2nd best looking TV at Best Buy. I like the picture on the Sony XBR79X900B better and would have went that way if it didn't have the ugly exposed speakers on the side. I have a nice audio system and it just could not overcome how it looked. Am I happy with what I bought , yes. Good picture, little to no motion blur. I have had the TV for about three weeks and there are some issue to be aware of 1) you will need to look up some better picture setting than use the existing modes. The Rtings settings are pretty good. ( I can't wait to have it calibrated in. Month or so. 2) Netflix app. I can only get it in stereo and not surround. The 4K programs come in at 1080. I will say 1080 picture is better than my Samsung Blueray or my Apple TV with less judder. 3) little 4K content available 4) Their is not an easy way to charge between the picture modes. I would like to have a day and night setting and would like to be able to toggle them with an individual button. 5)The TV is still work in progress. Sony has issued two updates since I received the TV so it is taking care of some of the small issues this TV has. I replaced a 80" Sharp that needed a screen. I have never been big on extended warranties but this time it paid off. My recommendation would be to negotiate the price because what BB charges is outrageous. I will also tell you that they installed the new TV that the wall bracket had to be lowered due to the wall bracket mourning on a different area than the Sharp. So far I am a happy camper

This TV is amazing! The 4K technology is the wave of the future. Though there is not a lot available in 4K as yet, it is soon to come. For now, the HD picture is sharp and a pleasure to watch. The 75" size is perfect in our living room and we couldn't be happier unless the sound/audio was better. That being said, our theater system was just the ticket!

So far I believe I picked the best 75 inch tv. Great color, contrast and size. I didn't see any reason to purchase the high end models because of the price and few extra features. Of course, that's just my opinion and everyone else has to decide which model is right for them.

So I already owned the 65" version of this TV, so I knew it was great. After geek squad installed everything...WOW! Just WOW!! Amazing picture. It is huge! Literally takes up my whole mantle. I got the sound system to go with it too, and it feels and sounds like a theater. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!

4k looks great even while streaming but there is always some type of grain especially on the darks. I'm guessing its the source, I plan on getting a uhd blu ray player to see if this remedies the issue. I bought this a year ago and I do love it though. I think I'm going to be getting on OLED for my main room and put this one in the bedroom. Video games look super good, notice motion blur quite a bit on a white background. When it's a black screen at night you can see white splotches I'm assuming is from the backlit. Not an OLED but I'm happy.

4K picture is breathtaking. This is the TV I have been waiting for. I'm a young professional that has just recently bought his first new home. It's the centerpiece of my house and living room. Android apps and updates work seamlessly and Netflix and other apps that are available through Sony are fantastic. The only thing I saw was that during sporting events you can see pixelation if it's not HD content. But with confidence you will not be disappointed. And now with the reduction in price....it's an even better deal!

Although this is 2015 model 850C ,it had everything on my checklist Va panel , wide color Gamut to make colors pop , good black uniformity for watching movies at night. Android set up was flawess, and after 20 minutes of updates, everthing was good to go. The one thing about this tv ,it was great out of the box I haven't even made any adjustments yet just changed to standard and from warm setting to cool. I highly recommend this tv if you can still find one.

    Amazing! But one issue .....

I have had my new Sony XBR75X850C LED 4K Ultra HD TV for week. Initially, although impressed after the install; I wasn't 100% blown away. So the next day I took time to ensure my Directv box was showing the highest resolutions (which it was not), set the aspect ration to widescreen 16:9 on both the Sony and Directv box (which they were not), and reset the Sony back to factory settings in order to erase all the settings the Magnolia installer performed. Once I made these changes, I was blown away by the picture quality. Now the good! The picture from Sony with very little tweaks from the default settings produce one of the best pictures I have even seen. Directv 720p and 1080i resolutions channels come in extremely well on this massive 75” screen. I can tell that these channels were up-converted to provide a picture quality as good as any 1080p resolution you can get. However, it would be disingenuous to suggest Sony up-convert these channels to a 4K level. Now the fun! The XBR75X850C is a “smart TV” which means it connects to Netflix, Youtube, Amazon Prime, and many others internet apps. I limited my apps to these three for now, but it works very well. I am sure to play around more as I own this TV. Now the Amazing! After all, we buy this TV for the 4K. Later this year, Directv will be rolling out 4K content and new equipment to receive 4K broadcasts (btw, this Sony has a Directv box built in). I plan on trying that out when my Directv installer comes to switch out my hardware. My first look at 4K came from Youtube. I open the app, searched for 4K videos, & started to play them. WOW! The picture in 4K is truly remarkable. Also the streaming ability of the TV within Youtube worked perfectly without any issues or any loss of the 4K quality. My second look at 4K came through Amazon Prime. This wasn’t as good as Youtube. There is very limited 4K content on Amazon but I found all the quality of Amazon’s video not up to my standard. So I moved over to Netflix! Netflix! First, the interface on the Sony for Netflix is amazing. You have one dedicated button to switch from TV to Netflix. It works seamlessly. The picture quality of Netflix standard content comes in super well. But the 4K content truly blows you away. I sat down looking at 4K content for 15 minutes & was speechless! Plus most of Netflix original programming can be stream in 4K (you do have to upgrade your plan). This would be the perfect ending of a perfect 5 star review. But as my title suggest, we have one problem. After using XBR75X850C for nearly week, I noticed Netflix started to degrade the 4K signal to 1080, then 720, and worse. It would go up & down. This was a familiar issue for me since my 2014 1080p 55” smart Sony TV in my bedroom does the same thing. It only does it via a direct connection to Netflix from the TV. For example, I will have all types of quality and connection issues with my 55” Sony when using Netflix directly but all those issues go away when bringing up Netflix via my Apple TV or Roku. Now it seems to have a similar issue with this beautiful 75” 4K TV. I did all the normal things. I refreshed the signal, turn it off and on, rebooted my router, etc. Some of these things work for awhile but eventually the wifi signal in the Sony degrades. I started to search the topic online. I found hundreds of others complaining about the same thing. This is such a black mark on an otherwise amazing TV & thus why I can only give it 4 stars. I plan on contacting Sony directly for a possible solution. I did see some advice online but it requires to manually set the wifi settings on the Sony and doing something to your router. In conclusion, I really love this TV. I am hoping to workout the Netflix thing since I really enjoy watching their 4K content. If I find a true solution, I will update this review & give it the 5 stars it deserves.

Great Midrange 4k TV: SONY XBR75X850C

At $4,299.99 it is nothing to scoff at by far the most expensive tv I have ever purchased. TV I owned before being a 2011 1080p 70" Sharp Aquos @$2499.99. Now with that being said I personally feel that I overpaid by $300 because in my opinion this tv is worth $3999.99 not $4499.99 original asking or reduced $4299.99 price 2 months later but I'm ok with that. That is price you pay for EARLY adoption. Picture quality is only bested by the higher x940c or Flagship x950b but asking price is nuts for almost double price or 25% respectively compared to the x850c. With only a visual picture quality increase of 20% on the x940c or x950b you get more bang for your buck with the x850c. Granted you get awesome speakers and 20% visual quality boost on the $7999.99 x940c. Or in the case of the $5499.99 x950b you get that 20% visual quality increase but you lose 10 inches, Android TV and no fancy Hi Res speakers. The only thing that the x850c doesn't do well is trail ghosting on anything associated with whites. You will always see any fast moving colored or black object transitioning to white smear its previous color creating that ghost trail effect.Samsung and Sharps are better in this category. My 2011 Sharp Aquos was better at that but worse with motion blur and everything else. This Sony is the best with motion blur everything looks great without the dreaded SOAP OPERA effect you get from lesser processors but thats all thanks to SONY X1 processor. Sports look almost plasma like great detail even in fast moving scenes. Plasmas although discontinued are still best at fast moving images and sports but difference is minimal. Colors are amazing deep and enhanced with Triluminos you can adjust to make accurate colors or leave setting as is to enjoy those rich OLED like colors I've always wanted. I don't care if that's not accurate perception of what director intended. If it was up to director we'd probably still be using only film in monochrome and even wider screen than we use today. The best looking movies picture quality are digital captured ones like James Cameron Avatar or Christopher Nolan "action scenes" in the Dark Knight Trilogy. I'm over film based movies with all their grain it just distorts what these new awesome tvs are capable of. House of Cards is another example of what good picture quality can be achieved if you lose the anamorphic wide screen and film based disaster. That doesn't let us take advantage of every pixel on screen. Now that I'm done ranting if you are paying this much money for a tv to look like what director intended based on DVD rec.709 save yourself the money and buy a regular 1080p non led and have it professionally calibrated. Me I'm looking to the future where colors pop and visuals look beyond real. If I want to go look at real I will just go hiking and enjoy that instead. A tv is for entertainment so use it for that and indulge a little. Sound is ok at best but honestly if you are forking over this much for visual you should have a dedicated sound system. I've got a 7.1 surround system but in the process of upgrading this week to the new Elite SC-97 Dolby Atmos and DTS:X compatible receiver, a surround set of Pioneer Elite Atmos speakers and 2 SVS SB 2000 subs. I only visit theater once or twice a year this will ensure it stays that way for the next 10 years. Android tv is huge pro with lots of apps and more to come through continuous updates. It does freeze once in a while needing a reset but it's easy just hold power button down for 5 seconds and voila it restarts the whole system. Please turn off 4k reality creation, noise reduction and the other setting in clarity tab off. They only create anomalies and more smearing effect so sports look blurred with those settings on. Less is more in this case. You will see digital artifacts and compression blocks with these settings off but I will also looks clearer with fast moving images. I've only used with streaming, blu ray, ps4, xbox one, wii u and over the air rabbit ears so I can't speak for over compressed cable and satellite images. Keep in mind this tv is huge and at this high resolution your source material won't be forgiven. It has a great upscaler but it won't do miracles either so don't expect 720p images to look high Def because they wont. They look ok at best 1080i or 1080p source material is best. All in all I love the tv and my tipping point was when the Magnolia sales rep offered to throw in free HT-CT380 soundbar system ($349.99 msrp) that was the $300 I was overpaying in my mind. Gave it to the GF to go with her 55" 4k LG. I am a happy customer so far and I can't complain the unit is well built and light bleeding very uniform back lighting something Sharp was always terrible with both units I owned. I didn't go Samsung because my experience is their quality control on tvs is pretty bad. Besides their curved gimmicks doesn't do it for me.

First off, this is a long review, so I will put the summary at the top. The positives: -the picture is awesome! -the sound is great! -the standard remote has everything I need -up converting beats the pants off Samsung! The could be better: -system menu navigation -no USB 3.0 The ok: -Android operating system I am amazed at how great this picture looks, for everything! I've been a plasma guy for years with my last plasma being a top of the line 60" 1080p LG. I never understood how people could settle for an lcd or led. Sure, there's less glare but the blurring you get watching sports or anything fast makes lcd's not so great on bigger tv's. And plasma had better colors too! (I still have 3 plasma LG'S and still like them) The other nice thing about the picture settings is that once I got it set to my preferred style, I haven't had to change it. Now, I originally bought Samsung's 75" 4k tv. It was an open box, top of the line, 2014 model. I really liked the picture, but the up convert from a reduced quality HD signal from the cable company looked terrible. It especially had trouble giving you details from darker or shaded black colors. It also had the same problem with the whites. It wouldn't have been enough to make me return it, but it was annoying at times. It even had problems with the darks and lights with a blu ray disc. I had to change picture settings quite often when going to a different input source. The Samsung ended having a problem with the back light on one side towards the bottom. After screwing around with Samsung's warranty "service" for 3 1/2 weeks, I got fed up and returned it to best buy and ordered the Sony. The upscaling with the Sony is superb! Even with a reduced quality HD signal from some cable channels, I don't even notice it! The colors and clarity are just top notch. With a 75" screen, you do tend to notice everything. No, the upscaling isn't perfect, but it does make it better than what my 60" plasma or the 75" Samsung could do! The sound is really nice too! Typical of what you'd expect from Sony. I do have an Onkyo 7.1 surround sound system, but I prefer not to use it for casual tv viewing, so it is a nice feature to have good sound on the tv itself. It didn't take me long to set it to my preferred settings and I haven't changed it since. The Samsung did have a USB 3.0 port which is good for connecting a portable hard drive to. They're fast and can handle 4k content. The Sony only has USB 2.0 which can only handle 1080p content. So, you might want to consider a 4k media player with a hdmi out port and it's own hard drive. If you don't have media on a portable hdd, then this probably isn't an issue for you. The Android system does handle my 2 TB portable hdd, but it does fail to connect properly at times. You just have to go slow and it will eventually work. Once you do get the video to play, it doesn't fault. Sony's system menu navigation is a bit off the mark too. I will admit that the Samsung's system menu was near perfect. But since the Sony's picture and sound are so good, I don't have to navigate the system menu very often. And with Sony's available shortcuts on the remote combined with the fact you can order the inputs any way you'd like makes it a non issue. Sony's "home" screen is the Android system style. It's pretty good but not great. Samsung's used to be ok, but their last update made it horrible (I had the Samsung for 4 weeks and got one update in that time. I did not like it). There seem to be alot of complaints against all brands for their smart tv menus. You can do some customizing with Android so it's a non issue for me. Plus, you can program the "tv" button on the remote to immediately go to whatever input you want "tv" to mean (whether it's an antenna or any other input except usb). There's no back light for the standard remote either. Samsung did have this and it's nice. The Samsung also had a better IR blaster for your cable box, but once again, I don't really need it with the Sony as I can just use the cable company's remote. (Or buy a fancy Logitech remote). The blue tooth swipe remote is kind of worthless. Samsung had that better too, but once again, it wasn't good enough to get rid of the rest of your remotes, so I don't care. You either need to get the right Logitech remote to control all your stuff or have several remotes laying around. Neither Sony or Samsung can do that for you. You can also stream ps3 games now using a wireless ps4 controller. It's to expensive to pay for monthly service, but I could see renting a game here and there for a couple days or a week. I used it for the free trial week and it worked just fine. In the end, I am extremely happy with this Sony's picture and sound. Once i get the 4k media player, i will have zero complaints (i have alot of media on portable hard drives). I would buy another one for the living room if I could afford it. Well, I guess I have one complaint: when I'm watching true full HD or 4k movies, I often find the picture so amazing that I forget to pay attention to the actual movie! I'm not kidding either.

Read all reviews, was thinking for a while, compared with Samsung and other brands, It is not cheap TV, but, not as much as expensive as Samsung for example, but, I say, when we compared Samsung VS Sony, Samsung was overblown on steroids picture wise, tooooo much of colors, to much of brightness...simply too much! Eyes were tired even to watch it in the store, so, we asked to put side by side Sony and Samsung, to put same demo on both screens, guess what...:) Sony is BY FAR more natural, more soft and same time bright TV, Just like looking into the window, all nice, natural colors, no enhancements or sub colors, we loved it! Don't forget download upgrades first when you turn it on. If you leave it overnight for upgrades, please unplug it and plug it back in in the morning, cuz stand by screen dimmer will be on, will need to reset the whole TV. 3D is mind blowing!, no need to go to movie, well, besides to watch new stuff, Samsung ACTIVE glasses are work very well with Sony, just need to pare it! You will love your Sony! No glitches, all is simple. 2 remotes. Very simple to navigate! I say to round it up. Get Sony! Well established brand, very own technology, good quality. Sorry for too much info but cant really rate it in few words. this tv deserve much more. Don't forget to set up a delivery for it. You will need a pickup truck, will not fit in SUV. Keep it up right. TV is not heavy at all, but bulky.

I did a ton of research for a new 75 inch TV for our home theater needs. The price for what you get on this unit is hard to beat! We are using it for primarily watching Blue-ray movies, 3D movies and occasional streaming. We will also use it for viewing football at times, but not for daily regular programming from cable/satellite. The image quality for 3D and Blue-ray has been stunningly beautiful! I don't see any motion issues while watching live football broadcasts. The image quality for sports does not seem to be as good as our plasma, but it really comes down to the fact that this 4K HDTV (like most others) will display as good as any incoming signal will provide. The better the signal (Blue-ray, Active 3D, HD streaming, etc) the better the picture. If the incoming signal isn't great, then the TV will attempt to upscale the image, but that up-scaling to 4K HD won't look as good as an old HD plasma on the same signal. I downloaded the latest firmware when we installed it. Within the first hour after connecting all the external items (Blue-Ray player, Satellite Receiver, and Home Theater Receiver), the TV would not present any image from any source. The menu still displayed, and we could hear the audio from whatever source we attempted (DVD, satellite, Internet stream, etc), but no video. We called Sony Support, and they had us hold down the power button on the remote to "reboot" the TV. This cleared up everything, and we haven't had any issues since. It's good to know that you may need to "reboot" these if they get flaky like that. Just turning it off and on may not do it, so I hope that helps if anyone else has the same issue. This is an excellent TV for the price! It will certainly bridge us for the next few years until OLED is more mainstream.

Gorgeous TV with an incredible picture. That being said, Illumination is somewhat uneven when viewing a solid gray screen. In real world use, picture is pretty much flawless. 4K content looks phenomenal, 1080p upscales well, SD looks terrible. Really terrible. Main remote is awkward to use, especially the center selection concentric buttons. The touch sensitive remote is all but worthless. Sound is adequate, but no one should expect good sound from an ultra slim TV. Screen reflections are fairly well-controlled
