It's simply a receiver but after several other units that failed within 1 - 2 years, this has been an amazing, reliable performer with great sound and ease of switching between Cable, DVD, CD, and AUX.

Good quality unit. Bought this for an outdoor theater setup. The features were perfect for this use case - plenty of power to support backyard theater-time. We have other Sony products, and this lives up to that excellent reputation.

First receiver I’ve used with multiple HDMI hook ups Was a bit confusing at first. Haven’t used all the features it has to offer but so far I have been pleasantly pleased with what I’ve seen and especially heard.

Ok for a small system was not exactly what I was looking for

I have had this Sony receiver for several weeks now. I wanted something that could push my Sony powered subwoofer and some Vintage speakers, that would also work with my smart T.V. I found it! My bass booms and this has 2 sub W outs. I want another one! Love my bass. I have a 70's ARLST-2 Center and 2 JBL vintage studio monitors for my fronts. I plugged in included mic. for Auto Calibration of the room and BAM! Sounds Great! I have done some manual tweaking since, but not much need for it. I love my old school speakers. Easy to set-up and use with remote. Note* I give this a 41/2 Star review ONLY cause I wish it had a Blue Ray player, but I knew that when I bought it.

Great sound and easy set up. I chose the 5.1 due to not needing anything more. The subwoofer response is very good. Make sure your speakers are rated to work with this system though.

I got mine on clearance, open box. Sounds good and easy to use. Menus are basic and a bit clumsy. Just discovered the AV rca input on mine is not working so will need to look into the Sony warranty, but probably related to the reason it was open box in the first place, I would guess. It's an inexpensive receiver. If your needs are basic I recommend it.

This recent purchase of the Sony home theater was a very good buy at Best Buy. Not the highest grade available And actually the lowest price available here that had HDMI ports. Great sound, good looks, easy to operate.

Great receiver. Has ARC for TV audio, 4k passthrough, full function remote. They should note in BIG letters that full setup can only be done on TV screen! They should also provide an HDMI cable for this, I'm sure many people won't have a cable. Manual is not very clear even online.

Have used it for about 1-1/2 months now. I don't crank music like I used to anymore. But for my "moderate" volume with music and TV it works great. Just wish it had more input/outputs but...you get what you pay for. Best Buy matched the price on this so I saved a good chunk of money. Being that it DOES NOT come with a manual, configuration/setup was a little work. Overall I'm satisfied with the unit, and Sony support is great most of the time and not so great other times. Happy with my purchase.

The only way to control the bass and treble is on the television through HDMI. I originally tried purchasing the 2-channel amp, but this was on sale. So be prepared to hook up to your television because it may sound a bit flat until you brighten up the sound to suit your speakers.

i was looking for a lower priced HDMI 5 channel receiver for my mom's built in surround sound. the unit is great, easy to hook up, and easy enough to operate that my 70 year old mother can use without any hassle.

Works just fine for a basic home theater system. Detailed user manual is online only and is a little funky, but most information is there if you keep digging. Limited number of decoding options, but Dolby Digital works great. I like the dual subwoofer outputs since I use a pair of Large Advent speakers for woofer / subwoofer duty. They won't shake the walls, but sound great at moderate listening levels.
