I purchased this along with my Sony alpha Nex 6. It's great. Zooms perfectly almost kind of scary to say its for a compact camera.

Real great lens. Superb quality. I've been real careful with it so I'm not sure of the durability but no damage so far. It was a tad bit pricey, but the quality lives up to it.

At family events I enjoy sitting in the background and seeing and selecting shot of individuals just enjoying the occasion and being themselves.

I am pleased with this lens, which came in a bundle with the a6000. It's surprisingly sharp and there's barely any distortion. Fun to use, I like it for portraits.

I have not owned this item long enough nor I have I had the opportunity to use this lens enough to provide in-depth feedback. Here is what I do know: I got a great deal on it at Best Buy. The price beat Amazon by almost $150.00 Although it is listed as automatic, my camera will not fully zoom in or out with the lens. Final focusing on either end must be done manually. I will not say much about pictures, because I have not taken enough yet and I would not want to mislead anyone. The few I have taken on full zoom are great. Finally, if you buy a product, please share your feedback. Most of us value and depend on what our peers say.

I have not gotten a chance to play with this a lot yet, but I am excited about the zoom options it will give me as the zoom on the NEX-6 itself does not zoom very far.

Bought this just before my trip and took some amazing shots of the far off scenery. Simple to use but I do miss my point and shoot camera.

Great lens. Fast auto focus and gives me the range to get the distant shot. Used on a a6000 camera. Recommend for your kit to take you beyond wide angle.

A must have for serious photographers that own the Sony Alpha series cameras. Detail is crystal clear and the image stabilization results in stunning photos!

Got this as part of the holiday two lens bundle with the Sony a5000. This lens is head and shoulders above the standard 16-50 lens which typically comes with the camera. Obvious at 55 this starts out at a "zoomed" level but personally I feel the image comes out much more sharp with this lens than with the 16-50, even if it means backing up a little bit to get a similar picture. I'm a camera newb though so take it for what its worth. For entry level though I strongly recommend having something beyond the base 16-50 which is basically the lens you get with a point and shoot.

Lens works great! Easy to attach to my Sony A6000 and it has a detachable hood. Clear crisp photos are easy with the Camera and this lens. I had fun playing with it on a recent trip and got some amazing photos with crisp detail in the front and the beautiful blur in the background. Plus some zoomed distance photos of eagles flying far away. I am relatively new to the DSLR cameras so I have to do some experimenting, but I am loving it so far.

Wanted this lens to be able to zoom in on grandkids if they're on a sports field some distance away---love to get closeups when they don't know I'm taking them

Received this lens with the Sony A6300. I was pleasantly surprised ay how sharp it is. You do need good light, even in shaded woods you'll need the fill flash if you are using it for any close ups of critters. I keep the focal length under 200, about 135, f5.6-8 and have gotten wonderful photos of dragonflies , flowers, almost macro lens quality. At 200mm it won't be as sharp. For the price and size of this lens, it's a very good buy.
Hi. walkabout, you put a smile on a lot of faces around here with your kind words about our product. That's the kind of experience we wanted to hear. Thank you for choosing Sony. Dave

It's a slow lens with some less than flattering reviews. Yes it is a slow 4.6 -6.3 variable F stop, so you would think that it is a poor performer. It's not. The optical stabilization compensates for some of the slowness at low shutter speeds, and the overall bokeh is pleasing; no where near as harsh as the critics suggest. Toss in the low price point ($149) and this lens is a clear winner at value, sharpness, and build quality. For the price, it cannot be beat.

Really good lens. Though if you’re looking to get a shot of a far range portrait, it is good since you can go up to about almost 240mm which is so far and the resolution doesn’t break.
The camera i paired it with is a ZV-E10. Great combination as well. But you might wanna have a close range or wide range lens as alternative.
Hi TharyH, Sony's commitment to customer satisfaction is our top priority. We are happy to hear that you love our SEL55210 lens and its versatile focal length. We are also happy to hear that its performance meets your standard when paired with ZV-E10. These are the feedback that we really want to hear from our customers. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and experience. And thank you very much for choosing Sony. - Pakorn (Sony Social Support)

I have the A6000 and I generally like it but it is not a good camera for bird photography because it's complicated to activate the internal zoom: you have to go into the menu and/or assign a button on the camera to use the internal zoom. This is way too time-consuming for bird photography and a huge design mistake.
The a5000 has that zoom lever and is much better to use, albeit a less developed camera than the a6000.
Overall, Sony doesn't have much to offer for bird photography but I hope they will come up with better lenses and cameras for that purpose.
