Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a Blu-ray player last month when my Samsung player, which had been an absolute gem for five years, suddenly went haywire with endless rebooting. Learned a couple of days later that several models of Samsung players suddenly starting doing that in this and several other countries, with no fix in sight. So I bought an LG player to replace it. It worked just fine, but I wound up returning it. I have far more DVDs than Blu-rays and the standard-definition DVDs looked OK to decent on the LG, but not as good as on my previous player. So I went back to the Best Buy website, saw that this Sony -- a brand that I trust -- upscales DVDs (and Blu-rays too). So I bought this player and am pleased. The upscaling makes DVDs look pretty darn good and Blu-ray discs look outstanding. Apps on the player are working well too. I highly recommend this Sony to anyone who has a 1080p full HD TV or wants a great player that will upscale DVDs and regular Blu-rays for one's ultra HD 4K TV.

Only reason I bought the Panasonic was because this one didn't play 4k disks. I like this one so much more that I switched back to it yesterday. Hope y'all enjoy this player I know I do. ♥️ Love at first picture.

Does What It Needs To For a Good Price...

This player is quiet, and thin enough to slide right under the TV. The upscaling image quality is good. It has a lot of applications, but we typically use the TV for our Amazon and Netflix accounts, so we haven't really explored those, but isn't that the way with most AV equipment, these days? You pick the one with the best interface (definitely my Firestick and TV) and ignore the other devices.
