Bought this receiver so we could hook up the surround sound for the Xbox. The receiver was very well priced for the features it has. Easy to setup with the auto configuration microphone and it has all many of the custom configuration options of more expensive receivers. Sounds great, makes the gaming experience much more enjoyable. Well worth the price.

For the price it's ok for the average user. It has an easy speaker configuration setup that uses a microphone. The sound quality is great for those with medium to small speakers. I have 4 large speakers and they didn't sound that bad. My issue is the stereo maxes out at 73 on its volume scale. Between 30-60 there was very little noticeable increase in volume. Once it hit 60-70 it was not that bad. So between 0-30 and 60-70 in my case is where the stereo shined.
And HDMI 1 channel, when I used the factory remote....turning down the volume made the picture screen go black. Using my TV's remote since I have it linked up by the HDMI ARC connection, was able to lower the volume without the screen going black. I'm using a media center on the HDMI 1 port.
So I guess all in all it's not that bad, my issues was the very little audio change from 30-60.
I would recommend this for someone with small to medium speakers in mind.

Excellent receiver. My last one only lasted a year. Too many problems with it. The volume moved in halves. Press too hard on the volume control and it moved so fast I was way past the level I wanted. Programming was a nightmare and the power was not there.
The Sony had what I wanted in a receiver. Two fiber in-ports, one for the TV and one for my PC. The wattage really powers my JBL upscale speakers. The sound is super. Programming is a breeze. All my FM statins come in. I have found the brand for life.

You get a lot of power for your money, but it’s missing some of the most basic functions that are normally intuitive such as bass, treble, etc.
I was originally looking for a 2-channel amp, but ended up with this since it was on sale. I didn’t know you had to hook it up to your tv just to make bass and treble adjustments though. Once i did that and fixed the sound to the way I like it, I unplugged it from the tv since I only wanted it for music.

After having this receiver for about a month now I can definitely say it was a great purchase. It has plenty of power and sounds great with my speakers. Easy set up with very easy instructions. I love the plug in speaker calibrator that it comes with. It even made it easier to set up properly. Sounds way better than the Onkyo I had before.

My SonySTRDH550 Reciever is Great! I run everything thru the receiver. Just Select what I want to use Push the Button FM Radio, TV/SAT. BR, Player. When using my smart TV I just turn the Cable Box w / TV and all is on ready to watch, I am sure the more I use it I will find other shortcuts to operate things. Looking forward to mastering it all :-) ( just isn't much fun only learning the basics * TV / Surround Sound Only ) more more more learning :-)

Setup is a breeze with the included microphone. Put the mic where you sit and start the automatic process. The system adjusts tone and delay to fit your space. We used Sony speakers all around including the active subwoofer. Very pleased with the results and value. Highly recommended.

This is a great, plug and play system for use in mid size rooms or smaller. Wouldn't recommend it in large rooms, but very good for small to mid size rooms. Easy set up, easy calibration right out of the box. Simple to use and operate. Great buy for the price!

Couldn’t pass up this receiver when marked down to $114. Open boxed of course but excellent condition and for a beginner receiver, it gets the job done. BestBuy’s reputation for high prices are from people who don’t do their homework and don’t wait for there favorite products to be discounted. Great price for a great receiver that will have your friends and family thinking you spent big bucks on an expensive sound system.

I was looking for a new receiver for my home theater. This hit the price point I was looking for. I didn't need a lot of extras, just a simple pass-through device with multiple HDMI inputs. The 'puck' used to set up the speakers was a piece of cake, and the theater sounds great.
