Customers are saying

Customers are delighted by the exceptional picture quality, vibrant colors, and easy setup of the 65" Class X900F Series LED 4K UHD Smart Android TV. They appreciate its great value for the price and find it particularly suitable for gaming. While some users have concerns about the remote control's functionality and the TV's speakers, these drawbacks do not overshadow the overall positive customer experience.

Great TV but with ARC issues

All around great TV that produces a beautiful picture but note that the quality of the picture is dependent on the source. You may not experience the best picture this TV is capable of because of, for example, weak resolution that at times feeds the TV from cable. I'm talking about 1080 feeds, not SD. Cable isn't cheap and I sometimes ask myself why have a great TV just to realize what cable isn't giving me for my money. Feeds through apps on this TV are fantastic. However, use of ARC can be frustrating and presents a problem that is just downright absurd. Following a Sony firmware update, I began to lose sound when playing any app (Netflix, Amazon, etc.). The only solution I found is to unplug the TV every time to get the sound back. This fix is temporary for after I leave apps and return again, the sound is gone again. What I eventually learned from folks more knowledgeable than I is that ARC can be "temperamental" if you are using components produced by two different manufacturers...in my case a Sony TV trying to work with a Yamaha home theater receiver. Two great products but ARC isn't in harmony between the two. Wow! You'd think things should work together but apparently the companies don't bother to make this work. So until ARC becomes something that different manufacturers coordinate with each other, I have to forego ARC and use an optical cable. This is nonsense and note that a call to Sony only produced the response that they know this is a problem with no indication that a solution is forthcoming. Should I spend money to replace my receiver with a Sony? Aside from the fact that Sony receivers just aren't as good as Yamahas, who knows if that would assuredly solve the problem. Sorry to spend so much time with the one problem I have had in incorporating the 900F into my home theater setup. It is a feature rich, outstanding performer. However, I sadly found that components from different worlds just can't get along when it comes to that sought after ARC feature that all companies boast about. 5 stars for the TV. 4 for the failure of Sony and all other manufacturers to not take the trouble to work together on ARC compatibility.

Bought the 65” model and couldn’t be happier. The TV settings right out of the box produce an excellent image. I tried the settings changes suggested by Consumer Reports and Rtings.com, but in the end I reset the TV back to its factory settings and just lowered the brightness for our darker room. It produces deep blacks and even illumination. While watching baseball with quick panning of the cameras to follow the ball I observed no motion blurring. The colors are rich and shows like Planet Earth II are gorgeous. I am a very happy customer.

We purchased this tv and all we can say is WOW right out of the box the picture was great but after a few adjustments it turned into fantastic ! we have this paired with a Sony X700 4k Blu-ray player and the Sony HZ9F sound bar and all work seamless together.this TV was easy to set up even after the updates some say the android platform is slow and hard to use but for us it works great and we are over 60,the sound was not the best but after going into the sound settings and changing a few things it`s now much better and fine for us, you have to look hard for those settings ! overall this is a fantastic TV super sharp picture and 4k movies will blow your socks off ! everything can be adjusted on this TV even while watching a move,it is a bit pricy but you get what you pay for ! it also has Dolby Vision right out of the box and that`s another WOW when watching a movie in Dolby Vision.thanks Sony great job on this one ….

Superb 4K TV with great black levels

I got this TV as a replacement for my 3 year old Samsung JS8500 via my extended warranty. Although I did not get this TV from Best Buy I do want to tell you all how great it is. The picture is amazing, the colors are rich and the black levels are near OLED levels (without any risk of burn-in). Playing my Direct TV through it or 4K via my 4K BluRay player or streaming from my 4K Apple TV are all wonderful. Sony makes a great 4K TV and this one shines.

My 12 year old Panasonic 55" plasma screen started to go a bit wonky towards the end of 2018. I decided I would take advantage of the holiday specials and treat myself to a new 65". It was most definitely a learning experience. I was a bit bummed that plasma TVs are a thing of the past so I plunged into educating myself about the many aspects of LCDs. I thought I had done my homework and decided on an LG SK8000. It was a good tv but there were 2 major problems. The halo effect was very bad and the picture was chronically dim. After tweaking everything about the picture I could for a week I failed to remedy the problems and exchanged it for a Sony X900F. This TV exceeded all my expectations right out of the box. Excellent, clear and bright picture. Whether it be during the day in a bright room or at night in the dark. The picture maintains its quality even at extreme side angles. I purchased a new soundbar at the same time as the TV. I probably didn't need to do that (but I'm glad I did), the sound coming from the TV speakers is clear and crisp. If you are purchasing an LCD for the 1st time, take the time to learn everything you can about the many aspects of the technology. There is so much to know about these TVs. Gone are the days when you could buy a new TV, plug it in and tweak a couple settings to your liking. It's way more involved now.

WOW, what a picture!! The sales rep was 100% correct when he told me this TV was "the best bang for my buck in his opinion". This is my first Sony (last 4 TV's have been Samsung). Great picture, very easy to set up. Basically plug and play. All my streaming apps (and then some) were already set up when I first plugged it in. Sound quality is great too. We love it!

    OMG!

I just bought this TV to replace another Sony 4K which died unexpectedly after less than three years. I saw it side by side with another Sony 4K TV and was utterly amazed at the clarity of the smallest details and bought it on the spot. When the TV was delivered and installed in my home I fired up my 4K DVD copy of Planet Earth II. OMG! The sharpness of the color and the detail you could make out blew my mind. I stood about 20 feet away from the TV and could still make out the individual hairs on the three-toed sloth in one of the early scenes. Another scene with the komodo dragons came up and at the same 20 feet you can make out the individual scales. Even my wife, who 1) admits she normally doesn't see such fine details and 2) tunes me out when I start talking about TVs, said it was an "amazing, beautiful picture." And to top it off I got the $200 price match when it went on sale the day after I bought it. Love this TV! Hope it lasts more than 3 years!

I did tried out almost everything LED TV for 65" and this is it if you can spit out 1600.00. If you can afford it, please do not look somewhere else, i believe for this price range the Sony BRAVIA is the best. The image, the sound and ease of use are in awe. LOVE IT!

    Great 4K TV from Sony!!

The 65" 900F replaces an OLED TV and it looks just as great as an OLED but only brighter. I cannot recommend this 4K FALD TV enough! The blacks are black (when using local dimming) and not gray like some LED TVs produce. This has a really bright picture for well lit rooms and also can be adjusted for night time viewing as well. The main thing is the extra $$$ you save by not getting an OLED when you purchase this instead. 4K UHD discs with HDR shines the best on this set! Just looking forward to Dolby Vision being added later at some point for a more brilliant 4K experience!

    Excellent Value

TCL series six is a great comparable picture and cheaper by $500. but at half the refresh rate, it is a no go. (I put a lot of value on the refresh rate.) Samsung Q 8 or Q 9 is better in many ways including design, but not worth $800-$1200 more, especially with new, potentially buggy, unproven innovations. Sony X900F available for $1400- $1600 is the best value with the best up-scaling, proven electronics, and in the top 5 of non-OLED TV sets with quantum picture quality. I did extensive research and I Love my Sony X900F for all the reasons above. It is coupled very nicely with an affordable Sony Blu-ray player with 4k up-scaling and a Yamaha Advantage Receiver. However the sound of the Sony by it self on the wall was clear and full and spacious.

Just remember this bad boys picture in the show room is streamed specifically for your viewing. But, after that is said. You are smarter then the average rabbit, you knew that! The set up with a wall mount, the hook up and adjustments were all as expected, a breeze! The picture is only as good as your WiFi! And, my WiFi is really poor where I live. Even said that I’m very pleased and would recommend this to anyone who has the room for it because it is big. I do use my sound system which enhances the viewing experience. Also, 4K means you have to have 4K to use it. 4k DVD player, 4K dvd and so on. I think Sony has brought back a quality product to the consumer with this one. Having this for only two weeks is to early to say it’s the best TV I’ve bought from Sony. This is replacing the first Smart TV Sony made some 10 yrs. ago which is the best TV we’ve owned. Wish us and you luck with this purchase because these TVs aren’t cheap to buy.

Since I have been buying TV's I've only bought Sony TV's. From the moment I plugged this one in, I was wowed. This 65'' replaced a 55'' from about 8 years ago that was 1080p HD. After visiting a few websites, I was able to get the picture settings the way I wanted based on our setup. This, paired with our Bose 5.1 surround makes for a great movie night. My only suggestion is if you are between the 850 and the 900, buy the 900. You will be happy you did.

Great TV but a few issues

This tv has excellent picture quality, I'm not a fan of the android TV OS so we use an Apple TV 4k for apps and a xbox one x for games/movie discs but the TV runs well as literally just a monitor for media run through it and we use a sound bar for audio. Here were the issues we had: The very bulky remote that is ridiculously oversized is very outdated and unwieldy it needs an update desperately. There's a problem running Dolby Atmos content through the TV, I did all the troubleshooting with a Sony rep on the phone and they couldn't fix this issue. If I plug my Apple TV or my xbox into my sound bar Atmos works no problem, but if we run the audio through the tv to the sound bar via HDMI ARC Atmos can't be enabled anymore. The final issue we had was that the sales people at Best Buy neglected to tell me that only HDMI 2 & 3 can actually handle full bandwidth, if you use 1 & 4 they can't handle high end data speeds. I specifically told Best Buy I was looking for a TV with 4 ports not 2 good ports and 2 bad ones. Overall the TV is really nice but the Atmos incompatibility and lack of 4 full bandwidth HDMI ports were a big issue for us. We kept the sets we bought but if Sony could release a software/firmware update to fix some of these issues we would be much happier with the TV's.

I returned this 65" Sony last week for two reasons. First, the remote control did not work when I used it from an angle of 45 degree. Second, the sound system was not good compare to Samung 65" QLED which I had returned because it did not have a good picture quality and was not crystal clear as described by store associate on that time. However, this Sony was better than Samsung in picture quality. When I returned this TV, the guy at customer service was not looking happy with my return. when I cleared everything, that guy at customer service told me I should better not come again to this store for purchase (Lessburg Pike) and select another Best Buy store if I was to buy a TV. .. He really provided a poor customer service at the end...
