Uncover the detail with 4K HDR
High Dynamic Range (HDR) will change the way you look at TV. Combined with 4K Ultra HD resolution, HDR video content delivers exceptional detail, color and contrast, with a far wider range of brightness than other video formats.
Take non-HDR content to the next level
Our 4K HDR Processor X1 outperforms our original 4K Processor X1 with more real-time image processing power. It takes even non-HDR content to near 4K HDR quality.
Object-based HDR Remaster technology can detect, analyze and optimize each object in the picture individually to adjust the overall contrast for a more natural and realistic picture on screen.
TRILUMINOS display and 4K HDR super bit mapping
Show you exactly what the creator intended. Sony reproduces the subtle nuances of color, light and gradation from video lens to living room.
Upscale to a more natural picture
The difference is clear. You’ll see lifelike detail and stunning clarity, no matter what you're watching. Two powerful image improvement databases work together, dynamically improving images in real time.
4K X-Reality PRO™ upscales images to near 4K clarity while a second database cleans the picture and reduce on-screen noise. Every single pixel is enhanced beautifully by the powerful 4K HDR Processor X1.
Improved contrast
Thanks to Dynamic Contrast Enhancer, experience more life, more texture and more energy in every scene with brighter highlights, deeper blacks, and more natural tonal gradation.
84.6" screen

Great Picture, Excellent Design, Great Tecnology
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It had been a while since I bought a TV (2012), so I was looking for something that felt like a SERIOUS upgrade. This model by Sony blew me away at the display in the Queens Best Buy, but I initially thought it was too big. I went home and did my internet research and decided that not only was this ok size-wise but that it was a class-leader in screen size, contrast, build, and ease-of-use. I’m not an every day Android software user (I rely heavily on Apple for easy to use interfaces) but I’ve found the Android OS works seamlessly with my Apple TV 4K, the Sony Sound Bar, and both Playstations (ps3 and ps4). Aside from the gaming systems, I can use either of the three remotes to control all aspects of the watching or listening experience. There is a dedicated >ARC< HDMI connection that I would highly recommend everyone who purchases this TV to use. There is a plethora of choices in price ranging from $200-$1500 for Sony Sound Bars and I chose the middle ground ($899, at sale price, $699). The reason I mention this feature first is because that sound bar can become your new amp with minimal wiring and effort. The TV itself intelligently knows when the outside speaker source is connected and defers to the better device. I have now ditched speaker wires and optical cords for just a few HDMI connections which are very easily tucked away because of the sheer size of the TV and the handy folding leg liners that snap shut over your cords and cables both sides. I have not upgraded to a PS4 Pro just yet, as I haven’t seen a great justification for a system that rarely employs the 4K tech often enough. And please be assured, the PS4 looks quite fine on this screen as is. I don’t play many games but RDR2 looks immersive and amazing on this display. As I’ve owned this model only for a month now, I would highly suggest doing your own research. But as a recent purchase, I could not be happier with the product. I absolutely love it. Related tips: *You definitely need AT LEAST one more person to help you move and set this TV up. A helping set of hands is ABSOLUTELY necessary. *One of the few quandaries I experienced was finding a great TV bench that satisfied the size requirements and aesthetically matched the display. The only product I found for less than $1000 was was from IKEA (knock them all you want, but for all of $300 I had a great looking and sturdy TV bench delivered.) They look great together. The model was a Hemnes 72” TV Stand. The display will hang over either roughly 1” on each side, but because of perspective and seating it appears FLUSH in my humble NYC apartment.

Great gaming TV
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So as I read through the reviews gaming was the ONLY area I cared about. Let's face it, if you're buying this class of TV, then you're not just gonna watch movies. I run both the Xbox one x and ps 4 pro consoles at 4k 60 frames. If course the Xbox one x is native 4k so it slightly edges out the Ps4 pro in my opinion. Both systems look incredible and you honestly can't go wrong with Sony for the brand. I got the 85 inch and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE EXPERIENCE. Let's face it, nowadays all TV's can do bright visualizations. Now the TV's that can do hdr 10 and higher, as well as true blacks are what set the classes apart. I have NONE flashlighting, nor any lag inputs, nor any visual issues that plague the other brands I found while searching for this TV. If you are a gamer and in the fence, let me tell you, this is an awesome buy and you won't be disappointed!

Fantastic Tv! BRAVO BRAVIA
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolutely LOVE IT! when i was tv shopping my main priority was biggest i could get without breaking the bank. This was it. 85' Sony Bravia! Right off the top being a Sony tv I knew the picture quality would be great, and Bravia is their top of the line tv lineup. Would recommend adding a Sony entertainment system for better Synchrony and output which I did. Two things to keep in mind. 1 this tv is huge, so if you thinking about wall mounting it, be sure to buy one specifically for bigger tvs cause the mount itself needs to be more heavy duty. Also make sure to find beams in the wall where you place the wall mount. You wouldn't wanna be naive and put this tv mounted in just dry wall, it's bound fall. 2 I have the tv on a tv stand. It was extremely hard to find a tv stand long enough to cover the width of the tv. The only was i found is in the picture brought from Nebraska Furniture. Or you can find something ling enough at Ikea.

Sony Is Winning!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV to complete my media Room and it has not been a disappointment. I've read in many other reviews that this TV struggles when trying to handle blacks and a dark Room so I purposely look videos that would show black and I did not notice any graying or blurring. Like all flat panel T v's the speakers are horrible but Best Buy had a deal $100 off on the sound bar I highly recommend you buy one. Its almost a must have. I've owned this TV for 2 weeks now and so far I have been very pleased.

My eyes aren’t big enough to take it all in!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Whoosh! When you want to add massive (seriously take measurements!) and glorious to your precious tv time, this baby is the one! No sound bar needed. Sony is incredible with their quality and sensational screens! If you have the room and money to splurge, I’d highly recommend this beauty! Only problem, you’ll never want go back to a smaller screen afterwards! So beware of the ultimate, addictive pampering with Sony 85”! I love coming home to it!

Quality good Size seems massive
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TV quality picture is good - the 4K only works for certain movies & streamed content like youtube 4K etc. the 85" fits nice on our large open living room floor plan/wall. It looks pretty large in person above our 100" media console. WE have soundbar installed below tv. The instal was very helpful as I was able to put up our previous 65" TV by myself... but this 85" was way to big to try on my own. They arrived, mounted the new mount, installed, programed the tv, took away the box packaging which was large too. Only thing is its a little difficult to connect / set up all the features that fancy this tv. Like voice control and google. I don't want to link my personal google so I need to create a different account to set up with the tv for certain features. We usually use netflix and other apps via Apple TV .... even though this offers the feature... my fiance who does most the tv watching still defaults to apple tv by habit vs trying to learn utilizing it through the tvs features... but so far no issues with anything.

Great contrast, color and size!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We got this at the Super Bowl pricing and have been thrilled with the quality and picture of this TV. Best value for the price! We were concerned because we read reviews that the smaller units lacked contrast. But this model has no problems. Kudos to the geek squad who did a phenomenal job of removing my old TV and moving it to another room and securely mounting the new model. They definitely know what they’re doing!

Minor Tip
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was so impressed with the screen size of this TV that I bought is and because it was a Sony I "assumed" the picture would be great. After a month I was very disappointed as the blacks had shadows and it besides the size it had me WOW factor. I decided that I had traded size for picture quality. After nine months, no clue why I waited, I googled the black shadow issue and there was an answer on some forum. It said to check and see if the picture setting was on "vivid" and if it was put it on "standard" or "cinema" so I did. It not only fixed the issue with the blacks but it improved the entire picture 200%. Every time I watch my TV now I am saying "WOW"! This is a great home theater tV.

Q: QuestionWhat are the differences between X850G, X900G, etc. I’m thinking it’s the picture quality.
Asked by Trab.
- A:Answer They say the 900 has brighter lights and stronger contrast, but I myself did not see the $800-$1000 difference.
Answered by Deebs
Q: QuestionI am seriously considering this television but can't seem to find a stand to set it on. (I don't want to mount it on the wall). The depth of stand (17.125") pushes the limits of most stands. Why not build center stands into your design?
Asked by Midwesterner.
- A:Answer $300 delivered: Hemnes TV Bench from IKEA. Look for 72” model.
Answered by Deebs
Q: QuestionI want to find out if this tv will fit my stand. What is the distance between the two tips of the stand?
Asked by Sonyfan.
- A:Answer The two points are 18 inches apart. The overall length is 56 inches like they said. Don't be fooled as it's deceptive that just because you have the overall length that you also have the depth! I had to wall mount mine due to this ridiculous 18 inch, foot distance

Q: QuestionBarry, Thanks for the quick response. In answering IPS is that for the 85" or 75"? Additionally, where did you find the answer, I've looked everywhere? If you could share a link that would be ideal. That way I could explore all specs. Thanks!
Asked by Poman.
- A:Answer The 85" model is a VA panel while all smaller sizes are IPS. I have the 85" panel and photographed the display with a macro lens and it is clearly a VA panel. Others have done the same with 75" and smaller models which show an IPS pixel layout. The photo is of the 85" model
