Customers are saying

Customers are delighted by the exceptional picture quality, vibrant colors, and easy setup of the 65" Class X900F Series LED 4K UHD Smart Android TV. They appreciate its great value for the price and find it particularly suitable for gaming. While some users have concerns about the remote control's functionality and the TV's speakers, these drawbacks do not overshadow the overall positive customer experience.

    Do not buy this television!!!!

Having purchased thousands of products online, I have never been compelled to write a review... Until now. And- to be clear- this review has nothing to do with Best Buy. The service they've provided has been exceptional. The folks at Sony, however, have been AWFUL!!! I purchased this television less than 6 months ago and it initially worked brilliantly. I began experiencing issues with the picture after four months. The sound worked fine, but the picture wouldn't render; replaced instead by a series of vertical lines. The TV was/is still under warranty, so I contacted Sony who scheduled a service call. Two weeks later the service technician arrived. He tried replacing the motherboard, but either the replacement part was defective or there was another issue they weren't able to diagnose. The result... The TV still didn't work. So I called Sony and scheduled a second service call. Another two weeks pass. Again, they decided the issue had to be the motherboard, so they again tried to replace it. And again- surprise- the issue wasn't resolved. The only change... Now the TV won't even power on. Results of the second service call... The TV still didn't work. So to recap, we're now two service calls deep and still no resolution. I again approached Sony hoping they might take pity on me and replace the television or at least give me confidence they had isolated the issue. No such luck. They are insisting on another service call. And during this one, they plan to again replace the motherboard. Having taken two days off already and spent countless hours on the phone with individuals uninterested or unable to help me, I am beyond the point of frustration and have pretty low expectations that the issue will ever be resolved. I'm probably going to have to dip back into my pocket to buy another tv. Never again will I purchase a Sony product.

    HDMI Problems

Picture looks great but neither my laptop or Android TV box will work over HDMI. Both work just fine with my previous television. I have followed all of the troubleshooting steps on the Sony website. I am not a novice when it comes to A/V. Customer support is terrible. I told them I had already tried all of the different HDMI ports and reset the TV. Their response? Telling me to try all of the different HDMI ports and reset the TV. They didn't even read what I put into the support ticket.

    Broke after one night

I bought this tv last night, after doing weeks of research. The X900F series is supposed to be one of the best TVs that Sony ever created. I brought it home last night, hooked it up, and watched a single episode of a show. The picture was great and I was very happy. I woke up this morning and the TV won't even turn on. I replaced the batteries on the remote. I changed the power outlets. I tested the power outlets with other devices, to make sure there wasn't something wrong with my power outlet. There is no explanation as to why this TV will not work. This is extremely discouraging as to how this could even be possible. This is supposed to be a top of the line TV, that we as customers are supposed to pay $1300 for, for it to only last one night. Luckily, I purchased the warranty, through Magnolia, so they are going to send me a new one next week. But still, now I have to wait for them to be available, to bring me out a new TV. This is all just a huge disappointment, and I could not be less impressed. I'm really hoping that this piece of crap TV does something similar, within the next 5 years, so Magnolia will trade in my 900F, after they stop making the 900F, for a comparable TV. Make no mistake, the TV looked great, when it worked for 50 minutes. I was very impressed and happy. Buy this Tv, and you too will enjoy your experience, just know that you run the risk of it lasting a single night. If you read the reviews, there are other similar stories. It seems to happen much less often than it does, but if you buy this TV without a warranty, you're insane.

    Horrible Experience with Comparable Model

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Since they have removed the XBR65X900E, I am posting my review here because I was told by Sony over the phone this is the “comparable” model. I purchased the XBR65X900E Sony Bravia 4K Ultra HD TV in March of 2018. Mid-November the TV went out a couple of times on its own, and unplugging it and plugging it back up seemed to make it come back on. November 24, 2018, the TV went out again and I couldn’t get it to come back on. I did a chat session with Sony support and the end result was to do a complete factory reset. This seemed to work and the TV was back on. On the evening of December 16, 2018, the TV went out again and this time even a factory reset did not work. I called Sony support and we could not get the TV to come back on. Sony even sent a repair person a week later and nothing worked. Needless to say I was extremely frustrated and disappointed. And to add insult to injury Sony claims on the warranty it states they will not replace the TV with a new TV. They claim they can only give me a “recertified” TV. I still feel like I am going to vomit from this situation. The TV is a piece of crap, I’ve had the TV less than one year, and Sony would not even give me a new TV. After this experience I will never purchase another Sony product (and trust me I mean it), and I strongly suggest not purchasing this or any model Sony TV.

    DO NOT BUY

I’m the type of person that reads reviews on everything before I purchase. I did that with this television and I said to myself you know Sony is a well known brand maybe all the one start reviews just had bad luck. So I went ahead and purchased this tv. BIG MISTAKE!!!! Bought this tv on 1.11.20 and today 2.18.20 the piece of junk has stopped Working!!!!! Won’t turn on AT ALL!!!!! Who pays $1300 for a tv to just stop working. I’m so livid right now I couldn’t even get my blog post out about why people should avoid this tv but I did want to warn other buyers. Stay far away. And Tim at the Elkridge Md magnolia/ BEST BUY has horrible customer service. His smart tail self thought it was wise to tell me as irritated and annoyed that I am with this TV that it’s not his fault the tv stopped working and he’s not the manufacturer. Where’s your empathy ?! Are these the principles Best Buy teaches their employees?!?! You’ve been warned don’t buy this tv !!!!!!!! I don’t care how bright it looks in the store ITS TRASH and I’m going to let every website know that is pure GARBAGE!!!!!

    Disappointed

Purchased this Sony after considering price and Best Buy associates recommendation. Always been a Samsung guy, but didn't want to shell out the extra bucks for a Q8 or Q9, so I went with this tv. Brought it home, connected my new Sony 4k player, new 4k HDMI cable, and new 4k DVD. Expected to be blown away. I wasn't. My six year old non 4k Samsung that this tv was replacing has a better picture. Picture looked grainy, blurry in places, and not as bright as I hoped for. I know I can't replicate the images they play at the store, but this was really underwhelming. And if this wasn't enough, the design of the feet to support this set on a stand, tilt the set back at the top 1 3/4". Makes for a very undesirable viewing angle. If the engineers did this deliberately to avoid tipping, maybe they should redesign the feet and keep the tv vertical. Don't waste your money on this. Spend the extra few bucks and go with the Samsung.

Others said this is great for light rooms. Well not for ours. We have dark paneling, thank God, but 3 large windows with heavy slat venetian blinds off white, biege chairs, and a tiffany floor lamp. All of these are reflected in the screen in all their glory while viewing the tv. Night better? Only if we have no light by our chairs so yes nice unless we actually want to see the remote! Our old one is a panasonic with a matte screen which had none of this difficulty, so now will have to do custom drapes and find some Way to see things in our chairs which will add a Lot of money to this project and we on social security. In fairness this Does have all the other things we want and YES it works great with logitech 400 k keyboard to browse the internet. Should you buy one? Yes if you want sony quality and need what it offers such as alexa or google home, etc etc. No reflections, would have been 5 star. I have to put would i recommend, i will say yes but with all the above caveats.

Wayyyy Over Priced for Lack of Quality

I have probably spent 50 hours researching different settings and how everything works together and cannot get my picture to look anything close to what I was told at Best Buy nor what the picture looks like at BestBuy when I bought the TV. I have to constantly go back and change setting based on what I'm watching. For example, I can watch one movie on HBO and get the picture to look ok, and when I go to watch another movie on HBO is looks like garbage and i'll have to go back in and tinker with the settings again. This TV has taken the relax and enjoy out of my tv time and t feels like more of a job now as I am constantly battling the quality of the picture. It's never good to spend $2K on a tv and find yourself focusing more on the poor picture quality than actually what you're watching!! I will be returning the TV this weekend.

It worked exactly one year and one month. After that the screen went black and it will not turn on. Done and tried every trick in the market, it just does not do anything. Waiting for almost two years to have money to repair it! In the meantime I bought a 42 inch Samsung smart tv, and it works wonderfully. Sorry! waste of money. Sony has been riding on their reputation for a long time. There are better options out there,

    Stupid TV

This TV has literally a million problems. First, it logs out of the internet every single time you turn it off. Sometimes it has a real attitude and forgets your WiFi password even though you have put it in numerous times. Also, forget using the internet, because none of the apps work except Netflix and sling. This TV is an absolute piece. The picture is amazing but it does not deserve the title of a smart TV. You’re better off buying something else or just plugging your fire stick into it.

I thought buying a $2000 Sony TV wouldn’t have problems but after watching it for about 20 minutes I noticed a vertical line about 1/3 from the right side. It was on 4k movie and TV. It was either a burn in , or terrible panel quality. The picture was great don’t get me wrong but a $2000 Sony TV shouldn’t have a line in the picture... Be very careful when you buy one of these... Sony’s quality has went down significantly. Returned the TV the same day....

I've owned three Sony TVs the last 5 years, including this one. 2 of the 3 have problems where they constantly reboot. I believe it's an issue with their hard drive or some other component, which is a real shame since the picture on the Sony's does tend to be better but...when you constantly get interrupted watching TV it kind of leads to a 1 rating. Don't bother, go with the Samsung or other TV.

I bought a 65” Sony, XBR-65X850D, a little over a year ago and have had nothing but problems. First, the streaming function stopped working after 1 year. I bought a Roku as a work around. Fast forward a few months later, and now my TV keeps rebooting itself. I’ve called in to Sony and they were of no help. I looked online and found out the issues may be due to a software upgrade that Sony released... with bugs in it. Sony wants me to pay for a repair person to come out... to fix their software issue... which is ridiculous! Sony just lost a loyal customer and now I’m making it my mission to warn all Buyers to STAY AWAY FROM SONY PRODUCTS!!! Buy Samsung Products instead. I have several Samsung TVs and have never had problems. For your own sanity... STAY AWAY FROM SONY!!!!
