I did not like this unit in the store. It was not picking up any radio stations, and the functions had some lag time. I saw it open box for $130.99 and decided to give it a try where it would live. I really wanted AM and FM radio and easy access to a single cd player. Very few mini-systems or shelf-systems are being made with AM radio these days. I get VERY bad radio reception in the front room of my house. While this is not perfect, it pulls in the most AM and FM stations of any radio I tried, which includes a borrowed $1,000 Onkyo receiver. Again, my reception is situational, so this would probably work spectacularly well for anyone else! What I do like about the radio tuning is that it has the option to receive FM stations in either stereo or mono (which helps clean up weak FM stations). Additionally, the CD player works well, Bluetooth is quick to connect, and there is a USB input on the front of the unit. I love the retro, brushed steel look with the large volume knob, but it is actually plastic. This in no way means it is low quality. The speaker cabinets are wood. The remote control is a little chunky, but it fits in your hand well and is well laid out. I also use the sleep timer and wake to radio feature. It is a little annoying to program the wake feature (and that is the first thing to erase after a power outage), but it a nice feature to have. The remote has great range and seems to work around corners in my house. I do not like that the speaker and antenna connections are proprietary. If you want to extend your speaker wires, you will have to splice them. Additionally, if you want a replacement antenna or to get a different one, you will have to go through Sony. The unit does have more lag than others in turning on, turning off, initializing a cd, and switching between inputs. I can live with these things. I mostly listen to sports and talk radio, and the stereo is great. For music, the sound is pretty good and has some adjustments for bass and treble and an additional Bass Boost. If you are an audiophile, though, I would look to a much higher end stereo. For basic FM, using Bluetooth, and the occasional cd, I think this is great. It also has NFC, but I don't have any devices to pair with that. The stereo is a total of 50W, but that is more than adequate for my small room. I don't think I would have paid $199 for this, but it offers more features and better performance than other more expensive stereos. It is an absolute steal if you can get it for less than $150.

I had an unusual need for this particular product: my 98 year old mother is mostly blind and partially deaf. A radio is her only form of entertainment. The sound quality and clarity are amazing. The graphic equalizer allows her to adjust tone levels to the middle range she needs for speaking voices and for music. She uses bluetooth headphones to block ambient room noises. The equalizer and the headphones are the perfect combination for her special hearing needs. The remote buttons are easy for her to find and use. We all enjoy this sound system when we visit her. I plan on buying one for myself in the near future.

My dad old stereo broke so he needed a new one. Looking for an easy to use, nice looking and good quality stereo this one shined. First of all have you seen the design on most new shelf stereo systems? With all those changing lights and mega speakers, it looks like college party, which is not bad but not right for a grown up living room. This unit is great for small living rooms. Has all the features you may need, CD, Bluetooth with NFC, USB for playing music and charging tablet or phone and Aux input that can be used to connect a turn table or other devices. Overal for the price and design is one of the shelf stereo systems in a box you can get.

    Nice Stereo For Small Area

Nice Blue Tooth Stereo ( Bluetooth is complicated to set at first). Compact . When I read about it on line, I was under the assumption that the speakers were wireless. I ordered it on line and picked it up at the store. I asked if the speakers were wireless and they confirmed that they were. When I got it home and realized that they weren't, that was my first disappointment. But when I turned in on, and cranked it up, I was pleased with the sound, and happy with the remote. I decided to keep the system. For the money, its a good set up.

    Great Sound Stereo!! Slim Design!!

I looked at many reviews on several different stereos. After coming across this one it seemed to have a good review and we were looking to switch from a bulking boxy stereo to something a little more slimmer and sleek looking. I love how this looks and the sound is great along with the bass. I like bass but not so much you cant hear the song. This stereo seems to have a great balance of bass. The only thing I wish it had was that you could attach more speakers to it. The slot is preset to have only the two speakers that come with it to plug in. I wanted to plug four speakers into it and it was not capable of doing that properly anyway. My husband end up jerry rigging it so that we could have four speakers hooked up to it. With the extra 2 speakers you can only put the volume up to about 20 till it will shut it off because it wasn't made to do that but it plenty loud even at that volume. With all 4 speakers I usually keep it around 12-14 and that's about what I normally keep it at so overall I am impressed with it.

    Great Sound - Poor Design

This is a very nice looking product that provides a great sound. It is easy to set up. However, it is not easy to use. There are two problems: (1) the buttons on the front panel are teeny, tiny things that are difficult to press because they are so small. There is plenty of room for larger buttons. (2) the instructions to operate basic functions are confusing. For example, trying to tune to FM stations requires lots of guesses as to what the instructions are trying to convey. The system comes with a remote that makes it slightly easier to operate the system than pushing the teeny buttons, but the difficulty in moving from function to function is inexcusable. What were the designers thinking? Make it simple and clear.

I bought this for the bedroom. It appeared to be a nice compact setup, and the bluetooth capability seemed like a great idea. Once setup I was happy with the appearance and the compact size. Sony included everything I needed to get it up and running, including speaker wires, antenna, remote, and batteries. The small speakers sound great. FM reception is good too. I like that I can play music from my IPhone with Bluetooth. Although it claims to be able to, I cannot make it control either of my Ipods through the USB connection. I can play them through the auxiliary input with my 1/8" adapter cable, but I can't control them with the remote. Overall, it is a nice little setup for a bedroom or office. I think the price is a little high, but it was the only product that looked it would do what I wanted.

I realize there are systems out there that sound better, but most are more than twice the price. I needed a sound system, but didn't have a lot of shelf space to put it on. I thought about buying a boombox, but wanted richer sound than that. Overall, I am pleased with the performance of this system and the features it offers. The only thing I am disappointed in, is the radio reception. I could pull in only two stations compared to dozens of stations on my larger, older system in a different room of my house. Thankfully, my main reason for purchasing was to play music from CDs, flash drives, and smart phones.

I love this stereo. I bought it because I have a lot of CDs I wanted to be able to play, and I wanted better sound quality than just a basic cd player would provide. I got exactly what I wanted. My only complaint is that the antenna is not the best, and I had to make another purchase to have clear AM/FM.

This stereo is easy to setup, comes with a remote, and has some good sound. The remote is simple and straight forward, but you can also use your smartphone as a remote as well. Local radio stations were crisp and clear and listening to CD's was a pleasure. I would recommend this for anyone looking for a nice sounding stereo in a small room.

If your an audiophile, this is not the system for you. This system is for people who want music in a room that is about 20x20 or less. The sound quality is very good FOR THE PRICE. We live in an area where radio reception is very poor. This system allows us to use the bluetooth on our phones and other devices to listen to our favorite app. It took me about 30 seconds to pair my wife's phone with the stereo. Yes, it's that easy. Now she can listen to her favorite station (It's on Iheart). Whatever app you use to listen to your music or sports on your phone will come through crystal clear on this system. Again, if you want perfect sound or booming bass, this is not the system for you. For the rest of use this is a perfect system for the price.

Great unit for a smaller area. I am using it in my garage and it fills the space with a quality sound. The Bluetooth feature works great with my iPod, iPhone and iPad. The usb feature is a little slow in loading but works great once it loads your files. The only negative is the CD player doesn't play upon loading a cd, you have to wait for it to read the disc and then push play. Not a big issue but I am use to sticking a cd in and just walking away.

I bought this system after time consuming search for bluetooth speakers. The reason why I decided to buy this system is that there is no need for portable speaker system for me and I don't have cd player any more after upgrading my laptop to retina mac book pro. I am okay with overall performance, but there are two concerns. 1. The initial reading time of cd player is somewhat slow. It is not unbearable, but quite noticeable. 2. The tuner is not great compare to my Tivoli radio. This system can not tuned into many radio station even if I fully extend the antenna cable. However, it still works fine as my bluetooth speaker, and cd player.

Sony CMT-SBT100 stereo system has good sound from a compact sound system. It fits nicely on a table and the speakers have enough wire to get a nice separation for stereo recordings. I use it to play classical music most often, but I also play some blues, jazz and rock. For the latter, there is a bass boost button to get stronger low tones, but it won't shake the windows or hit you in the chest. It also has separate bass and treble controls to increase or reduce by +/-4. The tuner works well with the included antenna, and pulls in all the local stations. The cd player also works fine, and the headphone jack allows you to take your listening private. I haven't yet tried the Bluetooth or USB port functions. I am quite pleased with my purchase and my 12 year old grandson was impressed by sound.

Purchased this compact system to provide music from CD's and radio in crafts room. Purchased based on reputation of the Sony brand name. Appears to be well made and it was well packaged. However the set-up/operating instructions leave a bit to be desired. Read carefully and you'll get it set-up after awhile. Sound from small speakers is crisp and clear. Connecting the AM and FM antennas was a must. (This was not necessary on the system it replaced.) Only a couple of stations came in clearly without antennas.

The SONY CMT-SBT100 is a 2.0 bookshelf system, with great audio quality, enough power for a bedroom, small office or small / medium room. It has elegant and discreet appearance, and the Bluetooth connection is very easy to setup, as all of its functions. For the price, it is an excellent choice. Very satisfyied with mine. The Bluetooth connection works readly with Iphone 5 and iPad, Samsung Galaxys, as also with Dell Inspiron notebook.
