Extremely compact unit with basic, adequate remote. Easy Wifi setup as long as you update the firmware before you attempt to use the player. Apps are easy to access and use. YouTube Red, Amazon Video, Sirius, Pandora, have all functioned well. Good choice for non-smart TV; bought a second one for this purpose . BD player performance meets all my needs. To date, have not experienced any of the negatives mentioned in several reviews. Not very exotic or techie, but does what it says it will in description. The price is right.

Best Blu Ray player. Super picture. Fast startup. Sony is the best. Always got sony when it comes to TV AND BLU Player.

Solid player. I bought this because it had the 4K upscaling. Hard to tell if it's detectable by the human eye, but DVDs and BluRays load fast and it works as expected for a BluRay player. BluRays look great. Unit has a small form factor and looks nice. I haven't used the wifi options since it basically duplicates functionality I have set up on my TV, but overall thumbs up.

Bought this BD Player as a replacement of my philips player. Decided to get this 4k upscale version to go with my sony 49 inch 4k tv. Though an up conversation player isn't really required with a native 4k tv as it up converts anyway. The player delivers great quality images. I use a sony high speed hdmi cable that supports 3d and 4k sources. The smart features are good though my tv has smart features as it is an android tv so i don't use the player's. Just need a good sound system and I'm good to go. Gonna be picking that up soon.

I bought this Blu-ray model with dual purposes - one as a Blu-ray and DVD player, and two, as a Wi-Fi connection for streaming content. Wi-Fi was definitely a big disappointment. As a networking consultant, playing around with this unit only made me realize that it is very temperamental when connecting to a network and may still show no Internet connection. Out of 6 different sessions / attempts, it connected to download and install a software update only once. Out of the same 6 attempts, I could get it to connect to an app or service only twice. I programed the remote for my TV to eliminate an extra remote, but the INPUT button worked only once and then would only pull up the selection but I could not change it. Totally useless! This unit is headed back to the store this week!

Easy to install, great picture quality and worth the 4k hd

Thought I would buy this player to compliment my recent purchase of a Sony XBR X 65 900C 3D 4K TV. One feature I missed that my last TV had the Sony doesn't have is 2D 3D upscalling. This player has that ability in spades. Works better than my last TV. The player loads fast and so far has played everything I expected it to play and makes my older DVD's look great especially in simulated 3D mode. perfect? No but close enough to make me a happy camper. What cost it a star? Had a problem downloading latest software update using my WiFi connection. Solution was pretty easy I just ran a jumper from the switched cat5 cable box and the update was downloaded without a hitch. My other reservation in not unique to this player and that is the light weight construction and lack of controls on the unit. To be fair when you have a chance to look inside the older heaver built players the actual transport mechnizums look pretty light weight and the electronics are like wize mostly surface mounted and small in construction. Probably won't effect the performsnce or reliability all that much but I could be wrong and time will tell. Would I buy it again? Yep in a heart beat.

I bought the Sony BDP-S6500 because it had the features I wanted and it had decent reviews from previous purchasers. I was disappointed in that after spending an afternoon of troubleshooting on my own and part of the following afternoon troubleshooting with Sony customer support, we still could not get the player to communicate with the server. Hence, we couldn't connect to the internet and utilize all of the extra features that the product offered. I did play one movie on the machine and was pleased with the quality of the picture it produced, but that was just "half a loaf". I paid for the "whole loaf" i.e., playback plus internet features, but wasn't getting what I paid for so I returned the player to BestBuy. A subsequent internet search of lower end customer ratings for the player indicated my problem was not unique and a number of people experienced similar problems. The Sony website also indicated that the latest firmware version, which I had, was supposed to address the difficulty customers had in accessing the internet. I would venture to say that they may not have completely solved the problem.

The dimensions that are listed are wrong. It is much smaller. This came in handy so that I could put it on top of my cable box. It works very well even with all the rental movies that go through it. I do not really notice the upscale to 4K, but I am sure that it does. Good sale price was the clincher.

When I bought this I was skeptical because I had already had to take one back but I must have just got the one bad apple because this player is amazing hooked up to the Sony TV and the 3d works awesome and the Blu ray works awesome and for the price you cannot go wrong by buying this 3d Blu rays for KF scaling player

I have been a huge fan of Sony for MANY years. This is a replacement for another Sony play that had developed problems. I have had 5 Sony Blu-ray players. I originally purchased this model from Amazon because I had rewards points. It was easy to set up and had a great picture quality. Then the picture started freezing up. Every movie I tried to watch. I had to unplug and start over almost every time. After one week I returned to Amazon for a refund. Then I purchased this one from Best Buy. It works much better than the first one but it has had some problems too. On several Blu-ray movies the picture has briefly pixelated when I skip to next chapter. And lost sound once. But did not require unplugging. Last week every time I turned on power the disk drawer opened. This did require unplugging. I have decided to keep this player. It has great picture quality on Blu-ray movies and the 3D is perfect when it works properly-which is most of the time.

I bought this bluray player almost a year ago and out of the gate I was very happy and impressed. The set up was very easy, the picture quality was excellent and to date for the most part the built in wi-fi is quick. However in the last couple of months when playing blu-ray disks I am getting freeze ups, picture but no sound issues, and frequent issues where the disk won't eject unless you physically unplug the player and replug it back in. So as much as I loved this player I can't recommend it now that less than a year later I am looking for a new player. Hope this helps.

Purchased this unit as part of a full theatre system....the unit played well great picture however it gets hung up and it's not compatible with my yamah receiver....does not play 3D movies on yamahas RX-V379. As confirmed by a Sony tech as two hours of diagnosis

Easy to set up and use Blu-Ray player. I would recommend this player.
