    Best tv for the money

I was looking for a top rated 75 inch TV for my large living room. At that size, good options are limited unless you are willing to spend an arm and a leg. This was the best value to performance buy in my opinion. You have full array backlight with local dimming and plenty of brightness to properly give you great HDR content viewing experience. I originally purchased the Samsung mu8000 but but was not satisfied with the picture quality especially with HDR content. I exchanged it for this tv and now I am fully satisfied and highly recommend for others to purchase. The only other TVs that I rate higher at this size are the Samsung Qled and Sony 940 but prices on those are much more and in my opinion not worth the extra money.

The sale price on the Sony XBR75x900E provided good bang for the buck. Especially when purchased at the marked-down price during the Black Friday sales period. The picture quality of the 900E is excellent. I won't go into any details here. I would much rather refer you to the plethora of reviews that have already been written about this model TV. The 900E is a major part of my HTPC system and is used mostly for viewing movies and Internet content. I don't need or want it connected directly to the Internet. The HTPC computer suffices for that. So my only major complaint is that the TV needs to be connected directly to the Internet for the TV Guide to function. Another complaint is with the remote control. The buttons make an annoying click sound when pressed. A minor complaint. Other than that, I'm full satisfied with this product.

I researched for months before purchasing this tv. I stayed away from the newer OLED tv's due to possible burn-in. My son will sometimes play video games for many hours straight, so this wasn't a risk I was willing to take. This Sony has a fantastic picture for my 4k capable Xbox One X, and I have zero problems with image retention or burn-in. The black levels are as good as I've seen on any LCD based tv. The brightness levels are incredible as well, so 4K HDR looks awesome. Upscaling of my Directv looks great too, especially for sports. I highly recommend this tv.

I have not stepped up to this class of TV in the past. During the Holiday sales we decided that we wanted to get a 75inch. Because of my lack of experience I went my normal route of not buying the total knock off, but getting the midrange TV cause they basically all look the same right? I still stand by that statement when it comes to 55 inch and under. The disparities in quality are not that pronounced with a 55 inch TV but when you step up to a big boy they are quite obvious. I bough a LG (decent brand right?). Yes, it was not the QLED, but I didn’t want to pay that much. It was such a terrible picture. Dull, dim, terrible with motion (blurry action for football), and just a flat out dud. My wife who doesn’t pick up on things like this even thought th picture just didn’t look right. I played with all the settings. I even went online to look at forums for help and there actually was allot of help with that but even at its optimal settings things just weren’t up to par. That TV was $1500, I decided I would step up to the Sony 850 which was on sale for $2000. After comparing the 850 and the 900 and being assisted by a very knowledgeable saleswoman (wish I remembered her name cause she was great) I decided wlyhat taking another leap up to the 900 was the right move. Yes, it cost AlLLOT more. Especially compared to the LG for $1500. It was $2800 and worth every penny. I’m so glad I decided to take back the other and even happier I went with the full array backlighting of LEDs. Makes such a big difference with the darks and is just flat out awesome. Everything pops, there is no blurriness with even the fastest of running backs!! This TV rocks and I highly recommend it. If your on the fecnce like I was take the plunge. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!! There is even a LIVE FOOTBALL setting that makes things pop even more by the way. It’s like they made this TV for ME!!

I have been a Samsung fan for ages. My first tv with my own money was a Samsung 26 inch LCD back in 2006 (also bought from BB). I have since bought or help family and friends buy about 10 different TVs and they have all been Samsungs. We have had a 65 inch for a while and it was time to upgrade to a 75 inch TV so I went to the local BB looking for the Samsung MU series. The sales person nudged me to the XBR-900 and I could tell the difference right on the shop floor. The blacks were way deeper and the picture just looked more accurate even though all TVs were turned to max everything for showroom settings. It was $200 more but the sales guy assured me that the difference in full LED back panel vs. side panels on the Samsung is well worth the price. Still not convinced, I came back home to do some research and every single source I found online declared the XBR-900 to be in a league above the Samsung MU 8000 and the best TV on the market in the price range. I pulled the trigger two days letter and it was delivered the next day. Setup was easy but needed help from my wife. Picture out of the box was good but not out of the world. We calibrated the settings for games and movies based on an online source and HOLY MOLY! The blacks are super blacks where I can’t tell sometimes in between scenes whether the TV is on or off and the color is just super natural. We feel it portrays the true colors that the content creators wanted to show. Gaming is mind blowing. I have played COD WW2 and Battlefield 1 on this. The most striking scenes are the fighter pilot levels in the mountains in BF1. I could not believe how amazing it looks. It just can’t be described. 4K HDR is stunning! I was afraid of the Google androidtv lag that some of folks have mentioned but after two months of use we have not experienced any lag. This TV has converted us to Sonys after 12 years. There is nothing wrong with Samsungs and we still enjoy our other TVs but this is definitely a class up! 5 stars!

First, the picture quality is excellent, IF viewing straight on. Off-angle viewing, as others have described, is a little disappointing but is inherent to this type of screen tech. But that is a relatively minor gripe given how well this tv performs. Colors, contrast, black level etc are great. User interface is good and most apps work well. I actually like the remote, but would have been nice if it was backlit to make it easier to find buttons in dark viewing environment. Sound was not too bad either for how small speakers are, but you'll definitely want to use external speakers for tv this size. Overall would highly recommend to those looking for a beautiful, easy to use, top notch tv in this price range. Just wish the picture quality would hold up to off-angle viewing a little better.

I spent a lot of time reviewing this TV and waiting for the lowest price I think I could get at a local business. If I'd waited until the after Xmas football sale I would have saved an extra $300,but the amazing picture made me happy I got it a month before. I still got the best price ANYWHERE at the time. Best buy has really stepped up their pricing game and matched any internet sales without even doing a price match. Now to the TV....amazing picture with blacks so black they match the black bars of wide-screen videos and the frame of the TV. I'm constantly wowed by how deep the blacks are and how bright and beautiful the picture is. HDR is definitely worth the hype and so is a back lit screen. Paying the extra cost over a side lit screen was well worth the money. Lots of reviews mentioned that the side angle views weren't the best, but they seemed great both in the store and in my living room. I use a home theater system, so I can't review the sound of the TV other than it works, and I'm not a gamer so I can't review how a gaming system works with the TV. Now to the not so great, Sony used a cheap processor and minimal RAM in their Android TV setup. I bought a Shield Android TV to use instead, but Sony's version isn't so bad that it's unusable so I returned the Shield Android TV box. It's just very disappointing that Sony couldn't have beefed up the memory and processor since the price of this set was so expensive. Other than that the TV really is amazing. I'd recommend this TV to anyone who didn't want to spend five grand plus on a set.

I researched this model and numerous others before making this purchase. I love this TV! It costs thousands less than other Sony 4Ks advertised as "higher end" than the 900E. I replaced a Sony XBR 65X930D with this model. I looked at the XBR65X930E and this set literally blew the 930E's picture outa the water. The 930E is an edge lit model and Sony is crowing about the "slim back light drive plus". I found upon further research that the difference between the 930D and 930E is the edge LEDs are top and bottom on the E model instead of the side edge on the D model, and the number of LEDs were doubled. One major problem. It's STILL an edge lit 4K. The edge lits all struggle to accurately fill the area without the LEDs. The 900E is a full array with local dimming, which produces a far superior picture. But the 930E is still considered a higher end model. In my educated opinion, there isn't an edge lit model that can produce the picture depth and clarity of a full array, local dimming 4K. The 900E is available in a 75 inch model (the size I purchased) and the 930E max size is 65 inches. If you are seated more than 6 or 7 feet from the set, you won't see the difference between a 1080 picture and a 4K with a 65 inch screen. One other important point. When HDR becomes available, your TV needs a minimum of 800 nits to utilize HDR. The OLEDs that the 4K pundits are going ga ga over are reaching about 750 nits max. This set reaches about 1100 nits. But don't take my word for all this. Go to the Magnolia section and look for yourself. Definitely do your own research. I found the new full array LEDs are reaching black levels on their screens that are on par with OLED, and LEDs don't suffer from "image retention" and a monster price tag. If you've got a couple grand you want to "throw to the wind", then by all means buy a 930E or OLED. Otherwise buy this TV. You won't be disappointed.

In the showroom, the TV was stunning and compared favorably with higher end Sony products and even OLED TV's Geed Squad did a great job on the installation and left the site with all cabling neatly tidied up and very clean. Great job, guys. The TV itself is stunning. Colors are magnificent and the Android TV UI works very well. Our first viewing was 4K HDR "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" and we were blown away by the crispness of the imagery with brights beyond what we would have expected or saw in the store, deep blacks and richness of color and detail that was simply "wow." The TV is using a Pioneer Elite receive with Near LCR, Klipsch surrounds, Snell THX sub with Marantz mono-block sub amplifier. Control is via Control4 over wired Ethernet and the Control4 integration is flawless. Netflix, HBO, VUDU, and other streaming services performed as well or better than other smart CE devices in the installation.

I was looking for a TV that had excellent brightness, contrast, and blackness level that would be easily visible within bright ambient daylight and in a lowlight setting in my home theater within the Sony brand line, as in my mind nobody makes a better tv then Sony!! We could have settled for cheaper Model but im so glad i didnt!! Glad i saved the money also on a OLED set!! This picture is just awsome...This TV does such a good job of upscaling that we can barely tell sometimes between full HD and 4k streaming content over Netflix, Amazon etc etc...I cant comment on sound as my runs through a hometheater setup... The Android TV interface gives many options for streaming from various providers or mirrorcasting direct to your screen from moble or laptop device..But the only real knock i have on the set so far after a few months, is it is not freindly with the Apple product line...You can buy aftermarket devices to plug in for use, but should u have too at this price point?

The picture is beautiful! The details pop, and your favorite well-mastered film will reveal new details in the background, particularly in darker areas. Blacks are true black, allowing the brightness to be higher without washing out shadow details. Multi-color gradients, like subtle differences in skin tone or areas of sky are well represented, and the array lighting helps prevent bloom around bright areas.

I reviewed and shopped a numer of 75” 4K HDR tv’s. The Sony 900E kept coming up in different tv review articles as one of the best in our price range. Went to Best Buy and viewed it in person along with some of the other brands mentioned. The picture is amazing, and this Sony did look better to me than the Samsung. After having it for a few weeks now, we love it. I only gave it 4 stars because the operating system is a little awkward to navigate but I knew that previously from my research. But this doesn’t diminish the unbelievable picture and you get used to it. Very happy with this Sony.

I first bought the Sony 850D to replace my Pioneer Kuro Plasma, but was not happy with the black levels and couldn't get the color adjusted to my satisfaction. I traded out the 850D for the 900E and really think the added cost was worth it. The 900E colors just pop with great blacks overall exceptional picture. The implementation of HDR on the 900 is also vastly improved over the 850D. The TV does a fantastic job upconverting 720p, 1080i, and 1080p all look great. Even 480p YouTube look acceptable. The only minor downside might be the off angle viewing is not as good as my plasma (plasma are the best here), but in my application, it doesn't matter. The picture gets a bit lighters as you move off to the side, but only drops slightly and doesn't get worse the further off center you go.

We upgraded fro a Sony 55 1080p and this was a much needed move. Operation with PS4 pro, Sony 4K UHD Blu-ray player, and Bose 300 is smooth. Haven’t run into any setup issues with much improved menus. Th default setup procedure is straightforward, just make sure you have the necessary network cables and HDMI cables. The HDR itself is worth the upgrade even if you’re not watching 4K.

I did a lot of research before buying this tv and what a great choice. Picture is excellent and sound quality in great. This is by far not the most expensive TV one can buy; however, it's far from the cheapest and worth every penny. To anyone who can afford it, this TV is a great find. Hello, we had originally purchased 75” 850E. It was also a nice tv, price was great as well but I would notice a tiny difference in color/ brightness, like a light coming from the bottom half of screen when watching soccer.. I think because it being edge lit the light would come from there, not sure.. not really too noticeable but I noticed it & it would be on my mind. So I kept reading great reviews on the 900e & how full array would make a difference.. & I can say we are really happy & thankful we were able to upgrade! Took us a while to figure out the picture settings we were happiest with but I think we got it now & we are very happy with this television! Awesome tv!! We love it.
