We researched this TV before scooping it up (no stand, remote, instructions, box...etc) for a ridiculously low price. having only had Samsungs for the last 12 years (2 plasmas, 1 LCD, and 1 LED), we were amazed when we got this set up and calibrated. On default settings, it outperformed the 46" Samsung it was replacing...DEFAULT SETTINGS. After some tweaking, based on Interwebz suggestions, it's simply fantastic.

Excellent TV VS. the other brands

I've this TV for a month now and I'm not disappointed. I do not consider myself a video expert by any means, but I am somewhat knowledgeable. I spent many hours before I visited the showroom doing research online since it has been 8 years since my last large TV purchase. Before going into the store I narrowed down my choices to a top 5 that I wanted to look at. The brands were Sharp, Samsung, and Sony. My budget was no more than $1700. At the store the Sharp TV's looked average at best. The Samsungs looked good, but the Sony TVs blew them away. I even had the sales guy take a flash drive demo to certain TVs that I was considering so I could compare using the same video loop. In the end I narrowed it down to two Sonys. A 60 inch R series and the 55 inch W series. The W did have the better picture but I was torn because I came in looking for a 60+ incher. In the end picture quality won and I haven't regretted it at all.The only problem I encountered during setup is connecting the TV to my home theater system. I typically run everything through my receiver, but this didn't allow for any sound using the streaming apps(netflix) so I just had to rearrange some wires. No biggie. The sound from the TV itself was average, but I don't really care about that since I have a home theater setup. My only wish with the remote was that it was back lit. I do own a Logitech Harmony remote, but on some features it's just quicker to use the factory remote. I went to numerous websites to get some custom calibration settings for the picture quality, but to be honest, after trying 3-4 of them, I liked the factory settings better after I made some very minor tweaks myself. This helped with what many people call the "soap opera effect" Google it! I do have the network set up wireless. It was easy. Movies stream great. The screen mirroring feature has turned out tho be a cool little feature. I have a couple movies in mkv format that are not compatible with my Chromecast that I use, and this feature allows me to watch them. At times there is some lag, but it's not really a big deal. In terms of the 3D, I don't have a 3d blu ray player, just a regular blu ray. I don't see myself upgrading to one either based on my viewing habits, but there were a couple apps on the TV to let you view short 3d clips and they were awesome. I do like the passive 3d better. In the end, I love my TV!!!! Also........make sure you utilize Best Buy's price match policy. I saved an extra $200 a couple days after my purchase just by checking the websites that they do price match.

Sony 55in LED 3D TV, w/ wireless Internet

This Sony Smart 55in LED 3D TV by far is the very best on the market, The Picture will blow you away, The picture is clear with excellent color’s and the 3D capability really does bring that added dimension to action movies, It comes with 4 pairs of glass, the same glass that you get at the movie theater, The speakers on the TV are better than most and I do not see a need to add a sound bar. The built in wireless internet is great, you can stream Netflix / Amazon or Hulu plus, connect to Face book, YouTube and Pandora, You can also do Skype calling by added a Sony Skype camera to the TV. The Bezel on this TV is very Thin, There are plenty of input connects on the Sony TV , Miracast is an app you can download for your smart phone or tablet and use it to control your TV on your home network. This is by far the best TV out there until the New 4k TV's come down in price.

    Sony LCD TV

This Sony LCD TV is the most remarkable TV I have ever owned. The contrast radio makes everything look real and when you watch something in 3D it almost makes you move, because it is so realistic. It connected up to my internet portal and it has already completed a couple of downloads. I would recommend this TV to anyone looking for a great 55" LCD 3D TV. It great to finally have a TV that will have enough HDMI ports on the back. I had to use a splitter with my old TV, which was a Sony too. We upgraded this TV for our bedroom and it is fantastic. I can't say enough good things about it. The remote is also very easy to use and the best part is that now it and my SONY Blu-Ray DVD can work off the same remote. The features that this TV has to offer for the general set up was so easy to understand. It was all picture driven and easy to comprehend. Buy it and enjoy it!!!

We weren't expecting to purchase a new TV but purchased this one while shopping for a sound bar for our living room. Through the advice of the Magnolia salesman, we chose this Sony due to Sony's commitment to picture quality rather than internet TV functions. Let me tell you, the picture quality will not disappoint! We are extremely happy with this TV. Setup was a breeze. TV is light and was easy to mount on the wall. The TV has internet functions, but due to the location we don't have an internet location and weren't going to connect it anyway (that is what our HTPC and Blu-Ray player is used for). The only thing lacking on this TV is the sound, however we almost immediately connected the TV to our SONOS system for better sound than any TV could ever produce.

    Good replacement TV

This was a replacement for a 3.5 year old samsung 55" led we had purchased thru BB. The samsung had one row of LED's that had burned out, and good thing we purchased the "Geek Squad" warranty. Orginally BB was going to replace the screne, but the we got a call and informed us that the picture was no longer available. Told us to go to BB with a reference number, and see customer service, and pick out another TV. Well, we started looking at the TV's they said would be a "direct" replacement for what we had, and they were about 1/2 the price we paid. So I picked the Sony, Probably the most expensive. Then CS told me that i would be receiving a refund of the purchase price difference. I was like "what WOW" i didn't expect that, I just thought the difference in price would be lost. But anyway, I love this TV, great skin tones, the picture does not plexi out like the old samsung one did during say a fast jet fly over in movies. The 3D is very cool, we have purchased 3 3D's so far, and they are amazing. The glasses required for watching 3D are light and simple, NO batteries. ALMOST like the dark sun glasses you see some "older generation" people wear that fit over their regular glasses.

The picture quality at the store was not bad. However, once it was mounted on the wall and turned on an instant "WOW" resulted. As with most televisions there is a glare based on the angle of the interior lighting. The full motion mount helps. It takes some time to adjust to the rainbow light reflection (from the 3D). Thus a setup in a media room or room with the lights off works better. The sound is not bad but once matched up with a sound bar things changed to a whole different level. I used an optical cable to connect with a sound bar. Although all the inputs were not used at the time of purchase it would be good to have additional ones for use later. After the satellite was hooked up, the image had a "WOW" quality. Very good rendering of colors and yet a good deal of pop to it. The picture was much better than at the in store. The 3D viewing of sports is a treat. The 3D glasses supplied wear as normal sunglasses so they fit well. Much better than the movie version. All in all I am happy with the purchase.

Setup was very easy for the TV. The picture quality for both 2d & 3D is excellent. This is my second Bravia purchase within 2 years and I love them both. There is a cost premium for this TV, but it is worth it.

Excellent picture after calibrating, using suggested settings I found on CNET. Ports are a bit awkward for wall mounting; I had to connect all cables before attaching to wall using VESA mount. If I want to add other connections, e.g., Ethernet or more HDMI, etc., I would have to take the TV down from the wall. The Sony logo and LED block on the bottom seems out of place and even a bit ugly on an otherwise sleek bezel.

Read tons if reviews on tvs in the 55-60 range and found that this has the lowest input rating of any tv for gaming. Blue ray is awesome, gaming is awesome, simulated 3D is solid (2D to 3D). Only knock I have on this set is can't get plex from app service on tv so you will need another way to get it via roku or something similar. It's also a bit pricey but I have had sony products before (laptops and tvs) and they have always been very reliable.

This set has the best picture and colors. It was surprisingly easy to set up and program. We were enjoying the great movies the same day. The 3D was good and had some 3D effect even on HD movies. Sony has served us well for many years now with our last set and it is good to see it is still outstanding

I bought this product to replace my Samsung 55" tv which died after five years I was very disappointed that happen so I decided to look at sony, I love technology and love to have the best products after looking at everything on the market I decided this would be the tv of choice in it's price range with the right calibration it shows just as good as much higher price tv's. I left the apartment I lived in and also the tv with my roommate, I had a chance to upgrade but again I bought the same tv and very happy I did the 3D is also great on this tv's it's worth the money.

The picture quality is superb! We compared to just about all the TV's on display and with the exception of the new ultra hd sets you will be hard pressed to find a better picture. Oh yes, it is also a 3d tv, which I never thought I would buy, but the 3d is also very impressive! We purchased the tv for it's regular picture and didn't even know it was a 3d set until we researched it.

Used Geek Squad to Install and Config with all my new Components for Surround Sound Home Theatre and Home Audio. Picture Quality is very good, works well with my Marantz Receiver for Home Theatre Surround Sound. Will also, work without the Marantz on which is nice for quick watching. Configuring the Internet (Wireless or Wired) worked well and only took a few minutes to get working. Secure Connection with Wireless.

We have tried other name brands and always come back to Sony Bravia. This is the first one I've purchased with the 3D option. Having the Internet in our televisions is wonderful. We purchase all our electronics at Best Buy because of their knowledgeable staff and great customer service. The sound of these speakers is great on its own. But we plan on purchasing a sound bar with woofer to compliment the sound when watching or listening music. You can't go wrong with this set. We are very pleased!

With the purchase of this Sony 55" television, I dropped cable and went to satellite. Picture is incredible. This television is loaded with features, some of which I haven't even explored because the picture is so good. I bought a Sony sound bar and a Sony 3D DVD player to go along with the television. The TV and sound bar have ample HDMI connections.

My wife and I recently purchased this TV and so far we love it. We were able to easily get it setup, connected to the internet, etc in minutes as the UI was very intuitive. The SmartTV functions are very nice and a big difference over a TV without them. The 3D capabilities are very impressive and worth it. I'd highly recommend this to TV to someone.

Set up was easy. In less than 30 minutes my family was watching a 3-D Movie. I loved that Sony gave us a one year trial period for Netflix. I am hooked. This flat screen is the best. I have a 50" LG and a 52" Samsung and neither one of them comes close to the clarity you get with the Sony.

I have always enjoyed Sony TVs and I'm a very loyal Sony customer. I bought two of these TVs because I knew once I started watching this TV in my living room, I would never be satisfied with the TV I had in my bedroom. The picture quality and features are outstanding, but as with all big screen TVs the sound system must be enhanced to match the audio experience with the visual one. The only disappointing thing about this HD TV is I'm discovering many of my favorite actors and actresses don't have the perfect complexions standard definition TV convinced me they had. :)
