    Sony A9G review (65 inch)

I absolutely love movies!! Ever since I saw Jaws at 6 years old. I even went to film school. So when I watch movies in theaters I want to watch them on the best screen (IMAX). The same goes for watching movies at home! Which is why I decided to go with the Sony A9G. I spent a lot of time on my deployment researching the LG C9 and Sony A9G and I had a chance to view demos on both in store. The A9G won me over. Then I set it up at home and MY GOD is this the best picture I've ever seen on a tv! I also purchased a 7.2 Klipsch surround sound system with the Yamaha A2080 receiver and I've been glued to my couch! Watching 4k is so glorious on this thing and the sound system elevates it on so many levels. I'm surprised the neighbors haven't complained yet. Whether watching the lush and pristine colors pop on Strangers Things (especially season 3) or having my mind blown by the full screen IMAX chase sequence from The Dark Knight. The blacks and shadow detail are wonderful and this tv handles fast motion scenes like a true champ. This tv is amazing I'm very happy with this purchase!

I had been reluctant to pay the extra money to get me into OLED. I have been very happy with Sony products for many years. I decided to upgrade my then current, 3 year old Sony 4K, when I saw a friend's Z9F Master Series Sony he had just purchased. I purchased a 75 in Z9F. I really loved that model but it was way too big for my space. I returned it and in the process I went ahead and purchased this OLED. I have no regrets. It is what I should have gotten in the first place. Once you get this nothing else compares. The picture is amazing and the built-in speakers are not bad at all. It is easy to navigate.

I'm not sure why I waited to bring home the Sony OLED 4K 65" TV. It has made watching *everything* such a pleasure... but in particular programming in 4K. Wow, what a difference... in fact it's made poor-old 1080p HD television look like VHS in comparison. So, here's the bottom line. If you're thinking about purchasing this television for your home, just do it. You won't regret it. I haven't even started exploring the extras and "smart" amenities, but I'd say it's worth it for the picture along. Deep blacks, vibrate colors and detail that you literally have to see to believe.

We had an 11 year old Sony 50” TV and replace it with this model of Sony TV. We are very pleased with our choice of this product. The picture and features on this TV are unbelievable. Bright crisp colors and sound are something you need to see and hear for yourself. Highly recommend this TV.

This is the first Sony television we have purchased. We have had Samsung and LG in the past, all around 65". Sony is usually out of our price range, but Best Buy was having a nice sale. The XBR-65A9G is by far the best television we have owned so far. The colors are extremely vibrant with very good separation and deep blacks. The sound from the television is very good, for a television, but we added a soundbar for better bass. The setop was fairly easy and straight forward. It comes with several built-in apps, but the one we use most is Netflix. There is a large button on the remote just for Netflix. There are many other features that we haven't investigated yet, one of them being Chromecast. I will have to read up on how to use that. In my opinion(and my wife's), this is an excellent television and will consider Sony in the future if there is a sale.

I have been using this TV for about 7 months now, and I have to admit that it is unlike anything I have used in the past. The picture quality is amazing! I am a dark room set up kinda person, so reflection was never an issue for me. Speakers are okay. But enough of that...when it comes to the OLED bit of it, this one shines better than it's LG counterpart! The blacks are black!! I have played so many games on it for quite some hours and no burn in issues either (this is one thing that I was worried about). The 120HZ refresh helps a lot with games. I am no tweak wiz when it comes to video quality, but the Netflix mode is quite good!, and in all honesty, I am already blown away by the defaults, so never felt the need to make manual adjustments. Oh and one last thing, the viewing angles on this TV will blow your mind!

This OLED TV blew us away. The picture on cable TV is outstanding. It's has the most realistically clear color and definition. You can actually read the small print in commercials. It's that good. All the newscasters look like they are sitting across the room, speaking only to the viewer. The sound actually comes from the screen too. We have several flat screen TVs, but this one is the absolute BEST.

Ok so i been waiting for the A9G to come out all year long. It is perfect in every way, but im also a Sony Snob so i couldnt tell you anything bad about the product anyways. Perfect for all my game systems, and since im new to streaming tv it has been perfect in my transition from cable tv.

This TV is unbelievably, mind blowingly fantastic. Watching normal (1080p) DirectTV feels like I am watching in a theater. The color is so rich and vibrant, it is amazing. You can clearly see every hair and pore in a closeup. I have used it for about three weeks now and it still stops me in my tracks sometimes when I'm watching that it is such a great picture. The only problem I have had is that the voice recognition software is sometime triggered by something that was said on the TV. Not a big deal and has only happened a few times and then goes away automatically. This replaced a 5-year old same-size Samsung LED TV. The difference is amazing.

The A9G, at the $2500 I paid for it, is the most expensive TV I have ever owned. I wanted not only a superb image, but also audio that wouldn’t force me into buying a sound-bar so I could hear dialog. The question I had before buying the Sony was, “Is this really worth $2500?” In short, the answer is yes. The image quality is simply stunning. Most LED sets have excellent quality pictures, but nine have quite the visual impact of this Sony OLED. The picture is almost 3D in its depth and clarity, motion is smooth, color deep and accurate, and contrast just about perfect. I did do some minor adjustments to get the picture to suit my own viewing conditions and eye, but those adjustments are easy to make in the very thorough menu system. There is absolutely no drop off of image quality at any viewing angle, so you do not have to be sitting right in front of the screen for the best viewing. Sound quality is really very good although, like the picture, it did take some tweaking to get it where I wanted it. Dialog is clear, bass is decent, and I have no need for a sound-bar. My only minor complaint is the tight space under the unit when using the base, rather than a wall mount. The base allows about a half inch of room. My console apparently has a surface not quite level across its top, so one corner of the set touched the console. I had to install four small pads under the TV's base for clearance. My conclusion is that this Sony A9G is certainly one of a very few high end OLED sets currently on the market that truly deliver on all claims. The LG is its only true competition and, based on my own observations, it did not have quite the sound quality that the Sony offers. So, for me, I have no regrets in spending the significant amount of money for this very impressive OLED unit.

Sony made a very wise choice to use its competitors’s panel for this TV. LG is the pioneer and patent holder of the “Organic LED” TV panel which is the best display available (according to almost all reviews and my personal opinion). Sony (apparently paying LG for the use of their technology) then mated that fabulous display with their own (best) video processor and then added their own innovative sound system. The entire 65 inch display panel doubles as a speaker system! The processor takes the audio input and distributes it around different parts of the glass panel. The panel itself vibrates (like multiple speakers only better) and produces the absolute best sound that I’ve ever heard from a TV. It’s like getting a very high end sound bar included in the price. The sound system is expandable to a conventional Surround Sound if you feel the need, but I haven’t yet. When the video feed is from a good HD source (Blu-Ray, Netflix HD, or any 4K) it feels like you can just step into the screen and be there. And then there is Best Buy’s installation service which is totally worth the price. The Geek Squad team that showed up was well trained, professional, and had done this enough times before to anticipate most of my questions as well as some I didn’t know enough to ask. They reminded me that carting away the old TV (to be responsibly recycled) was part of the service. No kidding, they showed up, unloaded, unpacked, installed, and trained me on the device, then cleaned up after themselves, and departed with all of the packaging and within an hour. Other than my brand new and beautiful delivered and installedTV, there was no evidence that they had even been here. I bought my unit just a few days before all of the Malls in my state were shut down due to a “Shelter in Place” order. Considering how much we have enjoyed it since then, I have to say that I’m glad that I didn’t wait any longer.

Huge upgrade from what I originally owned (47in Sanyo LCD tv). The deep blacks and the 4k hdr are superb! For me the only con was the price but if you see it as an investment it's definitely worth it. The positive aspect is that the 24 month financing helps make the payments more feasible. Also it's a really nice feature for the a9g Master series that it adds to your existing surround sound system making it the center channel. The picture quality speaks for itself as stated earlier.

I’m a movie buff. LCD TVs all look too bright and artificial for me. I wanted an OLED but couldn’t decide between Lg or Sony own x950h. To me Sony picture is much more accurate. Then I discovered the Master Series with Acoustic+ sound. Everyone says the x950h has the same or even better picture than the Master series, but there’s a reason why it is the “master”. Picture is much more natural right out of the box, and being able to use the tv as the center speaker in a surround sound system is a whole new level. I understand the master series cost quite a bit more, but i was lucky to find an excellent condition open box. thanks Best Buy!

After spending a great deal more time at home this year as a result of the pandemic and watching TV far more that we have previously, it was clear that the old TV was not up to handling new content and streaming services. The Sonly A9G Master Series TV is brilliant, literally and figuratively. The picture has a true cinematic quality that makes it a pleasure to watch. It was easy to install and use; adding additional streaming content is effortless and takes minutes. Totally thrilled with this purchase and expect to be so for sometime! Thanks Sony for another great product...

I believe Sony TV's are the best made ever! My new Bravia 65" Class A9G Master Series OLED 4KUHD Android TV is not just sleek and beautiful on my wall, but delivers the most wonderfully clear, sharp picture and sound! It is easy to set up and use. I recommend it to anyone who loves movies b/c it covers edge to edge with picture , so there's no interference of frame. The picture has an excellent natural look. In a moderately lit room the I have no issues with the picture not being bright enough. I have it paired with a Sony amp and core speakers and the setup was straight forward. It will take two people to assemble and set up on your stand or to wall mount. It seems solidly built and all the back panels once snapped in place provide a clean modern look.

The picture quality on this set is second to none. Unfortunately, it makes it harder to watch my older television with a traditional LCD display ;). I am living with the sound system for now (the screen IS the speaker) to give it a fair evaluation, but it is actually pretty good. Operation of the TV is relatively simple, but I am still learning. I am very impressed and pleased so far.
