Amazing TV!

I recently upgraded from a 32'' 720p TV that I've had for 5 years. This Sony obviously outmatches it by a long run.
The colors are deep and vibrant. The refresh rate is amazing (especially for video games). And Android TV is nice as well!
I don't have hardly any complaints other than that the sound wasn't synced up with the tv, so when someones mouth moved on the screen, the sound wasn't matching up with the movement of their lips. I read online and it said to turn the TV off, unplug it, wait 30 seconds and turn it back on. Fixed it like a charm!
Also, the update took about an hour, which is annoying but obviously necessary.
I LOVE this TV, and would recommend it to anyone out there.

I bought this TV to replace an old Sony Trinitron that was still operational but obsolete in terms of being compatible with HD and all that comes with modern cable and technology. The box fit nicely into my Accord trunk area and was easy to carry into the house and up onto the TV stand (5 ft 2 in 110 lb female). I have not used the 3 D feature yet (not a gamer, per se) but the navigation features going from TV to Amazon Prime are super easy and the remote is clearly marked for this purpose. The picture is very clear and the sound is not bad even without an added sound bar. I am happy with this purchase!

Excellent TV, but smart component is lacking

The TV has great picture quality and it's easy to navigate.
Pros:
* Great picture quality
* The matte screen doesn't have a ton of glare
* Having some of the online services, like YouTube, can be nice. I don't have subscriptions to any streaming services.
* Four HDMI ports is very convenient
* The picture settings are decent.
* The TV looks great; the bezel is small and the display itself is very thin.
* The internal speakers are decent. Hold off on buying a sound bar until you try out the internal speakers.
Cons:
* Sometimes the TV needs to be unplugged because it freezes during its power-on process. I've only had that happen twice so far and it's likely just a fluke with Android TV.
* The suggested apps section cannot be removed, and apps are automatically organized based on last time used.
* The Android settings are fairly lacking.
* Sometimes the source banner gets stuck on the screen. Changing source and going back seems to fix it.
* The remote control phone app is pretty lacking. I don't suggest using it.
* The control buttons are on the back of the TV and the positions of them are difficult to get used to.
* The search defaults to voice, but the TV does not have a built-in microphone. It's just a little annoying to have to press an extra button on the remote each time I want to search.
Other thoughts:
* A Chromecast is not necessary with this TV because it supports Chromecast internally. Don't expect to be able to use Apple AirPlay with it though.
* If you don't care for the smart component, just don't use it. The TV will start up to the source it was on when you shut it off.
* The TV source key on the remote is reprogrammable to go to a different video source.
* Keep in mind that this is a Smart TV running Android. It is programmed by humans and it is not perfect. It may crash and reboot at any time.

I was very disappointed when I got my TV home to watch 3D because I found out I had to order special 3D glasses at $50 a piece because my regular sony 3D dont work neither did my panasonic 3D glasses. Its like everytime you buy a new 3D TV a person ends up having to buy more special 3D glasses for that TV. If I would have known this I wouldnt have bought this TV now I have to wait until January 26th to receive them by mail. The Best Buy gentleman told me my 3D glasses I had for Sony would work. Very disappointed customer.

Excellent Sony Flat Screen TV

I always buy a lot of Sony electronics, they never let me down. I replaced a Sony 40" flat screen with this 50". This new TV has many new features the 40" did not have. The color and clarity are excellent. It was easy to setup and operate. It works well hand in hand with my Sony Bravia Blu-ray 3D Entertainment Center. To conclude it was well worth the cost.

My First HDTV cost me >$2500 more than 10 yrs ago; the TV that followed (~5yrs later) that was half the price and with significant improvement in image quality. This TV is also at that half price point being at <$700.
the bump in size, image quality and features is certainly >10x better than that first TV I purchased 10 yrs ago. This is my last TV purchase on the 1080p level, but the experience that it brings for watching all my current content that is still on 1080p level its unparalleled.
Watching my bluray movies look a lot better and the experience with the few 3d movies that we had collected has left us wondering why we didn't get a 3d capable tv before. the TV is located in an open game room at the house where there is not control for lighting since it's open to downstairs family room. Even without having a dark room the image can be enjoyed, the 3d feature can be used without having to be on a completely dark room. all the android TV features are a plus by themselves and are a good selling point if you have an all android home like mine. I get all my Google play content handy for streaming some of the movies and videos I already have in my library. I was able to watch my digital copy of Guardian of the Galaxy through a WiFi connection with no lag and perfect image quality.
The controls to adjust picture presets for viewing sports, movies or standard TV are very easy and I'm not 100% sure but it seems like the TV can adjust can adjust to some of them automatically.
I'm using an old Sony sound-bar I already owned so i can't tell much about the TV speaker since I haven't used them at all. The one thing I haven't figured out yet but I have almost given up on, is getting the HDMI ARC feature to work between the sound bar and the TV, but the sound bar model I have is several years old and it may not have standard version of ARC so I can't ding the TV for that but Sony should do more compatibility testing between their devices.

I love my new Sony Bravia 50" LED 3D HDTV. Although the trend is for much larger TVs (60" or more), for anyone who would like a slightly smaller television that is thin, easy to set-up and easy to use with a great picture and also is two-thirds the price of those larger TVs, this Sony TV is a great choice. It also has fantastic built-in SMART TV features. I am very happy with this TV.

Deal of the Century.

I may have scored the Deal of the Century. On Thanksgiving 2015 I bought a Sharp 50" LED TV 1080 p 60 Hz HDTV that was on sale for $299.99 at the Best Buy here in Naples, FL. Last Nov. it was on sale at this same Best Buy for $479.99(marked down from $599.99). A few days after Thanksgiving, I hired someone to help me move a humongous Sony Trinitron TV into my bedroom & hook up the Sharp. When we turned it on there was what appeared to be some sort of design on the screen instead of Set-Up instructions. Turns out the screen was damaged so we packed it up & brought it back. I was annoyed as heck as I knew they wouldn't have any more of those left & who knows how long it would take to get a new one. I really didn't want to move the old Sony back to the LR.
The girl in Returns checked &, sure enough, they didn't have any left. She told us to speak to the manager. We found him & he had an "Open Box" SONY BRAVIA W800C 50" 1080p Android LED Smart TV, a much better & much more expensive TV & told me that if I was interested in it, he would make an exact exchange. My reply was "wrap it up.".
They never even asked if I dropped the Sharp, etc. Plus they had someone carry it out to the car for me. When I tried to give him a tip, he said Best Buy doesn't allow tipping. Needless to say, between the courteous service & the extremely generous upgrade, I'll forever be a Best Buy customer.
The picture & sound are superb. I haven't set up the internet function yet & I probably won't, but I'm sure that will work fine also.

So far I've been very pleased with this purchase.. No regrets so far. The color and clarity rival that of my plasma! Everything looks great.
Tons of pre installed apps, intuitive interface. Plus android os! The initial setup took some time (a I long time) to perform software updates, but afterwards the TV interface is blazing fast.
After a little work I was able to sideload apps not currently in the play store further expanding the available features.
I was expecting the flick remote to be included but later found out that it is an optional accessory. Also the instructions for assembling the base could be a little more detailed.
I have not tested the 3d, so I have no comments on the quality.
Overall we are very happy with the purchase.

This Sony lives up to the brands reputation. beautiful ,sleek, easy to set up and a joy to watch. Only problem is Sony doesn't include the hardware to hang the set on the wall, using it's stand, with your purchase. You must purchase the additional hardware from Sony and customer support doesn't have a clue what you're talking about and the parts company has to do research before they can figure out what you need, and it is currently on back order, so who knows when I'll be able to put my set where I want it.

After reading reviews on this Sony HDTV on RTINGS website I was a little reluctant. It received a decent review, however they claimed the TV wasn't bright. I have to disagree with them, as this TV is very bright, the color is beautiful, and the picture crystal clear! I'm not sure what TV they were looking at when they made that claim, but as of now an owner of this particular TV KLD-50W800C, I have to say this TV is absolutely BRILLIANT, and the 3D SPECTACULAR!!! It has quite a few extra features like picture in picture, and let's you stream from any online streaming service. Amazon, Netflix, Hulu etc.. I've owned this for about a month now and have had zero problems with this set. I love the sleek design, the low profile trim, make this a beautiful unit even when turned off. I can't imagine anyone being dissatisfied purchasing this particular set. I would highly recommend to anyone looking.

The newest Sony 50 inch TV, the KDL50W800C, is much the same as last year's model except for having an Android interface for selecting streaming TV. The remote is a little different as well. As the case with the previous model, which we bought last year, the picture is amazingly good and there was no need for any adjustment. It worked perfectly out of the box. The price is much better than that for the 55 inch model, so this is a good deal for those who need nothing larger than 50 inches of screen. As the case with all modern thin TVs, the sound is better through external speakers and a receiver or a soundbar, either Sony's excellent soundbars or others. The setup is easy, and mostly automatic once connected to the TV cable. The only thing to assemble is connecting the stand to the TV, which takes a few minutes. There are plenty of HDMI and other connections for virtually all uses. You will not be disappointed with this TV

We love this TV. The picture is perfect. Easy to set up. Love the add on features such as 3d and voice control. It can only use one improvement, the sound system. The speaker is in the back and you need to really turn this up to for quality sound. I can't imagine how it would sound if we had mounted. I am looking into a small surround system for it now. But other than that, love it!

I bought this TV to play my XBox One and I couldn't be happier! The image is crisp and the refresh rate is amazing! I've used it with Destiny, Halo 5, and Black Ops 3. Destiny is the only game that did not perform well, but I believe that's a separate issue with the game, not the TV.
It says that it has built-in Chrome Cast, but I haven't been able to figure it out and the manual is pretty useless on that aspect. I already owned one, so I'm not too concerned with it. I also haven't used the ability to play PS3 games on it, so I can't comment on that.
The TV was quick and easy to set up. Just attach the base, connect it to the WiFi/Ethernet and update the TV's software. Worked perfectly.
There is a little light bleed, but only noticeable when it's completely black, which I'm not concerned with. Overall, WONDERFUL TV!

Between last year and this summer, I kept looking for good deals for the KDL-50W800B, but eventually it just disappeared from shelves everywhere and was replaced by the KDL-50W800C.
The W800C adds built-in Android TV, while removing the 2-pairs of 3D glasses that were included with its predecessor.
It does have its quirks, and sound is still not as impressive as my 32" KDL-32S3000 back from 2007, because the new, slim TV's all have down-firing speakers now. However, I have no complaints in terms of picture.
In general, I prefer Sony colors way more than the Samsung's, and this one is no exception. I also like the MotionFlow default settings appear very natural and don't give me a jarring soap-opera effect.
Although I already had a TiVo, Apple TV and XBox 360 to watch Netflix, having it built into the TV and having controls to play/pause or launch Netflix right from the remote is a nice to have.
In the < 700 range, this TV is a steal. I paid a Benjamin more when it was launched.

Good TV in terms of picture quality for the price. Remote control and menus are a little hard to use.
Initial setup is a little confusing. Main complaint is difficulty exiting welcome screen and menus until set up complete. Easy to use smart features on regular basis.
