I purchased the TV for sports & movies and I do not watch it everyday. To be disappointed I noticed GREEN corners just glowing during dark scenes of movies it looks like its glowing. I also have 1 sony 55" and 1 sony 65" both are awesome but the 85" huge disappointment.

Pros: Superb color accuracy. Excellent motion handling. Good image when viewed off axis from a side couch. Diffused reflections well. Cons: Terrible screen uniformity. Hideous blooming. Low native contrast due to x-wide angle technology. Unwatchable in a dark room. It looked like someone was shining a flashlight on the screen in any dark scene of a movie.

Friends, I have to caution you not to purchase this TV or any Sony TV at this moment. I currently have five in my household. In November Sony pushed out a firmware update that broke functionality to communicate with CEC devices (basically anything plugged in with HDMI). AppleTV, Blu-ray, PS, Xbox, etc. while you can stream content you cannot control the device or vice versa. Basic function such as powering off the TV won’t work. Even the Sony TV remote won’t reliably turn off the tv. I am forced to wait for the tv to auto shut off each day. There are plenty of people hopping mad about this. Just check the Sony Forums. It’s been six months without a formal acknowledgment from Sony or any hint of a fix. I must therefore warn you not to purchase this TV. I will be leaving this same post on the other four Sony TVs I purchased at Best Buy so you don’t think this is a false blast against Sony. I wish I had my money back and could return these five units and get something else that works.

Horrible TV. Applications do not always work. Volume sporadically goes up. Black stains on the top of the TV just a year shy of purchasing the TV, Sony is unwilling to work with the consumer. Sony engineers accuse you of damaging the TV. TV has no gaming devices connected and has never been moved. I will never purchase another SONY television. Very disappointed with Sony's customer service and their unwillingness to simply send a technician out. A $2500 investment TV should not show black stains after 1 year of use. SAMSUNG all the way. $2500 thrown away.

First let me say I don't post reviews until I have had a TV for at least a week. Gives me enough time to figure out most of the things I need to see and hear. Now if something happens 3 months down the line, I'm still covered and with millions of TVs being produced there can be some defects from time to time. I will state that my room viewing is a mix. Daytime a lot of light but at night especially watching movies, my room is pretty dark as I want that going to movies experience. Overall I'm VERY pleased with the TV. I have been a long Samsung customer, but returned my Q80 75in TV due to a very common audio sync issue when connecting to a sound bar and loss of details on dark scenes (like game of thrones). This may be part be to the anti glare coating on the screens. So buyers considering a Samsung this review hopefully helps in your purchase decision. Below are Pros and Cons Pros The TV has very good picture quality and 4K is awesome. Very easy to set up. You will need to calibrate it to your liking and I'm pretty close to nailing it down. I would say the picture is better than my previous Samsung MU8500 with even better 4K images, but not better than a Qled, Oled and the Sony 950. I feel the color and contrast at the store was very comparable to the 900, so I would rather get the 850 and save the $800 difference. In all honesty I didn't see all that much of a difference. The remote takes some getting used to, but once I played with it, I like it. More than likely it was just changing from Samsung to Sony. I have seen no flashlighting, image specs as other reviews stated. The blacks are decent and you can adjust these. Comparable to the MU8500, but you cant expect blacks like the Qleds and Oleds. TV is BIG !! I have not witnessed any flickering. My TV is mainly used for TV programming, streaming services (Netflex, Prime, etc) and sports. Sports can be a little tricky. NO motion issues at all ! On close up and mid range camera broadcast, crisp and colorful. On broadcast you get what you get no matter if you have a Oled, Qled or UHD. It is what is. But when the camera pans out the players can look pixelated. I've been tweaking this and its better, but not crisp. I don't recall this being a issue on my MU6500 65, but I also had the same issue on 75 Q80. maybe due to a bigger screen ? who knows. TV has decent viewing angles and not a lot of glare. Better then the MU8500, Q80 has less glare and better viewing angles compared to the x850g. The TV works perfectly with my Samsung Sound System and blur ray. So I have not experienced any compatibility issues. Just played a few 4K blu rays briefly and it looks great. Cons Not too much to state here. Blacks can be better. You can adjust these and not impact the image all that much and letterbox can get pretty dark. But you can set it too dark it will bleed into the image details. Contrast is good, but could use some work. Especially when a camera pans far out from the action in sports (football, basketball). Overall I'm VERY pleased with the TV. Its not Oled or Qled quality, but I would say its one of, if not the best 4K UHD LED tvs out there. With the size and price I feel its a awesome deal and TV. Just be prepared to tweak the picture some the first week or so to your liking. I cannot comment on video gaming as I don't have Xbox, PS4, etc.

If you're looking for a TV that will fit perfectly in your large living room, then I highly suggest this one. The picture quality is top-notch, and the Google TV runs like a dream without any issues. What sets this TV apart is how easy it is to operate, allowing you to quickly switch between channels and apps without frustration. Another great thing about this TV is the app store, which has all the apps you need to take your viewing experience to the next level. You can enjoy movies in 4k and beyond with your family, such as "A Bug's Life" and "Toy Story," which look absolutely stunning on this TV. The colors are rich and vibrant, and the details are so clear that it really draws in the kids. Gaming is also a great experience on this TV, and even though it's better to play in a dark room, the picture quality still shines through. The game menu is intuitive and easy to navigate, making it a breeze to find the game you want to play. One thing I really appreciate about this TV is the warranty that Best Buy offers. It covers burn-in, which is a common issue with other TVs, but I left this one on for almost two days straight and nothing happened. That's a real testament to the quality of this TV, and it's why I'm seriously considering buying another one soon. All in all, if you want a great TV that will provide you with an amazing viewing experience and won't cause any headaches, then I highly recommend this one.

    PERFECT TV

We upgraded from a 65" 1080P plasma TV we purchased in 2008. The TV still worked fine but we wanted to upgrade to 4K and a slightly larger TV. The X850G seemed like the perfect blend of resolution, screen size, processing power, and performance. We ordered on line and had it delivered on a Sunday. The Geek Squad delivery guys were VERY efficient and very professional. We did not hang the TV, we have a large TV stand, so we used the legs that came with the set. They work perfect. The TV is less than 100lbs, a 2 person lift but considering the size of the TV, it's very reasonable. The legs work fine, the TV is stable and sits nicely on our table. As for the TV itself, the setup process took about 30 minutes from the start of hooking up wires until we were up and running. We also have a SONY 4K disc player and a PS4 hooked into the TV, and run the sound through a stand alone surround sound receiver (optical cable connection). This is our first smart TV so maybe all of this is normal, but the SONY software suite works great. The TV recognized everything we hooked into it and pretty much sorted itself out. So, how is the TV itself? AWESOME. 4K is amazing. The picture color and clarity is astounding. The PS4 and disc player up convert to 4K, so even our Blu Rays look amazing. Streaming is easy via the TV apps, and the quality is amazing. Switching devices or apps is simple, and can be voice controlled from the remote (I don't use the feature much, but it works well). Bottom line, WELL worth the money we paid - this TV is like sitting in a movie theater. When combined with surround sound it's an awesome viewing experience - can't say enough good things about this TV.

I'm a Sony guy and this TV didn't dispoint, it was a toss up between the Sony 85 or LG 86. I went to the store to look at them both and clearly the Sony picture just looked so much better, brighter colors, good refresh rate and video games looks amazing... Only think I didn't like is Sony don't pack little extra goodies like they use to

Considered all alternatives. Did the research on reviews & spent time in the Store. This is my Third Sony TV Purchase. I have 65 inch 800 series, 55 inch 950F, and Now This 85inch. This purchase was best of all. I would highly recommend you use Geek Squad. They are professional, and will only make your installation quicker, and more satisfying. It is huge & covers literally half my living room wall. I think this is it for at least a few years. Extremely happy. No issues at all. I have owned it for over 6 weeks. My only regret is that I didn't do this sooner. Buy it, but buy it now, before it dissapears. The color , brightness, etc. can not be matched. Controls are simple and easy to use. Sony, the one and only (for me).

The Sony X850G is a good 4k TV with an IPS panel. It delivers decent overall picture quality, but has a very low contrast ratio and bad black uniformity, so it isn't a great choice for a dark room. Unfortunately, it also doesn't have a local dimming feature to help with black levels. On the bright side, this TV has great peak brightness and excellent reflection handling, so it should have no trouble overcoming glare in a bright room, and the image remains accurate when viewed at an angle. It's a great TV for gaming, as it has outstanding low input lag, the lowest of any recent Sony TV, and an excellent response time.

Sony 85" Class LED Has Great Action and Colors

This Sony 85" LED 4K TV is very good for action and light background and colors. When it comes to a dark/night time view, the blacks/grey sort of wash out. Also, I can not get the remote to bring up a "keyboard" when entering and information, ie., entering the password for wireless. Fortunately, I have a wireless keyboard connected via USB. If not for the 2 issues listed above, I would rate this TV excellent.

We're really happy with the TV! 1) If the channel doesn't broadcast at the higher level of definition, unfortunately the image is slightly fuzzy. But on Netflix or whatever channel or movie that has a high resolution, the viewing experienced is phenomenal!! 2) One other note is that you will need to research whether you can mount it on the wall, have a stand with a bracket that allows you to hang it on there, and if not, a wide and deep enough stand to have the TV rest on it safely. Three furnitute stores, Best Buy and Costco didn't have the right TV stand (we needed one where we could rest it on - wall-mounting wasn't an option for us) so we ended up buying a desk from Office Max to use as a make-shift stand. We haven't had tge desk built yet but the dimensions should easily accommodate out Tv's legs. In case you'd like to go the same route, the item is a Sauder brand Executive desk (sturdier than pressed board wood), and this number is on the cardboard box: 402159. 3) The TV legs do NOT swivel inwards so if the Salesperson thinks they do, that's not correct. We were told they would and that our 59" eide stand would be fine. It's not! Our desk is still in tge carton and not assembled so I can't tell you the exact dimemsions but if you measure the TV with the legs (ask them to bring those out if they have them there to show you before you buy the TV), you'll know how wide and deep the stand needs to be. You need to give at least a few inches, or preferably more, around the feet to make sure it's safe. The purchase, despite the stand challenges, was absolutely worth it!If you use the Best Buy rewards card and eBatescard, you also get money back!
