There's better for cheaper
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for the entire Bravia package, which included OLED Tv, Soundbar, Subwoofer, Wireless speakers. This sound bar is the most disappointing part of the lineup. Setup was easy for me, but considering 90% of setup had to be completed in the app (which is not clear on any manual) I don't see this as a convenient option for most users. Sound optimization is terrible, extremely minimal tweeks available. It's great on how plug and play it is with the Bravia TVs, but for how little options are included for the price, theres a lot to be desired. Hooked up to the wireless surround speakers, I have to use my phone's microphone for optimization (which I have to problem with) but it created an extremely dissatisfing sound, no matter what configuration I had this in. For comparison, my HT-A7000 (Which I paid nearly half the price for) has the "same amount of speakers" but is a much better sound system. Surround speakers sounded much better, has better configuration options, and has its settings interface accessable from the unit rather than exclusively through a smartphone.

As other reviews mention, to setup the aoundbar you must download the app and setup an account. I am HDMI-ARC connected to my Sony Bravia 75 in. Once you go through all the sound setups you dont need to use the app.

So close to being perfect

Placed on the right hutch or on a wall, it's barely noticeable. This is where the positive ends. I'm one of the few that prefers no screen on the soundbar. Connecting to my A80J, I thought a Sony product connected to another would be perfect and easy. It's anything but. After connecting this soundbar, my TV became slow to respond to any input from the TV remote. Adjusting the volume takes forever. After disconnecting the soundbar, the TV returned back to its normal status, volume up/down is quick along with cycling through menus. Something about this soundbar taxes the TV's resources. The Wi-Fi audio connectivity to Spotify and others needs work. This is by far the worst part of the soundbar. Music through the TV works better. For example, listening to Spotify at volume 50 through just the soundbar, turning off the soundbar, then later returning to power on the TV turns Spotify back on and playing the last track at volume 50. It's a jarring experience, especially after not being in the living room for a few hours. The proprietary EQ is good for the masses but sometimes slight adjustments are needed. It would be nice for Sony to provide an option to provide a minimum 5 band EQ in later versions. Please do better, Sony. This coming from a household that uses all Sony TVs and portable devices for many decades.

The quality of the sound with the surround sound speakers makes a huge difference in viewing the show you are watching. The sound is like being in an I Max and I’m not kidding. Make sure you invest in this product. You won’t be disappointed and your friends will be amazed by it. My son in law is now going to purchase everything we purchased. He is so excited. He has been wanting to update his TV system. The wires show and he is not happy with that and wants a larger screen and better quality overall for his TV viewing.

Very good soundbar

The bar by itself has impressive sound and was quite easy to set up. I am quite happy with this and I do still plan to add rear speakers and a subwoofer at a later time. You will need to install the app to run the setup but the setup is pretty straightforward.

We replaced the standard 7.2 system with this bar. The center speaker was mounted at the same height as the bar needed to be placed, and the rest of the speakers and subwoofer are gone, giving us a lot more space. The system sounds great.

Really nice Soundbar that Syncs up with Sony TV

Fits perfectly under a 65” TV. The setup was super easy and the integration with the TV was flawless using Sony’s center channel sync. Setting up the spatial sound field was also extremely easy as well. You do have to play with the settings a little. In my medium sized living room, 13 x 15 feet it sounded great. For larger rooms, you may want to step up to the theater bar 9. I plan on purchasing the subwoofer and rear surrounds at a later date. For now the bar itself is more than capable. Was also able to sync the TV and soundbar to my echo dot to turn the system on & off plus control the volume. The original price of $849 was a little high but the insane price of $699 was, I think, the sweet spot for this soundbar. The spatial surround is subtle but definitely noticeable and I’m sure will be greatly enhanced with a sub & surrounds. I am not one to like my movies shaking the house so this is perfect. One last note is the Voice Zoom function also works really well for clear dialogue.
