Customers are positive about the camera's quality, ease of use, and compact size and weight, making it a convenient option. The camera's 4K capabilities, low light performance, and fast autofocus are also well-received. However, customers are negative about the battery life and overheating issues, especially when shooting video, and some find the menu system difficult to navigate and would like a touch screen.

I bought this camera primarily for video. The 4K is sharper in video is really good, being sharper than even the A7RII, but comes at the cost of heat. You won't be able to shoot in 4K for longer than 20 minutes. Also, the 4K mode suffers from rolling shutter. This is concerning if you use video with quick pans or use it handheld and zoom in video (without OSS).
The photos that come out of the camera are quite nice, but it really comes down to if you like Sony's colors. Having not owned an A6000, I can't say if it's a huge improvement. The silent shooting mode is really useful when you want to be quiet, but is totally limiting on what features you can use (Panasonic doesn't seem to have this issue). You can't use HDR mode or certain picture profiles.
I wasn't excited about the kit lens at first, but it's so small and performs nicely.

I have the a6000 and I am happy with that camera I heard the a6300 was similar in performance. I agree the camera is similar but in low-light It's the best I've witness. I recently took some shot indoors at a graduation, everyone was surprise what this little camera can do. I highly recommend the a6300

This camera has lived up to the reviews... it's versatil, light weight, shoots high quality crisp photos (great in low light)... it's a great camera and I am glad I purchased it. I do recommend getting different lenses because the ones that come with the package leave a bit to be desired.

We were looking at the $499 Nikon and Canon specials BB was having and we got to the store we were looking ground and notice the Sony's. We work with a Film company (Narrow Street Films) and they use high end a series Sony's. Then we saw the a 6000 on sale, realizing we are more video dependent and the 6300 was much more suited for that, where the 6000 is much better for stills. we got the package deal with the 6300 and the zoom lens. since then I picked up the fixed 50/1.8 for close up portrait and video style lens. I am a novice to all this but the Sony was an much better choice even though it was twice the price. But we are above the curve with the mirror less over DSLR. We are loving the quality out of this camera. My son does a YouTube channel and getting the camera from a 15 year old is harder than you think. any way that's my 2 cents about this wonderful camera. I would up load a photo but it is only 5mb per photo and the best quality is around 12 mb sorry

This is a great purchase for someone who likes having quality pictures of family, sports, scenery, etc. I would say that I am a beginner in photography, and I am still able to easily use this device. I definitely recommend this camera!! It is well worth the price!

My husband did a lot of research on camera's before we made this purchase. He originally wanted to buy an SLR, however the sales associate showed us this camera and after explaining the features and easy of use, we were sold. We absolutely love it. We are beginners and the SLR would not have the best chose for us. However this camera is fabulous. We have had it now for a few months and have taken 4000 pictures already. We have a 2yr old and 10month old and they both move around really fast...this camera is perfect for these types of shots. This is a camera for a family and I would recommend it to anyone!!!! Go buy it now!!!

DSLR or Mirrorless?

If you got to this review, I am a beginning photographer but was done with point and shoot cameras and wanted to move to both interchangeable lenses and better camera electronics. I read a lot of reviews, talked to some friends, and then went to Best Buy. Both the entry level DSLRs (like the Canon Rebel) and the Sony alpha series met the need and, depending on the latest or the almost the latest models, were comparably priced. Both my camera-knowledgeable friends and the man in the blue shirt said similar things: think about the glass more than the camera body. How many lenses do you think you will you want (then double that number)? In the end the alpha 55-210 lens was on sale with the camera and I went Sony. My spouse also liked that the alpha 6300 fit better in her hands and the controls seemed less intimidating... time will tell but the photos have been great thus far!

I upgraded to the 6300 from a Nikon DSL. The picture quality from this camera rivals any that I have ever used. My biggest gripe with the DSL was the size, this camera fixes that issue while allowing me to still achieve the amazing results with using different lenses.

As a beginner, it was difficult for me to use mainly because there are so many features this camera has and it was hard to want to use all of them at once while trying to learn the basics of photography and videography. But once taken the time to thoroughly explore the camera and customize it to your own, this camera then becomes the perfect camera for so many events and shoots.

I bought this camera as an upgrade from the Nikon D3000, it was my introduction to the mirrorless system as I was tired of the large DSLR that I was rearly using, size is perfect, great image quality, kit lens not bad for the price, definitely recommend.

Bought this for my daughter for her Europe trip. She loves it! It is light to carry & takes great video & pics. Love how it can send pics right away to everyone too. I have a Cannon Rebel and now want an upgrade to this kind of mirrorless lense camera!
