Great pictures, needs better instructions
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a hobbyist/casual photographer interested in getting good, even artsy, pics for my square dance club's website. Got this camera for Christmas - it takes fabulous pictures, and has great features. Love love love the f-stop control and changeable lenses with their variable focal lengths and larger apertures than I get from my point and shoot. Much lighter than a traditional DSL so I take it with me whenever I expect to have picture taking opportunities. Not light or small enough to carry all the time for the casual "spur of the moment capture" opportunities, but my kids are grown and I have my cell phone for that. The biggest difficulty I have (and reason for 4, not 5 stars) is that the accompanying instructions are not at all comprehensive, and the buttons are not intuitive, so even a month after getting it, I don't know how to use at least half the capabilities. I occasionally get into funky modes it takes me a while to undo, but the camera takes great pics on the standard settings so there's plenty of utility while I (painfully) learn the ropes. I would recommend this camera to non-professional users who want to be able to take great pics with a "special occasion camera" and who love - or at least don't mind - gadgets.

Great Pictures, Compact Size For A DSLR
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a nice size Mirrorless DSLR that is easy to carry around. I took this to Nashville and took pictures of of the Gaylord Hotel at Christmas. Pictures were amazing of the indoor and outdoor Christmas light displays. The automatic settings work well. I also used shutter priority to take pictures of our Christmas tree at night. Pictures were well focused and still sharp when cropped. This is a fun camera and the price is nice also. The best camera to own is the one you will take with you. Some of the DSLR cameras are too heavy to take on trips. This one is small enough to carry around all day. Highly recommended.

Great camera for beginner or advanced
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very light. It fits well in my wife's smallish hands. Easy to use. Outstanding pictures. Price of this Sony kit was very competitive and actually better bang for the buck as compared to comperable SLR kit.

Perfect for family and kids sports photos
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Went to the store with the intention of purchasing DSLR for family pics and kids sporting events. Unfortunately the model I had researched was too bulky and cumbersome for my wife's small hands so we checked out the Sony Mirrorless because of its ability to shoot 11 fps and more compact size. We are both novice photographers but the salesperson spent extra time demonstrating various features of the camera that were very helpful. Later that day we went out and took pictures for our family holiday card that many inquired about which local professional photographer took the photos. Action shots of daughter playing basketball also have not disappointed. We still have a lot to learn but thrilled with this purchase.

great camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After reading multiple reviews on this mirrorless camera, I decided to take the plunge. Took the camera on a 9 day trip recently and loved it! Lightweight, compact, easy to pack, but has all the features I use in my much larger camera. The more I use this camera, the more I think I won't be using my other camera - too many great features & benefits to go back to the older, heavier one! Several reviews mentioned quick battery drainage - I purchased an additional battery to have on hand, but so far, I haven't found the battery life to be exceptionally short. I would recommend this camera to others, based on the versatility it offers, the compact size and the price point with this package.

Great Camera for the Price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great camera for the price. Tons of megapixels and the autofocus is incredibly fast. This camera packs a lot of features into a small package. Some of the menus are a little awkward to navigate but most of the functions I need/use frequently are readily accessible so it isn't an issue for me. I love that I can transfer a specific image to my phone on the spot via bluetooth and upload it to Instagram, etc. Much more convenient than uploading onto a computer and the lengthy process that entails when I just want one or two quick images to share with friends and family on Instagram. It's especially convenient when out in the woods. Great feature! I'm very happy with my purchase.

Incredible camera, gives beautiful pictures
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I read many and I mean many reviews before finally purchasing this camera for my daughter. She is sixteen and this is her second year taking photography. Her first year I bought her a used black and white Canon which everyone I know seems to be big fans off. Stepping up to a digital, I wanted to make sure I was getting my money's worth but most of all I wanted a good camera. Well, needless to say I have both. The pictures are both very crisp and clear and my daughter just jumped right in with both lens. It's a very easy to learn with camera and not too heavy. I myself love takin pictures with it but my daughter insits I have to get my own!

Amazing even for a veteran shooter
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far within 2 months I've only been shooting late afternoon (it's already dark by 4:30pm in Manhattan) and at nights in Manual mode w/ Auto ISO . Most are only test grab shots and expecting over exposures in some deliberate conditions but the Alpha 6000 remarkably passed most tests ! Amazing!! It is also going to be this poor man's digital Leica M and I will be doing the utterly impossible even when loaded w/ very hi speed film. In places I'll revisit some day, like the creepy very dark side streets in Macao where one should not linger for long and busy day-time market places which morph into say a ghostly temple lit mainly by moon light . A tripod is out of the question; u can use it just to keep u from taken to the hospital ! Ha ! From the hand grip to other features (including exposure accuracy) it reminds one of Minolta (acquired by Konica, the oldest Japanese camera maker, and then by Sony). One , from their honeycomb expo lattice, cannot but imagine Minolta must have (ex-) theoretical physicists in their employ. My M lenses and the excellent (but to most people under-rated) MC, MD lenses including fish eye and mirror (w/o the need of ND filters !! How's that?) will have their reincarnation. The A-mounts ( have few but including APO's) which require an expensive adapter can wait. Equal focal lengths have EQUAL magnification ! Everybody knows that !??. ( Be fooled !) That 1.5x factor only means that u are restricting various angles of view w/ a smaller frame - the CMOS sensor! And in this case, the a6000's APS-C format is just a half frame (remember O's PEN F ?) turned sideways and has the SAME 3:2 aspect ratio of regular full frame. Lucky for us; not the 4/3 frame. If u pick 3:2 on a 4/3 body u r NOT using all available pixels. No need to recommend: friends of friends are already using various a7's w/ full frames ! The bad : Build of the a6000 is not as robust and sturdy as my Lumix (w/ good "Leica" zoom lens) made in Japan. Battery door and lock are flimsy! Not that easy to insert and retrieve SD card. Charging the battery via the camera body on the long run is very RISKY business ! Sony should , like Panasonic, include a battery charger ! I got my off-brand battery and charger for less than $20, a small fraction of what Sony charges (pun intended !) Less fancy but WORKS. Also there should be a lock on Auto ISO. I somehow knocked it off one day and didn't realize it is at the extreme end of the long ISO scale, had to pick an ISO and based everything else on long experience of shooting slides w/o a meter. And I don't need one in most non-rapidly changing lighting conditions. Well, P mode should somewhat save the day too. Overall this is a very usable and affordable interchangeable-lens camera. Light-weight but somewhat flimsy. By the way, flare (if exists) is well controlled on the longer kit lens too. Shooting directly into a "100w" CFL light bulb will tell; u can actually read the lines of labelling above the light ! Miss those CZ lenses? Those are for another day. . Have fun, folks.

This camera does EVERYTHING!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can not believe how great this camera is. It even tells you how to adjust the camera for all kinds of different situations so that your photos come out perfect. I love the video feature and the quality of the photos as well. Neither element is compromised by having a camera capable of doing both. Lightweight so I should be able to do a lot of filming and photos without a lot of fatigue. I am really looking forward to seeing what kind of video it will take when I am filming the northern lights on my trip to Alaska.

Great Camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for a new camera and read reviews online then went to Best Buy to check out 5 camera's that had good reviews. I found that the Sony - Alpha a6000 Mirrorless Camera was the best for the price and was not as bulky as the other camera's that I looked at. It also takes amazing pictures and has a lot of different features that my other camera did not have. I am happy with my purchase and I am excited to use this camera on my family trip in a couple of months.

This camera does it all!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera was highly rated by users and reviewed by professionals. I’ve barely scratched the surface learning what the camera can do, but I’ve gotten amazing results thus far with little effort. There are several online tutorials that teach beginners how to utilize the camera’s many features and they’re very helpful. The bundle price was a no-brainer — if you’ve been considering this camera, now’s the time.

Really great!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this camera - Replaced my Canon EOS T3i and I couldn't be more happy about it. The lock on auto focus and face recognition is AWESOME for taking stunning photos of my VERY energetic 1 year old. I love it every time I get to bust this thing out and take 11 awesome shots per second - ok, so only about 7 of those 11 shots tend to be keepers, but that's still really amazing. It's something you have to experience for yourself.

Great camera for easy high quality pictures
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this camera for my wife for Christmas. She had a Cannon DSLR and loved it, but didn't like the bulkiness of it. She loves this camera. This camera is much smaller but still provides high resolution pictures with great autofocus. She had also used an older model Sony Alpha too, but said this once is much improved over the older models.

Excellent Camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I waited to buy this camera for six months. I did my all study with variety of cameras. Read all possible websites for reviews and guess what! it paid off. This is an excellent camera with astonishing features bundled in it. I am loving it. I feel much comfortable when I compare with my old DSLR with this mirrorless camera. This camera is easy to hold, lightweight and believe me, absolutely no where lagging behind DSLRs.

Robust Camera with Subpar Owner's Manual
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had my camera a month and I am reasonably pleased with the purchase. I must disclose that I am a novice photographer and this is my first DSLR camera. That said, I've taken some very nice shots, but with little to no help from the manufacturer. Sony has done a horrible job with in box and online documentation. Yes, documentation including which button is where--I'm not suggesting a how to take good photos guide (I know the difference). A few photographers have tapped into this huge gap and have written guides to the alpha 6000. If you buy this camera, assume it costs at least $30 more to account for the how to guide you will need to purchase to understand the basic to complex features of the camera. I purchased and am pleased with theDavid Busch's guide to this camera. The two lens and the breadth of features suggests that there is a lot of room to grow with this camera. I went on a photo walk with two friends (intermediate photographers who have different versions of a popular brand) and at times exchanged cameras with them. My camera is a little smaller and consequently a little easier to steady and manage. The enclosed neck strap is incredibly uncomfortable. My neck was red and chaffed from the strap. I purchased a new one the day after the photo walk. If your Best Buy bundle does not include a memory card, know that you will need one to use the camera. There doesn't appear to be built in storage. This purchase was a decent entry camera for me and seems robust enough for me to grow and learn. The pricing is misleading because of the additional purchases required ( manual, strap, memory card). I'll write this off as simply not knowing what I didn't know. I suspect I will need a different bag before I take my next big vacation. The experienced photographer may do better financially by just buying the camera and lens combo then using your existing accessories or buying what you know works for you.
