Great TV - So Glad I Bought It

I had been looking for a mid-grade 75" TV for several months, and this Sony was not one of the TVs I was originally considering. Based on rtings.com, it had a much lower rating than similarly priced TVs from Samsung, LG, and TCL. However, the rtings.com review was based on the 65" model, which has an IPS panel. The 75" model has a VA panel. The rtings.com website rated this Sony highly in every category except contrast and deep blacks. However, this is what the VA panel excels at. So when the Sony went on sale, I took advantage of the extra savings and purchased it. The TV was well-packaged and easy to remove from the box. I hung the TV on the wall, and like other TVs, it's best to hook up all your cables in advance of hanging. The TV itself should be hung with two people--one on each side. My wife and I had it up on the wall in just a few minutes. I'll also say that the Best Buy delivery and haul-away experience was fantastic. Setup of the TV was pretty straightforward, although the antenna programming took a little longer than expected. Total setup time was well under 30 minutes. The default settings for the picture are very good, although I felt the color saturation was a little too much. However, there is a great array of picture settings to adjust the picture to your liking--everyone is different, and the lighting environment your TV is in is different. I think the Cinema Pro setting is the best for my viewing habits. One thing I like about the Sony is that the picture settings can be set for each input. So if you prefer one setting for Blu-Rays and another setting for your CableTV, they are set separately and maintained separately. Very good! Most of my viewing is streaming TV from FuboTV and Blu-Ray movies. The shows I watch on FuboTV also include older programs from the 1980s and prior, like Hart to Hart, Cagney & Lacey, The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, you get the idea. The upscaling done by this TV is very appropriate for these shows--they look good even on the really large screen. The rtings.com review also mentioned that Sony does an outstanding job of upscaling. Modern 1080p programming from FuboTV looks great. The "soap opera effect" motion handling on the Sony is not as annoying as on other brands. You can tell there is motion handling going on, but it's quite well done. I still don't like it, so I turned it off because there are some scenes I feel are ruined by motion handling. Now let's talk about the picture on Blu-Rays and 4K. I watched "Skyfall" on the TV as my first movie on Blu-Ray, and all I can say is WOW. The blacks were very deep, the contrast was great, and the overall picture was phenomenal. Thank yuo VA panel! This was not a 4K Blu-Ray either, it was a standard Blu-Ray disc and player. I watched the SuperBowl in 4K on FuboTV and was completely blown away. The picture was so rich with great color accuracy and depth. Even with the 60Hz refresh rate, which some will say is inferior for sports and gaming, I saw no evidence of shadowing of pixellation with action movies or sports. I do not play games on this TV. The speakers on the TV are very appropriate. I play the TV mostly at about a level 20, and the TV gets quite loud at levels above 40. The scale goes up to 100. I also find that the TV is very viewable from angles as wide as 45 degrees from straight on. VA panels are usually not as good with this as IPS panels, but I did not notice a ton of color or picture accuracy loss with this VA panel. Just a few other notes. The TV powers up very fast, and the remote is quite responsive. I have not used the AndroidTV features too much, and I haven't downloaded any apps. I use an Amazon Fire TV box, which runs on Android, and it interfaces well with the TV. I also use a Chromecast to stream movies from my tablet. It is flawless. Overall, I think for the money, the Sony was a great choice, especially knowing the 75" model has the superior VA panel. Very highly recommended if you're on the fence between this and other brands.

    Great BIG TV

IF you take some time to adjust it properly, the picture is so good, it is like the people are in your living room. It is like being on the field at a football game, if not better, since you can see more. The sound is quite good right out of the box, with no other sound equipment needed. Higher sound than this TV can produce will produce hearing damage, unless used in a big, or loud commercial building. You need to customize the picture settings, and use the 'cool' color temperature to get the most accurate color during a live broadcast. Go into 'advanced settings' and max out the contrast, and nearly max out the brightness. Turn the light sensor off. Set the 'clarity' near maximum sharpness. I let the gamma setting alone. Note that there are 2 lines of round adjustment things around the center button on the remote control. The ones closest to the center button are easy to overlook at first, since there are no letters on them. I was able to mount it myself on a TV stand, sitting on top of a glass TV stand, by using 2 ladders, with a 10 foot long 2X6 sitting on top of each ladder. This TV was too wide to fit on my glass TV stand using the feet that come with it, so I had to mount it on a separate TV stand which sits on the top glass shelf of the old TV stand. I couldn't get another stand because I have 2 more 55 inch TVs, one on each side of this 75 inch one, and all the 3 stands match. I lifted each end of the TV into 2 straps wrapped around the board to support the TV. Then I went from side to side, gradually lifting the TV, and tightening the straps which have locks on them. Once I got the TV high enough to get the screws through the stand into the back of the TV, I just lined up the holes and tightened the 4 screws into the back of the TV. Snug the little screws, but don't try to break them off in the TV because you can do it, if you tighten them too much. The 4 screws which came in the holes on the back of the TV worked fine for me. Be careful trying to use longer screws, or longer bolts with the same threads. All you need is about 3 threads going inside the metal holes in the TV. It only weigh 67 pounds, not 167. Put too long a screw into the TV, and it will hit the inside & damage or destroy the TV. I would not put any type of thread locker on the mounting screws. If tightened properly, they should never come loose. I used straps & 2, six foot ladders instead of a volunteer, because one person can't hold the TV up, while another puts the screws in. And I had a 10 foot long 2X6 in the garage. I got the second ladder from my sister. Without the straps, you will need a total of three people to mount the TV on a stand. A person on each end and another person to put in the screws. You don't want to have it slip, and possibly damage the screen. It isn't heavy, but it is BIG and fragile.

At first I suffered from what most consumers do. Which is wanting the next best thing, because the newest tv model sitting next to the one you can actually afford looks just a little better. So after reading several reviews I decided to take a chance with this one. Once you get it home and stop comparing it to others. It’s absolutely beautiful, the picture is crisp and clear. In the store the Sony’s always looked better than all the other brands of tvs in my opinion. Better color and very nice looking dark scenes. I definitely recommend this tv to anyone.

Compared this TV with others side by side in store. Considerably less motion blur than others in the same price range. I don't have any complaints about black levels, but I placed it in a basement where I can view in dimly lit room, day or night. Have external speakers- the TV speakers don't do the picture justice. Was easy to mount on wall, menu navigation is easy. Good selection of smart options. HDMI ARC works flawlessly with my Sony receiver. It's programmable into Harmony remote and easy to customize. Overall, great product.

I'm a gamer. I was looking for a 75 inch TV that had average performance and didn't break the bank. It's a very good quality display for Sony's entry-level luxury lineup of TVs. X800G lineup is mostly IPS displays. For some reason, 75 inch X800G is a VA display, which got my attention for better contrast and even lower risk on burn-in images. Input lag is average performance. If you're a professional gamer, you might want to go for something else. I'm a average gamer at best and put some decent hours. I didn't notice any lag on my end. The colors and saturation are really good for the price. Of course, if you compare this display to higher-end Sony TVs, you'll see the difference. The huge difference-maker on purchasing this TV is the input options available. The amount USB, HDMI, and component inputs are a huge seller for me. For what you get at the $1,399.99, this is a really good TV and wouldn't pass this up!

Sony has always been my favorite for TVs and this 75 inch did not disappoint. Great picture, no glare. Only con is 60 mg refresh rate which is noticeable on some shows but not in sports. Great superbowl price and just a step down from OLED.

Was looking at the X900 in a 65” but we decided to move up to 75”. This is an awesome TV, especially considering the price point! We’ve only had it a few weeks but no problems so far. Set up was easy and once it connected to the Wi-Fi it performed a firmware update and was ready to go. The volume level and sound quality is great. We’ll be good for a while without a sound bar. We’ve been streaming using the TV”s on board apps and haven’t had any issues. Will probably break down and put an Xbox One X on it soon, can’t wait to see how awesome that’s gonna look. Football is incredible, no problems with fast action on the screen.

We are very pleased with our be Sony 75" UHD TV. Beautiful picture quality and easy to set up. We originally set out to buy an OLED TV but find out that our TV viewing room was too bright so we opted for the Sony UHD. It's important to remember that you must update your cable box to the latest in order to receive the highest quality signal and take advantage of the TV's capabilities.

Our new 75” Sony TV is working great. However, we purchased a new Harmony Elite remote also. Your techs ( Greek Squard) set it up for us. The Harmony Elite replaced 5 remotes. Using the new remote has been a problem for my wife and I. We’re seniors and my wife has a difficult time using the Elite visually. Switching from movies to regular TV gets complicated when you can’t see the control buttons on the remote. I tried to call Harmony and they wanted a service tech charge on the phone. Unless we can get a HOW-2 manual on using this new Harmony Elite, I think we’ll have to return it? Does anyone ever read these reviews?

We got this TV during the black Friday sale. It wasn't a door buster deal, but still discounted nicely. We ordered online and picked up in-store a few hours later. Having a separate area in store for on-line pick-up worked out great; we were able to avoid the lengthy register lines. The pick-up around the back of the store, I didn't feel was as seamless as it could have been. The TV itself is outstanding. We have had it about 3 weeks now and have only scratched the surface of the options it has. The viewing angle is terrific from both sides of the living room. The colors are great in both evening watching and during the daylight. Out of the box setup was simple and easy.

Ive only owned the television for a few weeks, and for the price, it's absolutely wonderful. Only reason it has four stars from me so far is I havent had the time to really unleash its potential. Thus far, it's working great, a Netflix movie I watched looked AMAZING, although I have the tv hooked into an ARC channel on a suuround sound receiver, and initially I had no sound SOLELY on the movie (although I had it in the menus....but one quick change in the easy to navigate menu fixed that). Listed at 2160p, Im not sure Ive let that rip, but it may just be a matter of what live tv is offered. Still, at its price, for a 75 inch Sony..............Do it. Convince your wife it was the right decision after.

We couldn't be more please with our decision to go with the brand name like SONY. We have previously own Samsung, LG, and other brands. Then we tumble on this TV and we couldn't be more happy about it. The picture clarity is out of the world. We were skeptical when reading some review about the sound. We found the sound is loud enough for our home and doesn't need the soundbar or theater system like our LG. Ease to set up without the pro. In fact we are so please we went back and bought another one for our bedroom upgrade from 55 LED Samsung.

Don’t waste your time with other leading tv brands in the market. Sony TVs have superior build quality, performance and reliability. I bought my first Sony TV 18 years ago. Since then I’ve owned a total of 4(36”,46”,60” and 75”). Never had a problem with any of them! With that said, Sony has continued to impress me with each new iteration. My 2014 60” Sony Bravia smart tv is no slouch, but the Sony XBR75X800G2019 75” Bravia Smart 4K UHD TV with HDR has taken it to a whole new level. The reason for the * is that we the customers are collateral damage for the HDR Format War between HDR10 and Dolby Vision. Both technologies have been around for a few years now and both should be a standard feature on all 2019 model Sony TV’s. Just disappointed with Sony. If you guys want both HDR formats you have to pay $500 more for the next series up the X850G. And don’t forget a compatible receiver and 4K UHD Blu Ray player. All in all I recommend the Sony XBR75X800G! And Go Best Buy for always delivering excellent service!
