I needed an HD dvd player for my RV. It needed to be compact, HD, and user friendly. I could not have asked for anything better. Cable isn't always the best in even some of the best rv parks and we enjoy good mysteries, so we travel with an assortment of Agatha Christies, Holmes, etc. for evening and bad weather days. It is perfect for our needs.

I originally bought this when we purchased our new 4k TV. It was time for a standalone Blu-ray player after years of using an HTPC on the older TV. In the end, we upgraded to the 4k upscaling model of the same lineup (6500). Our TV does a nice job upscaling, but we wanted to cover all of our bases and get a player with it anyway to off-load upscaling of blu-rays to the player itself. Needless to say, this player is still very good without the upscaling feature. We kept it for the old TV and it does the job. You won't really notice any difference between this one and the 6500 model, except for the lack of 4k/3D/WiFi. This player does not have WiFi, which in our case is fine for our uses. Just plug it into the router if it's nearby. Did not try the Playstation Now feature, which looks promising. I would recommend the 6500 if you try that though, due to the dual-core processor. I could see this player struggling, perhaps, in that case. Also, the USB port in the front is awesome, so far it's played any video and music file I've thrown at it. Very convenient for those with digital libraries. It's basic, solid, and gets the job done! Good value product. Glad we kept both players!

We had to replace our DVD player after lightning fried the old one. The sales rep recommended that since we own a Sony TV, that it would be wise to purchase a Sony Blue ray player. We love it! Even our non blue ray disks are sharper and clearer than our old DVD player!! Highly recommend! Easy operation, easy set up!

We always buy Sony products if we can and the new Blu-Ray Sony really is an improvement to our system, the movie is like being at a theater and I get to watch it in the comfort of my own home!!! Life couldn't get any better than that, LOVE IT!!!!

We wanted to be able to play DVDs on our home entertainment center, and this product not only does this, but provides us with a simpler system to learn. We are very happy with this product and would definitely recommend it to our family and friends. We have already done so, in fact.

The Sony BDPS1500 Blu-Ray player is a great value. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of other Blu-Ray players but it fits the bill. It loads much faster than other Blu-Ray players. My only complaint: The player requires an AC adapter that hogs a bunch of space on my power strip.

This blu-ray player is exactly what I wanted. It plays dvd's and blu-rays perfectly without any issues AND plays media from an external hdd via USB. Perfect all-in-one device if you want a full-fledged media center.

I came into Best Buy and told the associate I needed a quality Blu/Ray DVD player, but wasn't looking to break the bank. Without hesitation he handed me this Blu-Ray Player and I'm very satisfied, plus I paid less than what I expected to when walking into the store.

It is pretty good blue-ray player. The only downside is that it only has wired internet connection instead of wireless. The player is compact size so it doesn't take a lot of space. Overall, it is good blue-ray player.

I bought this Sony as a second player for the bedroom and was pleasantly surprised.. It's so intuitive I still haven't looked at the owner's manual! It's not a wireless streaming unit but I bought it just to watch BD's/DVD's so no problem there.Great little player,priced right!

this model is dicontinued. plus its hard to say why youd want one of these things anyway but if you do this is an entry level model that i got for $20 and it works but its such a cheap looking piece of tech. get one if u need it. works really well with its sister sony tv!

This is a great small unit with capabilities of larger more expensive units. I'm using it in a bedroom tv and it's great for kids Blu rays and streaming netflix. Small so it fits anywhere inconspicuously near the tv

My previous "inexpensive" DVD player died on me. With a disc inside. I wanted a Blu-Ray player without all the bells and whistles. This Sony player fit the bill perfectly. The picture quality on my HD TV is AMAZING! Perfect combo! I'm satisfied!

Bought this DVD player based on price and the Sony brand as it was just for the bedroom TV and will be used mostly for exercise videos. The quality is amazing and it was so easy to install. It took less than five minutes to install and test.
