I did not like that at every angle it looked like there was a white haze all over the whole screen and no settings would fix it. We tried the 950 and no updated hdmi ports. Disappointed in sony

While we are glad that you like the picture quality, we regret to hear that there was a white haze all over the whole screen at every angle. This is definitely not the viewing experience we want you to have.
The best viewing distance depends on the size and the display resolution of the TV. The recommended distance for comfortable viewing depends on the video or program you are watching, the viewing environment, and the physical conditions of the person watching it. The recommended distance for watching a 4K TV is 1.5 times the TV's vertical screen size.

I returned my X800H and replaced it with the X900H when the X900H went on sale. X900H has better specs. I returned the X900H & replaced with another X800H. The X800H angle view BLOWS away the X900H. X800H has an overall better picture and design. Caveat: I watch HD cable & 4K streaming services. I don't game or watch spectator sports.
