I needed a new receiver as I had to move my existing one to another room to support a turntable. Am I glad I did, this entry level receiver has great sound and home theater effects. I just need to get a new center speaker to complement the sound coming from the other speakers with this new box!

I bought for my mother-in-law. She didn't want a full blown home theater, but she wanted to play CDs, LPs, and watch some blue rays. She has efficient speakers, so this unit had plenty of power. Setup was easy, HDMI pass thru worked as expected.

Beginner system. Small video game room. Get 2 subwoofer with this unit.....

I was reluctant to purchase this one because I purchased a better model Sony that stopped working just after using it for one year when the warranty expired. I am trying this one to see if it is better and it serves my need for the location that I have it.

My old Sony receiver died on me and after talking with a sales associate and going over my needs he suggested this one. I am very happy with the way it works with my old speakers and items that are connected to it. Has better sound than my old Sony.

I was assured that this receiver would work great as a music 2 channel stereo receiver and that the added channels would be an additional bonus for my TV surround sound. But my main reason for purchasing was to play music. It didn't have enough bass so I purchased a sub woofer to compliment the receiver. The sub woofer appeared to be a plug and go setup but I couldn't get it to work. I called Sony's tech support and spent over 2 hours on the phone just to get the sub woofer to work. The receiver didn't have real bass, treble, and no balance features and when we got the sub working I even lost the concert, auditorium, jazz, rock, etc., settings. So I had absolutely no controls over my sound. By this time I was so fed up that I returned the receiver to Best Buy and now I am shopping for a good 2.1 channel receiver. But like the heading to my review says that if you buy this as a surround sound receiver, it may work great for you.

Hard to beat this. Have Bose surround sound setup and my Onkyo receiver died on me. It was hard to find an affordable option that included surround and a sub output. Love the calibration feature to help balance surround sound automatically vs adjusting each speaker manually.

I only buy Sony audio and video equipment, and the A/V Receiver integrated easily with all my components.

I was looking for a basic receiver to hook up to my TV because I love to hear movies on stereo speakers. This receiver was simple to set up and performs exactly the way I want it to. And the price point was within the range that I needed to stick to.

Had neighbor that needed a simple HD 5,1 receiver for great price, Sony fit the bill!

Went to purchase a microwave and stumbled across this sound system. We didn't have our surround sound (built in speakers) hooked up and decided to give this unit a try and are VERY please with how well it works. WE received great info from a sales associate and are glad we purchased.

I bought this as a Christmas present for my Son. We connected a DirecTV box, an Apple TV box, and a DVD player. We also connected a 400 watt subwoofer with matching tower speakers for some amazing sound from an inexpensive AVR.

Bought this for my son as a beginner home theater system. I helped him set it up and was very pleasantly surprised how good it sounded. It has also gotten better as it has broken in. I can highly recommend this system as a beginner system and I believe it is very good bang for the buck!

This receiver has the updated ports for hooking up to current technology. Very happy with this product

I had my old amp for about 8 years so it was time to upgrade, and I'm glad I did! My speakers never sounded so good. I love that it comes with a microphone to auto-configure your surroundsound. I also love that it automatically turns on and selects the active input. Great purchase

Yeah good quality reasonable price radio for my nephew and found that here at Best Buy

If only this product had an AV to HDMI converter built in I could’ve really used it for hooking up old school electronics to it along with all of my newer components and ran them all through an HDMI out to my TV. Great price tho!!

love this receiver it actually set up surround sound in our tiny living room awesome

This receiver for the price does a very good job. It was a little hard to connect the speaker wires because the connections are so close and the way you have to connect them. I would recommend this receiver for people on a budget.
