick and easy setup. I purchased the bridge and a Play5 to start my whole house stereo -- I started with the Play 5 in my garage gym and the setup was very easy. As I expand the system (next purchase will be the sound bar) I imagine creating new zones will be quite easy as well.

I did some research and decided to purchase this item to create a separate Sonos network in my house for listening to music on my Sonos play 1 speaker. It was very easy to setup. I already had a cat5e cable run in place that was directly run to my router. I plugged in the cat5e and power cord to the bridge, plugged in my Sonos play 1 in another room and followed the setup instructions on the Sonos app on my cell. Easy Peazy! It worked perfectly and now I can add additional speakers without running anymore Ethernet cables.

I debated between getting a Bridge and the Boost (I believe) that was 2x as much, but this Bridge slid right into my SONOS system and unleashed music all over my house! Can't wait to add more Play:1's through out my home!

Cheapest Sonos product that does basically one thing - connects the Sonos mesh network to the home LAN & broadband.
Not strictly necessary if you want to put a speaker where you happen to have an Ethernet port; about to be unnecessary altogether since Sonos engineers have come up with a way to go completely wireless.
My general approach is that wire beats wireless, especially in my house - there are 2-3 dozen wifi networks overlapping in my home office thanks to the neighbors. That said, other than the Bridge, all my Sonos gear is wireless even if I have cables nearby - it works that well.

Excellent bridge for connecting Sonos speakers

When I bought my Sonos Play:5, this was a required accessory to connect your speaker to your network. You plug the bridge into a wireless router, plug in your speaker, push a button and BAM, you're connected! Connection is strong and have had no issues with connectivity (drops, etc).
Recently however, Sonos has made some changes (at least in Beta form) to their software to allow you to connect your Sonos Play speaker to your network without the bridge. I haven't tried this myself, so I can't speak on this. So before you by this, check for other reviews.

I connected the bridge directly to my modem which wirelessly connected with the Playbar that I also purchased. This was the easiest electronic components that I've ever set up. Everything worked as advertised and the sound from the Playbar is great. I will add the Play:1 speakers shortly to complete surround sound experience. I'm very impresses with Sonos!

You need to have a Sonos bridge to set up your sonos wireless speakers. It was really easy to connect to our router and I love that it creates it's own little Sonos wireless network and doesn't take away from our wireless for our computers and tvs. It was easy to set up, and I LOVE our Play1s. They sound fantastic!

I love my Sonos system. Bought Play 5 and 2 Play 1's. Lightning took out our surround system that was built into the house and I didn't want to spend to replace that. Great sound through all speakers, very easy to setup, app runs from both my and my wife's iPhone, iPads, or macbook. Had a friend come over and they downloaded the app to their iPhone, ended up listening to their music also. Favorite part, app gets us every single radio station in the country. Couldn't be happier with this product. Possibly thinking about adding the play bar and controller in the near future. I love that you can just piece the system together as the components can add up quick when buying all at once. Get started with a Play 5, then add 1's along the way. I didn't feel the need for the Play 3 as the Play 1 puts out good enough sound on it's own. Definitely need the Play 5 for better bass and louder for outside.

Sonos is a great "wireless" speaker system

My review title has "wireless" in quotes because each component must be plugged into an AC outlet. If you look at most (if not all) of the Sonos advertising, it might make you think these units are completely untethered - but they are not. But that's okay, because these things could not last on battery power, so the AC cord is a not-so-evil necessity. As for the speakers connecting to your music sources and to each other - yes, they are fully wireless in that sense.
The Sonos Bridge is in a way the heart of the Sonos system. I received mine free as part of a Sonos promotional period where you would get one (for free) if you bought one of the speakers. So, that was awesome because I saved $50. So if you are still exploring systems, take some time because maybe another promotion will come out. I've seen three different Sonos and/or Best Buy Sonos-related promotions so far, and taken advantage of two of them: one was the free Bridge with speaker purchase; the other was 5x Best Buy rewards points (!) with any in-store purchase (I bought the Sonos Connect at $349 under this promotion and got a whopping 1,745 BB Rewards Points - HOLLA!). I am building my system piece-by-piece to maximize the BB reward points I can apply to the last component purchase.
But back to the Bridge. The Bridge itself is not exciting, but it is the piece from which you build your system (there is no point in buying the bridge alone - you will need one of the speakers to hear anything). However, the Bridge has a small footprint, which is nice because it is best placed as a neighbor to your cable-modem and wireless router setup. It is not an eye-sore (if you put it someplace where it must be seen), and it is pretty simple in terms of setup and wire connections. The only problem I had initially was that its internal wireless system (it creates its own wireless network to connect to other Sonos components) conflicted with my home wireless network. This caused the Sonos speaker to cut out after a few minutes. Fortunately, my wife found within the Sonos online product manuals that you can change the channel setting for the Sonos wireless network. Once we changed to a different channel, the conflict was gone and it has worked flawlessly every since.
The Sonos speakers sound great (given their size - but far superior to the poor sound quality you get from a tablet, laptop or smartphone), look great, can be put almost anywhere within reach of an AC outlet, and are easily controlled from a smartphone, tablet, laptop/computer, or can be muted or volume-adjusted at the speaker itself (also great if you don't have your controller "in-hand" and need to change volume or mute it). So go out and get your Bridge and start building your Sonos system!

I am running my SONOS system with a SONOS Bridge. The Bridge sits near my home router and is connected to the router by a short Ethernet cable. Everything works fine and was easy to set up. In theory you can run without the Bridge if you have a wireless router (which I do), but you may be subject to more vagaries of wireless coverage and competition from other wireless devices. I decided that at the price, it was good insurance. Lack of certainty that I need it is the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5; I have no complaints about it.

I would first like to comment on the bad. This product is normally priced at $50. This is significantly overpriced for merely a repeater. However, the steep price can be dodged; every so often, Sonos will have a deal where you can buy a Sonos Play3, Play5, Playbar, and/or Sub and will be given this product for free! Now for the view. This is a small platform repeater that is simple to use and an elegant piece of hardware. Simply a press of the synch button and the proper button combination for your Sonos Product, and it is forever paired with your wireless mesh network. Couldn't be happier with this set of products!

i have been looking for a wireless home audio solution for a while and it was a toss up between the Sonos and the Jawbone solution for a while. I was convinced to invest my income tax return on a pair of Sonos speakers and a bridge and haven't looked back since. these are awesome and worth the cash. sound quality is great, the flexibility of having my Computer, tablet, or phone as the controller is wonderful, and having different music spread out through the house is really great as well. My small apartment, I have music playing all the time, and i have music wherever i float around in my place. The Sound Quality is great, and the fact the Sonos One is humidity resistant made ti a perfect fit for the bathroom counter while i get ready in the morning.
