I bought this device to complement my entertainment system upgrade. The picture quality for both DVDs and Blu-rays are outstanding. After reading countless reviews and talking to various Best Buy associates I decided to buy the Sony BDPS6500 over others. I have no regrets!!!

Great Blu Ray player with incredible sound.

It will only up-scale Blu Ray movies, it will NOT play the new 4K disc that are at Best Buy in the black boxes. You need to buy a special Blu Ray player to play those. I will buy one of them when I buy my new 4K TV. The sound quality is incredible and very state of the art for home theater. Very happy with my purchase, and trust the Sony brand to outlast all other brands !

The streaming is smooth and quick. The time it takes to load and play Blue Ray DVD's is just average, but not slower than most players I've owned. Solid performance and great streaming features for the price.

I'm pleasantly surprised at how much smaller this new player is compared to my old one. And this one loads discs much faster. It also connected to my wifi effortlessly. Small, easy to set up and fast. You can't beat that!

The only reason why I gave a 4 instead or a 5 is that it has locked up about 5 times in the last month. Cannot reset, I have to unplug It to restart it then its fine. This could be from my Wi-Fi ,but I don't know. Still good for the price.

Also has all of the internet apps (Amazon and Digital Concert hall) that I subscribe to. In addition, I have a collection of classic TV shows on DVD that weren't filmed in HD. they look better than I've ever seen them look before.

I have yet to unleash all that it has to offer but this was an upgrade for an original Sony bluray player I've had for about 4 years now. Great product and great price.
