Sony Makes the Best TV’s

Unless you want to go more expensive and go the Samsung Q90t which is about $400 more and for no new features. So I would suggest to save your money and buy this Sony x900h

Input Connection Issues

Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We have several Sony TVs and dvd players and generally like this TV in terms of picture quality, etc., but since it was delivered about 3 weeks ago, we've had a few problems. First were internet connection (both wired and wifi) issues that were not experienced by any of our other devices. Rebooting TV did not resolve the issue, but it was okay the next day. Hopefully that was a one-time issue. More problematic have been component connection issues, in particular w/ our cable box. For the past four days, when powering on our system the TV does not recognize our cable box through the HDMI ports - it says “No signal. Check the external input or select another input…”. Each time I have to modify the "HDMI Signal Format" settings and, what's worse, it has required different changes for the signal to finally be recognized. E.g., yesterday and today, I had to change the settings for both HDMI input 2 and HDMI input 4, even though the box is connected to HDMI input 4 and nothing is connected to input 2! (I initially had the box connected to input 2, but changed when the first connection issue occurred.) When I connect the box to an old TV using the same HDMI cable, that TV immediately transmits the signal. And the same box worked without issue with the Samsung this new X900H replaced. No idea what’s going on, but changing the settings every time the TV is turned on is not an option. Presume I’ll have to call Sony and hope for a resolution, although I'm nervous given recent posts here. Unfortunately, we pitched the packing materials. If the issue gets resolved, I'll update this review.

We regret to hear that you are experiencing issues with the TV. We’d love to help you troubleshoot your problem by isolating your sources and understanding your connections. For the TV confusing the HDMI inputs, please do a power reset on the TV.
Turn off the TV.
Unplug the power cord for two minutes, and then plug it back in.
Turn on the TV.
Verify if it resolves the issue.
If the issue still occurs, please do a factory data reset on the TV. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
Select - Settings.
The next steps will vary depending on your TV menu options:
Select Device Preferences → Reset → Factory data reset → Erase everything → Yes.
Select Storage & reset → Factory data reset → Erase everything → Yes.
If you are streaming high quality 4K contents through the HDMI port, please connect a Premium High Speed HDMI Cable(s) and set the [HDMI signal format] to [Enhanced format]. The wifi stopped working a couple of times after I woke up the TV from standby, but it's easily resolved by restarting (hold the power button on remote to bring up the power menu).

Owned for 3 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.After carefully reviewing ALL major TV releases from the top 5 leading manufacturers for the years of 2019 and 2020, I decided to purchase this 2020 model Sony 65-inch X90H from Best Buy in Raleigh NC ($1500). I had just purchased a new home, and my living room was getting remodeled. I went ahead and bought the tv, which sat brand new in the box for about a month before my new living room was complete. The first few times i used the TV, there was no issue with my PS4 and Netflix. I only used it for a couple of hours a day, and i was completely blown away by the beautiful picture. My furniture finally came in and we finally set up our other streaming apps (Hulu, Disney, YouTube TV, and firestick). This is where the TV started failing. After about 2 1/2 – 3 hours of streaming, the WIFI in the TV would disconnect, and turn completely off. It would not allow me to turn it back on. I had to unplug the tv from the wall, and plug back in to get the WIFI working again. Then, the streaming apps started to fail. Every streaming app on the TV would freeze in the middle of a show, and make a GOD-AWFUL LOUD noise through the soundbar. The tv would then abruptly shut itself off after about 10 seconds of the loud noise, then turn itself back on. The streaming app would work again for a few hours, and the cycle would repeat itself. WIFI continuously cuts off and won’t allow me to turn it back on again. My JBL soundbar I purchased with the TV (an additional $1000) was connected through the eARC port, so I could control the volume with one remote. The TV would randomly fail to recognize the soundbar at times, and switch to internal speakers. I called best buy, as I had purchased a 3-year service plan for Geek Squad Total Protection (around another $300). Geek Squad ordered a new motherboard and WIFI controller to be shipped to my house. They dispatched a “highly experienced,”, older Agent, whom I will not name directly on this post to protect his privacy (even though I am extremely disappointed), who came to my house to investigate. He brought a younger gentleman with him and they took the tv down from my wall mount. They discovered the TV has NO screws on the backplate, and they did not know how to open the back panel to replace the motherboard (the WIFI controller was still in transit, had not made it to my house yet). Standing in my living room, they searched Google and YouTube for some type of instructions. They couldn’t find ANYTHING. They called another technician from Best Buy for guidance. He told them to do a Factory Data Reset on the TV, and see if that fixes the issue. They did so, then put my tv back on the wall and left. The Agent told me to give him a call directly on his cell if the TV malfunctioned again. 2 hours later, the TV repeated the same issues mentioned before. I reached out to the Agent to please come back and install the motherboard, and the WIFI controller as originally agreed. The Agent came to my house one week later (alone this time). I welcomed him in, and he immediately said “you’re not going to like what I have to say.” He informed me that Sony is now aware of the issues with SOME of the X900H models, and that they are going to eventually send a software update to resolve the issues. He could not give me ANY timeline of when this is supposed to happen. I asked him can he please replace the motherboard and WIFI controller, as the parts are sitting brand new in the box right in my living room. He says no, and that the issue is software related and Sony will eventually take care of it. He took the hardware parts and left!!!!! I am stuck with a NON-WORKING TV that I spent almost $2000 for, and I have NO ONE helping me. He said that he was unable to return the TV to best buy, as it was out of the return date. This is the absolute WORST experience I have ever had with any electronic device, and it is the most expensive TV I have ever purchased. I cannot believe I am going through this, please stay away from this TV if you are not willing to have a bad one delivered to you, and get stuck with it. I am posting here because I want someone from Best Buy to please reach out to me and make this right. I have family coming for Christmas and I need a working replacement ASAP, or at least issue a refund.
