Great brights and about as good blacks as you can hope for with a TV that uses LCD technology. Features and navigation are quick and easy to get to. The ARC functionality needs some work however. Sound cuts out or stops working altogether and a restart of the TV is the only thing that seems to remedy it.

A lot has been made about its peak brightness level testing lower than expected. I have to say it passes the eye test for me. Great picture for the price with HDMI 2.1/VRR coming via firmware update.

Wanted to be able to get the most out of my 4K movies and my Xbox series X. I’d say it’s night and day. Only problem is that Sony has still not released an update for VRR, something important for video games. As of Feb. 2021 I can only give it 4 stars. When the update launches I will revise score

Vertical Banding is terrible

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will start this out saying I am typically a Sony fan and I have had an old old-xbr52w4 for 12 plus years and it has been amazing. I bought a Samsung MU8000 back in 2017 and I was never happy with the blooming and black levers. So I wanted to get another television and it came down to the LG B9 or the Sony x950h. Then I saw a video for the new 65x900h and saw that it would support the hdmi 2.1 and I was sold. I waited for it to come out and finally on the first day of availability I ordered one. Well it showed up and looked amazing on the unboxing. I got it set up turned it on and loved the meus’s and the android operating system. Got it turned on started to watch programming and I loved the black levels and the way the colors popped on the screen. Then I put on the NHL channel and it was all down hill from there. I started to notice that the picture looked really bad when they showed the ice surface with the game playing. I didn’t know what was going on so I did so I thought maybe it’s just the NHL channel so I put on the NFL channel and I noticed the same problems when they would show the sky or the gray background at the stadium. I did some research and found out that this is called vertical banding. I also noticed that the very edges of the screen had what’s called dirty screen effect. It’s even more noticeable when you playing video games, which is one of the main reasons I got the x900h for the PS5. I ran a video that allowed you to check for vertical banding during greyscale tests and it was terrible. So now I’m stuck do I return the television and get another one in hopes that it was just a bad panel or is this a problem that is inherent with the x900h? Should I get the LG OLED b9? As a long time fan of Sony quality I’m very disappointed with this television. I’m hoping I just got a bad unit and this isn’t a problem with the design.

Very easy to use. The x900h is full array lighting. The x800h is edge lit. Pay the $300 more for full array, its twice the quality. Watch 4k video on the YouTube app that is installed it's all the picture you will ever need. Extremely happy with my purchase.

Picture quality is awesome (compared to my LG OLED) and setup was easy . It recognized all the devices connected to my A/V receiver and played the appropriate codecs as needed. Amazing picture quality, hdmi 2.1 on ports 3 and 4, hdmi arc/earc, and a bunch of features (too many to list). My only gripe would be there is the TV sound is not that great, but nothing a good soundboard can't help. The value you get for this TV especially when its on sale is unmatched.

Another great TV by Sony which was constantly on the moment I come home from work & leave the house for work. My grandkids asked for a room to play in & thought I finally have a valid reason to upgrade my TV. After looking around at BB I decided on this X900H. The sales rep was wonderful & knowledgeable with the Sony lineup. While I have not really looked into the settings the picture quality is very nice. It is currently set on custom & Is very clear. TV has been logging many hours since buying it last month & no issues. Unlike the X850C which came with 2 types of remote control the X900H only came with 1. The caveat is the remote control is long, thin & narrow therefore I feel will be easily broken. I will also miss the remote touchpad that came with my X850C. The reason for the 4 star is because I really have not had the TV long enough but so far it has the potential to be a 5 star.

Have used daily for more than two months as of this review 1-Purchased to upgrade from a 55 Sony TV (XBR55900E) for larger screen & native Airplay & Apple TV Plus (TV is great & gave to a friend who had an XBR 40 inch) 2-Luckily no dirty screen or pixel issues (fingers crossed) 3-Set up with a Roku Streaming Stick Plus and both worked well 4-Currently exclusively use above Apple apps & native Hulu, Netflix, Youtube, HBO Max, & Amazon Prime..all work with no issues of latency or any other issues. 5-Audio is via HDMI 3 (eArc) to a Sony STR-DH590 which is in turn connected to an Acoustic Audio PSW6 (subwoofer), KEF T301 speakers (Left & Right), and a Definitive Technology ProCenter 1000 (center channel). Sounds amazing! 6-Ethernet hardwired to modem/router 7-Currently attached on a swivel PerleSmith wall mount Overall great TV and very happy. Did not get a Sony OLED since I have a computer attached for work and leisure so wanted to avoid any screen issues. Hope all that have or about to purchase this TV have a great experience as well!

I suggest prioritizing what you want from a tv, especially at this price. For me the picture alone is not worth the price. I have a bit of buyers remorse. 1. OS: The operating system is snappy but I don't like it a bit. it looks like amazon FireTV. too much clutter and doesn't allow you to watch your programs as you search.I moved from LG's WebOS, which is heads and shoulders above. 2. Remote: the remote is limited in it's universal actions. it does take care of a sizable portion of my needs, but... if you don't have a Sony sound bar with HDMI input good luck. I prefer digital optical but nope. 3. Picture: it's good and can be great at times. but $400 better than the LG Nano90 or Vizio P series is a resounding no for me. I'm not a big gamer so I don't lose anything from the lack of gaming options. 4. Design: what TV doesn't have a nice design these days. they all essentially look alike. 5 Price: I guess if you watch TV 15 hours a day and need detail that can be only measure with high end software and tools.
