I bought this TV at a Magnolia store since they sell the higher end products. I went with the Bravia based on reputation. The picture is bright and clear. The setting for dialing in the colors are advanced and can be dialed in about 90% without any calibration. This TV has Google voice enabled and I have seen times when watching TV programs that the Google Assistant detects something and asks you to repeat when you didn't ever say anything. I don't use this option so I was able to disable it. The reason I rated this a 3 is due to some dimming in the corners. If you are aware of the phrase, vignette, that is what it looks like. For most people, they may not notice but if you are a videophile, it will probably bug you. I contacted Sony, took a video and some pictures, and they determined that the set is operating at the normal parameters. Basically, they are aware that there is slight dimming in the corners. I am quite disappointed in this since I see many other sets, many not as high-end as the Bravia that do not have this issue. If the dimming will bother you, I would suggest you look at another brand.

I absolutely love the Sony Bravia models, I haven't bought the entry level models available, I usually buy top tier or near it. But, I have a smaller one in the Bedroom, a 65 in the Man Cave, a 75 downstairs and a 88 for the main room. I've had 4k players (not) from Sony that didn't like, but the Sony Blu-ray players have paired up perfectly with the tv's. I would buy no other tv than the Sony Bravia models.

The TV was really good until i did a comparison side by side with my older 900E. In SDR /Cable TV/Yuotube content ,since native contrast ratio is really low, it started showing where images does not pop or looks a bit washed out. This is more evident in lower resolution like 720p or 1080p.On HDR mode this TV shines out due to higher peak brightness .Also i dint see much upscaling for low resolution content.Attaching side by side ,out of the box standard mode with my 2017 X900E model on left and X950H model on right. Also to note my older model is 55 inch and new 950H is 75 inch. However it should not cause a difference in image pop or skin tones.

    What I needed

So here is the deal, does oled have a better picture? Yes, it does. The problem for me was, I sit 14 feet away from my television. I needed a 75 inch tv. When you compare picture with price in mind, there is absolutely no reason I would need to spend double the money for a 77 inch oled. I got the 950h on sale for 2799, so oled is double the cost. I promise you the picture is not that much better. 4k HDR on this tv is phenomenal. We all know sony has best in class upscaling and motion. Sony made improvements with color on this set and also tweaked the x-wide angle technology so it doesnt hurt black levels as much as the 950g or z9f; which is why I'd recommend this tv over those models. The only other thing people are freaking out about is lack of hdmi 2.1 and I'm here to tell you that is a gimmick. If you are a console player the most you will need for years to come is 4k at 60fps which this tv does. Dont get caught up in the hype of 2.1.

Hi Tman, thank you for purchasing our Sony X950H Ultra HD Smart TV. We are happy to hear you are enjoying the picture quality of the X950H 4K HDR TV. We always strive to deliver the best picture quality with our TVs. There is much confusion about the HDMI versions and concerns about compatibility. For this reason, we do not promote the HDMI versions incorporated on many of our products. Instead, we advertise the features of a product that are associated with a particular HDMI version. For X950H, the TV will support up to 18 Gbps transfer rate to support 4K HDR and Enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC).

    Open-box: horrible quality

This is a review about my experience with the open-box. 1 star for Sony, 0 for Bestbuy open-box inspection. The online description only shows non-essential accessories missing. However, both the remote and the stand are missing. Without a remote the TV cannot be operated at all. How can the TV stand and remote be non-essential?? At least it should be clearly noted. The stand from Sony is $260+tax, the remote is $80+tax. Basically you are looking at adding close to $400 to the price for a used TV with >4500 hour screen time.. Well a new one only costs $600 more when discounted. The TV condition is terrible horrible: extremely dirty and cloudy, easily visible in movies, football, and ANY games. Though, the dirty screen effect is hard to capture on a phone. The screen also comes with dead pixels at the very center. I would count them as 5-6 dead pixels. (count the number of red or green subpixels) I drove 2 hours to pick-up this guy. Turned out to be a big disappointment. Returning a 75' TV would be a another big hassle. I'd love this TV if it was in the right condition. Sony made a great TV, as already reviewed by other costumers. I'd blame Bestbuy for quality control/inspection and fake online description.

I wanted an LED set with great upscaling and motion handling (to watch shows and sports on cable), great video processing for all sources, for use in a bright room, and with reliable reviews from others. After MUCH research I went with the x950H and am so glad that I did. Sony is known for their video processing (including upscaling) and color accuracy. No need to professionally calibrate this set. It looks great on Cinema setting with a few tweaks. Sports and other fast moving content look great. Streaming 4K HDR source are amazing. It was between this and the x900H but after comparing them side by side and reading about the many more issues with the x900H (banding due to lack of gradient smoothing features and motion settings reverting) I decided to go with what is most important to me, picture quality and content. The Android OS has just about every content app that is needed and the GUI is fairly snappy. I am also not using this TV for gaming so I was not concerned at all about the lack of HDMI 2.1 (the only advantage besides a lower price that the x900H has). Once in a while I lose wifi network connectivity and have to unplug or reset the TV. This has happened 2 or 3 times since owning the set. The lowest I have seen the 75" for is $2599 here at Best Buy during their 2-day sale going on during Amazon's Prime Days. I did get the delivery and set-up service from Best Buy because I had read about too many horror stories of cracked screens from deliveries that stop at the front door. Wasn't taking any chances with this purchase.

Hi Bb07, Thank you for purchasing and choosing our Sony X950H. We appreciate your feedback about the TV not having the access to Amazon Music and Twitter. Many of the existing apps from the Google Play store can be downloaded to Android TV. There are several hundred apps already available with a consistent flow of new apps being released for the Android TV platform.

And we regret to hear you're having an issue trying to connect to the Youtube app. Are you getting an error when you're trying to access it? In the meantime, I would recommend you to follow the troubleshooting steps below to resolve the issue:

-Make sure your TV is connected to the internet.
-Close the YouTube app, then re-open it and try again.
-Reset your modem/router by removing the power for about one minute, then turn it back on and wait until the connection is established, then try again.
-Make sure that the software version of the Youtube app and the TV is up to date.
-The issue may also be resolved by initializing the YouTube app.
On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
      Select Settings.
Under the TV category, select Apps.
      Select YouTube.
Select Clear data, and then OK.
Select Clear cache, and then OK.
      Select Force stop.
Open YouTube from the Home screen.

Pulled the trigger on a 75" for $2399. I have a background in professional photography so I did my own calibration. The color reproduction is outstanding, including flesh tones. Compared to the Panasonic ZT60, which is the best plasma ever made, this holds its own better than I expected. Black levels are not as deep yet excellent. Whites are brighter than the plasma. No motion lag. Using an 8k high end HDMI cable that does 4k at 120Hz. If you buy a 4k cable, most of them will do 4k at 60Hz. In dark scenes, light bleed is very minimal. On bright screens there is vignetting in the corners. Screen is not glossy. It is matte. Perfect for my application as the TV is mounted on the wall in a very bright living room with tons of natural light. No worry about burn in. Can leave on news channels, sports, watch old shows in 4:3 and not care about image retention like with the plasma. The way it is calibrated it has a cinematic picture that echoes the Panasonic yet the 4k and upscaling for SD shows make the picture in some movies or shows even more enjoyable. Overall, extremely pleased with the purchase. 6 months in with daily use, zero issues. Not using any of the Google nonsense apps not the wifi. Connected to a 4k AppleTV which runs off fiber internet. It's epic. Even the install guy, who has been doing installs for 10 years, was floored with the picture quality and zero motion lag. Still bought the BB extended warranty, as things can happen. If it breaks down, they come fix it and if they cannot they haul it away and bring a new one. Well worth it. This beats the oled which I would only buy if it was for a dedicated cinema room where the lighting is not an issue. Also killer look on the wall with the Sony mount. The oled does not give the same flush look from the side because of its bulky design on the lower part.

This is a great tv. The picture is extremely sharp and both sports and movies look great on it. The upscaling is no joke. Older movies look smooth and sharp and not pixelated at all. It was also very easy to set up with only one HDMI cable connecting it to our stereo receiver Xbox and Blu-ray player.

After reading the reviews and visiting several stores to see the TV in person, I purchased a 75" X950H to replace an eight year old Vizio LED TV that wouldn't turn on. From a technology standpoint, the TV is impressive with its X1 Ultimate Processor, Dolby Vision (which Samsung doesn't offer), and HDR. The operating system is great, and there are several options to tweak the picture to your liking (which isn't really needed out of the box). The TV makes all of our streaming sources look great, and the eARC feature works well with my existing AVR and AppleTV. Sony appears to have hit it out of the park with this TV!

WOW - What a quality TV from Sony! Love the deep blacks. This was last years flagship model.... but prefer this over the 2021 model, since it has a much needed feature that the newer ones don't have....."wide-angle viewing". The viewing angles on this model SURPASS the newer model viewing angles..... very important to our family, all watching TV together in the family room. Think about that. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS MODEL!!

This Sony x950h led tv replaced an old big screen box tv we had that we actually still thought had a decent picture. When we went to the store the sales rep explained all the TVs and we looked at several. He said the this tv wasn’t the latest tech but it was a great tv. It was definitely more expensive than the newer technology. Lol. But we really liked the picture. Plus I was probably looking for additional things out of the norm. I recently got optic neuritis and lost my vision in one eye. Got a small portion not all back. But I was looking for a tv that didn’t have a ton of glare/reflection if a light was on in the room. In addition I don’t see the same colors now so I wanted a tv that the colors were extra vibrant. This tv had the above and more. The salesman also said the newer technology hasn’t been perfected yet so if you watch the same things ex sports game it won’t get burned into the screen on this tv like the newer ones. It’s very easy to use, has a beautiful picture and we love it. I’m sure if you choose this tv you will love it as much as we do. It’s great.

I would recommend this to a friend
