The Sonos Era 300 is raising the bar for what is possible from a speaker. Standalone or paired, it surpasses expectations and is really a sound to be reckoned with. This company really gives off the impression that they are customer-driven as they provide the whole package, quite literally. I will be the first to admit, I am a sucker for good packaging, I feel that companies that take the time to add this attention to detail really care about the customers. The Sonos has, by far, the best unboxing experience I have experienced yet. Getting the speaker out was just so fun and exciting because of their innovative box design. It added an awe factor I was not expecting. As for the set-up, they are not kidding when they state it is “bewilderingly easy.” Plug it in, download the app, and it is good to go. If you have an iPhone, you can find the speaker automatically when playing music through Airplay. One aspect that befuddled me was the orientation of the speaker. I thought I had it set according to the diagram, but the volume kept lowering when I was playing music and I could not figure out why. Come to find I placed it on its side and the speaker was aware of this. It will tell you on the app as well if you have it incorrectly placed, so heed the warning if you do the same. The app allows you to do many things, for example access the EQ, stream Dolby Atmos compatible music, link another speaker or subwoofer, and calibrate the sound using Trueplay. Trueplay uses the microphone on the speaker and a smartphone to detect how the sound bounces off the walls and furniture to calibrate the best sound for the space it is placed in. The sound on this speaker is incredible. The base is deep and rich while maintaining the integrity of the sound as a whole. I could feel the bass vibrating on my living room wall that is on the opposite side of the speaker without it being obnoxiously loud, which was both perplexing and amazing. The drivers really do add spatial dimension to the sound, giving the spectacular experience of being surrounded by the sound. I have a variety of music genres that interest me and they were each played beautifully by this speaker. Guitar tracks really pop, I can hear the chords and strings separate from the other sounds. Piano tracks, EDM, rock, reggaeton, Spanish rock, pop, rap, hip-hop, etc., it all just stands out with such vividness. This speaker really lets me listen to sounds that I rarely hear in songs due to inadequate speakers and headphones. It is mesmerizing. A nice addition to the speaker is that I can Airplay music while still streaming and listening to something separately on my device. Also, it has a speaker for use with a voice assistant. Sonos has its own voice control program, as well as compatibility with Alexa. The volume is a long strip on the speaker that uses touch to sense your finger dragging the volume up or down. It has a Bluetooth button and a voice control on/off lever. It has a few other buttons that are touch-sensitive, and these are for play/pause, forward, back, and voice assistant. A few things to note: This Sonos only has USB-C as a form of physical connection; therefore it cannot connect to the tv or other device via optical cable, HDMI, audio, or RCIA. It is also necessary to have the Sonos app to stream music, at least on Apple devices, even when using Bluetooth. This is not an issue for the tv though, which I connected via Bluetooth. Overall, this speaker provides a mind-blowing sound experience that has yet to be topped in my books. I would recommend this to any audiophile who wants to get the most out of their music using a standalone speaker.

This is one hefty speaker for the size. Filled with a bunch of speakers and amps. Setting it up is pretty simple once you have the app installed. You could just go straight to using the USB-C aux or Bluetooth, but the real advantages come in once the Sonos Era 300 is set up on WiFi and you get other options in the application. This speaker will fill any room with crisp, clear and loud music. Just by default it sounds amazing. Though the setting is buried several layers in the menus of the app on Android, you can control bass/treble and enable the Trueplay Tuning which plays a series of tones to help optimize the sound for the space you have the speaker. Though subtle, pending the environment, it can help give a better surround effect. Though I didn’t find any music to test out the Dolby Atmos, I could tell it was definitely taking advantage of the multiple drivers. With it streaming straight from WiFi, you don’t get the interruptions you may normally get with using Bluetooth on your phone. However, you can still control all of the music with your phone, with the touch sensitive controls or voice. The Sonos voice is simple and straight to the point. If you want more control like a smart home device, then you can enable Alexa and control more. Even though the music is streamed straight on the speaker, it still wants to keep the application running on your phone, which I found kind of odd as the speaker still allows control. Overall I find this speaker to be a lot more than just your typical smart speaker. Unless you listen to specific songs on Apple or Amazon Unlimited, there are only a few that make direct use of Dolby Atmos. But, the multiple speakers and surround effect of all music is what fills the space more than I have ever heard from a single speaker.

The Sonos Era 300 is different from other bluetooth speakers I have owned. It arrived beautifully packaged in a nice box and then wrapped in a protective cloth. I had a bit of trouble connecting my Era 300 at first - but was finally able to get it connected after doing a factory reset and trying again. You have to have a mobile device or tablet connected to a wifi network to be able to connect your speaker and they have to be on the same network. Once you are connected and you label what room you will place your speaker - it will read the room to get the acoustics to automatically set the correct sound for the room. The speaker itself is about 10 inches wide and just over 6 inches tall and weighs just under 10 pounds. You can connect your services like Apple Music, Pandora, or Spotify to play from your device or use the Sonos Radio that comes with it. The best part of this is that you do not get interrupted by calls or notifications. You can press a button and stream directly form any Bluetooth device. It also has the option to connect a computer or other accessories by using an aux cable and the Sonos line in adapter. You can connect multiple speakers to complete the sound in your home. You can use "Hey Sonos" voice control or use Alexa to as well. You can toggle the voice assistant on/off by pressing the speech bubble on top of the speaker. If you choose not to use voice controls - you can turn it off completely by switching a button off on the back of the speaker. This is a moden looking speaker with a robust app. It's a nice addition to my home and definitly recommend.

The Era 300 is the smallest standalone Sonos speaker to have an upward firing speaker, enabling Atmos and “Spatial” audio content. On its own, the Era 300 provides fantastic stereo audio and impressive spatial audio from a single speaker. While I roughly knew the dimensions before it arrived, the 10.25” W x 6.5” H x 7.25” D hour glass didn’t quite blend in as hoped. After finding an acoustically engineered location determined by my wife who was not impressed with the size, I put the chonky fella in our dining room. After updating the Sonos app, I was able to easily set up and tune the speaker. It is nice that the Era can tune itself, which I thought provided a nice tune that was more convenient than the traditional TruePlay. Still, I opted to perform Trueplay so that I could wander around the room like a drunk wizard. I played various Apple Music spatial and stereo mixes to see how well it sounded compared to a smaller speaker like my HomePod and quickly realized they aren’t in the same category which is not that surprising considering the Era 300 is physically larger. Immediately I was impressed by the sound stage, which I found to be wide and balanced. I found the audio to be very clear and well defined even at lower volumes. If you were so inclined to push the drivers beyond a whisper you will find they are more than capable of filling the room with expansive, distortion free audio. The bass is rich and punchy but not over shadowing the mid-range. Though I found the audio mix usually to be good, it is great that Sonos provides an EQ to tune it to your liking. They even provide an adjustment for the height channel, which I initially found a little soft even for my dungeon like 8ft ceilings. While listening to spatial tracks, you find familiar songs produced to take advantage of the format for better or worse. Listening to Pink Floyd’s Us and Them, the Era 300 enveloped the space with rich details that brought out the individual instruments bringing the feeling of being in a larger room with the band. Fleetwod Mac’s iconic Landslide sounded incredible, layering acoustic and electric guitars with the Nick’s soulful voice carrying throughout. Of course my 3-year old daughter found the speaker faithfully reproduced the soundtrack to Encanto just as she remembered it yesterday. If you happened a second Era 300, you can stereo pair them or add them to an existing Arc setup for the complete 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos experience. Overall I am left impressed with what you get even considering the size, which it would take a stereo pair of any other brand smart speakers to compete. If you are looking for a single speaker setup or have the space for two, the quality and performance of the Era 300 is hard to beat.

I received the Sonos Era 300 black, It seems to be well built, sturdy, its physical appearance is a little unusual, like an hour glass look. It has a set of touch controls on the top panel, a USB-C port for line-in and ethernet ( optional adapters required), a Bluetooth toggle and a switch to physically disconnect the microphone on the back. Setting up the Era 300 is pretty simple, you’ll need to download the Sonos app to your phone and set up an account, from there, the app will look and see if there are any speakers to add. You’ll also need to log in to your audio services of choice. If you want to try spatial audio, you’ll need either Apple Music or Amazon Music Unlimited. You can search for and play music through the Sonos app, but there are also a bunch of options if you’d rather stick with the music apps you’re used to. It also has a feature called Trueplay, that tunes your speaker’s output based upon where it’s placed in your room, you can use this feature in the Sonos App. The Era 300 is a great speaker, It’s crisp, loud, and has lively bass. It's a loud, powerful speaker with deep bass. You can use it for multi-room audio with other Sonos speakers, and they can also be used as surround sound speakers with a Sonos soundbar. If you like using voice controls, you can also add a voice assistant to the Era 300, Setting up the Sonos assistant is a little easier than Alexa, because you don’t need to go linking your Amazon account. Overall, it is a good premium speaker that does a great job filling a room with sound!

I’ve been impressed by the quality of sound from this stand-alone streaming speaker. Excels at spatial audio but also sounds great reproducing “stereo” tracks. This has better clarity of voices and frequencies through the entire range than some other Sonos speakers (Move, One, Beam, e.g.). Everything sounds more accurately reproduced and less muddy or digitally sculpted than some Sonos products (see above). The bass response is impressive and fairly tight and clean. I tried pairing this with both the Sonos Sub Mini and Sonos Sub (Gen 3) — at separate times! — and neither sub added to the sonic experience. In fact, the Era 300 sounds much better by itself (including bass response), and I think this is because everything in its audio engineering and design is directed toward that use. I find it has plenty of oomph to fill a fairly large room well. I have it on the fireplace mantle in the corner of our 20’x20’ great room, and this speaker fills all of that just fine without straining. Oh, and I also like the distinctive and functional design/form of this speaker! Of course it’s got the great Sonos 2 app and Sonos interconnected audiosphere going for it. I recommend the Era 300.

This is the first Sonos product I've owned. I've resisted them, partly because I was under the impression that they work best when you have a whole fleet of them all over your house, but also because... well, it's not like there's no shortage of competition in this space. What could possibly be so special about a speaker that you can stream music to? So, now here I am ready to declare that the Era 300 is the best sound related anything in my entire house. I am in love. I love the odd shape of it. Love how it looks on my shelf. I love the app and how well everything works. And I love the sound. I really love the sound. This is not, however, my first forray into spatial audio. I've got a pretty great Dolby Atmos home theater setup with a dedicated sub and surrounds. I've listened to spatial audio music on that system a lot and it sounds good. But - I'm telling you - there's something better here with how Sonos has approached this speaker. For starters, I've never been to a concert and had a musician play music behind me. That's just not how live music works. So this notion of being in the center of an orchestra or something that you see in a lot of marketing related to spatial audio is kind of missing the point. I don't want to listen to music that way; it doesn't sound natural. And oh man does this speaker get that right. The best way I can describe it is that when listening to a really good example of a well-mixed spatial audio track it sounds as if music is coming from the entire wall. There is a height effect, yes, but it's not gonna sound like it's buzzing over your head or any of that nonsense. Instead, it takes the tune and gives the impression that there are musicians across a wide stage and maybe some of them are on risers. It's so wide I kind of can't believe it. Listen to those Beatles remasters. I've never heard those songs sound like they do on this speaker. And I don't mean that in an artificial way. It sounds different, but it sounds right. It sounds alive. I was blown away. You know what else is impressive? The box this comes in. Never ever seen a product come in a box that has a locking mechanism built into it. Really smart and makes it incredibly easy to open. The whole package reeks of premium thought and care. Ditto the app. I always, always dread the software side of electronics like this. Even if it works okay, most of them look like they were designed in 2006. (See: Sony's headphones connect app.) Well, not the Sonos app. I think it looks great and I had zero issues connecting every app I tried. Dolby Atmos is working both with Apple Music and Amazon Music Unlimited. SiriusXM works and sounds great in the app and has actually been more reliable than their own app, so far. TuneIn is there. Several others. Sonos even has their own streaming channels and playlists and they're not bad! You can search across all your connected apps and it's just all very easy to navigate. Don't want to use the Sonos app? No problem. AirPlay support has been flawless. Can even adjust the volume of the speaker with my iPhone's volume buttons. Anything I don't like? Yes. I have tried and hoped that I could use Sonos's own voice assistant reliably. I don't really love interacting with Alexa for a number of reasons, so I was happy to see an alternative. Unfortunately, it's just not too great at the moment. Asking it to play a specific album failed almost every time. Asking it to play something on Amazon music one time started playing something from Apple music. It's fine if you just want to tell it to play an artist or a genre, or need to raise/lower the volume and pause things. Other than that, it's not a competitive option. Second, it seems the line-in is proprietary only. I tried using my own USB-C to 3.5mm to connect my turntable, but could not get it to be recognized by the speaker. According to Sonos's website you have to use one of their adapters. That's too bad and for this price they should have at least included one in the box. That aside this thing is a keeper. I'm so much more excited about Dolby Atmos music than I was when it first launched. Everything sounds great, but this is where this speaker really shines.

The Sonos Era 300 is a remarkable speaker with very crisp and clear sound. When I first tried setting up the Sonos Era 300 Bluetooth speaker using the Android app I could not get it to work on my Galaxy S10 plus. I still do not know why because luckily I have another Android phone thatworked just fine and I went through the set up which was very intuitive. I am not sure why it has to be so complex but with a little bit of technical saviness and the ability to interpret the English language made it easy. Once I got it connected to WIFI and then connected to my Android phone I added YouTube music and went to a playlist I had made and immediately upon listening to part of the first song I was so excited I just had to get my wife to come listen with me. We sat together and listened to that whole playlist of songs and were very impressed. The Sonos Era 300 nade listening to music so enjoyable we could not resist and that was not even with High Defintion music or Dolby atmos. I can not wait to get into that. Now the problem is I immediately started thinking of building a surround sound system with Sonos speakers. I am thinking the newest subwoofer the Sonos Sub Gen 3 along with the Sonos Arc Soundbar, one more Era 300 speaker and two Era 100 speakers on the stands for rear surround. Okay enough daydreaming for now. I am very impressed with the Sonos Era 300 and the ability in the app to add all kinds of Android media apps to it. There is Apple Music, Sonos Radio, Tidal, Spotify, SoundCloud and then apps like IHeart Radio, TuneIn Radio and even Podcast apps like Pocket Cast and lets not forget about SiriusXM. I cloud go on and on but I have yet to discover evry compatible app because I was so anxious to listen to this engineering marvel. I really think a full surround system would be amazing. I did not even get near full volume on the Era 300 I only got up to 69 on the volume and it was plenty loud and sounded amazing. I am a first time Sonos user and I have to say I have never owned a in home Bluetooth speaker that immediately had me thinking about expanding me Speaker arsenal of more of that brand. The Sonos Era 300 is that impressive and while it does have pretty good low end it is not the same as a dedicated subwoofer. I have some other surround system even one with a dedicated Receiver Ampllifier and I am still drawn to the Sonos because of the Soundstage and the Dolby Atmos that I know will come with a complete Sonos surround system. While the Sonos speakers require a power outlet to plug them in they connect to each other wirelessly which is a very attractive feature. The amazing thing is they are both transmitters of there own WIFI signal and receivers of WIFI and Bluetooth signals. That means One Sonos speaker can put out the Sonos wireless signal to another speaker even if your router or home WIFI can not reach that speaker your closest Sono speaker in a room to room whole home array can. Sonos has very well thought out and well executed software and all the features needed to make them work in a wide field of application scenarios based on your needs. I should mention though that you will need a TV with Arc output for Dolby Atmos or you can buy an adapter from Sonos to get your non Arc TV to work with Dolby Atmos. Sonos pretty much has everything covered as far as I can see. While a Sonos system can get pricy if you get there high end or newest products there are many systems that cost more. Personally, I believe a Sonos surround system or even a whole house system including a surround in your media room or living room would satisfy even hardcore audiophiles like myself. Yes I like it loud with deep bass and a full sound stage from the lowest frequencies up to the highest ones. Thiis can be acheived with a premium Sonos system so do not hesitate to start building yours today!

Bought two of these for stereo seperation. Simply amazing speakers with enough bass that a sub is not needed. Dolby Atmos comtent sound great and setup was super easy with no issues. They're pricey but your paying for the good sound and ability to move them litterly anywhere in your home with no connection issues. Like an Apple product IT JUST WORKS!

The speakers are amazing!! I have owned the Sonos Arc and subwoofer for quite some time now. I have been dying to add to my home theater system to achieve the complete Dolby Atmos experience. After researching for weeks on line, I decided to go with the Era 300s. Although they were on the pricey end, I purchased the speakers on line and went to my local Best Buy to pick them up. When I arrived at the store, I decided to go to the back so that I could see or hear the speaker in person. I was so excited when I noticed a in store sticker advertising that the speaker was less than what I had paid online. I immediately went to the customer service desk and was told that it was an old sticker and that I had to pay the full price!!! Having worked in customer service before, I know that if the store makes a mistake with price tickets, typically the store honors the price and then removes the ticket for all future customers. However, in this case that did not happen. I was told by management that they couldn’t do anything!!! She was quite rude and did not try to offer any type of discount. I took the speakers anyway, because I purchased them on my Best Buy card and was financing them over 24 months. I thought if I called customer service, they would possibly credit me the $100 difference. WRONG!!! I spoke to someone in India who put me on hold 5 times just to tell me no. Best Buy in Dothan really needs to work on their customer service!! I have purchased multiple high ticket items in this store in the past and have never had any issues. This store always looks like a ghost town. If they continue to treat loyal customers this way, it probably won’t be long until they’re out of business.

Got a pair of these in the holidays, paired them with an Arc and 2 Gen 3 subs, boy oh boy they make a bang! Pros: Excellent sound quality: The Era 300s deliver clear, crisp audio with rich bass and impressive soundstage. They're particularly well-suited for Dolby Atmos content, providing a truly immersive listening experience. User-friendly Sonos ecosystem: The Era 300s seamlessly integrate with the Sonos ecosystem, making it easy to control them using the Sonos app, voice assistants, or your TV remote. Wireless and versatile: The Era 300s are completely wireless, so you don't have to worry about messy cables. They can also be used as standalone speakers or paired with other Sonos speakers for a surround sound system. Stylish design: The Era 300s have a sleek and modern design that looks good in any home. Cons: Expensive: The Era 300s are quite expensive, especially when compared to other wireless speakers on the market. Limited bass: While the bass is generally good, some users find it lacking, especially if you're used to a subwoofer. Originally got one of these as it fit the bill for what I was looking for in a smart speaker, and it blew me away. Dolby Atmos aside, it’s seriously impressive how well this speaker throws out sound to the sides, and honestly has a more defined L + R than a lot of soundbars that put the physical drivers much farther apart than on the Era 300. It also has a lot more bass output than you would expect for its size, especially given that its just 2 small woofers and 4 tweeters. I now have 2 in a stereo pair, and Atmos tracks on them are just mesmerizing, and even without any Sub I can get very impressive output in and below the 40HZ range. I really can’t belive these can be used as rears in a soundbar system, given that a single Era 300 blows a lot of soundbars themselves out of the water let alone the cheap rears most soundbars give you. I’m now looking at adding an Arc and 2 Gen 3 Subs, and hope that Sonos will add support to use an additional 300 pair without doing the crazy grouping method to make it happen. If you’re considering it, do it.

I am very excited to install these speakers as part of my Sonos surround sound system to upgrade to true Dolby Atmos! These speakers are very well-designed, solidly built, and provide expansive sound! It was very easy to integrate these speakers using the Sonos App into my existing system, and it made a world of difference in the soundfield. I am going back and listening to movies again just to hear them in Atmos.
