Sony XBR-65X900H is amazing.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow what an amazing picture with this XBR-65X900H. The colors, contrast, brightness, whites, blacks, motion control and once again the colors are just brilliant. There are so many color adjustments that can be made to fit your individual tastes if you want but ours was fantastic right out of the box with the standard settings. I know Sony is well known for high quality and great picture quality from my past experience as I had a 25XBR from the mid 80’S that ran for 30+ years and it just kept running until technology passed it by. We upgraded from a 7 year old 1080p Vizio 60hz and it did well with it’s limitations but it was time to join the 4k world finally with a 120hz 2180p TV to finally get full potential with our 4k Pioneer Elite receiver and the combination is excellent. We looked at many other brands and kept coming back to the Sony and it’s natural picture quality that is very pleasing to the eyes without the oversaturating of colors and brightness that will get old on the eyes after awhile. Our final 2 choices came down to the X950H and the X900H and the X900H was holding it’s own very well even next to it and the OLEDs so we just couldn’t justify paying the additional cost for a slight difference as you can’t go wrong with either the X900H or X950H. The X900H was about $500 less than the X950H which was amazing to us and it has us set up for the future with it being ATSC 3.0 ready now with the HTSC 2.1 update arriving soon. We currently have cable that only broadcasts at 1080p so the X900H upscaling and X-motion clarity was seen immediately in picture quality. Current hookup is cable from wall to cable box, HDMI from Cable box to receiver HDMI IN connection and another HDMI cable from receiver ARC to TV ARC. For the AV wizards if there is better connection let me know. We never had access to streaming before and Android TV is fast with this 4k X-1 processor and very impressive indeed but also the surround sound with streaming thru our receiver is amazing as well so cutting cable is eminent. Ordering online and delivery by Best Buy was flawless. I was a little worried about setting up our first smart TV but after unboxing, setting it up and turning it on it was soooo easy to do and it walks you thru every step of the way perfectly. Once again Sony picture quality is amazing - so much so that the wife looked at it operating the first time and said order her one for the other room so of course I did lol. Things I had to have was 120hz, 4k UHD Full Array LED, Dolby Vision, HD10, Dolby Atmos, X-Motion clarity, ATSC 3.0, HTSC 2.1 with android/google assistant w/voice assist remote and this one has it all. I give it a solid 5 of 5 rating. It's great to be back in the Sony world again it is well worth it.

Stunning Performance at a Mid-Range Price Point
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I chose the X900H after some research on 3rd-party review websites, and overall I am extremely pleased. While some reviews claim that viewing angles are not great, I don't notice any appreciable quality drop unless at extreme angles. The picture is incredibly sharp and vibrant, and my only display complain comes in the form of some dark corners where illumination drops off. The most impressive aspect, to me at least, is the contrast and richness of the blacks; prior to the X900H, I owned another 65" 4K panel and the blacks were almost gray. One of my first viewing experiences with the X900H, I paused a video during a scene transition which faded to total black, and I thought I had turned the TV off by mistake. One of the main specs that drew me to the X900H was its game mode, which features some of the lowest input lag available today (7.2ms at 1080p/120Hz); Retropie/Batocera, etc. look and play amazing on this TV, and it did not disappoint. Android TV is smooth and highly functional; apps load quickly and there's a surprising amount available already. The remote is easy to read but features no blacklighting whatsoever, so bear that in mind (or use the app on your phone or voice control). I have noticed some apps freezing/locking up and the TV has reset a few times; however, reset/boot times are fairly quick. The TV connected to my 5GHz wifi in a snap and content loads amazingly fast. The built-in speakers are adequate for my apartment and feature some porting which seems to increase sound responsiveness; however larger living spaces may opt for a sound bar or something to supplement. While the box indicates a team lift, the box/packaging was designed well enough to allow me to safely install the feet by myself, and it was light enough to allow me to lift the TV onto my stand. I would definitely recommend a buddy for wall installations, however. The frame feels very solid and well-made, with some aluminum/metallic accents, and the construction is a mix of metals and rigid plastic. The included feet look (and are) very thin; however they are solid metal (with pads on the feet to provide grip and protect surfaces) and the TV feels very steady and I'm not afraid at all of tipping. All inputs/outputs are located on the left side and are easy to read/locate. It is worth noting that there do not appear to be ANY control buttons (power/volume/input/etc) on the exterior of the device, so you're reliant on the remote or the official Remote Control app. Overall, I'd recommend the X900H to anyone in the market for a great mid-range TV with excellent features and performance.

Amazing TV with almost OLED like picture quality
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.- Excellent blacks for not being an OLED. - Color looked great right out of the box, but if you take some time to adjust it a little more, your guests might mistake it for an OLED screen. - Games looked amazing on the Xbox Series X at 120 FPS (PS5 hasn't arrived yet) - Ease of use and the menus are snappy unlike previous Sony TV models. - I was thinking about the LG CX but I got this for half the price and it has been worth it so far. - Things I dislike are some of the apps I have not been able to get rid of that came standard with the TV.

This is the best TV on the market right now.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is absolutely the best TV I have ever owned. My last TV was a 50" Sony Bravia 1080p. It was very good and had low lag input for gaming but it finally went out on me after 7 years 2 months ago. I felt it was time for me to upgrade to a 4kTV not ready for 8k. Took advantage of the early black Friday sale that hit early Sunday on the 22nd of November. I was waiting and when I saw the price drop $400 dollars I bought it for pickup immediately that same day. The picture is glorious. This TV has good blacks and the colors are fantastic. I heard and saw the LGcx but it suffers from permanent burn in and LG tv's don't last that long compared to Sony so the choice was clear stick with Sony for quality. This TV is ps5 ready for it is the only TV in the in all of the models except the 8k that has HDMI 2.1 The 950 I think has it but no updates for that one. So you can game at 4k 120hz or 120fps. I can go on about the TV but you can read the description or look at reviews on youtube and the Tech TV guys only talk about the 3 hottest TV's to have which is this one which takes the top for ps5 and xbox series x ready and Samsung and LG for HDMI 2.1 TV's. Now I just got to find a ps5.

X900H + PS5. A perfect combination!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony 900H vs LG CX series. First off, I will say that I'm a die hard LG fanboy. Here are my honest opinions about the Sony X900H For the price this TV is my pick of the two. Yes on paper the CX is the better TV. But it shouldn't be this close. This TV looks great, performs great and it's so close the LG it's unreal. With ray tracing and in graphics and even in performance mode at 120hz modes both TV are so close is unreal. In my honest opinion for the price you really can't beat this TV. It's 120hz, I can use my tv remote to navigate the PS5 home, and I can use the PS5 controller to navigate the TV menu. Come on that's cool!!!!! If you're looking for a great TV and want to save some money GO with this tv over the LG. Don't get me wrong I'm an LG fanboy, I'll keep my CX but this TV is just as amazing and more affordable!!!!!

||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent tv. Looks great. Only disappointment is it is NOT ps5 ready like it advertises. Is supposed to have 120hz, hdr, and vrr. When i bought it, it was missing some features. However a recent patch helped bring it up to speed but it still doesn't have VRR, until a patch promised at a later date. Great tv. Disappointing lack of updated software

Great non-OLED TV but must do one thing first
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: - Great TV! Absolutely beautiful colors. Very nice blacks for a non OLED set. It doesn't reach OLED black levels but does a great job for what it is. - Lots of customization options to fine tune the picture. - Built in software is nice including Alexa integration. No need for an external Fire TV stick or Roku. - Decent sound but you'll definitely benefit from a sound bar. - 4k is very sharp. - Thin bezel. 99.9% TV! Cons: - Setup is not hard but does typically require 2 people to install the legs (we have a 65"). - There's a bug in the software (which I understand is in many Sony sets) where it will not wake from sleep mode. More accurately the picture is very, very dim. The solution to this is to do a factory reset (using the TV software). For me, this solved the problem. You can then apply any custom settings again. It's a great set!

Local Dimming That Works
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like many, I was torn between this unit and LG’s CX lineup for two primary needs: gaming and viewing content via streaming services. I am critical in local dimming as it tends to be more of a miss. Even in LGs nanocell product line there is noticeable ghosting/blooming. The X900H’s array can fool almost anyone with its near inky black levels in a perfectly dark room. Out of the box, the picture settings need minor tweaks (lookup 3rd party custom settings) and thanks to the most recent update ports 3 and 4 show HDMI 2.1 capabilities and enhanced performance (4K@120fps). On a sale this unit is great value with worry free burn-in against the LG CX. You’ll customize the Home Screen quick and buried in the settings you can deselect the bloat ware of apps from Sony and Google and once that’s done it’s a very clean and fast UI.

Went Back and Forth for Days
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I watched reviews and studied ratings for days before pulling the trigger on this model. I upgraded from a Samsung Series 7. What a difference. If you are a gamer and plan to purchase a next gen console then look here. If you are looking to watch more 4K movies or sports then you will want the x950h. I narrowed my search down to this model and a Q80T. Although the Q80T cost more, I found that there was not enough difference in picture quality to justify the cost. Picture and motion are incredible on this set. Plus I love the Android TV coming from a Samsung. This TV is also outfitted with multiple 2.1 HDMI ports, earc, and VRR (all to be activated by later firmware), so you’ll be ready for next gen. I was absolutely floored when I played Blue Planet II. Well worth the price as it is comparable to sets that cost $1000 more.

Amazing for Gaming
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After doing a ton of research I decided this was the TV for me. I wanted something with HDMI 2.1 for my future Xbox Series X. I also didn’t want to spend an insane amount of money and got the 65 inch on sale for around $1,000. This was not my first 4K TV but it is my first non budget model. The TV looking amazing with my Series X. Movies looks amazing as well streaming from the many built in apps. Everything is easy to use. My only complaint is some minor software bugs regarding HDMI 2.1 but many of them have already been resolved via updates and Sony will continue to update it as well. I highly recommend this TV for people wanting to game, especially with their next gen console. It may not be the very best TV on the market but the price is right and to me it looks absolutely amazing and was still a huge upgrade over my previous 4K TV.

Best Bang for Your Buck
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.During the first few weeks this tv gave me problems. While watching a show or movie it would just crash, shut down and restart. It would do this once every other day. I updated all the settings like auto shut off, etc., changed the batteries, unplugged it and rebooted it, did pretty much everything on my end. It would also turn on randomly when I'd come home from work. It did that 1-2 times a week. I would send the error reports if any and updated the tv. After the 3rd update I have not had one issue. It works perfectly and looks great. I have my PS5 connected and with the 2.1 HDMI update, I can play CoD at 120hz. I wanted a crisp looking 4K TV, HDR, HDMI 2.1, NO BURN IN, and this is it. No other tv can compare in this price range. It was around $1200-$1300, but on Black Friday it was $999.

Best bang for your buck 65”
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What a deal for a 65”! Got it for $1000 and it’s worth every penny at that price. I’ve came from another 4K TV. However, this was the best bang for your buck. 4K 120HZ future proof and if even you don’t get the new consoles you’ll be set whenever you do. I’ve tested gaming and movies, with the latest firmware update, and the picture quality is excellent. Colors are stunning without a professional calibration. I think Sony hit the nail with this one. However, there was a lot of compromise with this TV, but once you get into your setup you’ll be happy with with the performance. Such a great deal at $1000. Only wish Sony kept it at this price. With time, i feel it $1000 will be a standard price for this performance. Will recommend to anyone tho!

The Heir-Apparent in the X900 TV Line!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was preparing to switch from cable tv to internet-based tv services, and also wanted a 65" size TV. Considering the amazing experience I've had with the X900E, I was excited for the X900H 65". Overall, it has been a wonderful set, and continues the legacy of its predecessor in terms of having an excellent picture quality, an extremely fluid and practical Android TV smart system (this was a MUST HAVE feature for me after using the X900E), and a great set of overall future proof features in the ATSC 3.0 and HDMI 2.1, the latter of which will be activated in a future promised update by Sony. As mentioned, I recently "cut the cord" from cable tv, and I actually have more quality channels now than I had through cable, thanks to the wide variety of apps available through the Android TV App Store. The Smart functions of this TV are amazing, with an extremely fluid transition between apps, and a very easy interface to navigate between them seamlessly. The remote control has also been upgraded, offering a more intuitive layout, and it is even more responsive than its predecessor (which was already very responsive). For the first month or so, the device worked perfectly, but after a system update, it had a few infrequent glitches, such as periodically disconnecting from the wifi and requiring a restart to access it again, or just restarting itself. Both have happened at least three random times, almost always after waking the tv up from standby after it was off overnight. These issues seem to have resolved (possibly an auto update, or something was app-related), but since it was noticeable back when it happened, I am taking off a star for this. Overall, this is a great tv set that packs in user-friendly features that are fun and easy to use. I'd recommend (and have recommended it) to anyone looking for a solid tv with exceptional features and excellent picture quality, but those desiring to "cut the cord" from cable tv will find this set particularly helpful in doing that, with the Android TV interface and plethora of net apps at you disposal. The future-proof features make this a worthwhile investment for upcoming tech standards too. You cannot go wrong here.

Beautiful TV!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was originally on the fence between this TV and the LG B9. My primary use is gaming with Netflix binging secondary. I had concerns about the burn in on the B9, and when I saw the price drop on the X900H I decided to go for it. For those who aren't familiar with this TV yet, Sony has stated this set will receive a OTA update providing the full HDMI 2.1 feature set on HDMI ports 3 and 4. The blacks are amazing. The first time I saw a loading screen and everything was truly black except for the logo I was surprised. Previously I had the opportunity to game on a B9, and I thought only OLED could have blacks like this. I had read that Sony TVs had excellent upscaling, but this is a pretty big upgrade from my old Samsung. Regular HD (1080p) content looks better, even with the move from 50" to 65". The out of the box settings are great. I spent hours if not days off and on tweaking my Samsung, but the Sony looks great with the default Game mode and Netflix Calibrated Mode. The TV does accept 1080p 120Hz and 4k 60Hz 4:4:4 from a PC. There's two concerns about this set cirulcating and I'd like to bring those up as well. The first one being that the CPU could be too slow resulting in a laggy UI or apps. That is not the case. The Android TV UI is not laggy. Apps open immediately and settings menus are lightning quick and smooth. The other is a concern about the number of dimming zones. I haven't owned and compared a bunch of FALD TVs, but I don't see any issue. This TV absolutely belongs next to the B9/BX on anyone's comparison list and I have no regrets.

WOW big Change Great TV
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony has the best picture IMHO. This TV is awesome for Gaming also. The tv is easy to set up and can control the DVR, Cable box, audio, and casting. I enjoy the preconfigured Netflix settings really make the picture POP. The smart tv is good for cable cutting because of the google cast built in as well as the ability to download apps from the google play store. Many TVs are limited to brand/sponsored app stores. The voice search works well and will scan all apps and confections for TV program. Of course speaker are better then some TVs but not great. This can process Atmos if you have an audio system, if not i would buy one. eARC tv with optical and 2USB, 4Hdmi

Excellent TV
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an excellent TV and a great value at under $1,000 for a 65". I've had this TV for about 2 weeks and the setup was easy. It's great right out of the box with a few minor changes to the picture settings. Pros: The colors are very natural looking and the motion processing is excellent. The TV gets very bright and I actually had to turn it down to about 20 (max is 50). The HDR and Dolby Vision content looks amazing. I am not a big fan of Netflix Calibrated Mode since it gets too bright for me. I watched football over the weekend and the image was clear with no motion blur with the motion flow set to minimum. I don't like soap opera mode but when set to a minimum its not noticeable. I love the android operating system and on this TV is super responsive and will save you money on an external streaming device. The sound is decent but I will add a sound bar. I connected my PS4 Pro and the gaming experience is out of this world. There is minimal to no input lag and the response time is amazing but you have to set it on game mode in order to get those benefits. The amazing thing is it does not compromise on the Pic quality in Game mode HDMI 2.1 is unlocked on HDMI Ports 3 & 4 but sill waiting on the ALLM & VRR updated. Cons: There are visible dark corners in light bright scenes which is a downside for all FALD TVs. It's not really noticeable in content and it doesn't really bother me that much. The TV would reboot randomly and sometimes would not turn on the first time. I reached out to Sony and they remotely accessed my TV and made changes to the setting and now its working fine. The cable management is not great and it looks messy if you are putting it on a stand. The remote is unusually long but you get used to it. Conclusion: This an excellent TV and most of the Cons are minor and nitpicky. It has a premium build and it a great bang for your buck. It's amazing what this TV can do with only 32 dimming zones. I would definitely recommend it for folks who want a balanced TV which offers great movie, tv and gaming experience at under a $1,000.

TV great (w/caveats), Sony Customer Support - meh
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned this TV almost a year now, and have been mostly very pleased; this TV came highly recommended by multiple reviewers (RTINGS.com, Digital Trends, etc.) and I ultimately decided to sacrifice getting a 55" LG CX OLED to buy a larger TV at a better price point for my budget that would still remain relatively "future proof" for the latest generation of games consoles. Out of the box, no complaints. Easy setup, great Android TV integration, and the picture was beautiful for a mid-to-high range LED TV, particularly in apps that support Dolby Vision, such as Disney+ and AppleTV+. Also, worked very well with PS5 (although where is the support for VRR or ALLM, Sony? A year in, and still no sign.) Following a firmware update in June this year, I noticed a real decline in the picture quality; specifically, noticeable vertical banding/"jail bars" when watching certain content like sports that pan rapidly left and right, and obvious issues with blooming when Auto Local Dimming was activated, which seriously interfered with darker/black screens. I decided to contact Sony Customer Support, who ran through very basic troubleshooting ("unplug the TV for 2 minutes, it could be static") before asking that I send in still pictures of the issues. I explained that the vertical banding was only noticeable during moving pictures, but attempted as well as possible to capture the issues I was having. Sony reached out to me again to say that upon inspection by their engineers, the TV was "operating within specification" and that there was no further action they could take or person they could put me in contact with to escalate the case; no engineer visit to see the problems in person; no offer of a warranty replacement; nothing. After a short period of feeling resigned to being stuck with this $1000+ "lemon", I did my own research and found that others had solved the issue by performing a factory reset on the TV (something the Sony Customer Support team did not suggest to me at any point in our communications). This appears to roll back the firmware to a version launched in May prior to the faulty firmware being rolled out by Sony; upon further research, it would seem the faulty firmware was removed from circulation by Sony shortly after it was released - this was not communicated to me in any of my contacts with Customer Support, nor did I find any other official communication from Sony online about this. I would not discourage anyone from buying this TV, especially right now - the new X90J is not a huge upgrade and, at the time of writing, this TV is over $500 less at Best Buy. Just know that if you are having similar issues to mine, you may need to try a factory reset to roll back the firmware, and if (heaven forbid) you have a more substantial hardware issue, you will have to fight tooth and nail to have Sony Customer Support do anything to resolve the problem - if you are really concerned that you may have issues, pay for the Geek Squad coverage, as the Sony 1-year limited warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on.
